Ok so I'll start it off.

Has anyone else had a huge increase in discharge? It's gone from clear and not too much to thick and white, and copious amounts.

YAY!! Good luck laumiere keep us posted!! .

CaptainKarvol · 21/02/2009 09:34

laumiere - oh wow, best of luck The race is on between you and titchy! I hope your baby is in a good position, floor scrubbing called for?

laweasel, I'm really sorry to hear about your mum. I hope the results come back better than you are expecting.

Hi mumtob09 and welcome (we share a due date)

My TENS arrived this morning. DS(2.11) was very excited and started rushing around to find his dad and tell him the baby was coming. Goodness knows what he will be like when the pool arrives!

kanga5 · 21/02/2009 10:08

Hooray Laumiere.

good luck and how exciting. You will have your baby so soon now...it is our dd 2nd birthday tomorrow so maybe they will share the date!

sorry to hear about your mum Laweasel...fingers crossed for you both.

I was wondering if any one else is getting obsessed with gender prediction? We didn't find out the sex of the baby and now I am driving myself crazy trying out all the old wives tales on websites! Any of you who know what you're having believe these tales have a shred of respectability?

welcome to mumtob09 as well.

jollyjoanne · 21/02/2009 10:28

Laumiere ooh good luck, fingers crossed for a nice smooth birth.

Law sorry to hear about your mum, lots of best wishes from here.

Must admit as we know the sex of our baby we haven't had to worry too much about the predictor things but one of my friends from work didn't know the sex of hers (now about 3 weeks old) and I was convinced it was a boy - she was just carrying it so differently from my girlie bump. And indeed he is the most gorgeous little boy.

Slickbird · 21/02/2009 10:44

Yay! Good luck Laumiere! If you can update us from your hospital bed in the middle of contractions, we'd all appreciate it. Just kidding. Can't wait to hear the news, all the best.

I wanted to kill my DH this morning, miserable grumpy bastard. (That should be my job). We had a big row over nothing and it left me really upset again. That's the third this week - since his MIL arrived to help. She's not the problem, HE is. He gets all moody and weird and tense when he's around his family or if his mum is staying and I warned him I was nervous about this a few weeks ago and he said while he was aware it happened, he would make a real effort not to be like that and raise tensions. So what's happened..... Bastard.

CaptainKarvol · 21/02/2009 10:47

I don't know about the old wives tales, but I have been convinced from the word go that this one is a girl. So that's on record now!

And, tbh, I've made some assumptions based on knowing when I would have conceived as I was charting my cycle pretty closely. So this one was from sex several days before ovulation, which is a bit of a boost to the girly swimmers...

CaptainKarvol · 21/02/2009 10:50

awww, slickbird, poor you. You are right - moody and unreasonable is the sole preserve of the (late) pregnancy woman. My DH was really grumpy this morning too, as I made DS go and find his daddy at 6am, rather than dragging me downstairs to play cars. Not fair. I claim all grumpy moods AND all tiredness, he is not allowed. Can you go and do something nice just for you?

titmouse · 21/02/2009 10:53

Good luck Laumiere!! I've been in a foul mood all morning so far but the news of your waters breaking cheered me right up!

I seem to be getting grumpier the more pregnant I get

CaptainKarvol · 21/02/2009 11:10

OMG I just weighed myself (first time in months and months).

OK, my booking-in weight was about 4kg over what I thought my weight was , but I've only put on another 4.5kg on top of that, all pregnancy. All in all, I'm about 12kg over my ideal non-pg weight, but this is a bit wierd. I put on twice this with DS.

What is going on? Just different scales?

Slickbird · 21/02/2009 11:14

Captain Well, the irony is he was getting partly stressed out because he had arranged to meet old friends from his previous work this morning and he was taking the kids (the friends he is meeting are all women so would be happy enough to see the kids!) and the point was to give me some time alone. But as it turns out the argument left me furious, heart hammering, wanting to throw plates (which is NOT like me at all) and in tears. Hormones coming into play no doubt. But I was upset last night as he has been out all day everyday, working and then renovating the bloody garage - which he feels will give everyone more room (he prob means himself) and he thought his mum could stay in it while she's here helping. But that means he's been away since first thing in the morning til midnight every bloody night and I'm feeling sorry for myself and neglected. Just at a time when I need him most and we are about to have a baby together. I feel like I don't know him right now. And to compound matters., DD1 has really been playing up what with the baby due and her birthday next week, so I've been dealing with all that, and now DD2 has started having paddies as she approaches the 18 month mark. I just need more support from him. Anyway. You all don't need to hear this. He's normally a really hands on Dad and DH and I'm not doubting his intentions and he does work hard, but I need him emotionally and he's just not coming up with the goods.

kanga5 · 21/02/2009 11:35

definately hormones slick...give yourself a break.

there is nothing like impending birth to add stress to the mix. Sounds like he will be there for you eventually...is he nesting or what!!

We don't want our inlaws about either. one set is 4 hours away and the other 24 hours away in Australia. They'd all love to help but frankly would drive us nuts and we would rather muddle on ourselves. Luckily I have a great set of friends and neighbours whom I trust with the children but even so I am sure I will get more stressed about relying on them as labour approaches.

captain I too think I may be carrying a girl due to time of conception: three ds on night of ovulation each time, then a girl possibly concieved a few days before ov. Could be the same this time. Just going mad slowly...

