Morning all - missed you yesterday,
Tea, you seem very cheerful considering the job and the plumbing problems. Very, very good news about the project offer for Jan though - you go get 'em girl. Sods.
Uki - have a lovely day on Saturday. It's dd's birthday too - sure you don't want a Princess Barbie, an Angelina sticker book and an afternoon in soft play instead???
Charley - the main reason I'm interested in where the baby is as I think it will affect how often I need the loo - at the moment I'm getting a full night's sleep on that score (insomnia's another question)
Bubb - what a bloody rude doctor - has he got a paunch? hair loss? I think you should bring it up next appointment.

lummox · 14/04/2005 10:49

morning everyone - have been away in France then lurking again.

wanted to post for teabelly that you might like to contact the Maternity Alliance (www.maternityalliance.org.uk) who are a charity set up to support pregnant women in employment and really know their stuff.

for almost everyone else, hope things start to look up soon. i had a minor fret when one of the pee on a stick glucose tests came back positive. i've done a few since, and all negative so not sure if will have to do the GTT thing. at least if i do i know i'm not the only one!

Oh Lynny, you poor dear sweetheart, what an awful childhood you must have had and how brave you must be. If anyone deserves a lovely dh it's you. How on earth do you manage to be so bright and funny? I would have collapsed under the weight of it all. I wish you so much joy with your new baby xxxx

Oh blimey Lynny. Just wanted to agree with everyone else really, and say I'm amazed you manage to be so positive, cheerful and upbeat considering everything you've been through. You deserve all the happiness in the world with your DH (and a baby that sleeps through the night from day 1!).

Hello again Lummox. I can't remember, have you actually bought your house in France or are you still looking?

charleypops · 14/04/2005 13:15

Bloody hell Uki - I cannot believer your old doc - what a perv! Hope he's not still practising!

Bubb - obviously another perv - you should've told yours not to be so rude and personal! Re the bank - why don't you tell them in a letter that you intend to name and shame them in the press like MrsW suggested, or on line at Motley Fool like Trib said - I've found them very useful myself/

Uki - HAPPY BIRTHDAY for Saturday!!

Tea - you don't normally post on Thursdays do you? The next big item on my shopping list is the cot. Still not got nappies or wraps though - just a 5 pack of inadequate-looking muslins... I hardly ever get it together to actually post birthday/christmas/whatever cards - always end up phoning.

Welshie - that the good thing about having a breech baby - less time going to the loo obviously it would nice for them to turn for those hoping to labour, but maybe not til a few weeks later.....

Lummox - HI!

Lynny - you're not having a great time of it at the moment are you honey? Sounds the lovely receptionist took the sting out of your morning though .
FAMILIES! They can be unbelievably cruel can't they? What strength you had at 13 to report your father! I remember what it was like back then - people didn't believe child abuse happened like they do these days. I had an incident with a family friend when I was little - told my dad, wasn't believed, called a liar and made to say I'd made it up. I can barely imagine what it must've been like for you. Thank goodness your team found other witnesses to back you up. The betrayal of your mum must've hurt so much Are they still together? Can't believe you still found it in yourself to be nice to them for a while afterwards. It's difficult letting go of your mum isn't it. i suppose you had to go into care. It's a wonder you are so together and happy. A lot of people with that background find it easier to wash their hands of society - you see them smacked out or alcoholics hassling for change in the cold streets. Do you feel like you can't be stronger with your ex MIL because you're scared of losing her?
Hope your cake tasted scrummy. Mmmm

PinkArjuna · 14/04/2005 13:23

Right I'm off out but I thought I'd pop in.

Teabelly - Oh sorry about the job thing hope you can work something out.

