Morning all
Lynny - I second everything everyone said before about how strong and brave you are and have been. Great news about dbumps readings etc and how lovely the staff are at the hospital. You must feel a bit more relaxed about things now and I hope that the GTT results come back with a positive result (for you not for Gestational Diabetes). We want a negative result really don't we?
Tea - Yay about the heating. At last. Was it really that simple? How could your plumber miss that?
Lummox - I would go to France, but I would discuss it with your midwife first. I am not really sure I am the right person to take advice from though. My only tip would be to come home as soon as you feel a 'bit funny'. I had a feeling things were going to happen with dd for a while before anything did. Statistically you are unlikely to go into labour three weeks early and the rest and relaxation will do you good IMO. How do you cope with the temptation of all those 'banned' cheeses though!!
Bubb - I hope your ankles are OK today. It was quite a shock for me. My friend here is expecting twins two weeks after me and has beautiful small (boney) ankles still. She has twice the bump I do too!
Pink - Oh dear about the freezer. I hope you haven't lost too much stuff. I love snickers ice creams but they are off limits for me because of the peanut thing. I will be sticking to the Mars ones, or a good old fashioned Magnum. mmm
Charley - Which pushchair did you go for in the end? I still really recommend the hire kit for nappies from \link{http://www.eco-babes.co.uk\eco-babes to have a good go with different ones before you spend your money. The nappy lady is great for second hand bargains though and UKP has a good buy and sell.
I took dd shopping yesterday for some new sandals. £30 Cypriot . She does need them though. I spend more on her shoes than I do on anything for me. I actually felt very proud of myself as I found a maternity shop and bought a top in the sale for £10 and then found an ethnic/indian style shop and bought a great long floaty skirt with elastic waist for £10. I am particularly pleased with this purchase as it will be perfect after the baby is born too. I think I will go back for another one at some point.
I also finally wrote my list of essentials to have sorted by the time the baby is here. This is a real breakthrough. I think we will be OK but we certainly have more to get than DH or I thought.
Well dd is playing with her breakfast now so I had better retrieve it sharpish.

Morning all,
I'm 'working from home' today. Ha.
Just couldn't face the tube and was a bit knackered so decided to be kind to me. Probably need a quietish day in preparation for dd's birthday tomorrow - everything seems in hand though. I have to stop myself from buying her loads of stuff - the urge to spoil her is huge.

Hello all
Lynny you were up early!!
Welshie - It is hard not to get them things isn't it. I love buying dd new toys. ELC is my fave shop. We have a lot of the Happy land stuff because I decided I liked it . Thankfully dd does too.
Went for coffee at my friends who is moving today and was very sad. Their house is all packed up and the removals are in on Wed (they go at the end of May but the stuff has to get back to the UK) It hit home that they are going seeing the house like that . I will miss her alot!
DD just fell asleep in her highchair. She didn't even manage a nap yesterday. So cute. Of course I have put her in bed now and she is wide awake singing to herself. How do they do that?
DH is now home so I am off for now....

Cooperoo · 15/04/2005 11:47

OMG - I can hardly believe the story from that link. To get it to work you need to knock the } off the end. Have you listened to the audio?? Actually I don't recommend that it sounds a bt panicky to say the least. Made me feel a bit nervous. Lets just say her Mum was a screamer!

Hi
I think I am on your time at the moment. I have just been putting little launded baby clothes in draws even though the room is complete chaos and the painting isn't finish yet.
THANKS for all the birthday greetings, yes i think my sedate 30th birthday lunch will be more memorable than my girlfriends all night drunken and drugged out raging birthday night last weekend. I only stayed for 1 hour of that.

Hi everyone
Thank god it's Friday eh?!!!

I haven't posted much lately and I'm not going to bother catching up, I'll end up writing an essay.

Thank god your buggy arrived Charley It was touch 'n' go for a while there!

