BabyBump2B · 13/03/2009 20:42

Thanks so much ameNbump & Haribosmummy - I feel a bit of a wimp because its only two weeks and I used to live on my own! But apparently the whole pg thing has made me a big suck! Feel terrible that you two have to put up with this regularly!

ameNbump · 13/03/2009 21:36

You are not a wimp at all... It seems being pregnant is tougher than it looks (maybe i should have thought about that before i "got up the duff" as my colleague so helpfully pointed out!!!), and being pregnant on your own is extra tough, it doesn't matter how long for!...Thank god for MN, that's what I say!!!

kitkatqueen · 14/03/2009 00:24

Nutty

GRR GRR and double GRRRRRR!!!!! Why is it that people who are family think that they can say what they want, do as they please - turn on the waterworks and get away with whatever the hell they like????

Please don't let it get to you - I regularly get treated like crap and when I eventually think thats it - ENOUGH - and make a stand I get abuse from the rest of the family about how I've "upset Mother" or "made things awkward for the sisters". Never any bloody consideration for how I have been getting gradually more upset for months or my feelings!!!

Sorry everyone else who is in happy fluffy pregnancy mode I know that was a bit of a tirade but grrrr... it is horrible and nutty you are not alone on this one.

Congratulations to all those who have had wonderful news and fingers crossed to all those who are waiting!!

Had my 16 week m/wife check up (a week l8)and got to hear babies heartbeat etc. I have been bleeding a lot on and off lately so it was nice to have the reassurance. Just in case anyone does spark up with a bleed it can be totally normal so don't instantly stress, just ring your m/wife and you can have an extra scan to check alls well, I didn't bother because for me its normal

Night everybody - i'm for bed!!

ameNbump · 14/03/2009 13:20

where has everyone gone...Am feeling v.v. sorry for myself...it seems bedrest is not quite as great as i'd hoped! Rubbash! Hope you're all having a better Saturday.

A x

sarah76 · 14/03/2009 13:58

Back to barfing on waking and on entering kitchen. Only eating macaroni and cheese. Surely this can't be good. If the kid comes out jaundiced, it will probably be due to the amount of Yellow Dye No 5 I've consumed.

DH went out last night, I dropped him off and picked him up at a pub 20 minutes away. Was nice that he had a pub companion (a former teacher he recently found on facebook). We used to go to the pub together, do the quiz, etc and he would come in while I was working there. I think he misses it, poor thing. I could have joined them, but decided the smell of booze would have me puking in the ladies all night. As it was, I threw up from DH's booze breath!

Oh when will this be over......

Haribosmummy · 14/03/2009 14:29

ameNBump - it's horrid when you are looking forward to something and then it's not as good as you thought isn't it? I always get excited at the idea of curling up with an old film, but once watching it, I get bored, cos I've seen it before!!! I always like to tool around Ebay when I'm in bed though... I can while away many hours there! Oh, and Flickr and Etsy (and, of course, MN!!!)

sarah - Sorry you are feeling so rough. I hope it passes soon!

Dh and I have been out for a long walk this morning with DS and Ddog. Stopped off at a pub for lunch and then walked home again... DH has gone for a lie down now (effects of 3 pints of lager!!) so DS and I are going to do a bit of retail therapy!!!

TaleofTwoCities · 14/03/2009 16:23

ameNbump - sorry to hear bedrest is not as wonderful as advertised. I always think lying down with a good book sounds like the idea of bliss but as soon as I am faced with space to do nothing I get bored and restless. Grass is greener I suppose.

Mamamila - what brilliant news, you must be so relieved.

Sarah - surely there must be an end to sickness soon! I quite fancy the macaroni cheese myself actually.

As for me, seem to have managed to exhaust myself. Took ds and dd to Coral reef yesterday, big waterworld place. Great but tiring, trying to ensure that neither drowned!! DS at 4.9 is still on the nervous side in the pool (despite swimming lessons) but dd at 2.4 is fearless and gets this swimming pool look of determination on her face! It was great fun though. Trying to fit in as many cheap toddler 'during the week' events before DS starts school. Realised he only has 5 more weeks so purchased uniform this morning. Looked v. cute with it on. Got home and had row with DH about nothing much and then cried. Def tired and hormonal and missing my sister who moved to Australia recently. I can cry at the drop of a hat these days.

