tribpot · 13/04/2005 16:27

Lynny, your ex sounds great. If he ever divorces wife number 2 let me know and I might make a play for him myself. NOT.

Lua, congrats on passing the theory test!

Pink, glad you are enjoying the delights of the washing machine.

Completely appalled by all comments on size of bump / dietary choice of baby - do people have no self-control or shame at all?! I don't know if I am missing out on all this by not being at work, thus not seeing many people who don't know me (people who do obviously realising they will get a slap round the chops for comments about bump size etc.).

MrsWednesday · 13/04/2005 16:27

Stop it now Pink, I'm turning greener and greener over here.

Glad your theory one went well Lua - when's the practical one?

I don't think my midwife likes me...last time I saw her was at 26 weeks and I'm not seeing her again until 25th April (34 weeks).

I wish I could blame this on the iron tablets but it's been happening for a while. Wind. Sorry.

uwila · 13/04/2005 16:32

Hi everyone. And welcome newcomers monkey and egg.

I've made a very weak and unimpressive attempt to read bits of this thread. I just can't keep up anymore. I've been busy on nanny threads.... ever so entertaining! But, anyway, just wanted to check in and say hello.

And, Lynny, OMG. Don't even know what to say. Leave the country. Just kidding. Your xMIL is weird. Just plain weird. Going through your maternity notes. Maybe you could stick some little note in their to her and see if she reads them next time she is over. Like a scan picture of spider monkey or something? Or surely you could get some good footage from an x-files episode.... oh like the one with the babies with tails.

Cooperoo · 13/04/2005 16:51

Hi all, lots of catching up to do
Lynny - What you had to go through is truly unbelieveable!! . You deserve a halo with that wonderwoman suit! Lua had the glucose test and Jonah has to have another one and I think Charley had one too??? Hope all is OK with it.
Jonah - Sorry about crap m/w appt. They def forget you are people and how concerned/excited pregnancy can make you at times because they see it every day. I loved my one appt with the doc last time as she made me feel so special and was excited for me. Hope the sugars are OK too. What a pain.
Mrs W at your booking in. How dreadful having to deal with that. And how impressed am I you are still going to the gym!
Trib - Hope you hear about the job soon!
Lua - Blimey good luck on your test. Hope all OK
Pink - Yippee for your washing machine. So glad you just got it. Good luck with your revision too.
KVG - Grr at S and lady in supermarket. People just feel they have to comment don't they.
Kat - I have been getting exactly the same comments as you ref size of bump. I feel I have to justify it and explain dd's weight etc every time. It is ridiculous. Incidentally I see the m/w every two weeks from now on and every week from 38 wks. I think this is OTT really but prefer that to not seeing anyone at all.
Red - Lol about apples comments. I have to confess that one of DH's biggest gripes is that I 'ask' him to do things by talking to dd ie Daddy's going to change your nappy now... etc. Awful aren't I?
Lippy - LOL about Charley and her buggy. Can you and DH still fit in the bath together ? I only just can with 2 yo dd.
Where is Uwila?
It is def hot here today and my ankles are the size of an elephants and a bit achey. Def time for feet up when dd goes to bed. Have hardly walked anywhere either. How I will maintain even the slightest bit of fitness I have no idea. I have had to take my wedding rings off too as my fingers are swollen.
I have done some of my ECDL today and have another session for tomorrow. I am determined to get it done in time. DD watched a film on bugs today at creche and apparently got very excited about it all. Her fave toy at the moment is her plastic frog. Then we had to watch the ants in the garden eating a dead lizard so she has had quite an educational day really. Wrote up the minutes of our meeting last night too so I am getting jobs done slowly.
Had little panic midday about the whole new baby thing esp giving birth....Seems very close now doesn't it and I still don't know where I will be having this baby or what my options will be. Still haven't done any lists for this baby either. Nag me please.
Bye or now.

Cooperoo · 13/04/2005 16:55

Well I took so bloody long I x posted with all of you!!! Have to get dd to bed now. Hi Uwila, good to see you.

teabelly · 13/04/2005 16:59

OMG Lynny!!!! am flabbergasted...speechless. Am so glad for you that you found your DH, what a Bastard your ex was!!! You should meet my sister I think you'd have sooooo much in common...so glad it's all worked out tho...yu do get respite now don't you?? If not I could speak to my sis as she has somewhere my niece goes for a weeks holiday every year, not much but something at least

..... well I don't need to have the talk with the big boss about my pay review/bonus situ, or the implied 'resourcing' cuts, as I've just been given a letter that informs me they will probably make me redundant at the end of my OML if they can't find anything else which means they won't find anything else and I will be made redundant...just have to try and tell DH now...God I wish I could have a bloody brandy!!!!

uwila · 13/04/2005 17:10

Aw Tea, that's terrible. So sorry. Hey, are you interested in a live-in nanny position? Just kidding!