Where's Uwila these days?? I haven't seen here around? Has she foresaken us in favour of the May ladies, it's getting close after all!! HOpe you're well Uwila anyway.

Uki, Happy 30th Birthday !! I also spent my 30th pregnant, it's not great!!

Happy Birthday to Welshie's dd too, will she be 3?? What a big girl!

Lynny, can only echo what everyone else has said on here about your situation. You sound like a very, very fab mum and totally sorted human being, all things considered; 'big respect' to you, is what, I believe, the young people say

Even though we are far from being 'ready' for the new baby, I am so excited!! Apart from being shit scared about various things, anyone else really excited to see their new little baby???

I have to go and do some constructive things... ciao!

tribpot · 15/04/2005 12:55

Afternoon ladies, just popping in quickly to say I still haven't heard about that job. Emailed the HR woman but got her Out of Office reply, sigh.

Bubba - The Motley Fool . Very good personal finance website, definitely worth asking your question there.

Welshie, enjoy your day at home!

Cooperoo · 15/04/2005 13:01

i have just watched the news and they had the family from the link on. They ran the phone call too but must have altered it as you couldn't hear the mum in the background.
Uki - Hello, you have inspired me to sort out the new babies clothes now. Good to hear from you during the day. Does that mean you are up really late??
Lippy - Hello, glad you are excited. I am going through phases of excitement and total fear . Getting more excited now I am trying to organise a few things and making shopping lists etc. Last time at the very end I was just totally excited and not worried about the birth or how we would cope really. I am hoping the same thing will happen again. I am keen to get on with things IYKWIM.
KVG - LOL that is exactly what she is doing. She sings the Peter Pointer tune but with totally random words. V funny. She has finally dropped off now.

Cooperoo · 15/04/2005 13:03

Hi Trib - How frustrating about the job. Sigh. This could sum the NHS up though....

Awww poor you KVG. I hope you are feeling better now, or at least a bit calmer. The size of your bump doesn't really reflect the size of your baby at all. Even scans are notoriously inaccurate. My friend was told to expect a 10lbs baby after scans and had a healthy 8lb 8 baby boy two weeks ago. I had a small bump and was told to expect a 6lb baby and got an 8lb 7 dd. There was a great thread on somewhere about 'does a big bump mean a big baby' I remember reading it. The upshot was no. Perhaps it will help to put your mind at ease a bit. I will see if I can find it. Hormones are playing a large part in things too. Please try not to worry. I have heard alot of people say that bigger babies are easier to birth as they are stronger and more able to help themselves out and also they generally feed better and sleep a bit better too as they can fill a bigger tummy and so last longer between feeds so if you have a big baby it is a good thing too. (Of course there are always exceptions). I hope this helps a bit and sorry for waffling. Comments are often worse coming from someone you are so close too. And it is worth all the pain I promise. Having dd is just the best thing in the world. One of the first things my Mum said when she came to see dd and I was 'Now you know just how much I love you' and she was right. It is quite overwhelming, at least it was for me and worth everything.

Hi everybody!
Back from another appt.... Another scan where everything is normal, so I shoud be very glad! However.... first saw a doctor who told me, Ok lets talk about your induction date. We don't want baby over 38 weeks.. This would be in 4 weeks!!! Then, consultant came in and said, No, we'll keep an eye on it and wait until due date. Since consultant said what I wanted to heear, got out with her point of view. But... now I'm wondering if I am not being over hang up on natural birth and compromising baby safety.... argh! decisions, decisions! Don't know hwat to do!

KVG - don't worry about the size of your bump. It has very little correlation withbaby size! I haven't gained an ounce in the last month and people at work have been commenting that bump is getting smaller! Yet, baby continues to be on the 80 centile!! People grow their bellies completely different!

Trib - Sorry that you haven't got an answer from the job!!!

Coop - Finally manage to get your package off today! Sorry it took me so long! Let me know when you get it since I decided not to register or anything.... Hope baby enjoys the sling!
