Baby has to have a repeat Guthrie test, m/w rang this morning. Something about a contaminated sample, what the heck is that??
It's not a cover for something is it? Does it mean the test was +ve?

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/03/2009 10:18

Morning all

Kooky, as Kayz said please dont apologise for post- thats what we are all here for. It must be a really tough time- am thinking of you.

OS- thanks for info on the prolactinoma, looked it up on google and remember being tested for that myself when I was younger and noone would believe I had PCOS. Hope they sort you out soon

STT- hello I was wondering where you were (oddly as I was just making porridge, Im sure you can get the link). Sorry you've been so poorly, sounds dreadful. Hope you are on the mend now. How many weeks are you and your cute little cashew now?

Kayz- morning hope its not a bug for your DS1, but jumping on bed does sound quite puke inducing... ....

Hi everyone else.

Still no news from Playing?

Hi Astarte- sounds really weird, maybe the MW just screwed up and lost the sample and didnt want to admit it?

Morning,

KK - just to echo GYo really - post away. Having no experience of this I am not much help, but feel free to vent and think aloud on here. You are being faced with some awful decisions that no one should have to face.

Still no word from Playing but I would imagine she will have her bundle by now. My friend was induced at 42 weeks on Monday and I received a text yesterday saying he had arrived after '27 hours of traumatic labour'......but was healthy and well and 7.7lbs. I think I will wait to hear her birth story after I have had mine though....

HappiesNappies must surely have popped by now too which means you are at the top of the list GYo!!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/03/2009 10:34

Morning Cosmo!

How are you feeling today?

Top of the list !!

OP posts:
Cosmogirl · 04/03/2009 10:39

Morning,

Not too bad I think. I overdid the cleaning on my first day of mat leave and spent most of yesterday feeling really out of it and rough. Today I am feeling a little better, so might pop to the shops in bit for some fresh air.

Keep having little moments of panic about stupid things like 'is that cupboard organised enough?' etc.. 'what if I go into labour next week and we have tidied the garage?' Completely stupid thoughts I know, but I think it is the hormones and not knowing if I could be waiting one more week or 6.....

I am sure we'll have plenty of people in and out of the house to visit the baby and just getting paranoid that everything is tidy and organised. Do I sound as crazy as I think I do?!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/03/2009 10:50

Doesnt sound crazy at all Comso. I think its completely normal. Also at the start of mat leave its normal to want to have a purpose etc. I found it really hard to sit about, felt the need to justify my being off work to DH, even though he didnt ask for it. Im getting better and sitting about (this is my 4th week!)

Have been similar here with regards to cleaning . On Monday I felt compelled to clean the wood floors with antibacterial stuff, hoover the sofa (!) etc as I dont know when I can do it again.. I was hoping it was a sign but nothing yet (except some random back aches during the night- but that hasnt come to anything).

Maybe book a facial or something to give you some relaxation time away from home.

Morning

KK as others have said, please please don't feel bad about posting here - that's exactly what the wagon's for! When is the CVS scheduled for? Best of luck and hoping you get the best possible answers to your questions. The info from the scan sounds positive so here's hoping that those are all good indications. Happy thoughts for you and your DH!

BB - so sorry I forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Welcome to the wagon!

LOL at your mad cleaning GYO and Cosmo! I need to get on that just so the house looks presentable, let alone actual nesting! Our bedroom is a tip at the moment because I maniacally pull out clothes each morning and then realize they're never going to fit and so they're all in a pile on my dresser as there's no point in putting them back in the drawers! Really I need to go through them this weekend and put away whatever's not going to be needed for the duration now.

kayzr · 04/03/2009 12:13

Hello,

Cosmo, I was awful. I was signed off early because I had SPD and was anaemic so really tired. I cleaned so much, DH wasn't happy as I was doing far too much and it probably made my SPD worse. But I couldn't help it.

I took DS1 to have his hair cut this morning. He was actually quite good as he hates people touching his hair. So I got him a Thomas DVD from the flea market and the lady whose stall it was gave him 2 books for free!!

kayzr · 04/03/2009 12:30

Oh and DH got his job seekers allowence yesterday(at last) £60 a week paid fortnightly. But he is getting no extra towards having kids!!! It is slightly annoying that they refuse to give him any money towards buying nappies etc.

kookykid · 04/03/2009 12:45

Thanks everyone, it means a lot to me.

CVS booked for tomorrow at 4.30pm. It's going to be a long long day! Results should be back Monday/Tuesday.

Currently on my lunch break and have lots to do, but will be back later.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/03/2009 12:56

Hi Kooky- glad you've got CVS appt so soon, least it will be out of the way sooner rather than later.

OK- bit of question. Woke at 3am with really painful cramps in my back but it subsided quite fast and i went back to sleep.

Today and for a couple of days I've had periody kind of pains. The kind of thing that tells me AF is on its way or just happening. Are these labour signs or just my body getting ready?

No show or waters leaking yet. Only other was powerful need to clean floors on monday.

oh, and been sniffing and massaging clary sage... too.

OP posts:
Astarte · 04/03/2009 13:12

KK I'm keeping everything crossed for you for tomorrow

STT glad everything is subsiding. Hope you start to bloom soon.

