Just popping on to update. MW came out at lunchtime and was lovely. She's made an appointment for me with the doctor who treated my pnd after having Erin (v helpful doc, it's kinda her speciality area though she's just a gp iyswim) and mw is going to come to the appointment too so we can all discuss the best way forward. MW is also contacting the supervisor at the hospital to go through my notes from the last birth and talk them over - although I made a complaint at the time there were bits of the reply that I wasn't very happy with and I think this person is going to really help me to get all the answers I wanted. She's also brought me a book to look at that has sections on art therapy and stuff (it's a birth book but goes into the emotional side of stuff). I'm hoping to not need ADs right away and see if talking at the hospital helps me - I want to see if I'm down because it's so near the date of the birth before just saying I'm depressed.

YanknbeforetheCockcrows · 03/04/2009 17:37

Holy crap!! I just had a kick that I'm sure could be felt on the outside!

Crafty, totally with you on the antenatal depression. I just started Citalopram yesterday (2 months of fluoxetine did nothing). I hope you can get by without the ADs if that's what you want to do. Also know what you mean about being lonely. I have exactly two real friends in the UK and they are both in London with lives of their own. We've been up north for a year now and I still don't know anyone here. Well, not strictly true, my stupid XH moved to Manchester (20 min away) at the same time, but we aren't exactly friendly.

ame, hope things settle with DP's ex soon.

kitkat, thanks for all the advice.

Was feeling slightly better today, then got a letter from work and a copy of the 'managing attendance policy'. Basically they are trying to discipline me for being off sick, even though they KNOW it's pregnancy-related. Called ACAS helpline, got some helpful advice, will call union on Monday.

BabyBump2B · 03/04/2009 18:39

Hi All!

So glad its the weekend - I've got a rotton cold coming on. Why oh why do people come into work sick only to make other people sick?

Crafty - I'm so sorry to hear you're down. Glad the midwife was helpful and you're getting the attention you deserve!

Ame - Ex's must be a nightmare - but you sound like you're being level headed and grown up about it (unlike her!)

Yank - Hooray for kicks - they're my favourite part of being pregnant so far!

Also I'm an Emily! So obviously highly approve of the name! We've got a solid short list of boys names but are so far apart on girls names its a nightmare.

Oh and I've been assigned a story for work about 3D ultrasounds so will be getting one for free next week so hopefully we'll get to find out the gender next week!

Have a great weekend everyone!

nellyup · 03/04/2009 19:29

crafty sorry to hear you're feeling rough (and everyone else who is not having such a good time of it). Glad to hear your mw and gp seem good though. I can say from personal experience how much it helps going over a traumatic birth with the health professional and trying to set things straight in your own head. I didn't really forgive myself for my dd's birth until the day before my ds was born. In fact I'm pretty sure that was what kicked off labour (he was 10 days late by then).

But all of a sudden everything just fell into place and I realised that what had gone wrong was a set of circumstances I couldn't control at the time and that if I had a second c-section it would not be the end of the world, I'm a strong girl and I would pick myself up and get on with loving my baby. As it happened, everything went fine and I had a lovely home VBAC but if I hadn't I'd given myself permission to be peed off but accept it. Like I say though, it took me months to get there so I feel for you, I really do.

Names wise ours are selected but they're secret, even from the dcs! We've never told anyone our choices, saves all the hassles from grandparents etc.

Anyone doing anything nice over school holidays? We're off to Yorkshire for a caravan holiday. I am sooooo looking forward to it but better do some packing or we'll never get away.

Good weekend everyone!

Mellin · 03/04/2009 19:42

Hi Al,

Not been on for awhile and have been scanning back over the thread to see what I have missed.

Sorry to hear some are having a hard time, crafty and ame I hope things look up for you soon.

I have been busy over the past few weeks as we have moved and decided to tackle potty training with DD at about the same time. Probably not the wisest decision in retrospect, it has taken her a couple of weeks but we are finally getting there.

