The other thread was too long and wouldn't let me add a new message.

I am 8+3 and as my previous m/c's have been at 9 weeks.

OP posts:

Thanks for the welcome. I'm just laughing at TPT. can someone explain what it is? I get the impression that it's a toilet paper test but what exactly do you do and where do you measure?

I've no sickness anymore (14 + 4) just feeling tired still but can't complain

erhianj · 18/03/2009 10:22

Blue - more sickness at 34 weeks? - ahhhhh!! cant be possible!

Letsgo - I've been measuring just under my belly button, I was 9.5 sheets yesterday using value paper, which I think is a bit smaller than the nice stuff!

FairySparkles · 18/03/2009 11:01

Hi everyone - wow, thats just taken me about an hour to catch up on all the posts (actually fitting in a bit of telephone answering seeing as I'm on reception and supposed to be working - keep having to quickly minimise my computer screen when people come in!!)

Glad everyone's getting in the sunshine mood now - we've just booked a week in Jersey with my parents in July so got something to look forward to now - although I've a feeling I'll be spending most of it moaning due to how enormous I'll be! At least parents will be on hand to babysit dd so me and dp can spend a bit of time on holiday together!

Audrey - bless you and your MS - mine's easing up a lot now, and I find even tho the last thing I feel like doing is eating, once I start eating the sickness goes -so I've just got used to 'going through it'!

Letsgo - welcome! My dd is 14months too - gonna have our hands full eh!?!

On that note - does anyone else have young dc's - any tips on how to explain the imminent arival of a brother or sister to someone who doesn't understand!! On the plus side my dd LOVES babies - she's obsessed with them, however she does carry her dolls around in a head lock so thats gonna be one to look out for!! eek!!

My next scan's not till May 8th now - AGES to wait!! Although there's no more scan's after that so that's the worst bit!! I'm sooooo impatient!
Can't decide whether the find out the sex or not - saw a psychic before I found out I was pregnant and she told me I had a little boy on the way very soon, then my sister in law saw one too who said I was having a boy; so inevitably I'm convinced it's a boy now - It does feel like a boy tho - I didn't find out with dd but I knew the whole time she was a girl, so I'm gonna stick with my instinct on this one! I'd be well chuffed with another girl tho if I'm wrong!

I forgot to do TPT!! - I'll do it tonight when I get home cos I've only got jumbo loo roll in work and that's cheating!! hee hee

bigbang · 18/03/2009 12:00

Hmm I have been measuring with the middle of the TP over my belly button, so half above half below?! Maybe aprilmedow can set a standard 'where to measure' to avoid confusion

Fairysparkles I'm not sure there is much you can do if they don't understand! Ds is older (20 months) but still doesn't 'get it'. I'm talking about it and using lots of baby brother/sister related words so the idea is familiar but thats about it. I'm helping him to care for his teddies and dolls (which he loves doing anyway!) and encouraging interest in my friend's younger babies. Will buy some books and do lots of role play and talking about it nearer the time too.

Welcome letsgo

MummyWilliams · 18/03/2009 12:13

Forgot to do TPT yesterday. 8 1/4 sheets of Tesco Value, up a 1/4 of a sheet I think!!! xxx

audreyraines · 18/03/2009 12:57

LOL about all the technicalities of TPT!!

Fairy, i've got no idea how to explain to ds about the new baby. I'm thinking to leave it until about the last 2 months, because I just don't think they can understand something so far away. i think there are meant to be a few books on the subject out there, don't know how good they are. but i'd say role playing with dolls and teddies and pointing out other young babies is a good start.

pooka · 18/03/2009 14:01

Had impromptu listen to heartbeat yesterday which was lovely - had ds and dd with me which meant they got to hear too.

Has horrible cramps in lower pelvis and around lower back - felt very contraction like to me (and have never had similar with ds or dd) so went to doctor. Doctor had a good check, took swab in case some sort of infection, and listened to the baby on the doppler. She reckoned is most likely some ligamental damage/issue which fits in because am suddenly feeling much more energetic and had long swim on monday and also took ds swimming yesterday morning. Is noticeably worse when I change positions i.e. sitting to standing, or after exertion (i.e. taking dd to school, cooking, wrestling with ds). Ho hum - am going to take it easy today and this evening and hope to feel better tomorrow.

Also had shock of my life this morning. Was driving along a road next to some shops, just under 30mph. Mum and ds in the car with me. When a shoplifter with 2 staff in hot pursuit ran at full pelt out of the shop and straight into the road. I did an emergency stop and swerved slightly, as did he. Think I missed him by cms. HE ran off, I pulled over shaking! And in response to the adrenaline had some pretty energetic flips from the baby!

Hope all well with everyone. Forgot to do TPT yesterday

audreyraines · 18/03/2009 14:14

Pooka - that's a scary experience! Hope you get some rest today and feel a bit better too.

I finally got my Screening test result - 1 in 9800, so pretty good!

BabyLady · 18/03/2009 15:27

Hi all,

Question about feeling baby move for those of you who have been there before - at what stage did you all feel it and what did it feel like?

I am desperate to feel something as seem to be very static right now. Not obviously growing and no movement. My placenta is in the front so someone said it might not be for another 3 weeks or so..I think I will have driven DH round the bend with my worrying by then!!

audreyraines · 18/03/2009 15:30

I think last time it was about 18 weeks when i was feeling things. At first it seems like some weird fluttery movement and slowly becomes more definite like kicking and moving. i wouldn't worry if you can't feel it yet though. ther'es plenty of time.