Can they do that? It sounds like awfully dodgy ground. Weren't you talking to a solicitor friend? What do you do? Can you easily get another job?

Coop- thanks for missing me.

JonahB · 13/04/2005 17:17

Lua - congrats on your theory test success. Yes, they test it with a sample. This is the third time its come back positive, but on the other 2 occasions, it has been negative on the second test they do, 2 days later (coincidentally, when I stop eating chocs).

Oh Lynny, what a nightmare for you. I agree, Wonder Woman spangly outfit is all yours....I'm glad your now with a man who treats you better than that.

Mrs Wed . I want to do that too! Next person who asks, I'll say that i'm not prgt and look really hurt. That is so funny!!
I am so shocked at your MW's comments. Speaking from experience here, that must be so hurtful and upseting.

Tea, I'm so sorry about your news. Like Uwila says, can they do that? Are there other redundency's or just yours?

Oh Tea, I am very sorry. Don't know what to say other than it does sound very dubious. Hopefully your solicitor friend will be able to help?

Have got to rush off now, have a good evening everyone.

tribpot · 13/04/2005 18:51

Tea, sorry to hear your news. Hope you can get a clearer picture of the situation soon. Redundancy can be a good thing but it's hardly what you want just now, is it?

No news from me, I'm having a Mr KVG moment and assuming that means I haven't got the job, but hey ho.

Lynny, Uwila's suggestion is spot on. That should shock ex-MIL!

Coop, sorry to hear you've been having a bit of a panic about your birth options, I saw your other thread. I think I'd favour the "oh dear, I seem to have left it too late" approach so you can stick with the midwife you know. It's a shame you can't come back to the lovely county of Suffolk - mind you, I dunno if you'd rather have Ipswich General with its quality painkillers (but MRSA) over your local hospital.

bubbaloo · 13/04/2005 20:20

evening all,
have had a quick read of todays posts as seeing as everyones having a "grrrrrrrrrrrrr" moment thought i'd add mine.still having absolute nightmare with abbey national over my accounts being cloned.got in tonight only to find yet another letter from them sticking to their decision not to refund me my £1,500 which was fraudalently taken as they still dont believe me
i am soooooo mad with them but the annoying thing is i cant prove i didnt give my pin number to anyone and now ive got all the extra hassle of filling out more forms and complaining to the financial ombudsman which can take upto 6 months for them to investigate further
wouldnt it be great if we didnt need banks and cards?!!!
anyway...sorry for the moan-just so p*ed off!!
pink-glad your machine is up and running.sounds great having a washer/drier
jonah-sorry to hear about your app today.my doc also has trouble finding the heartbeat sometimes which can be a worry.
as for large bumps-i feel and look absolutely huge but depending on what im wearing , sometimes i think i just look fat which is rather annoying!
when i went to my doc's the other day he said to me that ive put on quite a bit of weight(only about 21lbs!!)and when i disagreed he said "no i mean on your thighs!" i couldnt believe it-as if ive got control over where the weight is distributed

teabelly · 13/04/2005 20:40

Sorry had to dash off home there, thanks for all the messages girls

Unfortunately they're clever little wankers (sorry venting my frustrations here). Our jobs are project driven, and my current project is coming to an end as I go on leave. They have cleverly worded the letter to say that at the moment all being the same in 6 mths they don't have anything for me...they will endeavour to find me something when I'm due to return (bullshit bullshit), but if they can't then I will be made redundant in November. They can't officially do it now as they don't know what will be available in 6 mths and to do it now would be tantamount to sexual distcrimination. Unfortunately I'm sure this is actually a money issue and not a preggy thing (I'm only 3 days and they kind of 'inherited' me from a takeover on my current salary - better than most of there 5 dayers). So I shall speak to my solicitor friend over the weekend anyway and see what slants we can put on this, but I'm not sure it will get me anywhere...hey ho, I've decided that God's definitely male!!!

Bubb - so sorry to hear about your ongoing woes with the Abbey - I tell you what I'll get my witch friend to make a voodoo doll of both my boss and your bank manager...at least we could get some fun out of all of this

Best go and read DS his bedtime story...poor little mite, has no idea why mummy's been very short with him tonight - then I think I'll crack open a bottle of wine and have a glass, or maybe two...bollocks!

Lua · 13/04/2005 20:56

Oh Tea, so sorry to hear about your job!!!
I hope you can do something to them with the help of the solicitor! Or at least with your voodoo doll!
Who knows, maybe in the end this will mean a better job in the future?!

