Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

congratulations laumiere that is brilliant, well done you!!

laweaselmys · 21/02/2009 21:10

Yay!!! laumiere You have cheered me up

I keep telling DP I want to go at just over 37 weeks (ie, in a week) and so he keeps telling the bump to ignore me and wait longer because he's not ready yet. I don't care! I'm uncomfy!!

Re: my mum, she is 52 - so not old by any means, unfortunately my family seems to have quite bad luck in this regard and she is definitely in bad health anyway (been having heart palpitations) but we will just have to wait and see. Thanks for all the wishes guys.

Wheelybug · 21/02/2009 21:32

Congratulations Laumiere and welcome to the world Gabriel ! Look forward to seeing photos !!

Thinking of you Law.

EllieorOllie · 21/02/2009 21:46

Many many congrats laumiere. Stunning name. Sounds like you did a great job!! And so quick too - i'm jealous!!

Hope you're ok law. You're in my thoughts. It seems so hard getting news like that when all this exciting life-affirming baby stuff is going on...

Just rather unnerved my DH by getting such bad trapped nerve pain that i keeled over in the kitchen and had to stay on all fours for some time! Oops. Really bloody hurt!!

I'm off to my parents with DD for a week tommorow. Labour bag is coming too, particularly as my show is continuing. Hope everyone has a great week - looking forward to more baby news when I return.

MKG · 21/02/2009 23:41

Ok so I went to a baby shower today. It was supposed to be at 3pm. So I got there at 2:45. well. The guest of honor didn't show up until 4pm and her friends didn't show up until 4:30. anyway, I had to work at 5 thinking that everything would be winding down by that time.

Is it me or is it incredibly rude to show up an hour late for your own baby shower?

rubyring · 22/02/2009 05:54

hey, congratulations laumiere! what lovely news, hooray! how are you finding it so far?
very sorry about your mum, law, that must be very hard for you.
i have my inlaws here too, mum in law still thinks dh is 7 years old sometimes, i swear - she even said "Im so proud of my little boy!" cos he'd won this competition, eeek! then my mum and dad are here mon til tues, am looking forward to having the house and my family back to myself! have got some rest, but it's tiring sort of explaining where stuff is, kids routines, thinking about dinners etc. oh the ungrateful hormonal beast i am! been awake since 5am, can't sleep, been reading lots of trashy thrillers, really like harlen coben, yeah! nearly packed hospital bag clever me!
maybe your baby shower friend was just having a crap pregnant day mkg? wonder who will have next baby!

meep · 22/02/2009 07:20

laumiere CONGRATULATIONS! and welcome to the world to little baby Gabriel! Doe he look like his big brother - and how is he coping with it all?

Very at him arriving 9 mins after you got to hospital (not that I imagine it was a walk in the park though). Hope you are okay too!

ruby - I am reading lots of trashy thrillers too - think I just need to numb my brain sometimes and stop the madness that is going on inside - 2.5 days left at work and hopefullythat will stop a lot of the stress!

MKG how annoying for you being pregnant and having to hang around for the baby showerr to start - could they not have phoned to say they'd be late?!

fififlores · 22/02/2009 09:31

hello, baby girl born Thursday night at 10.44pm, 2.73kg. no name yet. doesn´t want to feed so going to relevant board.

Good luck everyone else!

twocutedarlings · 22/02/2009 10:33

Wow - All these babies!! how exciting!! !!

Congratulation!! Laumiere and welcome to the world little Gabriel . Hope the transfer to hospital wasnt to scary, cant wait to hear more!!

And another YAY!!! Congratulations to your too fififlores whats happening with your DD feeding? maybe we can help .

Well i didnt sleep to bad last night, still had to get up for an hour but other then that i have slept better then i have in almost 2 weeks!! My cold has almost gone and my cough > so i feel abit more like my former self!!

slickbird Hope things are better at home, men can be such wankers!!! My DH has took his self off of to his veg plot this AM seeing as i am feeling a little better !! .........well he has 2 hours and if he is not back WW3 is likely to break out in this house hold.

Ruby i also enjoy reading halen corben ive read a few of his, but im into Martina Cole at the mo.

MKG How bloody rude!! i hope you told them so.

grinningbee · 22/02/2009 11:12

Blimey!

Congratulations to Laumiere and Fififlores

I wonder what the chances of me going early are now as I live an hour away from the hospital, and as of last night have NO transport...

The cam belt snapped on my car on the way home from shopping last night (cue knackered engine). DH got a lift from a kind passer by to get the van to tow it back, only to have the radiator on it go pop during the tow.

