Diege- if you are lurking....? Meant to post that my Bugaboo arrived and I JUST LOVE THE COLOUR! its so neutral so fine for either boy or girl. Im also very impressed by how it works too. Will report again after we have done the proper road test with baby in it.

Ast- hurray for new shoes arriving. Will you have chance to wear them soon? I've been known to wear new shoes around house just because I can!

Granny is much better thanks, she's still in bed and very weak but not in lots of pain anymore. She does keep going pale and needs O2 for a bit so not quite ready to come home yet. The Drs are talking about when she comes home though, rather than if, which is good. Mum's hoping to speak to the Dr this afternoon to get more of an idea of what's going to happen next.

idreamofbeanie · 03/03/2009 15:36

Thanks Kayz, I'll have a look at Bude then. It sounds lovely. We both love walking around exploring somewhere new but are not too fussy about whether that means coast, hills, moors or heritage sites. Our fav camping places are North Wales (near Colwyn Bay), the lake district and the area around Loch Lomond and the trossachs.

Ohsnap- glad your granny is feeling better.

Gyo - yah for bugaboo. I'm glad I don't have to think about a pram for a while yet - the huge array is a bit intimidating.

Astarte - hooray for surviving and for new shoes.

PS Can you tell I'm very bored at work today. Really should close MN for a while .

Hello

Tink- thats some shopping glad you are fully back on shopping form and glad 6wk check went ok too.

Is your DD1 getting on well having a baby sister?

My bugaboo is in dark kharki (which I think is what Diege was planning and what Nat got for Mikey). We dont know if its a boy or girl so felt it was a safe colour

IDOB- the planning and research to get all the baby stuff is the best bit of having a baby I spent ages browsing online before deciding anything Though I was too afraid to look at catalogues early on incase i jinxed it.

OS- glad your grannny is doing a bit better. Did you get results from those blood tests taken a while ago?

BB- congratulations on the BFP- sorry I've not said it yet!

Sorry ANOTHER message from me

Ses meant to say thanks for suggestion of something minty for my indigestion/ heartburn. Took some peppermint oil caps that I had for something else and they really helped settle me down. Will keep having one before each meal as it really seems to be helping.

I just rang for the results of my x-ray and it is normal and all is well. So why does my knee still really hurt? Might be another trip to the gp.

IDOB, Bude is on the coast so you really get the best of both worlds. You are also about 40 miles from the Eden Project.

ohsnap · 03/03/2009 16:47

If you've ever been anywhere tropical don't bother with the Eden project, we went and were seriously disappointed, I think it's more of a school trip sort of place. Bude is nice, as is Polzeath, just a bit further down. Or there's always the south coast, Brixham is famous for its fish, Salcombe has nice beaches, anywhere on Dartmoor is nice (don't forget to go to Princetown and see Dartmoor prison [shudder]). Exmouth is one of the nicest big beaches at this end of the country IMO, we go there often all year round

GYO, I did get the results of the first test, my prolactin level is 675 (max normal is 580) so I deffo need to get that down a bit as too much prevents OV (that's how BFing works as a contraceptive!). The drugs I have work well (otherwise DD2 wouldn't be here) but they are quite unpleasant to take, I get headaches and a stuffed up head for a day after taking them.

ohsnap · 03/03/2009 16:48

Glad your knee is (theoretically) better Kayz, hope it feels better soon...

kayzr · 03/03/2009 16:52

Oh year Dartmoor prison is a must. We didn't go to the eden project but I've always wanted to go. But Ohsnap you are the 6th person I know that has been and said it's not good.

Launceston castle is nice if you like castles. But up a lot of steps!

kayzr · 03/03/2009 16:57

"Oh year" I can't spell.

DH is at hospital Monday morning in York at 9:30. If MIL can't take him it is bus at 10 to 7!!

idreamofbeanie · 03/03/2009 16:58

I'm sold - we'll start the week in Bude then, as we are camping, we can decide once we are there whether we want to stay there or drive further down coast or across towards Dartmoor national park. Thanks guys!

kayzr · 03/03/2009 16:59

Go to Tintagel if you get a chance. The castle is beautiful and you can go into Merlins cave and walk all the way through. I loved it and I'm hoping to go again and take the kids.

idreamofbeanie · 03/03/2009 17:05

We'll definitely try to go Kayz. I actually picked up a brochure about Tintagel castle a couple of weeks ago and that is what started me thinking about a trip down to Cornwall. Oh this is great - I was feeling a bit sorry for myself that we can't afford a big holiday this year but now I'm really looking forward to this camping hol .

lastboxoftampons · 03/03/2009 17:16

Hello everyone!

Haven't had time to catch up properly at all, but just wanted to say hi. We were in Spain for a lovely weekend - was somehow relaxing while there, but now I'm shattered. DH felt the baby kick for the first time which we were both so excited about! Think it was just a matter of him being in the right place at the right time, but having nothing to do but lie in bed with his hand on my bump really helped!

Hope all are well!

