Here goes-I got a BFP on DPO 11 which makes me due 1st October. Was going to avoid the antenatal thread until I was completely sure but have already done 3 tests and am still not convinced. Come on and join in the worry fun.

Had my blood taken and the hcg was 3000 which sounds good, but I since had more bleeding and the gynae @ A&E said it may be an incomplete mc. I have a scan tomorrow morning so I'll know for sure then.

sammysam · 11/02/2009 08:30

Morning ladies, welcome to all the newbies

Varicose- Good luck at the scan, i hope everything is ok

Treats-god luck as well-keeping my fingers crossed for you!

DD is ill so was up a lot last night again...
my mum is coming for the day today to keep me company since dp is away.....I'm not sure i'll be able to cover up how i'm feeling so maybe it's best to tell her rather than her guess??! Also got to go and try bridesmaids dresses on on sat (mum will be there) and my sis told the ladies in the shop about me so there is a chance they'd say something-maybe I should just tell her-esp. as I had to tell my sis........just wish I was able to hold off til a safer time.

Still not really found anything i can eat although the gnocchi (sp) dd demanded asked for last night I managed to eat at least some.

smallone · 11/02/2009 09:12

treats good luck with your scan

altagloria Hi! Congratulations, when I went to gp with #1 he said that once you get to 6 weeks you're at less risk of mc. Not sure why, but it made me feel better.

varicoseveined sorry you're having a rough time, I hope the scan goes well.

HC I think I got the same batch of ms as you. It started on sunday and is gettin worse daily, so far only nausea and gagging but I'm worried because I don't remember getting ms till 6 weeks with dd so I think I might be in for a tough time. I had it badly with her 6-20 wks but I'm not working this time so I hope that will make things easier. I also don't think I'll be able to hide it from my friends as they've all got kids/are pg. I want to wait until at least I've had my scan before I tell anyone.

MrsPuddleduck · 11/02/2009 09:40

Morning all

HappyTangerine - so sorry about your dog.

I don't seem to able to stop eating at this rate I will be in my maternity jeans in a fortnight

thefunkypea · 11/02/2009 09:56

Hi everyone, sorry I've been gone for a while... sorting a few things out at work. Was supposed to be doing a trip to the far east when hopefully I'd be about 10wks - got cold feet about going - so I told my boss the news. [shock reaction, had to remind him to say congrats...]
Anyway, he immediately started thinking about mat cover and making plans (and I'm still hoping to get to 12 wks ).
And then the worst irony is that I've been having some spotting, and weird pains (little stabbing ones, no cramps)... so who knows what will happen...

Cazza28 · 11/02/2009 10:41

Good Morning All,

thefunkypea my doctor said spotting was quite normal so try not to worry to much. Can you you get an appointment with the Dr. to put your mind at rest?

I feel totally normal today not feeling anything!

varicoseveined any news with the scan yet?

patmum · 11/02/2009 10:43

Oh Blimey funkypea good luck.

I'm wondering about work too. We have a very small company and as one of the fee earners, me being off for a few months at the end of the year will be awkward. I was very up front with my boss last year and said that I intend to try to have a baby in 2009 so that she was forewarned. But now that I'm there I'm in a quandry. Part of me thinks that I should tell her early so that she can get a wriggle on and recruit someone new to help with my workload but then the rest of me thinks I don't want to go public yet!

They were sure about recruiting but now that the recession has hit I think that they're thinking twice and all in all it just equates to more stress for me.

Last time with ds I had an ectopic scare so I did tell my then boss (I've moved jobs since) so that if I was off all of a sudden then he was forewarned. As it turned out, all was fine and I progressed with a healthy pregnancy.

Is anyone else in a similar situation? I guess if you're suffering MS then it may be quite apparent but (luckily) I'm not. I'm just shattered. But that's not that much different from normal.

smallone · 11/02/2009 11:08

willmouse I've just chain eaten half a packet of cream crackers! and I've just dug out my maternity jeans to see what state they're in!

funky I hope you're ok, I keep getting stabbing pains in the cervix which are most unpleasant but I remember getting them last time and all was fine, where are your pains?

patmum when are you planning on starting your mat leave? They're not going to be able to recruit now for months ahead so I wouldn't feel too bad about leaving them in the dark for another month or so.

Why is it that time stands still when you're pg? Its even slower than waiting for af!

thefunkypea · 11/02/2009 11:15

Hi smallone - the pains are low down, but slightly to the right, not sure if cervix or not. I'm trying to be philosophical, what will be and all that, but it's not stopping me fretting. Not sure I want to see the Dr, at my new surgery even the MW doesn't want to see me until 10wks, so I can just imagine the reaction if I see the doctor at 6 wks

patmum · 11/02/2009 11:18

They're talking about recruiting a new permanent member of staff anyway and the new person would likely have 3 months notice to give. So if I wait until I'm 12 weeks and it takes them 2 to 3 months to find someone, then they have 3 months notice to give, that doesn't leave any time for change over/client liaison etc. I'll just see how it goes. I've been so dipsy that I'm sure someone will figure it out soon anyway!

smallone · 11/02/2009 11:29

Patmum, do you think your boss could keep it secret? At my last job, we knew someone was pg but only the area manager knew who it was for ages.

funky, I'm sure the Dr would see you if you're concerned, if not they needs a good talking to from a hormonal woman! Do you have any female Drs at your surgery?

