Here goes-I got a BFP on DPO 11 which makes me due 1st October. Was going to avoid the antenatal thread until I was completely sure but have already done 3 tests and am still not convinced. Come on and join in the worry fun.

Oh RubyBuckleberry congratulations

That's fantastic! I'm sure it will stick for you this time but I know what you mean about being nervous waiting for the scan - I can't wait.

I've started feeling a bit nauseaus around 10.30 or 11ish but if I eat something I feel better and so far that's about it for ms. Still have sore boobs and am sleeping loads plus I'm hungry all day but trying not to eat too much, I'm already a bit overweight.

Treats · 31/01/2009 17:06

Hi guys.

doggus - glad to hear you're feeling better - and that you've done your last test! Sorry to hear that ectopics are common in your family - are you able to get an early scan?

HC - at your MIL and SIL. It's SO not any business of theirs - and fancy telling you that you have to give birth to a boy - as if pregnancy wasn't stressful enough!

BellaCullen - sorry to hear about your SIL. I have the same situation with my sister - she's ttc but not at the IVF stage yet. Some time ago we made a pact that if either of us get pregnant we would tell the other first. DH and I have made a loose arrangement to meet up for lunch with her and her DH tomorrow, but i don't think she suspects why..... We're going to tell both our parents next week, so my sis will have a week to digest the news before she has to face the ordeal of my mum getting all excited by it.

But I might just be projecting. I know how devastated I would have felt if she'd got pregnant after we'd been trying for such a long time, and I'm assuming that she'll feel the same. She might be perfectly cool with it. And if she 'falls' in the next few months or so, we could share the experience which would be brilliant!

Hi to everyone else and welcome to the newbies......

RubyBuckleberry · 31/01/2009 17:47

thanks idreamofbeanie

have been asleep ALL afternoon?!?!?!?!?! and am now starving!

thefunkypea · 31/01/2009 19:22

RubyBuckleberry I'm so - asleep all afternoon!!! I was dealing a 2 yr old tantrum for most of the afternoon, and trying not to get kicked square in the stomach....

RubyBuckleberry · 31/01/2009 19:32

Oh no thefunkypea what a nightmare! I could go to sleep now - I feel like I have been drugged! I also feel sick though which is a bit strange...

BellaCullen · 31/01/2009 19:54

hi evreyone,
treats hope it goes well with your sister. Will probably tell my SIL on 22nd as Im meeting her for shopping trip without kids so will be good opportunity then. Also will give few more weeks to see if all goes ok with pregnancy. thefunkypea terrible twos are hard work but it will get better.Saying that my dd is nearly 3 and seemed to have had terrible tantrums since she been 1.She also storms off to her room now when she doesnt get what she wants.
Has anyone been to the babyshow in ExCel London its at end of Feb,looks quite good. Can`t wait to look at all the buggies.

doggus · 31/01/2009 20:03

Many congrats Ruby! HC - you gave me an idea. I worked out my ovulation day and in fact it was really late, day 18. So in fact I am a week less pregnant that I think I am. The pregnancy test must have done it job and given me a result six days early. So in fact the conception test was accurate in that I am between 4 and 5 weeks preg, what a relief.

Treats - no I am not using a conception stick again no way never! My little heart plummetted when it gave me the 'wrong' result. As for ectopics, both my mum and her sister had them and it's the reason I am an only child - my poor mum had to have a hysterectomy with hers. Mind you this was the early 1970s, would not be like that now!

doggus · 31/01/2009 20:06

funkypea and treats - my 19 month old ds is a gifted tantrum thrower and has had them since he was 11 months old. He has just started headbanging which is hideous because he looks absolutely bonkers. In our local shopping centre yesterday he threw himself onto the tarmac outside Next and dramatically bumped his head over and over on the floor. People were actually watching like he was a busker! I said 'no' and picked him up and cuddled him. I've tried the ignoring technique but it seems to make him worse.

LittleMissBliss · 31/01/2009 20:08

AAAh i hate the new mumsnet far too clinical with everything in little boxes. Just changed it back to mumsnet classic! Much better.

Hi to all the new BFP congratulaions !
Very tired too. Have a smashing pair of bags under my eyes.

Ds is at MIL's but is coming home in a minute in his jimjams and getting straight into bed, last time he stayed over night he was in such a mood for 3 days i daren't risk it again. Feel bad for MIL as she's lovel and nothing to do with her ability to look after him, just think he thrives on routine at the moment.

Off to watch a rubbish film dp has rented in a minute then off to bed as have to work tomo.

HumphreysCorner · 31/01/2009 20:56

Hello and welcome RubyBuckleberry and congratulations!

doggus-I seem to OV really early so that is probably why I got the 3+ result.

