Here goes-I got a BFP on DPO 11 which makes me due 1st October. Was going to avoid the antenatal thread until I was completely sure but have already done 3 tests and am still not convinced. Come on and join in the worry fun.

Just eaten cream crackers and cheese. [sicky emoticon]

Anyone else freezing cold all the time? Mum said it was my blood sugar levels dropping.

Hi HC - I've been feeling the cold too which is quite unusual for me. I'm okay when I'm up and doing something but when I'm sitting at my desk or on the sofa I get chilled really quickly.

Still feeling really queasy but going to try to eat some soup and a sandwich for lunch. Wish me luck!

sammysam · 02/02/2009 12:36

Wow-I knew I wouldn't be able to catch up after the weekend but really ladies

Welcome to all the newbies! Finally managed to get hold of the midwife as we kept missing each other-as I thought the gp booked me a bit early so we have changed it so i'll be 8-9weeks!

I feel so so sick As soon as I wake up then all day-with dd i wasn't ill in the morning-just from lunch onwards so at least I got to east bfast and lunch on a good day I'm having so much trouble eating and drinking-I almost thought my mum would guess at the weekend-god knows how I managed to hide how rough i'm feeling

I've been having loads of nasty and saucy dreams as well....
I'm cold as well...
cramps still there on and off, back has been very bad, very tired and grumpy-mum DID notice this-I have massive dark circles under my eyes, and although I am emotional normally it have shifted up a gear

Hvae bought some travel sickness bands to try and help but bought the adult ones-I think my wrists are child size so I'm not sure they are tight enough

Sorry to go on but I can't believe how sick I feel-I look like this--> Midwife joked this morning that maybe its a boy

Hope everyone has had a good weekend!

HumphreysCorner · 02/02/2009 14:20

Much sympathy sammysam. I am hoping I won't actually be sick but don't usually get away with it.

The snow is amazing today!

Still very tired but generally a much better day today!

We told MIL last night as we were invited over for dinner, she was over the moon.

October seems like light years away. 5 weeks today only 35 to go.

LittleMissBliss · 02/02/2009 15:00

p.s glad the tips have helped.

Enjoy the snow Bella! We have a couple of inches here but I can walk to work so no hope of a day off.

HumphreysCorner · 02/02/2009 18:11

Hello and welcome ChucklesMcMummy and congratulations to you. Yes, we all have different experiences between us so can help each other.

If I keep on eating like this to curb the nausea I will be huge. At this rate I need to eat every hour or I feel dreadful.

Can't wait to go to bed and sleep but need to try and stay awake to watch the gorgeous Rupert Penry-Jones at 9pm.

OMG HumphreysCorner I am the same! All I am doing - particularly as no work due to snow - is eating, sleeping and feeling sick, and eating again to feel better!

I am now ravenous and looking forward to dinner! It is all I can do to stop myself eating a pre-dinner dinner lol!

My boobs are sore now too which is a new addition to the symptom spotting! I did have a cramp last night which woke me up and I spent 2 minutes terrified that it was game over - but then it vanished and next thing I knew I woke up and felt sick again! Oh, the joys!

BeckyAu · 02/02/2009 19:18

Hello ladies may I join you? All being well I'm due around 4th October (so the online calcultor thingywhatsit says). I have DD 1, so am currently slightly freaked at how I'll manage 2, but nevertheless utterly delighted.

I too am eating for England! I feel sick so I eat (ready salted square crisps are fantastic as is raisin bread!)which helps, then an hour later I feel sick again and this goes on all day. It did with DD too but I put on a stone with her, which I didn't lose (or attempt to if I'm honest) til Christmas, and had nearly lost the first half stone then discovered I am pregnant. Must try not to live in the bakers as I did before else I will expand to the size of a house. However, our health and wellbeing is more important than a few extra calories

So congratulations to everyone - what fantastic and wonderful news for us all xxx

Treats · 02/02/2009 19:23

Hi everyone. I've been at home all day today as I couldn't get to work (I'm in London) and was soooo grateful for an extra day of lying around. Feeling very very sleepy. Had a bout of nausea today - only lasted an hour or so and didn't actually vom, so wasn't too bad. I've been feeling cold as well - not hard in this weather obviously - but it's more a sort of internal chill....... And I've been absolutely starving all day - the worst thing about being at home is the close and constant proximity to the fridge!!!

