The other thread was too long and wouldn't let me add a new message.

I am 8+3 and as my previous m/c's have been at 9 weeks.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi just to let you know had booking in appointment on Friday, they done all bloods etc, and they found the heartbeat
Got scan this friday, can't wait. Also find out if DS1 gets place in primary school on Saturday, so this week just can't go quick enough for me.

audreyraines · 16/03/2009 14:39

stacey good news - my MW didn't even try to listen this early. hopefully next time she will.

i would like to know if it is a boy or a girl so i know whether to accept my friends offer of her old baby girl clothes that she wants to get rid of now (we probably have enough boy clothes from ds already). practicality huh!

LittleCheese · 16/03/2009 14:52

hmmm thats not good hope you aren't feeling too terrible, your fridge sounds a little like ours though.

When asked whether she would like a boy or a girl baby our DD says a girl, when asked if she would like a brother or a sister though she just says no. She is only 2.2 months though so pretty sure she doesnt understand just yet

audreyraines · 16/03/2009 14:55

he he, because i haven't been cooking so much lately (due to puke factor) things do tend to sit around more than they should

yeah i don't think 2 year olds can be expected to understand what is about to shatter their perfect world later this year!!

BabyLady · 16/03/2009 15:32

Hi all - hope you all had a good weekend.

LOL on the courgette audrey - so hope you are feeling better soon.

I would love to find out the sex but DH is adamant that he wants a surprise! Boo hoo.

Little kids are funny about babies, when my sister told my nephew (just 2) there was a baby in my tummy he kept saying to me "open, open" errrr not quite!

Feeling a bit more positive this week after feeling a bit glum and worried about the baby 'cos of no more scans etc for 5 weeks. Next scan is 15 April at 21 weeks. Think I am growing so will be interesting to check out TPT tomorrow.

ladylush · 16/03/2009 16:40

Thanks for the suggestions re long leg jeans. Will check out Noppies. Next jeans are not a great fit on me. Though maternity ones might be different. I saw some nice Isabella Oliver ones with a flare leg. Would look nice with wedges.

paranoidmummy · 16/03/2009 17:14

Just a quick one to say hi all. I'm sorry to hear some of you are still suffering from sickness Fingers crossed it will pass soon.

In terms of the big sex debate! I have never ever found out before but after 2 boys I thought I really better find out so I could start getting some girly bits in in case it was a pink one!!! Also, after the whole fear of the genetic issues, cvs, etc we'd promised ourselves we'd find out if we got good results. Still tho, I do TOTALLY get the surprise factor and I think any of you choosing to do it won't be disappointed. I'm still so pleased I didn't know for my first 2. Its such an amazing feeling when they are born and you get to see what flavour it is!! Its going to be so weird that there's a winky missing this time!!!

Has everyone here told work? I only returned from mat leave at the end of Jan! Hey ho! So was planning to wait until my 3 months probation is up at end of April! HOWEVER since Friday my bump has just appeared as if by magic! Maybe I was subconsciously holding it in til I knew it was for keeps!!! So... really not sure how I'm going to tell them. Uh oh.

this post is really selfish and all about me! How are the rest of you?

mummyhill · 16/03/2009 17:41

audreyraines is he a fan of pepper pig by any chance?

We are going for a surprise again this time.

LittleCheese · 16/03/2009 18:24

Paranoid I told work about 4 weeks ago, I was really nervous as this is a new job that i only started in Jan. But I was feeling that i couldnt get excited about the pregnancy as there was this huge weight about work on my shoulders. On the plus side my direct manager returned from maternity leave about two weeks before I told them so I think that was in my favour. She was really excited and pleased for me. I did tell I bit of a white lie about how far I thought I was though

I said I had just found out and thought I was 4/5 weeks but doc thought I might have dates wrong and wanted me to go for an early scan. My Scan was booked in for 2 weeks after I told them and I turned out to be 13 + 4 howevere when i told them again they showed nothing but support

audreyraines · 16/03/2009 18:45

Ah, mummyhill, we've never gotten into Peppa Pig so far. Bob the Builder and any kind of dinosaur stuff is a different matter though!

audreyraines · 16/03/2009 20:00

I'm 14 + 5 weeks now, and the vomiting/nausea is still very much here. sometimes it lets up for a bit, but then i have really awful days like today, and i'm yet again faced with having toast for dinner. i'm wondering now if this is just going to be the way it is for the whole pregnancy and am feeling just a tad depressed about not being able to eat a proper dinner for 6 more months.
ah well, this pregnancy sure has convinced me this is my last baby!
maybe i do have to consider taking the bucastem that the dr recommended. i was really trying to avoid it. i've also heard it can make you REALLY tired, and that just doesn't seem like a feasible option with looking after ds. hmmm

mummyhill · 16/03/2009 22:26

I have been using bucastem and it has not made me feel any more tired than I was before itms. I have however found that it helped a great deal in stopping the sickness, I still felt queasy but wasn't as sick as before iyswim.

kookykid · 17/03/2009 07:48

oops, fell off the thread again!

Hope everyone's doing well and sickness is subsiding now.

I went down to London to see my step-sister at the weekend who gave me so many maternity clothes I don't know what to do with them all! Absolutely birlliant! Loads of summer stuff too so it should see me through the whole pregnancy.

I have my detailed scan and fetal heart echo tomorrow with the spcialist from Great Ormond Street. I am hoping it's all good news and we can really relax and enjoy the rest of the pregnancy after that. Still have to have a 20 week scan, which I still haven't booked yet. Am 16 weeks tomorrow!