Our day has ended dreadfully. Went to B&Q then the Pizza Hut then called in at PIL at 7pm. The girls were really tired and hyper and then DH went upstairs with his dad on the computer for 30 mins. During this time the girls were running, screaming and climbing all over the settee. Knocking cups and ornaments. Several times I said to stop, MIL said nothing. In the end I seperated them and said that's enough! When DH came down I said it was time to go and I'm not putting up with it. He said they are always like that at PIL and I said that they don't do that at my parents or our house so they are not to do it there. Apparently MIL lets them do it and never says no. FIL thought I was being unreasonable and that I didn't know how to look after them. I was so cross and DH accused me of speaking to him as if he was a child-I did not!

Thanks for letting me rant! FIL is one of these that doesn't speak to you for ages if you upset him in any way.

RubyBuckleberry · 01/02/2009 10:42

thanks for warm welcome everybody ... i was wondering, what do you all say to people when you get invited out for drinks etc and you can't drink cos your preggers but you are not comfortable telling anyone at such an early stage. I am finding it all a bit stressful as I want to wait to see if all is ok, but am finding it annoying when well meaning friends say come on have a drink... any advice / stories / excuses much appreciated... xxx

HumphreysCorner · 01/02/2009 11:22

I am going to mum and dad's later for a post Christmas Dinner with my bro, SIL and nephews but dad is intructed to water any wine down with soda water. Haven't touched a drop of wine since my BFP so this will be the first weak drink. Don't want bro and SIL to guess. Feel so nauseous today and don't really want any wine but that would give the game away.

Have a good day ladies

Hi all hope you've had a good weekend.

Just had a rubbish day at work so tired because ds has a cold and was up all last night and dp sleeps through anything, so i had to do all of the settling.

There was a really good thread last week about hiding the fact that you are not drinking, had a search but can't find it.

the best tips were.

  • Tell the bar man that you're not drinking and ask him to water down a dash of apple juice in a wine glass for you, looks just like wine and is normally free.

*Get one drink and just sip at it all night, sips wont do any harm.

*White wine spritzers, mostly lemonade tonic water.

*Tell one friend/dp that you are pregnant and say loudly as he/she goes to the bar 'mine will be a double vodka and coke', they'll just bring you back a coke and friends are none the wiser.

*Swap drinks with dp.

*Make sure you are driving if asked out.

AtibioticsMake sure you always have a drink in your hand, people won't really notice if you are drinking or not, if its a stand up do and you are wondering arround.

Hope they help!

RubyBuckleberry · 01/02/2009 16:10

Thanks LittleMiss they are great ideas! Thanks alot!

Sorry about your rubbish day . I am hoping we all get sent home from work tomorrow due to snow! Fingers crossed ...

doggus · 01/02/2009 17:33

It's SO cold here, and there are little flakes of snow whirling about in sunny Dorset.

I KNOW I am pregnant because I dreamt I was having an affair with David Beckham last night whilst two-timing him with Simon Cowell.

idreamofbeanie · 01/02/2009 18:18

Thanks for the non-drinking tips littlemiss (I hope you managed a little afternoon nap). I have a hen do coming up in a couple of weeks and was at a bit of a loss for how to handle it. The 'hen' is the fiancee of a good friend of DPs. I know her quite well but def not well enough to share my news.

doggus - LOL at your dreams!

We had a lovely day today walking round a lovely park with pretty river and lake but I felt quite sick on and off. Still feel a bit queasy but tummy is also a bit gurgly/growly IYKWIM even though I'm not hungry. Didn't expect that with ms. Hope this isn't the start of a tummy bug.

HumphreysCorner · 01/02/2009 21:52

Managed OK today drinkswise-had a watered down with soda water wine then at the table my dad poured a glass of wine which I sipped twice then when nobody was looking I tipped it into DH's glass. Am very bloated after my Christmas Dinner though-very painful infact. Still feeling nauseous, not had it start this early before. Hope it's not twins.

V. tired so crawling into bed soon.

HumphreysCorner · 02/02/2009 09:42

Morning ladies

Can't believe how bad my nausea is at this early stage. Can I stand this for another 12/15 weeks? Eww!

theboob-I feel I am bursting out of my trousers so may be buying some maternity jeans sooner rather than later.

Not too much snow here so schools open as normal.

Have a good day girls!

Morning all, woke up this morning feeling nauseous - it's not too bad but looks set to hang around all day. I haven't noticed my trousers getting tighter yet but as I mentioned before I'm a bit overweight anyway so don't think I'll see any changes in shape this early. I'm hoping not to put too much on so I'm watching what I eat but for some reason when I feel sick I really want some coke or hard-boiled sweets. I will resist!
