Here goes-I got a BFP on DPO 11 which makes me due 1st October. Was going to avoid the antenatal thread until I was completely sure but have already done 3 tests and am still not convinced. Come on and join in the worry fun.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 12/02/2009 22:14

Hi I'm HalfMum. I was on a conception thread a bit ago but I can't find it anymore.

Anyway did a test yesterday and I'm pregnant! Think due 17th Oct.

Had MC in Sept at 5 weeks last year so fingers crossed for this time.

Thought I'd check in to say hi to other october mums to be. I have a DS aged 2.5 and work full time so I'm usually an evening mnetter.

Best of luck to all.

I'll bore you with my symptoms another time

xx

patmum · 13/02/2009 07:40

happytangerine - so sorry about the dog. We have two labs, one of which is getting on and on daily medication. I totally dread losing him. He isn't in any pain currently (thanks to the metacam) but once he deteriorates we'll need to consider the same course of action.

Big hugs at your loss especially when your hormones are everywhere, it must be dreadful.

Focus on the baby, whilst there is alot of MC talk going on, remember that the majority of MC happen before now and that the chances of having a healthy pregnancy really are good and improving with every passing day.

Try to stop worrying about something that may never happen. You'll make yourself sick! Oh you already are !!! You know what I mean

sammysam · 13/02/2009 09:13

Happytangerine-I'm so so sorry-sending you loads of hugs. The hormones must be making things much worse-we had to have one of our family flat coats put down a month before dd was born-i was in such a state-I would have been anyway but the hormnes took it to a whole new level.

All this talk of mc is scaring the hell out of me so I think we should ban it!!!

As I was getting dd to bed last night my vision went all funny and I started seeing stars-sure sign of migrane-head is killing me now. Had one when i was under 12wks with dd-they are quite common with all the hormones apparently-i was lucky to only get one last time-lets hope the same happens this time!

How is everyone this morning?

CookieMonster1 · 13/02/2009 10:15

Hello everyone, been away for a couple of days so have just been catching up on everyone's news.

A big hug to those having a tough time. Thinking of you all.

Treats · 13/02/2009 10:34

IDOB - I think you need to stop subscribing to that update feed - what an unreassuring thing to say!

HappyTangerine - very sad for you . Hope you have a nice time at your mums - take care of yourself! Is the bucket going with you to Wales???

Sammysam - think you're right that the hormones make everything worse. I've just been speaking to a client who was a bit unpleasant and I really wanted to cry when I put the phone down - which is not like me......

Went to the GP last night and have been referred to the midwives, so am waiting to hear from them. My EDD has been confirmed at 8/10/09 (I thought it would be 07/10), so I must update the list. My sister is 16/10, only 8 days later! The race will be on to see who can produce the first grandchild........

smallone · 13/02/2009 11:03

Welcome halfmum good to see another graduate! We're due date buddies too.

varicose I'm sorry to hear your news, I hope you're ok.

I have only one thing to say.... "bleugh" Going to a 2nd birthday party at lunch time with all my other mummy friends, it will be a miracle if none of them guess.

Does anyone else feel like their eyes aren't co-ordinated anymore?

HumphreysCorner · 13/02/2009 11:19

Goof morning ladies

Hello and welcome HalfMumHalfBiscuit. Congratulations and do feel free to share all your symptoms.

HappyTangerine-so sorry you had to have your doggie put to sleep. So very sad. Have a nice weekend but I don't know how you'll keep your sickness from your mum. Mums know everything you know.

Snow nearly gone here, the girls never get to play in it. Feeling suitably nauseous today, long may it last!

Big wave to all!

Hi Everyone

Does anyone else not feel that sick yet? I wish I did in a way

patmum · 13/02/2009 11:45

babyinacorner I'm with you although I hate to mention it with so many people feeling so dreadful. I'm wondering if it has yet to hit me I'm just over 6 weeks in.

However, I was lucky with DS and didn't feel bad at all (with sickness anyway - I was incredibly tired from 8 to 16 weeks). The only time I came close was when I was in labour!

I hope I'm lucky again - I really hate being sick.

