Spotty are you ok? Just seen your FB status- are they still going?

Pempe · 25/01/2009 08:40

Lardy I hope you're feeling ok today - sending hugs your way from Greece.

Heading off to Athens today - the farmers have unfortunately decided to blockade the roads over here, including the one that we travel on today, but get this - we spoke to the police for that region and they said they would escort us past the blockade - how cool is that?

Feels very strange to know that when we come back home from Athens, we will have a baby with us Am scurrying about packing now (or should be)

MarkStretch · 25/01/2009 08:45

Wow GO PEMPE!

Can't wait to hear back when you have your little baby in your arms!

mumoverseas · 25/01/2009 08:52

yay, an imminent baby. Good luck Pempe x

rosieposey · 25/01/2009 08:58

Hi all

Have been offline for a few days but have skimmed the thread a bit and have tried to catch up. Firstly huge congrats to oooggs and Dinkymum on their babies - thats lovely news

Spotty hope things are happening for you and you are doing ok ... will be watching the thread (and FB), avidly for an announcment)If not hope that you are coping ok with the discomfort that you must be in poor you

Lardy am so sorry to hear about what happened yesterday, that sounds bloody awful but am relieved to hear that that the three of you are ok. Just rest up as best as possible today if you can ok.

Pempe - good luck with getting to Athens and with your c section, you will have your baby very soon yay!

IDBI you are sheduled for your section tomorrow arent you? Just wanted to say good luck and am very that you will be holding your lo so soon

Well as soon as tomorrow is here i will at least be able to say that i next week i am having a baby ( albeit at the end of the week ) Have been really struggling on these bloody BP tablets, no nasty side effects like headaches really although have felt a bit sick a couple times just have this awful awful tiredness and groggyness Have been just about unable to do anything as sleep all day and all night, apparently according to the doctor i will get used to them though but its been 11 days so i hope its soon as cant get anything at all done except sleep sleep sleep and its just rubbish - im only up for about 6 to 8 hours a day! Am on iron tablets as of yesterday as iron count is right down apparently so i suppose thats not helping much with the tiredness - fingers crossed this week that i will get a last minute energy burst from somewhere, im not used to being this lazy!

littleboyblue · 25/01/2009 09:00

Spotty You ok? Sure baby being quiet doesn't have anything to do with the tens whatsoever. Maybe s/he is saving energy ready to be born later today/tomorrow.

Pempe Goodluck, hope all goes well.

Ds finally fell asleep at 6:30, he drifted off for a few mins here and there from 3:30ish so have spent 3 hours in and out of his room. I did try to stay in with him, but it seems to get him either too worked up or too excited so you have to leave him and just pop in and out for little strokes and kisses. At about 4:30 he was wide awake listening to the traffic noise and sayin car, car, car. Thought at 1 point we'd just get up then.
He is soooo snotty and think he's got another tooth coming so in the end I gave him so teething gel and a dose of medised, he slept til just gone 8 but hasn't had any breakfast so is digging in to the grapes.

dinkystinky · 25/01/2009 09:30

Spotty - hope you're ok. Sounds like something might be happening for you today - best of luck!

Good luck to you Pempe (most impressed at your police escort) - look forward to hearing from you when you're back with your little one.

LBB, Chilled - hope you both get some napping time in today. Sorry your little man is in the teething wars LBB - not what you need with pregnancy related insomnia eating into your sleeping hours anyway. Chilled - just speak to your jabs lady when little one is here about innoculations if you go to DC (pretty sure is similar to here though know over in US they regularly immunise infants against Chickenpox too so there may be some additional jabs your little one will need to have when you get out there).

MoS - sorry to hear you're in so much pain; really hope the physio sorts you out.

Rosie - wow, not long to go until the little man is here now. I guess its a good thing you're getting all that sleep in - your body obviously needs it and will hopefully help that you're well rested when the little man arrives (easier to cope with the recuperation etc. etc.) Am sure that being anaemic is probably making you more tired; iron tablets can make you constipated though so you may wish to try Spatone or Floradix (what my iron-deficient pregnant friends did last time round when i was pregnant with DS - available from health food stores/chemists) which apparently helps raise iron levels without the bunging up side effects.

Lardy - I hope you had a better night's rest last night and that you and your DD are now well on the mend. Sending you lots of hugs still.

IDBI - hope you and DD have another good day today and best of luck for tomorrow. Look forward to hearing about the arrival of your little one - wonder whose baby will arrive first, yours, Spotty's or Pempe's

DH is taking DS out to a friend's little girl's christening this morning and staying there for lunch so I get most of the day to myself - planning on mooching around in my pyjamas some more this morning, then yoga and then washing last of baby related stuff (including the covers from DS's baby car seat which are disgusting!)

thehouseofmirth · 25/01/2009 09:39

Morning all!