Ah, last night was fun!

fififlores · 22/02/2009 11:25

thanks, 2CD, wil try and explain as briefly as poss. don´t want to worry/bore/put off others, esp first-timers with my silly concerns!

ok, here goes - during the 1st 24-36 hours she managed to feed quite a bit - about every 3 hours - little short feeds. last night i woke her at 4am and she had a mammoth go - in terms of length and sucking force - hurt so i reckoned my milk had come in. since then, i´ve found it really hard going.

spent 2 hours from 8.30 trying to wake her up - clothes off, tickling toes, blowing on face, change position, singing etc etc. once awake, she wouldn´t open her mouth, and the few times she did that, wouldn´t take the nipple, and if she did that - usually with a good latch - promptly fell asleep again. the only time she wakes up properly is when i leave the room (like now) and she starts crying, so we go through the whole palaver again.

also, now i´m not sure if i do have milk - tried squeezing nipple and using pump, and none came out.

dh already talking abotu giving her a bottle cos i am getting so upset and despondent about it all (same exp as last baby), which i really really donñt want to do. no good advice lines etc here (Spain) so am relying on mum friends and you wonderful people out there for some support and advice!

rubyring · 22/02/2009 12:04

hey fififlores sorry to hear of your feeding plight, congrats on your baby girl. is it possible your milk hasn't come in yet? is there a way you can phone an nct breastfeeding support line in the uk or la leche league? there should be some info for phone numbers on the web, even if you are calling from overseas? do you have a doc/midwife you can talk to? good luck, i am sure it will work out, you must be worn out - maybe she is still a sleepy girl after the birth? thinking of you xxx

twocutedarlings · 22/02/2009 12:20

fififlore Sound to me like your milk hasnt come in yet, but please dont worry this is perfectly normal!! (it will come) after all its only been a little over 3 days!! (my milk did come in till day 5 with DD1).

Right hear is what i would do, firstly stop trying to express, you need to spend as much mummy and baby time with her as possible (skin to skin if poss) take yourself and DD off to bed, she will feed when she is ready, while ever she is still having plenty of wet nappies she is getting enough milk.

The only thing here that is i am not sure about is it taking 2 hours to wake her, i hope you dont mind but i have copied your last post onto the feeding board for you (i am sure you have enough to do!!) there are some real experts on MN how know far more than me Here.

CaptainKarvol · 22/02/2009 12:57

fififlores first congratulations! The feeding thing sounds difficult - I know my DS had a 10 hour gap between feeds on day 3 (the midwife had kittens when she found out) - he was also v. sleepy. It was impressed on me how important it was to get him feeding more regularly, so I hope you get the support you need. FWIW we went on to bf sucessfully, so a shaky start needn't mean the end of things.

grinningbee waht a nightmare - does your hospital do non-emergency ambulance transfers? Ours has told us to ring the labour suite if we have no transport, and they will send a non-emergency ambulance out.

MKG, nah, you're right, it's rude to not turn up to your own party till an hour late!

How's everyone feeling today? I am a wreck because my non-sleeping DS (who had been doing so, so well for a week) had a shocking night last night - was awake for about 2 hours. There are newborn babies who sleep better than this lad. I keep telling tinybaby that it is going to have to be a chilled out, sleepy type...

fififlores · 22/02/2009 13:50

god bless mumsnet, you have all made feel better already, mums are the best in these sit´ns (newbies - sod the books, ask another mum). altho it helps that she´s had a few little feeds since my last post, and is actually interested again. i´m kind of not bothered how long she´s on there for, as long as she´s on, if you know what i mean.

rubygirl - yes, i wondered if she was still knackered from birth (only 2.5 days ago), plus her huge 4am effort. i can ring la leche in the uk from here, but will leave it for now. half my panic is about what might happen (sleepy feeder/weight loss/having to resort to bottles, like last time), rather than what has happened, if you see what i mean.

thanks for reposting me, 2CD - in fact itñs not even 3 days yet (not till 10.44pm tonight).

capt carvol - interesting re the 10 hours - and that it didn´t harm things - i would prefer not, obviously! but it helps soooooo much to hear all this.

thanks again, guys!

twocutedarlings · 22/02/2009 14:10

Your welcome fifi - glad you got the advice you needed . Just read on the other thread about your DDs collarbone what happened there?? poor little mite xxx

MKG · 22/02/2009 14:47

Morning everyone! 38 weeks today!

First, Congratulations Fifi!

Try not to worry too much right now. ds1 was like this except that he never bothered to latch. The fact she has, shows she knows how, so just work with her time. Just make sure that her diapers are wet and her poo is green instead of black. that will show you that she is getting something and her body is processing it well. Just keep offering and remember that even 5 minutes counts. Give your milk time to come in before you worry too much.

As for me, my vagina feels like it's going to explode. All last night I felt like I was going to gush something, but I didn't. I'm ready to go to my appointment on Friday knitting needle in hand and say that if they don't do something, I will! LOL.