I'll drink a virtual glass with you!

teabelly · 13/04/2005 21:01

Back from story time - god I love Mr Men books - soooo short!

Lua - thanks honey - hope you like red!! cheers! Oh and congrats on the test today - practical/theory who cares, always nice to pass any exam

bubbaloo · 13/04/2005 21:07

oh how awful tea-dont think any of us are having much luck at the mo!
why dont you try and ring acas and ask their advice re:the job.
ive spoken to them in the past when i was due to be made redundant and they are really helpfull AND easy to get through to over the phone, which is always a bonus

teabelly · 13/04/2005 21:14

Thanks Bubb - will do. My main prob at the mo is as they haven't officially done the deed yet I can't actually make a complaint yet...but I will see what ACAS have to say - thanks ...right off to find that wine bottle...catch you all tomorrow

charleypops · 14/04/2005 00:10

Hi everyone! - Goodness what a lot of posts! Had to do a bit of a scan... Haven't had chance to post as; LIPPY, YOU ARE AMAZING - yesterday I spent hours grouting/dog walking then fell asleep. Got pushchair though - oo it's so exciting and spent ages fiddling with that! .
Went to my first ever ante natal class today - it was reassuring how everyone seemed to be in their 30's or 40's - I was a bit worried it would be full of youngsters making me feel old! took doggie out for a long one today as well. Got in, sat for a moment on the sofa and woke up 3 hours later still in my coat!

Welshie and Katz are breech atm too! Thought I was on my own! the mw at the ante-natal today said that at 28 weeks more babies are breech than not and about 50% of women are breech at our stage (30-31 weeks), so I don't think we should be worrying too much. Welshie as you're having a cs anyway, I really wouln't pay it any attention. I've got a feeling Pod's going to remain breech for some reason though - I'd rather have a cs than an inversion !

Scraggy - nice to see you back posting regularly again! When you off to Mallorca? I've always wanted to go - Deya in particular. Hope the weather's nice for you.

KVG - CAT me and I'll send you my birthplan if you like Poor you with those thoughtless comments about your bump - some people! honestly! My regular waiter at our local curry place said I looked tired the other evening - I felt great!! Love your "butt baby" comment - I might keep that one up my sleeve!

Lynny - poor you for Tuesday! Hope you don't have too many of those days. Sorry she's still off school, hope she's better tomorrow! Lol at your naked somnambulism (sp?) Your ex mother in law sounds like she can be a bit annoying with her nosiness and familiarity - I guess she has known you from practically a child though and so she probably feels like you're her own daughter in a way - her ways certainly sound like normal mothery irritations I so know what you mean about needing a mother figure in your life - all the more now I'm pg. I wish mine would get over herself and show just a little bit of interest... Do you think your ex MIL might be useful when you have your new little one? helping out/babysitting and stuff? Are your family showing any interest in this one?? That is awful What a nightmare about your ex dh and lack of respite - do you get any now?? Your dh sounds so lovely. I did the blood sugar test just the other day - it's called the GTT. Good luck! You have to have your blood taken after fasting overnight just before you have the drink, then 2 hours later to see how your body dealt with it. They like you stay on the premises during those two hours because if you are diabetic, you'll be woosey. I felt weird and I didn't have diabetis - it's just such a huge load of glucose on an empty tummy it would make anyone feel strange. BTW - no, not everyone manages - I have a friend who's family put his SN brother into a home for instance.

Lua - so pleased you can eat choccy! Is it that diabetic stuff?

Jonah - what a crap MW visit -especially the heartbeat thing. When you going for your sugar test?

Pink - congratulations on your new washing machine - can't wait til we get ours next week

Tea - So you're being made redundant? Omg! Sounds like they've got themselves covered too Hope you get a decent pay off.

Bubbaloo - I'm so angry for you being treated so badly by the bank - I do hope you can sort them out. Bastards.

Uki · 14/04/2005 04:58

HI All
Bubaloo your doc sounds very rude, commenting on thighs can't really be medical protocol.
There was once a really rude dr that we knew, he said to my dad "I wouldn't like to be your friend, you have one foot in the grave already" and he told me at 15 that a girl that looked like me should be on the pill, even though i was sitting their in my catholic high school uniform and had gone to see him re. tonsillitis and told another friend that she hadn't done much with her life. Don't know who he thought he was!!!

I have a busy weekend this weekend. I am turning the big 30 on Saturday. I am starting the day by having some portrait photos done in the morning then taking 18 friends to lunch, then driving to the country for a wedding!!!