Have good weekends everyone

LittleFairySmile · 14/03/2009 22:55

So many people on here having a rough time - my thoughts are with you all. Rotten people making rotten comments for no real reason at all. Some really selfish people in the world, thank goodness for MN!!!

Hawkmoth · 15/03/2009 12:03

Hope everyone's feeling a bit better today. Overdid it a bit yesterday and so have had to do some very undignified exercises in front of DP to release my back! It's not good being on all fours arching my back... for no good reason

Now that I am a bit better, I'm starting to feel guilty that DP is having to do everything round the house... but if I do start doing more housework there's a risk that I'll do my back and pelvis in again and be back to square one. It's a tough balance, especially when DP is really tiring himself out!

DD has a horrid cough which means she's going to bed about half six, up at half eleven for more medicine, coughing all night and in our room three times. We're all a bit knacked and grumpy, but at least the sun is shining!!!

Clairedaz · 15/03/2009 15:57

Good afternoon to all.

Due 14th August and just plucked up courage to post as 18w+6 having anomoloy scan on Wednesday and still nervous.

Have had 3 mmc in last 18 months and even though had last growth scan at 16w and all ok still nervous.

I'm sure I feel the odd movement - can't explain it but sure its junior.

Can only wear maternity clothes and have heartburn and finding it uncomfortable to sleep.

LittleFairySmile · 15/03/2009 16:27

Hi Clairedaz - good luck for scan on Wed. It must have been a hard 18 months! Take the discomfort and odd feelings as a good sign!!! Keep well, same to everyone else here!

Hawkmoth · 15/03/2009 16:31

Welcome Clairedaz Sorry to hear about your losses, and hope you can soon start to relax, albeit just a bit.

You probably ARE feeling movements. I have been for a few weeks, though this is my second. I'm 18+ summat and the last couple of days the baby's been moving quite vigourously at different times of the day.

Also can only wear maternity clothes, though most of that is due to getting trapped wind.

ScummyMummy · 15/03/2009 18:48

Movements are great aren't they? Mine likes music! S/he kicked rhythmically to Nina Simone yesterday. Partner and sons don't believe me because only I like Nina Simone but it's truuuuue- so then they said s/he was kicking because s/he hated Nina Simone. But they are wrong, wrong, wrong. At last, a baby with taste and discernment who likes Nina!

ScummyMummy · 15/03/2009 18:51

Sorry- meant to say welcome, Clairedaz. Hope your scan is a lovely reassuring experience after all the difficulties you've had.

ameNbump · 15/03/2009 21:28

welcome clairedaz will be thinking of you on weds.

Am a bit envious of you all. Have had what i think is a couple of flutters, but not much...still, am only 16 weeks!

haribosmummy did you see my message on my step-parenting post?..seems we may have had a bit of a break through!!

Hope you all had a good weekend...ive managed to keep nothing down sinse friday morning, despite the bloomin bedrest...tell me it'll get better

xx

ameNbump · 15/03/2009 21:29

i can't spell sinse since ( i think thats right???)

Got through today without barfing! Have only eaten macaroni & cheese and nachos at the cinema--cheap, processed fake crap is apparently the way to go. My mother is telling me to lay off the salt, but I luuuurrrrrvvvveeee it so much! Also made reference to me gaining too much weight, but as of yet haven't put on a pound, so am getting away with it. Gotta love mothers....especially when there is an ocean separating you.

nandos · 16/03/2009 02:14

hey everyone!
thought i'll update a bit today since i havent been here for quite some time

will be going for my 20wk scan later today so will know sex of the baby as well...hurray will update you ladies as soon as i get back home to my comp

sarah and the rest who still have ms up till now, i hope you get better soon..its tough but hopefully you'll all get through fine

take care all

Hawkmoth · 16/03/2009 09:11

How is everyone today? I've been at work sinec eight, noone else here yet! Lazy buggers! This must be the mythical burst of energy in the second trimester... I've remembered to bring enough food for three people today. Friday I ended up throwing up balls of foam firstly into a carrier bag and then outside the town hall on the way home from picking up the DSDs! I need to keep my food intake stable.