GYO did have a read of your Facebook post and wanted you to have this hot double fudge brownie - you've got to eat it quick though, the ice cream is melting!!!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 03/03/2009 17:36

Hello

OS- Its good you have some drugs to bring down the prolactin... is high prolactin something you have chronically then? Sorry all very interesting this hormonal stuff.... Hope it comes down soon so you can get POAS soon. Keeping a sick bucket specially for you

Hi LBOT- thanks for the brownie yum yum... just what I needed. Your weekend sounds like fun. Good to get away sometimes.

IDOB- all this talk of holidays makes me want to book something. Good to get so much useful info from Kayz and OS.

Kayz- glad knee is ok, despite being sore. maybe its just inflammed.
Train trip looks so cool. When is the date for it?

OP posts:
kayzr · 03/03/2009 17:38

18th July Gyo. Our anniversary is the 15th and DH's birthday is the 18th so a good day for it.

ohsnap · 03/03/2009 17:45

Ah yes GYO, I'm fascinating, me! I have a microprolactinoma which first manifested itself when I was 17 and cildless, all very embarrassing at the time!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 04/03/2009 02:24

Evening all, sorry I haven't been posting much, and when I have its all been very self-centred. I'm struggling a lot bit, I ended up being very poorly indeed last week, really dehydrated with severe d and a bit of v thrown in for good measure.

I seem to be over it now though, thank goodness, just a few last trumps as my digestive system starts to recover - hopefully! I lost a fair bit of weight too, which means that my work trousers will fit a bit longer now.

KK - how are you getting on?

AS, so sorry about your granny, pleased to hear she's on the mend.

Astarte - congrats for managing on your own, must have been very daunting!

Tink - can't believe your 6 weeks pn already!

GYo - sorry I haven't checked into facebook, will try to get on tomorrow at some point (STT glances at clock and wonders if she'll ever get back to sleep and may have a look tonight )

OS - fingers crossed not long till you join us

LBOT - weekend break sounds lovely, DH and I were always rubbish at just getting round to that sort of thing!

IDOB - what a nightmare worrying time this is! I felt sicker than a sick thing last week, which felt like a good sign, but now I feel better I'm so worried that its the same as when I had the MC and that I've lost it again.

I can't even remember if I told you guys that I got a scan last week? which showed LO looking somewhat like a cashew nut with a good heartbeat, which I know is really positive, but still can't convince myself that something hasn't gone wrong

I've been sleeping for England and seem to have finally maxed out - hence being awake now I guess. Ho hum.... I suspect tomorrow could be a long and painful day!

Best make some efforts to go back to sleep, I've been up an hour already (although was in bed at 8.30 again!)

Sparklytwinkletoes · 04/03/2009 02:26

BB - a special post just for you:

[gri n][g rin] [gri n][g rin]

(You do know me, have you joined the facebook group?)

Oh - and when do we think we'll hear from Playing next - I haven't missed an announcement have I?

kookykid · 04/03/2009 07:51

Morning,

Had my scan yesterday, and as I'd thought it would be, it was inconclusive. Baby DOES have a risk of Downs too so we were mis-informed about that. On the plus side baby's heartbeat was very good, it seems to be developing "normally", brain development seems OK and it has the requisite number of fingers and thumbs. The only thing they were slightly concerned about was a possible receding chin, which could be an indication of Downs or Edwards. (But it's not escatly a major brain/heart deformity!)

They have booked us in again for another detailed scan in 2 weeks, plus a detailed heart echo with a specialist form Great Ormond Street. However, DH and I are just not sure we can go through this awful waiting for much longer, so after much heart-ache and tears I have decided to go for the CVS. We have come to the conclusion they're never going to give us a sure answer one way or another through scans alone.

Feeling desperately sad.

kookykid · 04/03/2009 07:54

Sorry. That was very me me me. Apologies, just need to offload a bit!

kayzr · 04/03/2009 08:48

Morning,

Kooky, don't apologise for the you posts. You are more than entitled.

My mum had 2 CVS and she said to me when I asked about it when I was expecting DS1 she said the thinking about the CVS was worse than the actual CVS. If you want to know it is also the only way to tell you 100% the sex of the baby. I have everything crossed for you.

Mum unfortunetly got both worlds really. My brother's came back saying he was fine but for my second brother he had downs. They went ahead but he died at a few hours old due to an unforseen heart problem.

STT, glad your d&v seems to be going. Try to think positive if possible.

BB, Here is the FB group. You'll have to join us.

DS1 was sick again last night but we don't think it is another bug. He woke us up by jumping on his bed and then he was sick so we think that caused it.

Diege · 04/03/2009 09:04

Morning! Just a quickie as off to teach 5 mins ago!
Will have to read through tomorrow as mon-wed are just a write off re: mumsnet because of work, but just caught KK's post and wanted to say that I am thinking of you and fwiw think you are making the right deicsion re: cvs. Scans/bloods can only ever give you a risk factor, so at least you will have peace of mind after a diagnostic test. Looks good too that there are no heart problems, as would usually be seen at this stage for edwards at least. Thinking of you xxx

ohsnap · 04/03/2009 09:39

Kooky, when will you be having the CVS? I hope it's soon so you can get some answers and to put an end to the guessing and worrying. Thinking of you.