Will be a memorable birthday, with all that.
Can't wait
Bye for now

Cooperoo · 14/04/2005 05:30

Hi
Uki - You weekend sounds fun. HAPPY BIRTHDAY from me in case I forget.
Tea - Nightmare on the job thing. . Hope you get some good advice from some people. Sounds dodgy to me too.
Lua - Well done on passing yay!
Lynny - You deserve that man, what a darling!
Trib - Hope you hear today about the job.
Bubb - What a nightmare about the Abbey. That is too much money to lose esp when a baby is due soon. Also how rude of your doc. How does he know how big your thighs were? Can he really remember? Like we have a choice where our bodies lay down their fat supplies in pregnancy. I am not assuming that he is right but all my weight seems to be on my butt and thighs. My jeans were too small very early on not at the waist but at the thighs .
I am going to have to spend some money on some maternity clothes after all (have had a lot given to me ) as it has got so hot here very quickly and I have nothing really suitable.
My 'cankles' became ankles again after a cold plunge bath and two hours in the air. DH was a bit concerned as I hadn't even done any walking yesterday!
Lol at Charley falling asleep with her coat on. I am sure I did something similar last time! Hope you felt better for your rest....

JonahB · 14/04/2005 07:44

Morning all,

Aw, Lynny, your DH sounds lovely.

Uki, happy birthday for Sat!! sounds like you've got a lovely day planned for yourself, albeit alcohol free..

Bubb, your dr said that! How rude!!! How on earth is that medical advice, let alone his business to pass judgement on?

Charley, I can understand the just dropping off thing. LOL at still having your coat on though. If I need to sleep, I close my eyes and wake up at least an hour later from a really deep sleep. Unfortunately, this doesn't happen too much at night . The long walk bit is something I dont fully understand at the moment though . I have nothing but admiration for your energy levels.

tribpot · 14/04/2005 08:18

Morning all!

Uki - HAPPY BIRTHDAY for the weekend! You'll certainly remember it (particularly since you can't drink anything to forget it!)

Tea - I just don't buy that excuse from your company at all. Surely it's true of any of their employees that they may not be on chargeable work in six months' time. Have they made them all aware that if there's no work available in December they could be at risk of redundancy? (Don't worry, I already know the answer to that one). At my old firm, you were pretty much always at risk for the chop if you were off charge for too long (one reason why I could never understand why any of them stuck it as permie employees given they had the same risks as I did as a contractor but half the pay). It's just basic resource management, if you went on holiday at the end of a project would they make you redundant if there was no project available the day you came back?!

Bubb - your doctor needs a kick up the arse in my view. Bet he doesn't pass judgement on the size of his male patients' thighs. As to the Abbey, I can't understand why they are being such a pain. Other people I know who've been the victim of identity fraud have had the dosh refunded immediately whilst the investigation goes on. If it will help at all, I can post on The Motley Fool about your case, a lot of experts there. CAT me if I can help.

teabelly · 14/04/2005 08:48

Morning girls,

Trib - I know where you're coming from!!! Unfortunately half the firm are litigation lawyers so I'm sure they've done some home-work on it ...however there's a project coming up in Jan and the project 'owner' had wanted me to work on it, provided I'm suitable if they appoint it to someone else I can have them over that Luckily for me they don't know that I've been spoken to about the project yet! Charley - no pay off just SMP whilst I'm off and they can't officially lay me off, then holiday due and stat redundancy of a whopping £280 for every full year (only got 1 as a permie, but did contract for a year before so may have addl year there too), woohoo!

Uki - in case I don't get the chance to sign on before the weekend happy birthday for saturday

On a good note (fingers crossed, don't want to speak too soon) our boiler speciallist is coming today so with any luck I'll have some heat by tonight, hurrah (always hoping I haven't jinxed it now by saying that, he he he )

Charley - yeah for pram arriving...sooooo what's the next big item ?

Lynny good luck with your GTT test today, hope it all goes well

Right off now to spend a small fortune calling Australia and wishing my baby brother a happy birthday...and explaining why I've still got his card in my hand!

Have a good day all, hope to catch you later, x

MrsWednesday · 14/04/2005 09:47

Happy birthday for Saturday Uki!!! Blimey, sober for the big 3-0...you'll have to make up for it once the baby arrives. Sounds like you've got a fun day planned though.

Bubb, perhaps you could write to a newspaper with your tale of woe - I was just reading the Observer Money section whilst eating breakfast this morning, and it has a page where people write in to name and shame companies who mess their customers about. It seems to get results. They are being truly outrageous. Almost as outrageous as your doctor...I was when I read what he said.

Glad your ankles have gone back to normal size Cooperoo!

Still keeping my fingers crossed for your job Trib.
