Hi all

Sitting suffering at work (again), but working full-time, not much choice! I am planning on spreading this cold far and wide via the medium of Air Conditioning, so that every bugger else can suffer . I can't wait for Mat leave to start, then I can have some time with my babies before the baby arrives. Of course, I know full well that as I am starting Mat Leave during the Easter Holidays, I will be willing them back to school within hours, bless them and their boundless energy/teenagerish stroppiness.

I am leaving at 34/35 weeks, as I know that the SPD will get more debilitating as I expand and balloon, so 'rest' is required.

Divedaisy - I think you mentioned the grunting? Oh, yes, just like a 'lickle old lady' as DD2 tells me. Also, she patted my bum this morning and said 'ooh, big fat mummy and her big fat bum'. Thanks!

Not much sleep last night, combination of being SnotGoblin and LO showing off gymnastic prowess and somersaulting.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/01/2009 12:52

and welcome Leakyr

alapala · 28/01/2009 13:06

Ive lost the plot. my day off with DS (nearly 2) going from bad to worse. he keeps trying to whack me and claw at my face. so far have screamed at him, left him in cot, until he managed to make himself sick everywhere, and now I have just left him upstairs to scream at the stairgates. How the f* am I going to manage with 2?? and he is normally such a sweet little boy.

Momino · 28/01/2009 13:17

nauseous, I'm due 1/5 and planning to take leave from 30/3. HOwever, I'm waiting to find out my maternity pay - my salary is fluctuates and has gone down in the past few months so if Mat Pay is more than my current salary (!) I'm going to take it earlier.

MsG · 28/01/2009 13:19

Welcome Leakyr.

Alapala, hope your DS settles down a bit soon!

I think I'm going to take 2 weeks holiday and then start my maternity leave, so I leave work 4 weeks before my due date. I work from home so could leave it later but I'm sure I'm going to be exhausted and absolutely massive by then, and my job can be quite stressful (as they all are, I know!) so I think I'll be glad to leave early.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/01/2009 13:31

alapala

Poor you, you have my sympathy.

DD2 is known as 'the evil one' or 'evil bear' amongst others (her name is Eve), she has taken to pretending to nut my stomach or punch me when she's cross at the moment, (apparently her friend Tom has been teaching her and he's a little shitebag. at saying such a thing about a 4 year old). However, she is a supremely sweet and wonderful child 95% of the time.

She's older that your DS, but she was a tantrummer extraordinaire when she was about 2. I console myself with the fact that the bad behaviour is part and parcel of her being a massively confident and outgoing little madam.

Also, (whispers) they do grow out of it - DD1 did by the age of about 3!!! Just waiting for DD2 to.......

llareggub · 28/01/2009 13:32

alapala you are having much the same day as I am. My little darling woke up at 2am and at 4.30 I gave up and brought him downstairs. I posted earlier about the wisdom of adding a newborn into the mix!

Thankfully he is with my inlaws today so I've had a sleep. I've now got a mountain of housework to do, such is life!

Jael · 28/01/2009 14:15

I know I've only been back on MN for a day, but I need a moan. I tried to talk to DP about it last night, but ended up getting myself more stressed. I'm so fed up of my weight. In my green notes when they first weighed me I was 73kg, which is overweight for my 5'3 frame, I'm now 80kg. And I'm so frightened and stresed, I don't want to put on anymore weight because I know I won't be able to lose it afterwards. Before I had DD who's three, I was 9 st, I put on tons of weight with her, and even after dieting and dieting afterwards, I never went below 10 1/2 stone. I'm puting on all this weight again this time, and I'm not going to be able to lose it again, I'm so so stressed. I tried and tried last time and couldn't shift it, and I'm even heavier to begin with this time.

Momino · 28/01/2009 14:38

alapala, so sorry, I know how it feels! don't worry, you'll manage with two, you won't know how you do it, but you will . Hope it calms down so you can relax.

Jael, a big hug to you. I've unfortunately nothing to say to help (hangs head in shame), but do know that pregnancy does so much to your body and weight is so hard to shift. Does your MW or GP offer any advice? anyway, try not to be frightened and to concentrate on relaxing... pregnancy is not easy, is it? xx

Moonlit · 28/01/2009 15:04

Jael - Don't stress yourself out my love, it's not worth it!!!

I was 9.5 stone when I got pregnant with my DD, my weight shot up to 11.5 stone, then when I stopped BF I gained another 1.5 stone. So that's 13 stone on a 5ft 3 frame!!!!

I couldn't get pregnant, because my weight had made my PCOS symptoms worse!. So in June 2007, I cut out the carbs and exercised like crazy!!! The weight shifted down to 11 stone! Which meant I got pregnant with this little princess. So I will be on a diet again after DD2 is born , but with the help of a personal trainer this time!!! Because my hubby wants DC number 3 ASAP LOL

Gaining weight during child bearing years, is normal. Some people look fab even after birth, I think Momino is one of those people from her profile photos and some of us have to work a little harder.

What's weight gain during pregnancy!!!!! When the end result is a gorgeous baby. They are so worth it.

Now relax ok!