Finally booked an appt at the doctors - it's not for another fortnight. New surgery as we moved house last summer, hope my doctor is one of the nicer variety! I hope that it will give sufficient time to get a scan by 12 weeks. I'm not sure if you need to have the booking in appt with the midwife before you can get on the waiting list. If so it might be cutting it a little fine. Does anyone know?

I only went though all this three years ago, you'd think I'd be able to remember what happens but so much seems to have happened in that time....

HumphreysCorner · 13/02/2009 11:58

Don't worry about not being sick as out of me and all my friends it was only me that was ever sick. Think it is hereditary.

Our GP is not interested if you are PG so we have to book in with the MW which I am doing at 9 weeks so may ring up next week for an appointment the week after.

idreamofbeanie · 13/02/2009 12:07

Hi patmum, when I made my appointment with the GP the girl on reception also made me a midwife appointment for the following week and said that the midwife should book my scan after I've seen her. It seems to be different for everyone though - the midwife I see is based at the surgery so that might be why they made my appt for me.

HappyTangerine-so sorry about your dog.

Nausea has returned with a vengeance - think it is worse at the end of the week as I am more tired. Wish I could just sleep all weekend but am going to a hen night tomorrow. I have told them I have had a bug this week and just hoping that will cover up the lack of drinking and the fact I look rough and tired (lovely). Wish me luck!

KKKKaty · 13/02/2009 12:23

Afternoon All,

Well, having said that my mum had no sickness with any of her pregnancies, and that I hoped I would get that set of genes, it seems that I wasn't so lucky! Feeling quite yicky today. It's quite reassuring in a way however, but of course I'm sure I won't be saying that if/when it gets worse. I'm not even six weeks yet!

Time is going so slllowwwwwlllly....

LittleMissBliss · 13/02/2009 12:54

Hi all,

congratulations halfmum!!

so sorry to hear about your dog tangerine!

Just thought i'd ctach up whist ds naps. Made some spinache rissotto for lunch which was surprisingly nice Not really a spinach fan but trying to stock up on the iron this time.

I've only had a few sick days but all in all i am really just normal!

Treats my midwife dated me one day earlier, but i'm sticking to my date untill my 12 week scan because ds was a week and a day early! x

DevilsAdvocaat · 13/02/2009 14:05

hi everyone,

the power cable for my laptop was broken and i have been offline for waaay too long. it was especially bad when it snowed and i didn't get out the house much. thank god the replacement has come today.

have tried to catch up with eveyone's news, wanted to wish lizzie good luck.

i have been feeling so sick and dizzy. went to gp yesterday who referred me for a blood test for iron levels to see if i'm anaemic again. he was a bit of an arse actually, kept going on about this and that could kill your baby, actually made me feel a bit depressed at one point! felt like he'd rather i hadn't come in tbh. he didn't mention what the next step was either, do i have to book with the local midwife? i can't remember.

have massive black rings around my eyes which just won't go away no matter how much i sleep.

6 weeks today, is it only 6 weeks? time is going slowly. i was actually sick yesterday for the first time and found out that i cannot handle the smell of onions cooking which triggered it.

i feel like a have also lost the ability to type a coherent sentence.

we have told close family who are all thrilled.

me: i am 26, a primary teacher but sahm atm, live in reading, married to dh3 yrs this year (together 7 years in march).

doggus · 13/02/2009 14:55

Hi HalfMum - I love your username!

Poor you and your dog, tangerine - feel very sorry for you.

KittyCat09 · 13/02/2009 17:51

Hi all,
Lots of posts since I last logged on! Been trying to keep up with them but now my head is swimming.

Went to see the GP on Tues, he was so nice sorry for those of you who had grumpy ones. He was happy for us and I have another appointment booked for a couple of weeks time. I'm now about 7 weeks and have a due date at last... 2nd October.

So I'm no longer at the bottom of the list I added KKKKaty and HalfMum, sorry if I missed anyone else out.

Although I'm not on often I can't express how much of a relief it is to be able to see everyone else going through the same thing, the same worries, nausea and constipation!!

lizzie9442 · 13/02/2009 18:13

hi everyone,

getting closer to my scan now on Tuesday and i am getting really worried. One minute i think positive and the next negative. I have been feeling really sick and tired today and have had no bleeding for about 5 days now. I have also just realised i have my scan on the same day i get my final accountancy exam results, so it could be a really good day or really bad.