Told my sister yesterday. Was so surprised to find myself shaking with nerves beforehand. She was thrilled for us, and is looking forward to being an auntie. But we didn't talk much about it after the initial announcement - I think it was hard for her although she didn't show it.

Used the day off to register with a new GP. My current GP is crap and as it's a one man band, I don't get the opportunity to see a lady doctor. It didn't bother me too much before, but now that I'm pregnant, I feel I should take things a bit more seriously. Will make an appt in the next couple of days.

Hi Amelied - you see - it was a lucky thread!! Hope everything is going smoothly for you.

Hi RubyBuckleberry and Chucklesmcmummy.

patmum · 02/02/2009 20:08

I think that I'm just being lucky so far and not getting much in the way of nausea but what does help and was really useful last time was to munch on a single ginger nut biscuit.

Not keen on them but it seems to do the trick for me. Raises the blood sugar enough to get going and then soon after have something relatively low GI. My blood sugar seems to be all over the place so I really do try to eat little and often to try to keep them fairly stable and that seems to help with the nausea.

It was the one thing that I totally dreaded about pregnancy last time. I have a total phobia about being sick. I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be lucky again and remain fairly queasy free.

Nursery was closed to day but I don't work Mondays so it was okay. However, if it's shut again tomorrow then I guess I'm going to be taking a day off. DH started a new job today so he can't exactly cry off. Child care is fine when all is going well but as soon as something goes wrong everything goes belly up!

Oh well, can't anticipate trouble (or at least shouldn't). I guess I'll find the energy from somewhere!! How do people do motherhood 7 days per week (esp if pregnant)? I really admire them!

doggus · 02/02/2009 20:09

Welcome to the lovely newbies!

I checked in with my GP today and sort of tried to get an early scan on the grounds of a previous miscarriage and my great age but she wasn't having any of it. So I'm back to a private scan next week.

I too am eating and drinking for Britain. When I get up I am fine, but the nausea comes on strong at 4pm just as ds starts getting a bit tired and crabby. Great!

thefunkypea · 02/02/2009 20:09

Hi all, still no symptoms here..... crowning achievement for the day was falling flat on my back in a foot of snow on the way back from Sainsburys and then being completely paranoid about potential damage done all day...

HumphreysCorner · 02/02/2009 20:18

Hello and welcome BeckyAu and big congratulations. You will be fine with two children BTW. I tend to live on stodgy pancakes as they seem to fill my stomach and soak up the acid. Did look at the eggs tonight but had a baked potato instead. Have added you to the list.

Hello. I am new to all of this and not entirely sure what all the abbreviations mean! DS? DH?

Not been to see the doctor yet but am guessing that I'm due early October. I am dying to tell people but been advised to keep sssh until 13 weeks. That seems so far away!

I am so excited, first pregnancy

LaTourEiffel · 02/02/2009 21:11

Hi everyone, just got a BFP (OK, so I got a faint one on Friday but I had to double check!), EDD is about 8th Oct which fills in a gap!

Had a late mc at 11 weeks (after 6 months of ttc) at the beginning of Sept, Jan was our first month ttc after that so am very pleased but also very cautious.

amelied · 02/02/2009 21:12

Hi Treats

Unfortunately I had my third miscarriage at 11 weeks. Being investigated again so hopefully we get an answer.

Glad all is well with you - will lurk and keep up with your news.

Best wishes
Amelied

HappyTangerine · 02/02/2009 21:22

Hi from another newbie,I think I'm almost 6 weeks pg, online due date calculator thingy puts me at 30 Sept/1 Oct. I'm 35 and we've been trying for just over 2 years so this is a complete shock. Its our first.

My dog has been behaving really weirdly, whiny, v over-protective,off her food following me around like a shadow. Somehow during the past few nights, she has got into the bedroom and when we wake up, her head is on my tummy. Was googling to see why she was acting so oddly and thought I'd better rule out pg before I took her to the vet. Found a spare test from ages ago and used it-was absolutely gobsmacked when it was positive. Had it spelt out this morning with C digital, which put me at 5+ weeks.