Momino · 28/01/2009 15:32

Wow, Moonlit, that's so nice of you to say! though I've got to post a more recent photo of me with my huge bump.

we all have diff probs, don't we - I've got terrible vericose veins, skin problems which give me low self esteem, not helpful in PND. my point is, if it's not one thing it's another.

hang in there, everyone, with the pregnancy problems -keep looking at our list with the plus things .

Off to GP now to confirm if DD2 has this foot/hand/mouth thing and check it won't be too worrisome for pregnancy.

LoobyLou36 · 28/01/2009 18:24

well all went well at MW. BP fine no more glucose/protein in urine and I'm measuring 27wks. They were slightly concerned about tenderness in my abdomen but think that I have just been overdoing it a bit - told me to take it easy but to contact the hospital if any stronger pain or spotting .I do feel fine tho - just hope its all gonna be okay.

On the plus side I've got my form to fill in for the Health in Pregnancy Grant.

pulapula · 28/01/2009 19:58

Nauseous,

You may find you just get too tired to work towards the end- I know I did. With my first pg I finished at 36 weeks, but I did get a bit bored at the end, as first babies are notoriously late (DD was a week late).

With my second, I planned to work to 37.5 weeks, and I knew I had a csection booked for 39 weeks but in the end I was too tired so took some annual leave and finished at 36 weeks.

So therefore I plan to finish at 36 weeks again! Luckily DD and DS go to nursery 2 days a week so i will be resting and having some "me" time on those days.

Jael- don't worry now about weight gain. Wait until 6 months- 1 year after the birth, and review your diet, fitness, weight then and decide on the best approach to tackling it if you need to. That's what i've done before, and just by cutting out all biscuits, cakes, crisps for a couple of months I managed to loose half a stone, and could have done much more if I'd exercised too. I get when I look in the mirror at my figure (dimply skin in lots of places, saggy boobs, thunder thighs etc) but I've decided not to stress about it now, and eat when i'm hungry (ie most of the day ).

rek21 · 28/01/2009 20:01

Hi everyone,

Grumpy My DD and your DD2 have the same name! May I ask what your DD1's name is as we are utterly clueless about what to call the DD on the way? I think children's nicknames can be very revealing - DD is currently Tiny McWhiney.

I am leaving work on the 6th April, even though I am only due on the 31st May, but as it seems likely she will arrive early I want to have a bit of a break. I have to work until the 6th though otherwise I won't get any maternity allowance.

Jael I'm only 5' 6'' and I was 90kg before getting pg this time, 75kg before DD! Weirdly I am still 90kg, I suspect it is because I started work at the same time as getting pg which made my lifestyle a lot more active than it had been before. I have to confess that I barely look in the mirror these days, I am hoping that it is just one of those phases of life and one day (when DD's are 5? 10? 15?) I will be able to take a bit more care again.

I do plan to work up to two weeks before I'm due too naseous. Def wouldn't work that close to my due date if this wasn't my first. Having LO/'s as well as well as being PG must make it SO much more tiring.

I really want to have more time on the other side as I'll probably only be able to take 9 months off.

Am a bit worried about getting trains and tubes at that stage but SURELY by then people will get up for me (they're certainly not at the moment, but I'll be a LOT bigger then)! I get shoved around quite a bit when I get off at Paddington which really isn't pleasant!

pulapula · 28/01/2009 20:37

Dandylioness,

Congrats on having a boy. I thought i wanted 2 DDs but was really excited when I found out it was a DS and am getting excited at the thought of another DS now!

I am sure you won't be anything like your mother- I know I try not to be in the way I bring up my children, although i do cringe when i hear myself saying things she used to say to me .

Momino · 28/01/2009 20:43

oh, I only wish I were like my mother... she seems to have had more patience than I do. Only I'm like my father and very grumpy, impatient and raise my voice. But, I'm really trying to turn this around so I don't rub off on DDs.

cece · 28/01/2009 20:46

I am going to finish work at the end of April, at 37 and half weeks. Not due to the middle of May so hoping that will be enough! I worked to 37 weeks with DS and I was full time then... I currently only work 2 mornings per week so I should be able to manage it!

DD was 2 weeks late (my first) and I had left work at 35 weeks, so I was home for 7 weeks before she made an appearance. I am assuming as the other two were late then this one will be too!

Those of you commuting - I can't believe no one is offering you a seat

Tummum · 28/01/2009 21:29

Jael I also had nightmare SPD pains which seemed to have really really eased off over the last 2 weeks

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 28/01/2009 21:37

Rek
.
DD1 is Maia (pronounced Myer - she gets this spelling a lot in cards, along with Mia, Miai, Maya and I seem to remember a Miher once)- convinced all the way through the pregnancy she would be a boy so didn't think of girl's names - when she popped out, I took one look and that was the name that fitted, I just liked the name and now love the fact that there aren't many of her around (although I think thingy who played Cindy in Eastenders has one too).

Really struggling now with boy or girl name for LO, as we haven't followed a pattern with names, again, Eve just looked like an Eve (never a name we'd had on a list!!!!)

Oh, and Maia is 'Maia Mookins' on my phone, poor lamb!! We go in for stupid nicknames - my dad and his family call me Idbol and my mum calls me Wizard