Pempe good luck. A police escort is very exciting! Make sure you take a photo for your baby book!

Rosie I was wondeirng where you were. Sorry tablets are making you feel so crap. Will you be able to come off them when the baby's born or is it a long term thing?

A sleepless night here too, for a change. Had backache and period pains all yesterday evening which made me decide I urgently needed to update DS's baby book ( just in case I die in labour...) so went to bed too late. The DS woke up at 12, just as I'd gone to sleep, got into bed with me and spent the whole night tossing and turning. Still got the period pains but I'm guessing that's the kind of thing that can go on for days if not weeks, before anything happens. Well, I'm hoping so: we still haven't ordered Baby Father Christmas's present to DS nor have I done my tax return!

LBB have you ever tried Ashton & Parsons teething powders for you lo? They're really fab.

rosieposey · 25/01/2009 09:59

Ohh thanks for the tip Dinky - will send DH out on a mish today - wonder if you can get Spatone or Floradix in Boots as they are likely the only chemist open today? Was going to just chuck a couple of fibogel sachets down each day to try and keep 'loose' as remember from a pregnancy long long ago being constipated with iron tablets but if i can get something that avoids getting all stopped up completely will do that so thanks . Sounds like you have a nice moochy day to yourself today too, Make the most of it! You only have a week to go till maternity leave starts right? Will also have a go at doing a bit of baby washing as have some sheets and stuff to wash, then back to bed for the ubiquitus 4 or so hours its a good job i havent got a toddler to take care of.

HOM will ask the consultant who put me on them on Weds when i can come off them, I think she said i have to come off them slowly or something like that but im hoping its soon after the birth, i guess it depends how my bp behaves after the birth but am also hoping she will switch me to something else if need be as i am pretty sure that its not my body needing this much sleep its the tablets making me all rubbishy and tired, its only a small complaint and my bp is excellent just have never ever slept so much in my life and when you wake up you still feel tired - really really dont want to feel like that when my little man is born - ill speak to her on Weds and see what she says anyway.

MrsY · 25/01/2009 10:14

rosie - which tablets are you taking? I've just been put on labetalol, as I was told they have less side effects than methyldopa, and tend to work quicker, so are better at the beginning when establishing the dose. I was told I'd probably have to stay on them for a while after birth, as preeclampsia can develop post-natally.

KT1983 · 25/01/2009 10:30

Morning

Lardy Hope you & your DD are doing better today xx

Pempe Good Luck with the CS - Cant wait to see some pics & hear about the new arrival ( very of you xx

Hope everyone else is ok today? Ive not had a proper catch up since yesterday morning.

Me & DP decided to give sex a try this morning, not the most comfortable, but hoping it might do something to get this little girl out...

Im not sure wether to be worried or not & sorry if TMI, but I have had some pink blood since then
Now I have terrible lower back ache?
I can still feel bubs moving around enough though, so I guess sex at 38 weeks is not the way to go in my case?

Or perhaps its doing its job & baby is getting rady for the off?

rosieposey · 25/01/2009 10:31

Yeah methyldopa MrsY - MS and i think Mentalpup take them ok though so it must just be me - i will ask about labetalol on Weds as tbh feel utterly miserable at having no energy and im sure i shouldnt be driving as feel so groggy ect. Consultant did warn me about side effects sleepness ect but i expected to feel tired anyway not knocked out completely for most of the day AND the night My poor girls and DH hardly see me and when they do i am uber grumpy as just feel whacked

rosieposey · 25/01/2009 10:35

Ohhh KT thats probably your cervix either having a show or just swollen blood vessels - give the hospital a call if your worried though fingers crossed it might be the start of things for you

dinkystinky · 25/01/2009 11:12

Its probably the anaemia making you feel more sleepy too Rosie - I hope you start feeling better soon.

KT - sounds like a show like Rosie said. Take it easy and conserve your energy - could be start of things or not (I had plenty of shows but still didnt go into labour for ages). Also sex can make you bleed a little bit at this stage (everything v swollen down below and additional blood flow going on). Having sex at this stage can set off cramping too (rather the same as having a sweep), so try not to worry too much about things.

laidbackinengland · 25/01/2009 11:22

Rosie, sorry to hear you are feeling so groggy. I second the Spatone. I took it for a couple of months and it really helped with energy levels - good to get some orange juice to drink it with too as it helps absorption.

KT, sounds like you may of got things going there ? A little bit of blood stained mucus can indicate things are ripening up for action.