Only symptoms at the moment are constant abdominal cramps, a bit like when I had the noro virus, some twinges down below and a little heartburn and nausea. If there's anything else, the shock is masking it!

Congrats to you all, looking forward to getting to know you

idreamofbeanie · 02/02/2009 21:36

Hi all, welcome to the newbies - please add youselves to the list when you feel ready.

Kitty - DS/H is darling son/husband etc. There is a list of acronyms somewhere on the website if you do a quick search.

LaTour good to see you over here. I don't feel brave enough to add myself to the wagon list yet , think I might wait until at least 8 weeks.

Well I have been feeling queasy all day - lunch helped a bit but it came back an hour later. Came home and ate a HUGE plate of pasta and felt much better until now. To be honest the sickness is quite reassuring but I think I might get fed up if it carries on for the next 7 weeks or more.

idreamofbeanie · 02/02/2009 22:47

I need some advice please. My brother and I haven't really gotten on very well over the last few years - he was quite immature and I was a bossy nagging big sister, nothing major but we didn't generally keep in touch. He and his girlfriend had a baby last year and it prompted us to have a big talk and sort everything out. We've been getting on really well. They have just come into a little money and they want to rent a villa next summer so the whole family can go away for a holiday together. It seems quite important to them - they just called to ask if we want to go as they want to book early to get a discount and are working out how many rooms they will need. The thing is they want to go at the end of Aug/start of September so we will be there for their DDs first birthday. If all goes well I'll be about 8 months then so I'm not sure I can go. I didn't really want to tell them I'm pregnant this early (DB can't keep a secret so the whole family will find out) but they'll be hurt if I say no with no good reason. On the other hand I don't want to say yes then back out in a few weeks when they'll know that I knew I was pregnant when I said yes. I didn't think quickly enough when he was on phone or I would have made up a wedding or something. What should I do?

ChucklesMcMummy · 02/02/2009 23:13

Hi
Thanks for all the welcome messages. Not feeling too bad today. All weekend I thought I was going to pop as I was soooo bloated but that seems to have eased and the stomach cramps have gone too. Still have a nagging dull headache but think I need to drink more water.

Idreamofbeanie - that's a tough one. I guess it depends how much you don't want people to find out. If he's gone through the same thing with his own child then maybe he's more mature now, being a Dad and all?

HappyTangerine - my youngest dog is being very clingy too. Follows me everywhere and has started growling if I ignore him when he want attention. I'm going to find out What Cesar Millan makes of it all lol.

Hope you all have a peaceful night and enjoy snowday tomorrow if it happens. I shall be sitting in the window with my mug of hot choc and marshmallows watching the children in the street play

Sleep well xx

sammysam · 03/02/2009 09:03

Morning ladies and all the new joiners
More snow I'm like a little kid-dp thinks i'm crazy.....but he is off skiing on sunday so it really isn't a biggy for him

I'm feeling so so sick and know i'll progress to actually being sick much earlier than with dd and with her it lasted a good 5months
I'm so of all of you how can eat and feel better....I can't at all-the thought of eating makes me feel worse, as does actually eating but i'm forcing myself to try. The cravings for certain things that I had last week have now been overtaken by feeling too sick to think about it!!!

Beanie-I had a similar situation a couple of days after my BFP-my sis was booking her hen do (a week in corfu) for the end of sep start of oct-I felt I had no choice and had to tell her as I went through every other scenario and nothing worked (eg if I booked then pulled out everyones price would o up, my mum and sis would be away over due date and would be really sad etc etc) I was so worried about telling her-because i'm very supersticous AND she has NEVER been able to keep a secret...so far she has though touch wood-even from my mum It's a tough one but I felt it was best to be honest to avoid all kinds of problems.....

Can't do any of my trousers up-as they are all tight now and feel very uncomfortable and also make me feel sick when I do

We have no food in the house and I have little desire to go to the supermarket...especially in the snow....ho hum

Hope everyone is enjoying the snow I love the light it is creating in our house