Hope you are all doing ok and that i will be on this thread with you all the way! although i am not getting my hopes up xx

lixanismapolium · 13/02/2009 22:28

Hi All, Hope you're not feeling too sickly! Had a bad day yesterday because my scan appt arrived and it took me a while to realise it was for the pregnancy I lost at New Year, not this one.

Anyway, spoke to EPU today and I have to go in on Monday and Wednesday next week for blood tests as they want to be sure this is a new pregnancy and not just hormones left over from the last one. I'm absolutely sure it's a new one, 100%, but should have confirmation in the next few days.

Fingers crossed .....

smallone · 14/02/2009 09:41

I'm 5 weeks today, yey! I think dh is coming to terms with it now, anyone would think this was an accident! In his mind I don't think I'm really pg till I'm showing! I did do another test and show it to him, which seems to have helped, don't think he understands how reliable they are. Made my GP appt for 24th so will be 6+3 and hope to get a scan around 10wks which is when I had the last one. So maybe only 5 weeks to go before I can tell people.

Managed to get by yesterday without anyone guessing I think, my friend brought her 6 day old so he took most of the attention!

altagloria · 14/02/2009 10:02

Have not been on the last few days due to rising levels of panic about something going wrong, despite having no particular reason to think it will.

I think it's actually just because I don't really have any symptoms, well no nausea at all. I had uterine cramps through most of last week (which was week 6) but none the last two days. I do have an intermittent metallic taste in my mouth and am tired but that's not really convincing me!

Have reassured myself that it is on the early side for major symptoms and that not everybody gets them anyway.

So I have metaphorically slapped myself around the head a few times and decided to assume the best unless something actually does go wrong. Which, statistically, it probably won't.

Sorry for long post and whingeing, but does anyone else feel like this?!

CalypsoFlame · 14/02/2009 10:41

Sorry to hear some of you have had some sad news since I was last on, lots of good wishes for the near future X

Feeling a bit down as had to cancel dinner out tonight for Valentines, bah. It's our 12th 'being together' anniversary too, but as for evening meals I've been eating half a plate of pasta with a spoonful of chopped tomato (and some grilled chicken if I'm feeling adventurous!), I think it would be a waste of time and money for us to go. Have promised self, a trip there once the sickness has passed .

To all those not so afflicted, I hope you enjoy any special dining tonight .

Treats I'm booked into Guys too, not due to go there for anything until mid-March though, what were your first impression of the services there?

smallone · 14/02/2009 10:43

altagloria, I am more worried about this pregnancy than I was with dd, although my symptoms have started earlier with this one which can only be a good sign. I told my family at 8wks last time but I want to wait to see the scan this time. I may well cave in before then tho! TBH I think ignorance is bliss and the more you know the more you worry. I am slightly more at risk this time coz of my bowel condition but as long as I stay hydrated and get enough vits I should be ok.

I hope we all have very healthy pregnancies and our worries are completely unfounded!

BellaCullen · 14/02/2009 14:46

Hello everyone,

hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend and good Valentines day. Nausea not too bad and still havent been sick.Waiting for that to happen as it did with dd but hope it wont. Now 7 weeks so only 5 more till scan, hopefully. cant wait to go to the Baby show in 2 Weeks should be quite good.

KleineMaus · 15/02/2009 14:00

Hi there, Have just bought some of those travel sickness bands and they actually seem to work! I still don't feel great, but not quite as sick as I did. Hooray! I don't know why I didn't bother trying them last time.
DH has now twice muttered about how I'm 'not eating for two yet you know!' Boo! Meany. Maybe he's still annoyed that I did nothing for Valentine's Day yesterday, not that he did either. I just really wasn't in the mood!
I still haven't made a doctor's appointment and I'm 8 weeks next week, don't know why I'm putting it off. Must do it tomorrow.

HumphreysCorner · 15/02/2009 14:20

I haven't phoned up yet either and I will be 8 weeks on Thursday

Hope all OK.