I had a dream last night that my baby was going to be born on Monday - Chinese New Year. All our babies born on Monday or after will be Earth Oxen !!

Earth Oxen

Tinasan · 25/01/2009 11:23

Hello everybody. I joined this thread at the very beginning and then never managed to find time to post, although I have been lurking from time to time! Congrats to those who have already had their babies, I have a feeling there are going to suddenly be a lot more in the next week or so.

Rosieposey - I am on methyldopa as well and it is terrible. I am finding it so hard to cope as I have a toddler to look after and no family nearby to help out, that the consultant has decided to induce me on Weds (I'll be 38+2). Am a bit nervous but keen at the same time to see my baby boy! Re labetalol - it's a betablocker so they won't prescribe it if you are asthmatic. I am so that's why I got landed with the methyldopa.

Good luck everybody - I look forward to reading about all the new arrivals!

dinkystinky · 25/01/2009 11:32

Hello and welcome back Tinasan. Sorry to hear you're suffering too like Rosie - sounds really horrible. I hope the induction goes well next Wednesday for you - so exciting that you know you'll be seeing your baby next week though.

swampster · 25/01/2009 11:45

Sfunny, laidback, I was looking at the Chinese zodiac yesterday with my brother - his wife is Chinese and they are expecting their first baby in a few weeks!

So you guys who have already had your babies have little Earth Rats!

Tinasan · 25/01/2009 11:46

thanks dinkystinky. I'm really nervous about it actually - I went into labour on my own with my DD (at 39 weeks) and I am concerned that 38 might be a bit early to 'get me going'. I'm going out for a few long walks before Weds to try and get gravity to help . Does anyone have any experience of being induced at 38 weeks?

rosieposey · 25/01/2009 13:14

Hi Tinasan - just woke up as promptly fell asleep after last post (see what i mean?) Hmm thats why she didnt give me the other stuff then as i too am asthmatic but i feel a bit of fraud for complaining as i dont have anyone to look after really - more like my teenagers and DH are looking after me its like i said to Dinky though im just not used to sleeping like this, and feel completely incapaciated as even going over the road to buy sodding bread knocks me out.

Tinasan good luck for Wednesday, hope you get taken off the Methyldopa too Am glad its not just me finding it so tough though. I was induced at 37 weeks with each of my babies because of the GD and the first two went swimmingly. Fingers crossed your cervix will be favourable and thin, if not maybe they will put you on syntocinin to speed things up after a pessary - not sure what the procedure is now as this was 11 years plus ago. Can only add that this drip can make things a bit painful ( ok alot in my experience ) so not sure how you feel about epidurals? Dont worry this isnt a given and hopefully all you'll need is one pessary and your waters broken, please let us know how you get on. My third was only a disaster because of the hospital that she was born at and it was their fault entirely that it didnt go so well hence my having a c section this time. My first two inductions were beautiful experiences with no need for instuments or anything AND they were big babies.

Laidback have asked DH to go to Boots and look for Spatone or Floradix - cant take it with orange juice though cause of rubbishy diabetes but hope that the influx of iron wake me up a bit.

MarkStretch · 25/01/2009 13:18

Hello

Rosie- sorry you're finding the methyldopa hard work, I am tired all the time too but can never work out if it is the medication or just being fat and pregnant!

I have taken Spatone before, when you're pregnant it's best to take 2 sachets a day and avoid tea and coffee for half an hour either side of taking it as that affects absorption. I used to take it in just water, just hold your nose!

TMI ALERT

I had a lump of jelly come out this morning, two in fact on wiping. Completely clear, no blood or anything. A show maybe?

lardybump · 25/01/2009 14:06

Wow we could have 3 babies arriving soon. MS, Pempe and spotty... hope you are all ok.....

I had contractions last night but stopped at about 11 and had no more. I think it was the shock rather than anything else. Have been having non painfull BH today so dont think there is any need for concern....

MrsY · 25/01/2009 14:23

laidback - Don't like the fact that earth ox's ruling hours are 1-3 am!

It's my grans 91st birthday party today, so I will have a lovely time with my arse of a father, and my brother and his family (not sure I've forgiven them for their comments at Christmas)...

MS How was DD's day yesterday?

lardy Hope the three of you are okay - let me know if there's anything I can do...

lardybump · 25/01/2009 15:02

Thanks MrsY hope your day is not going to be as bad as you think...

KT1983 · 25/01/2009 15:13

back again....nothing happening on the baby front, having a bit of tightening going on, but think must just be BH as they dont hurt or seem regular at all.

oh well, wisful thinking

Hope u are all having a nice chilled out Sunday x