ChucklesMcMummy · 11/02/2009 11:33

Hi All and welcome newbies

Feeling better today, managed to get to work this morning without crying and still doing ok.

I just check my works regs on maternity leave, and they seem to be in line with most other places. You need to inform your boss 15 weeks before you wish to take maternity leave so that leaves plenty of time before we legally need to tell them. I'm not planning on saying anything until at least week 12 when I've had the scan. I've got the added problem of redundancy hanging over me too so want to play a very careful game and not give any reason for them to find a way to get rid of me. I know that they can't get rid due to pregnancy but they could find another way.

Hope you all have a good day. xx

patmum · 11/02/2009 11:50

Thanks for the reality check chuckles there are far more important things to worry about. I'll just shut up and see what happens.

LittleMissBliss · 11/02/2009 13:07

Just checking in to see if there was any news. Hope all goes well today x

ChucklesMcMummy · 11/02/2009 13:44

patmum - hope you didn't think I was being rude, I'd just been looking into the official line last night. I'm in a similar position, if I leave it too late, they won't be able to find anyone, but that's really their problem. If I manage to keep my job in the redundancy drive then I may well let them know earlier. I guess it's a play it by ear situation for all of us.

But you're right. No point worrying till at least 12 weeks. Saying that, I'm having a good day today. If you'd asked me yesterday I'd have told you the world was ending!

Cazza28 · 11/02/2009 13:50

I am getting so board of this waiting till 12 weeks! I keep checking a pregnancy calendar every so often it just doesn't seem to move! I thought the 2WW was bad but this wait definitely wins!

Was getting a bit worried I didn't have symptoms this morning, I am now dizzy, sick and tired and have sore boobs.

Dose any ones pre-natal vitamins make them feel queasy?

patmum · 11/02/2009 14:03

chuckles - don't worry. I meant it. I used to be such a rational person that now I seem to find myself losing perspective alarmingly frequently.

I already did them a favour really in warning them last year of a possible pregnancy. If they want to act on it then that's up to them.

Just think , I could leave it until 12 weeeks then something could still go wrong. So there's no hard and fast rule. All this means is that nothing is at all certain so I should really just do what's right for me. Hence the "I'll just shut up and see what happens". If an opportunity arises that I feel comfortable with then I'll tell her. If it doesn't then she can find out in due course. Either way I should quit worrying about it as that's not doing me any good at all!

idreamofbeanie · 11/02/2009 14:20

What a lovely doctor I have - just been to book in and he was so nice . Just said a big congratulations, listened to my heart and checked I had an appointment with the midwife arranged. I was expecting all the mc warnings and to be told off for being overweight but he just said to eat healthily during pregnancy and I'll be fine and that I have more chance of a healthy pregnancy than a mc plus I can't prevent it anyway so I should just relax and enjoy being pregnant. I walked out with a huge smile feeling really happy - all GPs should have his training.

idreamofbeanie · 11/02/2009 14:21

Sorry - didn't even say Hi to everyone . Just so relieved to have had a positive response to the pregnancy!

BellaCullen · 11/02/2009 14:34

hello everyone

Happytangerine will let you know how it goes still waiting for DVD to arrive.Hope it will do some good.Have got a Wii fit too will try going on that again just haven`t felt up to it yet.

My cramps have stopped but have a few sharp pains when I get up wrong from sofa will make sure I get up properly.Eating something seems to help with the sickness.Gone off chocolate too sweet things make me feel sick.Savoury stuff seems to help which is odd as I`ve definitely got a sweet tooth.

HumphreysCorner · 11/02/2009 14:49

Hi everyone

Feeling doom and gloom today as my sickness seems to have disappeared overnight and I have the most terrible cramping. Even my boobs don't seem as sore. It feels just like the time before my MC so will have to wait and see.

Will check back for news on scans.

HC I have cramping at the moment like sharp shooting pains I have just been reading other posts and a lot of them same its from ligaments stretching, hope you are ok xx

idreamofbeanie · 11/02/2009 15:33

Hi HC - I really hope it's not anything serious. Its so hard to know whether these aches and pains are normal or not but I hope its just a bit of stretching!

smallone · 11/02/2009 15:35

Hope you're ok HC I've got my sea bands on today to help with the sickness and I keep taking them off to check its still there

idream I've got a lovely GP too, always feel bad for other people who have rubbish ones. Only problem is he's so good its really hard to get an appt with him, and he's always running 30mins late coz he spends so much time with each patient. I don't mind waiting tho, rather than see one of those "it's your weight/virus/one of those things" doctors.

cazza I took pregnacare with dd and had to take them before bed otherwise they made me really sick. I'm on a standard multivit and folic acid at the mo which seems to be ok. Its usually the iron that makes you sick. Let it clear your stomach before you have tea aswell. Something I discovered when I was a student as I was chucking up my morning cuppa everyday for a week until I realised it was the iron tablet I was taking with it.

varicoseveined · 11/02/2009 15:38

Hiya,

Had the scan, now I'm even more confused, lol

There's a chance it could be an ectopic pregnancy as they couldn't see the baby in my womb but they said as the hcg was so high, the baby could be in the womb after all but just hidden from view. The consultant was happy though as I've not had any pain and said I look well. Not sure what's causing the bleeds, though none since yesterday. More blood tests tomorrow, bit of a rollercoaster experience.