I'm so hairy! Scared myself in the shower today as the sunshine bounced off my belly. Serious fuzz, but I'm not going to get into removing it... stubble would be infinitely worse. Wonder if it means I'm having a boy...

DP felt the baby kicking outwards last night! That's pretty early at 18 weeks AFAIK but it was definitely junior. DD was an early and enthusiastic kicker as well, but I didn't have anyone to share it with... so it was quite an emotional moment for me.

Queenoftheharpies · 16/03/2009 09:28

Morning all,

I had a really vivid dream last night about being chased and pecked by a vicious stork!!

How's that for symbolism?

nuttygirl · 16/03/2009 10:38

lol @ being pecked by a stork

Hawkmoth - hairy here too. Cannot face shaving my legs. I usually wax but for some reason don't want to at all when I'm pregnant so umming and ahhing about whether to just go and get it done. I do have an electric trimmer thing that I used the other week.

Sarah - I'm wanting salt too. Salty chips, salty crisps...MMMMMM!

Nandos - good luck for the scan, hope baby lets you see it's bits

Had a lovely weekend here - took dd to Baby Ballet on Sat and to Soft Play on Sun (there's a soft play here for younger kids and it's lovely cos there aren't any big rough kids about!). Also did some shopping and got some new maternity clothes. I blame Tim Gunn cos I've been watching his Guide To Style and realising how slobby I look. Got a new pair of trousers and 3 tops from New Look - v impressed at the price. Tried some nice trousers on in Mothercare but they were too long and other stuff from there hasn't been v good quality so I decided I wasn't gonna pay £35 for a pair of trousers that I have to alter.

I also got a birth ball (well an exercise ball but the same thing) from TKMaxx, it was £7.99 instead of £22. I found it so helpful last time to sit on from about 30 weeks but I've lost the thing you push in to stop the air coming out .

Feeling fairly energetic here too today. Think it's maybe cos I got to have a lovely bath last night and do a face mask thing and put on nicer clothes today. Not sure how long the energy will last though .

My parents are coming on Weds and staying til Friday afternoon (at a b&b place). They're going to look after Erin while I have my scan cos they don't allow kids in.

mamamila · 16/03/2009 15:27

hi everyone,

well done sarah no puking! hope it continues...

hawkmoth and others with back/ pelvic pain/ spd can i put in another shout for the support belt. i've only tried mine on once but people say they're good.

hairy ball of energy here too..sort of!
the energy comes in spurts but i find by time we're ready to leave the house i'm already waning. the hair however is far more resistant.
we only have a shower - no bath very and i'm having trouble bending down to shave or lifting leg high enough for long enough..so not sure how much longer i'll manage. dp's resigned to all things hairy and unattractive but the wildly out of control 'lady garden' has now been referred to as an al quaida camp so enough to force me to attempt some trimming. i used to wax too but can't face it when pregnant.

booked a pedicure/ manicure/ facial for tommorrow and saw another pregnant woman relaxing in giant chair having feet done. roll on tomorrow.
i tried to look at maternity stuff in new look and dorothy perkins today but they were either upstairs or downstairs and dd was in pushchair. so annoying. i bought a lot of stuff in ghost - ridiculous clearance prices- not maternity but smocky things. i've come home exhausted and still need to get loads more stuff tomorrow. dp will be at home but refuses to take dd to toddler group as it's mostly mums so unhelpful!

looking forward to hearing about everyone's scans. the dr who did my amnio last week said likely a girl and it certainly looked like it from what i saw.

Haribosmummy · 16/03/2009 15:32

I'm almost envious of those of you with MS etc.,

I have NO symptoms at all, and I actually keep forgetting I'm PG at all.

I have an appt. with my consultant on Thursday so hopefully that will make things a bit more real... but it all seems so distant right now.

I still have no movements or bump [bump]

I'm dying to know if it's a boy or a girl... WIll make it seem a bit more real when I know that.

nandos · 16/03/2009 15:32

hey ladies..
am back from the hosp appt just now and the scan showed its a BOY!
it was difficult to see all the structures/bones in his body at first cos' hes in sitting position but then the sonographer tilted here and there to make him shift and so get to see his tinky winky too

got to get some rest as its late here..will update the list some other time

take care all..