Kayz what a relief about the xray, perhaps as GYo suggested it's a bit inflamed. £60 doesn't sound like a lot t all, will you manage okay? At least you have the washables if the nappies situation starts to look iffy

Gyo period pains could be the clary sage, it strengthens the pains that are there supposedly. 'Course if you've been maniacally cleaning it could just be the strain of that.
It isn't going to be long either way now is it? How's the cd coming along? I can't believe you're at the top already, it seemed ages away didn't it and now here you are.....are we allowed to tentatively suggest a sweepstake on your date/weight/time etc?

OhSnap is the prolactinaemia related to being underweight? I know anovulation is isn't it?
I was tested for this when I was 17 I think for Galacthorrea (?sp) but it was related to the contraceptive pill (I can't tolerate the Oestrogen).
Glad to hear your gran is doing better

LB if you're lurking I'm trying to get to the PO as fast as 4 kids will allow
Diege I will email you this week I PROMISE!!!!!!

Well, we're stuck in for the day. Everyone was loaded into the car ready to meet up with my work colleagues for lunch, but Dd1 had left the interior light on in the car yesterday and the battery was completely flat, grr!

Will endeavour to read back and catch up where needed.

lastboxoftampons · 04/03/2009 13:15

GYO every time my SIL has given birth, she's felt just really uncomfortable/crampy/achy the day before. I don't think her water ever actually broke before labor set in. It could be close for you!

KK Best of luck tomorrow - we'll be thinking of you.

kayzr · 04/03/2009 13:16

I think we'll be ok. I get my mat pay 4 weekly, child benefit and DH's disability living allowence but it is annoying that they haven't taken the DSes into consideration.

idreamofbeanie · 04/03/2009 13:48

Hi,

KK - good luck for tomorrow, I'm glad you've been able to get a date so quickly an it looks like the results are fairly quick. You'll have to plan lots of distractions over the weekend so it doesn't seem so long.

Kayz - that doesn't sound like much but at least it is sorted out finally.

Astarte - how annoying!

Gyo - how exciting! I totally can't imagine being at your stage. Mind I also can't imagine having a nesting instinct - DP would go into shock if I ever got the urge to do more than clean the dishes or have a quick hoover. Afraid my housekeeping standards are fairly basic .

Cosmo - take it easy, I thought ML was a time to relax. I have my fingers crossed for you the wait is closer to 1 week than 6.

Well I feel really rough today - queasy and tired - but I think I am getting used to it. It will be great when I can tell people at work why I am falling asleep on my desk and looking rough. I'm sure they all think I'm constantly hungover, if only they knew I'm usually in bed by 9.30pm. 19 days to go, not that I'm counting .

tinkislittlemissshopping · 04/03/2009 13:48

kooky glad scan went well and glad u have cvs appointment
cosmo ur r nesting lots

ohsnap · 04/03/2009 13:48

Astarte, the whole thing was kicked off by me taking Dianette (sp?) pill when I was 17, then they scanned my brain looking for a tumour (prolactinoma) but said they found nothing (ha, and I'm blond, DH said they could've just shone a torch in one ear and looked in the other) so they said that it must be there, just too small to see . So I've been taking cabergoline on and off since then, pre-children it was stop the random leaking , after DD1 it was to restart my cycles so I coud have DD2. Since DD2 AF has returned unaided but we think OV isn't happening, hence the need for the cabergoline again. There's no proper research for whether it's safe to take while TTCing but there aren't any reports to say it's not either, so I think it's a case of take it but stop while on the 2WW, then start it again at next AF.

GYo, it sounds promising, p'raps baby's shuffling down a bit and getting ready? [hopeful]

Cosmogirl · 04/03/2009 15:26

Does sound good GYo - hope the cramps etc are a sign of things moving in the right direction. I've not had anything like that yet.

IDOB - I know, I too thought maternity leave would be a time to chill with my feet up but the nesting instinct is scarily powerful. Even though I feel like crap and am still nauseous something keeps powering me on. Just cleaned all the kitchen cupboards ....feel guilty sitting down (very silly I know)....

Best of luck tomorrow KK xx

Astarte · 04/03/2009 15:59

Sshhh!

my house is silent 'cept for the washer

both babies are napping beside me and older 2 are out with grandma to swimmin' lessons.

ooh, I don't like it............it's eery!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 04/03/2009 16:14

Hello. Just back from getting my car MOT'd. Thats the last proper job I had to get done before giving birth so perhaps now things can get going!!

Good to hear that my "signs" are encouraging. Its all gone away this afternoon and baby is doing its afternoon workout. Will see but we definately should start a syndicate... will post one in a sec.

Cosmo, I've only had the achiness since saturday.

Ast- sounds like bliss with a quiet house Hynpo CD is going ok actually. Trying to do it daily and its nearly making me fall asleep now which means I must be relaxing. I try and use the relaxation methods before sleep too.... Did you use the techniques during birth?

Also, am I right in thinking you know about cervical examination ? I have tried to see if mine is soft but cant even reach it. Doesnt seem to be any online consensus as to what that means regarding labour starting... wondered if you knew