CaptainKarvol · 21/02/2009 11:35

Sounds like a classic . And renovating the garage is exactly what my (lovely, kind, caring) DH would prioritise too - and there WOULD be an element of him 'getting away from it all' by doing it, with the added benefit of doing something as beyond reproach as improving the house. Oh yes, I think I get it...

How are you finding your DD's birthday coming up? My DS's is in 2 weeks, and I've done nothing - he's only going to be 3, so he's not demanding much, but I do feel a bit bad about it. It's so hard when ... biologically, I guess ... you are just so focused on the baby coming and the rest of the world isn't working that way...

kanga5 · 21/02/2009 11:42

captain, slick, my dd is 2 tomorrow and ds3 is 5 in two weeks. i feel badly too that we are not planning anything big. the 2yo should be ok but i worry ds is feeling he is missing out. we try to take them somewhere for a day out rather than face lots of children high on sugar!

CaptainKarvol · 21/02/2009 11:52

kanga isn't it funny how they all come at the same time of year! I don't know what to do for DS - his GPs are coming over here for the day (it's a long journey), I'm just hoping it's nice enough for people to go out into the garden rather than ILs, my parents and us all cooped up inside!

Slickbird · 21/02/2009 12:26

Captain & Kanga - Thanks for the support! It does seem to be a bit of a man thing. Esp as we moved here over a year ago and there are so many things that are just plain wrong in the house in terms of decor. I mean, we have blue coving in the livingroom. No you didn't read wrong, BLUE!!! I mean WTF?? And I won't mention how hideous the bathroom is, but it's not the end of the world. However he seems to think the garage will be if it doesn't get done. (Nothing to do with him always wanting his own music studio or anything...) Bah!

Re: DD1's birthday - I don't know if I've mentioned before but with her it is like living with Liza Minelli all the bloomin' time. She is such a show off and wants to be centre of attention, wants to perform etc etc and when it comes to occasions, she starts planning and getting excited about them months in advance, to the point where she winds herself up so much she can't sleep at night and makes herself ill. I keep telling her she really needs to get a grip. But she is also up to ninety with the baby being due and she has been attention seeking because of that. She was the same last time. We've had lots of chats and tears etc but I really don't think things will calm down til the birthday is over and the baby is born.

Anyway, she's just going to see a film and to pizza express tomorrow with a couple of her best friends - that was what she wanted. And then on her birthday on Wed we'll have family over for cake etc.

While me and my waters break quietly over in the corner.....

titchy77 · 21/02/2009 12:56

WOW Laumiere Good luck!!
Nothing happening here, had quite a few contractions thurs night and most of yesterday, really thought that was it but then went for a lay down and they stopped and had nothing since.
Lovely weather here today, sun is shining so I've just hung out all my washing!
Have a fab weekend everyone!

MKG · 21/02/2009 13:32

Hi all'

Laweasel--I'm so sorry. I hope you are doing ok.

Laumiere- You win! Hope you're having a great birth!

Nothing new here. I cried my eyes out last night because I made chicken parmesean and dh said it wasn't cooked all the way. Cue me, running upstairs to cry with ds1 following me to tell me a story and make me feel better.

God I feel like such a loser.

Good luck Laumiere ! How exciting.

Sorry to hear about your Mum Law - I really hope its not as bad as feared.

Cheesy hugs to all those feeling down...

lolianja · 21/02/2009 14:57

Woo! Congratulations Laumiere, how exciting!

No sign of any contractions here as yet, but plug went yonks ago, and as of Thursday am 3cm dilated and almost fully effaced. Braxton's getting very frequent. So not long to go now I reckon. Wonder if I'll make it to due date (a week Monday).

goldmother2b · 21/02/2009 16:05

Slick - hope you are feeling a bit better now

Law - really sorry to hear about your mum.

Laumiere - wow! I'm really jealous - hope all goes well for you and look forward to hearing your news soon!

Just wondering if it is possible to nest by proxy - I have been demanding that DH puts this away and cleans that all day - I suppose my SPD stops me doing anything that needs much bending and carrying so I am making sure that he does it all and NOW!

meep · 21/02/2009 18:46

slick I think our dh's were separated at birth. When my FIL comes to visit (all the way from NZ) dh turns into this stroppy teenager. Gets annoyed with his dad - becomes sulky and uncommunicative - makes for great family dinners . It must be a man thing because my brother can be like that with my Mum!

So you have my sympathies - when your dh should be entertaining your mil letting you rest you end up doing it!

The garage better be an absolute palace !

laumiere - how very exciting - keep posting - we want to hear what's happening!

After the curry I had last night - I still have heartburn! Ugh! The dreaded reflux struck at about 1am (sick in the mouth - yeurgh!) and I had no Gaviscon upstairs so slept the rest of the night propped up in bed.

Was planning a whole day at work today to clear my desk before I go off - then dh phoned to say dd wouldn't stop crying - so had to come home. Mummy cuddles seemed to be the only cure.

So my stress free Sunday having lunch with friends is now off and I will be at work - boo hoo!

BumblBeee · 21/02/2009 20:19

Was just looking for details of BIB birth but could not find them, a long thread!

Hope it went ok?

Just scanned yesterday and they said my baby was over 7lbs at 35 +1 weeks.

LOL