BabyLady · 18/03/2009 15:38

Thanks Audrey - keep telling myself to stop worrying (all my posts on here are always the same..boring!!) but I just keep thinking how bad it would be to have to start all over again

The internet can be your best friend and worst enemy on this stuff as there are always stories out there which are awful.

audreyraines · 18/03/2009 15:46

babylady, when's your next MW appointment? hopefully soon they will start listening to the heart - maybe that will reassure you that baby is ticking along nicely.

god oh god please let this vomiting stop. i was just preparing some stuff for ds' dinner and had to vomit 3 times over sight/smell of food. blerrrgh.

blue76 · 18/03/2009 16:41

audrey yeah there's quinine in the tonic water I drink...my mum put me on to it years ago.

fairysparkles when i was pg with DD2, DD1 was 15 months when I told her. I told her it was going to be her baby. (Though I did used to get all upset at the thought of not possibly being able to love another child as much as i loved her). When my mum brought her to the hospital aged 2, DD2 was a couple of hrs old. She sat with me on the bed and held her, saying 'thank you mummy, thank you daddy', over and over. It still brings a tear to my eye when I think about it! I realised then how much company and love our new addition was going to bring. I involved her in as much as I possibly could.

pooka I'm no doctor, forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn, but were you tested for spd? The pains you described were similar to the ones I had. But spd is more pubic bone area.

Look s like we're all just waiting for 20 week scans now?? Seems ages away!! Mine's
May 14th.

pooka · 18/03/2009 16:43

Poor you AR with the sickness.

Mine eased by the time I was about 14 weeks. Still very picky with food (only eating the crap stuff really). But am just getting better at actually cooking.

WRT movements, with dd was about 16 weeks. With ds nearer 16 or 17 weeks but then nothing much until nearer 20 weeks. This one I can definitely feel, and have since about 15 weeks again. I am perhaps more aware of how it feels IYSWIM. BIt like a small flutter or bubble. IN the last few days have definitely felt the swooshing of a back flip

Much depends on where the baby is in relation to your nerve endings and whether the placenta might be blocking sensation. Also different babies may be felt at different times.

pooka · 18/03/2009 16:45

No blue, not tested. What would the test involve. TBH am feeling much better. Only noticeable when I exert myself. BUt getting less frequent and less intense pains gradually. So hopefully ligament/muscle rather than anything more drastic.

blue76 · 18/03/2009 16:49

babylady I got shouted at by mw for trawling internet! I'd scared myself stupid reading up on stuff. Since then I've managed to stay away from it...just sticking to mn now!

mummyhill · 18/03/2009 17:10

We have a book called there's a house inside my mummy which my kids both love it was written by the guy who does the purple ronnie stuff.

pooka · 18/03/2009 17:17

We've got that book too!

blue76 · 18/03/2009 17:26

pooka when I say tested, it was the mw who poked and prodded and confirmed...

pooka · 18/03/2009 17:35

Well the doctor did have a good feel! I think perhaps if I don't carry on improving I may try and talk to the midwife, because she might be more acutely aware of ante-natal issues (lovely though the GP was).

FairySparkles · 18/03/2009 19:00

Blue - bless your little dd's cotton socks!!! That brought a tear to my eye too! - I guess as she gets a bit older over the next few months she will start to understand a bit more - haven't even bothered mentioning it to her yet!

Babylady - I felt movements with dd at 18weeks - it feels like a bubble in your belly, you think its gonna turn into a fluff but it just doesn't! It's the best feeling in the world!!

mummyhill - thanx for the book tip - sounds up my street - I'll give it a go!
On the book front - I've got a lush book with all info on baby star signs and other hippy type stuff - if anyone else is that way inclined (like me, hence my fairy name) I'd be happy to find a link to amazon or something - give me a shout!?

Audrey - you are really suffering chick!! I often think about you when I'm having a nauseaus moment and hope its getting better!!

Pooka - what a day!! Think you should treat yourself to a unit or 2 of something nice and alcoholic this evening!!

bigbang · 18/03/2009 21:42

Blue that is so lovely, what a sweetheart

Neddie · 19/03/2009 08:17

Morning all,
I am still 7 1/2 TPT but feel like an elephant. Still feeling a bit yuk re-food but still no sickness. 14 weeks and 1 day today. Didn't feel first baby till 16 weeks (like flutterbys in your tummy)DP home from Germany tomorrow all being well. I am really starting to eat for 2 must buy a weighing scales so I don't put too much on this time! I told my youngest on Tuesday and she was very excited because she wants a baby brother and I told her that one of them might be a boy. Knowing my luck it will be two more girls!

FairySparkles · 19/03/2009 09:23

TPT 8 1/2 at 13+2 weeks - mahoosive!!!!

Snowfalls108 · 19/03/2009 12:36

Afternoon all,

So I think I felt movement and a heartbeat yesterday - is that crazy?

I've had a little hard patch on my tummy on and off for a couple of weeks - feeling much like the baby is pressed up against it. I was lyind down last night and pressed my hand against the patch and I'm absolutely positive I could feel a beat. I felt around elsewhere on my stomach and nothing anywhere else, and I don't think it's possible to feel your own pulse there (plus it was different from my heart beat). Anyone else had anything like this?

Oh, I posted this question on the general pregnancy board, but no one has responded - has anyone else looked into the Stem cell collection thingy - like www.futurehealth.co.uk/stdpage.asp?page=22

Hope everyone is feeling well and enjoying the sunshine!