Charley - Antenatal classes are strange places. Most people are 30's or 40's or a teenager. Well we only have 1 teenager in our NHS group. I feel like a right idiot being a 20 something it is a very unfashionable time to get pregnant

Mrs Wednesday - My whirlpool machine is great. I got it discounted too There is a shop that picks things up from the retailers when it has a mark on it - they can't sell it with a mark either from displaying or transport. It has a mark on the side that you can't see but means it was £50 cheaper Though my Dad spoke to the agents yesterday and the cheap bastards weren't prepared to pay anymore than £150 for a machine What sort of machine can you find for that price??? Oh I saw a knock of shop the other day - it went bankrupt and the people who bought from there, their machines were mostly faulty. So my dad kindly paid for it. I hate these agents. BASTARDS I want one of those voodoo dolls if you can get one... cough teabelly

LipstickMum · 14/04/2005 13:35

Hello everyone, I don't have much time to post atm, hope to see you all later xxx

teabelly · 14/04/2005 15:05

Ha ha ha Pink! I'll see what I can do

Charley - nope don't usually get the time thurs-sun as ds is wonderful, but likes my pc more than I do, and I don't get a look in if I turn it on...luckily he's asleep at the mo!

Lynny - what a special person you are - when I grow up I want to be just like you!

Hurrah - specialist came - and then there was heat, woohoo!!!!! now to tell the plumber that the problem was caused by him...and was just a simple air bubble!!!! No F*ing heat for 2 and a bit weeks, arrhhhhh - will let DH discuss the bill with him when he gets home later!!!

Anyway - will go and make a well deserved cup of tea and savour a big bar of yorkie whilst ds is still asleep, x

welshmum · 14/04/2005 15:08

That's good news tea - does it mean you won't have to pay the first guy's bill? or even that he might have to pay the specialist's bill as he caused it?
Have just been given 2 maltesers...not enough will have to buy whole packet now.

Hi all,

Yes - we bought the house in France just before Christmas, but haven't yet completed on the sale of our flat in London.

We're heading back there in early May - not sure how late it is sensible to stay - would welcome advice fom second/third timers. It's only about three hours door to door and it's all in the car (DH driving) so I thought we could stay until about 3 weeks before bubba due. Is that stupid?

Tea - please tell me you'd bled the radiators before you got the first plumber in? No, it couldn't have been that simple - I bet you have a closed system don't you? Hey - at least it didn't happen in winter!! For my future reference - how did you find your specialist? So youre back on the tea then tea! I seem to remember you'd gone off it?

KVG - you cannot leave us dangling like that - I want to know what you asked your doc to send him into giggles with the nurse!

Lummox - which bit of france you bought in? 3 hours is fantastic door to door - very tempted myself!

Lynny - how was your GTT?

was it about front or back bottom KVG? And do you think I should bid on those nappies?

katzguk · 14/04/2005 17:48

nappies maybe - have a quick look at the classified ads on the nappy lady - you might just get a better bargain

OP posts:
charleypops · 14/04/2005 17:54

That's a good idea Katz - i just heard back from the seller actually - they're all aplix. I'd prefer Nippa style anyway, so I won't be bidding.

JonahB · 14/04/2005 17:54

End of another long working day. I am delighted to tell you that i've got 18 working days left .

I'm off to Brighton tomorrow am for a long weekend, so i wont be able to catch up until Tuesday. Hope you all have a great weekend, bye.........

lummox · 14/04/2005 18:08

We bought in the Pas de Calais - about forty five mins from Calais, so pretty commutable once or twice a week. Not too worried about traffic, as have had loads of hols in the area and done the journey in all different situations.

More worried about having junior in a French hospital - am sure they are very good medically, but think there is a more medicalised view of pregnancy out there so not sure it would be a great experience. Got to weight that against having a really nice two weeks out in France rather than sitting around in London - difficult.

Am impressed by number of folk trying washable nappies - I filled out the nappy lady stuff, but found the whole thing seemed too much. Have been inspired to try again by you guys though, so will dig out that e-mail.

Have 14 working days to go........

PinkArjuna · 14/04/2005 20:55

I had the strangest dream last night about eating Ice cream snickers. I often dream about food when I am stressed about something. I woke up this morning after the dream, which was incidentally probably not a dream dream but one inbetween sleep and awake. Well, I had left the Freezer door open all night!!! I managed to defrost everything I obviously got so nothered in the dream about the snickers I went half awake to the freezer to check they were still there

Well Just thought I'd pop in