Neddie · 17/03/2009 07:57

Hi all
Glad that everyone's doing ok. I had my nuchal fold scan yesterday and more pics. They have dated me now as 13 weeks and 5 days so the 16th of September. My nuchal measurement was 1.5 for both twins as I don't want an amnio if at all possible I decided that the risk was low enough- although they said to be sure I should have bloods done and amnio. I am going to take the risk- I have 2 chances! Surprised that the risk of Down's in a 41 year old woman is as high as 1 in 73 though. They were bouncing around like mad and one at the bottom seemed to be kicking the other one in the head!

audreyraines · 17/03/2009 08:05

thanks mummyhill, i might try taking one bucastem this afternoon becuase that's when my morning sickness (stupid name) tends to kick in most. maybe i'll be able to eat dinner -- if i'm not too tired!

audreyraines · 17/03/2009 08:06

kooky, loving the hand me down maternity wear - i've also had that from a few friends.

newbie36 · 17/03/2009 08:55

Hi all

This is a great place to get advice! Have decided to give in and go shopping on Friday to Bluewater where there's a Blooming Marvellous. At work at the mo, and although only 12+5 I have the top of my trousers undone whilst I sit at my desk. I'll be alright as long as I don't have to get up in a hurry, the top I'm wearing today doesn't really cover the top of my trousers and I don't need the rest of the office seeing my pants just yet.......!

Haven't got a date yet for another scan - apparently when I see the midwife at 16 weeks, she'll book me in if I haven't heard anything from the hospital by then.

Loved the thread about audreyraines DS wanting a dinosaur! I will be finding out a boy or girl though at the next scan - honestly I'm useless with surprises and I'm always the one at Christmas who can found ferreting under the tree shaking presents to find out what's there. There's not a chance I'll be able to wait to find out!

Kookykid hope the scan goes well.

Thusnelda · 17/03/2009 08:58

Neddie, 1 in 73 just for the age factor? That seems high indeed. I'm glad the nuchal folds are small, that gives you much better odds I hope.

My next appointment is not until mid-May - over 8 weeks away! I was really hoping for a 16 week midwife appointment or something like that. Maybe I'll just see the GP to have blood pressure checked. (all the books keep saying age and overweightness increase all sorts of risks but Queen Charlotte's doesn't seem at all concerned.)

I always thought I wouldn't want to know the sex before hand, but not so sure now. Not because I want top paint everything pink or blue - certainly not! But because we're struggling with names as it is and cutting them down by half might just help. Siegfried is my boyfriend's firm favourite - can you believe it! I wouldn't mind something Germanic as I am German, but I think that one is going a bit far. Might as well call him Adolf.

lizlemon · 17/03/2009 08:59

Have had a small name change. Still citrussy though

Laughed about the courgette and the state of your fridge audrey - I haven't been cooking either and I keep finding furry stuff welded to the salad drawers.

Congrats on the scan news Neddie!

Envious of hand me downs - only one of my friends has had a baby and she trying for another so I cant have those, and my other friend is about to pop, but I guess she'll still be wearing hers for a few months yet. I've ordered some patterns so I can make some tops and dresses though.

bigbang · 17/03/2009 09:46

Hello all,

Hope everyone is well today. Congrats on the scan neddie

I lent half of my maternity clothes to a friend and need them back asap... Her baby was born 8 months ago and I'm not sure what she has done with them, she says she will bring them and never does! Hopefully will get them next week at some point.

Its TPT again ladies! I am an odd measurement this week. The bottom half of my belly is bigger than the top, so the TP ends up in a diagonal line... The top half is just under 7 and the bottom is 7 1/4! My bump is quite prominent, its fairly obvious I'm pregnant now which is nice. I didn't look like this till 20 weeks or so last time!

Ds has no clue about the baby really. If you ask him where the baby is he will point to my belly, but also points to his own, his fathers etc! Ah well plenty of time left for him to click!

lizlemon · 17/03/2009 11:20

Forgot it was TPT. Feel like a heifer at 8.5 sheets, up half a sheet from last week.

Letsgo · 17/03/2009 11:25

Hi all

Can I join you please? I'm due 11 Sept and it's my 2nd. DS is 14 months. Feel like I need some fellow preggers mums to moan/laugh with.

Snowfalls108 · 17/03/2009 12:04

Welcome Letsgo - you're due 2 days before me.

No longer sure that TPT is a good idea - I'm now 8 and 3/4 which is a whole sheet more than last week. Eeeek. At this rate I'll be huge. I happily got 8 sheets of the roll to start with, and then gasped with horrer as it came nowhere near! The worst thing is it doesn't look like a bump at all - just fat. On the plus side it's higher than my jeans, so I'm still fitting into those.

Congratulations on the scan Neddie. How amazing to have 2 of them in there.

lizlemon · 17/03/2009 12:10

Ah snowfalls - at least you're still in your jeans - I'm full on maternity now

Welcome letsgo!

AprilMeadow · 17/03/2009 12:26

Afternoon ladies!

My TPT this week is: 7 3/4 sheets. I think thats up by half a sheet... I also got on the scales on Sunday and was pleased to see that i have still only gained 4lbs - even though it looks far more!

Just remember ladies that as we get closer to the D-Day the measurements SHOULD go down as the baby moves down. Just something positive to look forward to.

My friend had her ds2 this morning, un-planned homebirth. MW arrived moments before he was born. Am so looking forward to a cuddle.

Great nuchal measurements Neddie.