Oh, and I had my 21 week scan and am having a boy! So will have one of each. The scan was fantastic, the baby was moving loads and I had a wonderful sonographer (? don't know if that is right title) who spent lots of time showing me what the baby was up to. Cheeky begger kept flashing us his willy, so no doubts that he is male!

Now we know the sex I need to start thinking of names and come up with some fantastic ideas, as DH has his heart set on a name that I really don't like! Yikes, let the battle over names commence.

Out of interest, anyone else on this thread in London and having their baby at Queen Charlotte?

Haribosmummy · 03/04/2009 20:25

Haha! mellin Typical male!!!

I'm in London, but going to The Portland.

LittleFairySmile · 03/04/2009 21:43

Hi all, sorry some of you are having such a rough ride. My thoughts are with you all.

OonaghBhuna · 03/04/2009 22:42

Crafty- Im an Art Therapist......if you have any questions about it, let me know...

Im having a crappy night, we took our cat to the vet tonight and he has kidney failure So he is going in for treatment for 48hrs, if it doesnt work there is nothing they can do, if it does work he might survive for a year at most Im gutted, he is 14 and he was born in my Dads house. So I have had him longer than my DH! I just feel very sad.

kitkatqueen · 03/04/2009 22:54

ameNbump

Sorry!!!!!!! didn't mean to upset u!!

kitkatqueen · 03/04/2009 23:01

Crafty If it makes you feel any better I have driving issues when I'm pregnant too. I have also been on a thread quite a while ago where people were listing all the things they worry about during pregnancy - it was pretty long and lots of people had driving anxiety.

Don't know if that helps or not...

TaleofTwoCities · 04/04/2009 17:40

Hi haven't had a chance to catch up but just wanted to say sorry about your cat Oonagh. Our cat has renal problems too, got diagnosed a year ago and spent about 5 days in the vets on dialisys (can't spell that!) He's now on special diet and has tablets every day and it has kept his condition fairly stable. So there may be hope, although it sounds as though your cat might be more critical if they've said a year. Lots of hugs anyway, it's a shock...

Crafty - I'm having car anxieties too, both about us travelling by car as a family (next weekend long motorway journey) and when the grandparents take the kids out whilst I'm working. It must be pregnancy related...

Hope everyone's having a good weekend, kids are painting and I can hear dh trying to sort out the mess so better go!

BumpVLump · 04/04/2009 22:14

Oonagh sorry about your cat. It makes me so sad and its not even my cat. Emotions are all over the shop, you must be finding it even worse to deal with.
I am just hating driving in my car at the mo- glad to see Im not the only worrier.
Is anyone else REALLY uncomfy in the car too? I am wondering how Im going to take my drive to work when I get bigger. I get so stiff, so uncomfy no matter how much I change the seat angle... and whoever invented the seat belt was definately not a woman with breasts... and certainly not pregnant!
Big hugs to all who need um
xx

kitkatqueen · 04/04/2009 22:25

bumpvlump Have you tried a maternity seatbelt? I don't drive without one, they make seat belts much more comfortable and MUCH safer for mum and baby.

www.hi-baby.co.uk/acatalog/Pregnancy_Travel_Safety.html

still no good at doing links so sorry hope it work if u copy and paste it...

kitkatqueen · 04/04/2009 22:31

If you hunt around you can get ones which go either side of your legs and so you can wear a skirt....depends on what suits you..

YanknbeforetheCockcrows · 05/04/2009 05:37

Adding insomnia to my list of pregnancy complaints!

It's 5:30am, and I've still not slept. Seems like it's gotten worse every night this past week. Tempted to try to stay awake all day and go to sleep early in evening just to get some normality back.....

but not sure I can make it now

kitkatqueen · 05/04/2009 21:02

Hey Yank, fancy coming over to do a night shift for me???

plllease!!

