Morning IDOB - sorry you're feeling like you are but yay for 10 weeks!! Hope your day improves and 5pm comes round quickly.

Diege - great news about the kitchen! Will be great when the bathroom is done for you too! We've had a couple of architects round this week about drawing up plans for our extension. We probably won't be able to afford the extension for another 18 months but at least we can get the plans done and apply for planning permission.

Hi GRUFF, TINKS! Have just had the best shopping splurge. In the spirit of TINKS got:
a dress, two tops, and cardi from ASOS maternity (strongly recommend - some great maternity wear there); a dress, pjs and cute baby shoes with pig on front from topshop maternity; and a top from red herring (ok - hit or miss). My dyson has arrived, and am going to order pram this afternoon!!
That should do me as far as maternity clothes are concerned!

Hi All:

Hope all is going well for you today KK!

Diege - congrats on the kitchen! When ours was done I was suddenly so excited to cook - that lasted about two weeks And you'll love having a brand new bathroom - everything's so clean and lovely!

Ses So sorry for your sleepless night. Hoping it might improve. I'm just starting to get uncomfortable - and our bed is up against the wall! And I'm on the inside We're supposed to move our bed into our 'new' bedroom this weekend though, and it will then have two sides, so looking forward to that!

Congrats to Playing!

GYO WOW, cannot believe you've been on mat leave for 4 weeks already! Hope you're enjoying it!! and best wishes for a speedy labor and delivery!

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 05/03/2009 11:08

Diege - v good shopping!! (Tink - you've got competition!)

Hi Gruff!!

I'm trying to ignore my shoulder but not v easy. Would be my right one as well! Can feel it the whole time but just something simple like lifting a glass of juice makes it worse Will just try and be a bit sensible! Not sure about codeine based preps as I'm always a bit overly cautious but if it doesn't improve I'll try a low strength one.

Just about to go to work but Ses have you got one of those bean bag things you put in microwave? they work really well as they fit snug to your shoulder - just a thought?

im off but hopefully be on properly later. have a good day everyone!

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 05/03/2009 11:42

Thanks Gruff - that's a good idea. I'll look out for one.

Right off to Eastbourne now... Catch you all later!

Diege · 05/03/2009 11:47

shopping guilt...have just splurged on a dress and shoes from Toast (for well after the birth..). That's it for now!
Take care SES - Gruff's idea sounds good.
Hi LBOX, how are things? Agree, new kitchen does feel more appealing, though hasn't quite tempted me to cook yet! On the other hand, I am looking forward to long soaks in the bath when we get new bathroom - only have a corner bath thingy at present.
Right, off to midwife, speak later x

Cosmogirl · 05/03/2009 12:14

GYo - me getting up in the night doesn't seem to wake DH. He stirs and turns over but generally not disturbed too much luckily. Well I suppose they might as well get used to being disturbed though as soon it will be a crying baby and that will definitely wake everyone up!

Hope things are sorted between you now. Sounds like you have a busy day. Haven't got to the films yet but been lying on the sofa listening to nice, relaxing music, so all good and calm here.

kookykid · 05/03/2009 12:17

Hi everyone,

Feeling relatively calm, apart from constant feeling of sickness, which isn't Morning Sickness!

Had a nice morning with DD as we went to her little music group. She's having her sleep now (or supposed to be - I can currently hear her chatting and singing away to herself through the monitor. A minute ago she was shouting "Mr Tumble! Mr Tumble!" )

DH coming home at 2.30 so we can get sorted to take DD to a friend's house, then we can get to the hospital in plenty of time. Am avoiding thinking about the CVS as much as possible and plan to stay in bed when we get home.

Had an email from my mum, who lives in Australia, to say she's coming home for a month. She said whatever the outcome of the test she just wants to be here. Needless to say I bawled again! I can't wait to see her.

Thanks again for your messages.

Astarte · 05/03/2009 12:41

Very jealous of new bathroom Diege
I'd settle for the sodding futility room finished at the minute, but Dh is being a lazy-arse atm, in all respects, but he's at home tomorrow so it'll either blow-up or blow-over depending on whether he gets his finger out

GYo I hope things are settling down (ref: fb rant) I bet they do at the weekend once the HB pack arrives.
Cervix should be soft like your lips, not hard like your nose.
It should be short, less than 2cm would indicate labour is close.
If the OS (opening) is open at all esp. given this is your first birth, then you are beginning to dilate, which is obv also good.
Lastly, the position should be anterior not posterior.
Yes, I did use the breathing techniques, with good effect in early labour and with excellent effect once I was getting to fully dilated and the G&A had run out!