BumpVLump · 05/04/2009 21:26

Thanks Kitkatqueen I'll give that a shot.
I am working till 2 am tonight
.....so feel your pain!
x

Haribosmummy · 05/04/2009 21:39

Oh Goodness!!! Anyone who can't sleep gets my absolute sympathy. I'm just terrible if I haven't had enough sleep - I can't function. I had to have a little sleep at lunchtime today when DS went for his nap.

I have NO CLUE how I'm going to manage with two babies!!!

I hope everyone gets a good nights sleep tonight.

HM

YanknbeforetheCockcrows · 05/04/2009 22:00

Well, I didn't manage to stay awake...finally slept sometime after 6am, woke at 7 and 9 (vague recollection of looking at clock), then was up at 12.

6 hours is not enough sleep for me...have noticed a distinct correlation between less than 8-9 hours sleep and vomiting! That makes 3 times being sick this past week, which is better than every day (so trying to feel positive about it). Going to go up and try to sleep in a few minutes.

Sorry kitkat, it's a bit far to travel for the night!

MichaelaS · 06/04/2009 00:33

Hi all, sorry to hear some of you aren't sleeping well, hope it gets better soon. Sleeping is one thing i'm really good at, as i'm generally sleep deprived due to my lack of any sort of discipline in going to bed on time... not sure if that's a good thing or not.

We have our 2nd scan on Thursday, really looking forward to it, DP doesn't want to find out the sex but I do... so am hoping it will be obvious! is that bad? We totally can't agree on names, so it'd be nice to narrow the field to one gender too.

Anyone else had really bad digestion? I was in pretty bad pain all last weekend and for a few days in the week - it was really low down in my gut, almost in the pelvis. Definitely digestion related and not SPD or anything. Ended up taking laxatives which sorted it out after several days, seem a lot better now but it was not pleasant, especially when the baby kicked at all, it was just really uncomfortable.

anyway, all better now, and sounds like others are having a much more difficult time.

Is anyone else not putting on weight? I'm still at my pre-pregnancy weight, or down a pound or two. Lost about half a stone at the start, and haven't put it back on yet. Was about 2 stones overweight before so not too worried, just wondering if I should forcefeed myself a bit more?

happy easter everyone by the way!

ScummyMummy · 06/04/2009 03:41

My sleeping is a bit up the creek too! Hence posting time. But I quite like that sense of being up while all the rest of the house is peacefully slumbering. I suppose it's good practice for when the mewling puking up all night baby arrives... I have my scan on Thursday too, Michaela.

ameNbump · 06/04/2009 09:57

Hi all,

We don't have internet in our flat anymore, so I've just caught up with the weekend's posts. Thank you all so much for your lovely messages. HM It's really lovely to hear from someone who's been there, done that, and come out the other end.

I try and be so magnimous (SP???) about XP in real life, so it's nice to let of some steam about her in MN-life. Thank you all for being so supportive !

Babybump That's so exciting about the 3d scan...can't wait to hear about it.

Crafty Your MW sounds lovely. I'm glad things are starting to look positive now

Kitkatqueen It was crying in a good "Wow...I'm going to be a mummy" kind of way!!

ameNbump · 06/04/2009 09:59

I meant magnanamous (although i'm still not sure how to spell it)...I do realise magnimous isnt even a word How embrassing! (note to self...press preview before post!!)

craftynclothy · 06/04/2009 10:02

I had the insomnia for a while too but then it just disappeared one night so fingers crossed you're all back to sleeping well soon.

Got dd's 2 year check this morning - I'm only going for the free books really.

Feeling happier here after a good weekend but have appointment with doc & mw this afternoon to discuss things.

I am having total baby brain...made dh take me to a place yesterday where dd has a new baby group thing today. I was planning to pack bag last night so I remembered red book for 2 year check straight after etc when dh comes through saying "You don't have baby group tomorrow, the letter says it starts on the 20th" I'd only read the letter on Sat morning.