I can't believe so many of you are nearly there . There'll be loads of Wagon-babies soon!

Congratulations to Playing hope you're doing well and can give us all the details soon x

KK I hope the cvs goes well today, I'll be thinking of you x

Tink I agree with Diege, for the 7pm feed, after bath, Dd1 went into her cot in her own room, from about 3 weeks old.

I've made an appt with the GP to be referred for sterilisation, eek! Not going to wait until 6 week check.
M/w has done baby's bloods again. Not traumatic this time around as she recommended I b'feed her whilst it was taken, which worked a treat.

Okay my go at the sweepstake....

Urgh...I feel sick!! Moan moan moan.....did some cervix rummaging this morning and couldn't even locate it. That's not a good sign is it?....I could definitely feel it when I was ttc. Maybe my 'going to be early' instincts are all wrong. Booooooo.

lastboxoftampons · 05/03/2009 16:26

Diege - thanks for the ASOS tip! THey have some really cute stuff! I'm in NY next weekend, and will see what I find there and then likely supplement with what I find here.

Astarte - sterilization, huh? So you're sure there's not a fifth little one to be had?

Cosmo - noticed on the pregnancy board that you had experience of both the new and old Britax models and chose the older one. I've seen the old one in person on the street, but haven't had a chance to fiddle, but was excited that the new one did the lie flat thing - just curious, what did you not like about it? MIL has asked us what we'd like her to get for LO and suggested the stroller, although I'd like to say no to that as I'd rather just pick what i want without having to think about someone else's budget IYSWIM? But the Britax is pretty reasonable, I think, so if we go that route, I might say okay.

KK hoping all is going well! Will be lovely to have your mum.

Kay - forgot to say welldone for DSs sleeping through the night! Oh and Diege, you did GF? Am now starting to think about what we'd like to do when LO arrives as far as schedules and all that. Were you v. strict or did you do a modified version?

Cosmogirl · 05/03/2009 16:48

Hi Lbot,

We only saw the new Britax in the catalogue - not to look at properly but wasn't as keen on the design. Probably just a personal preference but i didn't like the look of the lie-flat buggy bit - wasn't too keen on the choice of colours either. Plus it was more expensive I think...can hardly remember now (baby brain!)... probably just because we had really set our sights on the original model from day one and liked it, so didn't want to go for a different one.

Cosmo I'd say either you're almost fully effaced, so there is nothing left to feel, or it's still rather posterior, which means it's likely to be rather hard to reach it.

It could all change within a day or two though and you could go into labour .

Tink, I'm shocked you have even shopped mentally for Christmas!!
My kids would definitely have changed their minds over what they'd like at least 3 times from the end of November onwards!!

I just dropped a knife on my bump! surely I'm not fit to be a mother!

Cosmo - I like the pram function, but there is something sort of flimsy-looking about the footrest area of the new Britax, I was wondering if that might've done it for you! I'll have to go take a look. thanks!

Evening!! TINKS, how will you fill the months up to xmas if you get all your shopping done by June!
LBOX, at knife throwing.
Agree there's some lovely things on asos, and I can vouch for the quality too - really pleased with the things I've got from there, and great customer service/fast delivery too.
Re: gf, I suppose I did pretty much follow it to the letter, though with the odd adjustment (for eg. couldn't bare to wake los up with light on at 11pm, so if they didn't wake fully would feed anyway without being fully awake; also had to have some 'naps' in pram rather than bedroom as out on school run etc, but even she allows for that ). I know many who do modify it successfully, although it's a fine line between modification and Miriam Stoppard land
Midwifes was fine. Baby transverse at mo' so she didn;t bother measuring fundus height, but said everything felt fine. Listened to heartbeat with one of those Pincaid ear trumpets - have never had that before!
Oh and I think my pram plans have changed...the only buggy board that fits on bugaboo bee is almost as big as the pram itself, and quite unwieldly, so am going for the pilko pramette instead...not the most exciting of prams, but it has built in toddler steps plus some of the colour combinations get my heart racing just a little..
Off now as dh back with Chinese food.
Hope things went ok KK xxx

I am back from my CVS. The consultant was really fantastic and didn't keep us waiting at all, which helped with the nerves. It was a very very strange and uncomfortable feeling whilst it was being done, but over very quickly. He said the placenta was in an excellent position and that the risk of miscarriage was less than 1%, but obviously have to take it easy for the next day or so.

Am feeling calmer and less stressed than I have for days. We should have the results on Monday evening. Off to bed shortly!
