Thought I'd better start this soon.

But then I suppose it's balanced by No Wine on the negative thread...

I love all the pros and cons! So far I seem to be ok health wise. Not as sore with SPD as I was last time, but MW confirmed for me yesterday that Baby Bump is lying transverse (IE side ways) which explains the low kicks/thumps and the ache under my ribs. It is uncomfortable mostly. But getting up and down, especially off the sofa or other soft seat, gets too much after a few goes! ANd I do get tired and ready for bed around 8pm!!! But the evenings DH is working late I feel obliged to stay up to see him even for a few mins!

Oh I can think of one perk that applies to me!!
17) DH calling me 'Slim'!!!!!

Is anyone else making grunting nosies when you go to bend over and pick something up!!!? And says a lot of 'Oh Dear'!!

I went to M&P shop yesterday and have put deposit on the Skate. There is an offer coming in March for the Skate system with car seat and stand, and I was able to avail of it because I won't be picking it up until April - so if anyone else is thinking of this pram system, ask about the MArch offer! I had a look and demo of the Ziko Herbie - very nice compact pram. But the only thing I didn't like about it was I was told that every time you fold the chassis down you need to take off the seat!

Momino - re your hip-ache. It does sound like your ligaments are stretching, and the giving way is probably not helped by your baby getting bigger. Sciatica is inflammation of the sciatic nerve that runs from your back, through your buttocks and down the legs, and in sever cases the pain terminates in the feet. It is like having toothache - it is hot and extrememly painful. Sometimes relief is not easily found as lying, sitting, standing all cause variations of the pain. You would be best to limit lifting if at all possible, and investing in a support belt for SPD may help by lifting the weight of the baby off your pelvis, and thus off the nerves. If the pain persists speak to your GP or MW. Paracetamol may not be enough to help with the pain, and I have been told by my GP that Co-Codamol (codeine & Paracteamol) can be taken in pregnancy - however you may want to seek your own advice about this and get it on prescription. Finally - plenty of rest!

divedaisy · 27/01/2009 16:25

Does anyone know if the Matetnity form you are meant to give to your employer is sent in to Incapacity Benefits Branch if you are in receipt of it?
Also got the form for the £190 - somehow DH found out about this payment!! I think some of it will go towards a trendy change bag. Has anyone seen one in lime green??

runningmonkey · 27/01/2009 18:02

The pros and cons list has really cheered me up THANK YOU!

Just logged on after a poo day which culminated in me bursting into tears in tescos because I couldn't remember what I needed to buy.

So my timely addition is

Cons
Hormonal mood swings

DH just said that he hopes 'we're all having babies' is top of the pros list tho!

Jennster · 27/01/2009 21:23

Halfmumhalfbiscuit are you still about? Thought you might like to know, dd who was 3 last week, sings Half Man Half Biscuit songs. That and Subterranean Homesick Blues by Bob Dylan.

Divedaisy OIOI used to do a hobo change bag in grey and lime green which we got - but not usure if it is still part of the current range?

Love the pros and cons list - runningmonkey's DH is quite right about the first pro - we are all so very lucky despite our whinging!! I'm chilling out with Jennster this week as MW said today that I had to rest (fine by me - had a 2 hour snooze this afternoon!) My baby also transverse and it is a head that is stuck under my left ribs most of the time - but he/she seems to like being there for now!

detsy · 27/01/2009 22:32

divedaisy here you go even better - its just lime green now....

rek21 · 27/01/2009 22:34

Hi everyone,

Loving the list - at least none of us (I hope!) are having eight! I have to say thet my jaw dropped when they 'announced' that she would be breast feeding them all! I have one very brave and persistent friend who breast fed twins successfully but surely feeding 8 is cloud cuckoo land? Mind you, I didn't even manage one so perhaps I'm not the best judge.

Momino I have exactly the same thing with my hip when I pick up DD - stairs are particularly difficult. I was putting it down to sleeping awkwardly but I was thinking about seeing the GP if it gets any worse.

runningmonkey last pregnancy I burst into tears in Kiddicare because there was too much choice! Then I discovered I'd left my car keys in the ignition of my unlocked car in the car park...

Had consultant's appointment today to discuss placenta previa (low placenta). Good news is, she gives us a 50/50 chance of the placenta moving enough to allow a normal delivery. Not so good news is that if it doesn't move there is another 50/50 chance of complications like bleeding and having to be taken in to hospital. Worse case scenario is that the placenta has actually grown into the scar site from my c-section, in which case they might take me in at 32 weeks . However the chance of this is very low. I have a scan in 2 weeks to see if they can diagnose this, but will probably need quite regular scans. However, there don't seem to be any risks to the baby (as long as she doesn't have to be delivered too early) which is a BIG consolation.

I don't feel at the moment like there is much chance of me mooing or choo-chooing so, I'll have to get stuck into the creme eggs to qualify for this thread!

Hope everyone is as well as the various pregnancy symptoms allow

SpangleMaker · 27/01/2009 23:00

Loving the list! Did I read right, has no-one put constipation on the 'cons' list? Had it in 1st trimester, went away but now seems to be coming back... better get on the prune juice Not sure about the 'glow' myself but a number of people have told me I look well (maybe I just looked ill before??)

Sorry to those who've been feeling poorly/knackered/generally crap. Hope you manage to get some R&R.

Exciting day today - purchased the first things for the baby Not much - just a few sleepsuits & a sleeping bag that were in the sale, and a crocheted toy dog - but still feels exciting. I keep marvelling at how diddy & cute the little sleepsuits are... but then put them against my bump and they seem rather large!

We looked at some pushchairs in John Lewis. I'm still liking the Bugaboo Bee. The Bugaboos are so easy to push and the Bee seems to be one of the few prams that will go in my boot without an almighty faff. The seat did look a bit low compared to some others (not sure if it's adjustable?), but then I'm small so I don't think it will matter. Hmmm.. decisions, decisions

pulapula · 27/01/2009 23:11

rek- i also laughed when i read that she plans to breastfeed all 8 - does she not realise how much time it takes to feed a baby - she would be continually tandem feeding and need to consume about 10000 calories a day if not more. Not sure if the body could just keep producing milk - it takes a while to fully fill a boob after a feed so the little ones wouldn't be getting much for all their efforts. I am pro-BF and i know there are people on the BF threads who are "experts" and will say the body adjusts to demand but surely there are limits?!

I forgot about constipation on the list- a real problem at the moment (AGAIN).

I almost bought my first creme egg today but resisted!

pulapula · 27/01/2009 23:12

Better get to bed- am on an early train to London tomorrow and DH has gone to bed already and is probably cursing me for messing around on my laptop...

llareggub · 28/01/2009 04:42

Oh, what fresh hell is this....DS fell asleep at 5pm and woke up at 2am....and we are still awake. Why oh why am I introducing a newborn into the mix?! He is literally bouncing off the walls, he has so much energy.

yawningmonster · 28/01/2009 04:51

hi all, sorry not read everything so I hope everyone is ok. anyone else been getting braxton hicks yet? Much earlier than when i had them with ds. Pulapula I thought I was seeing things when there were Hot cross buns in the super already! Just got a dx for Aspergers for ds so that has been a big focus for us lately and we are not even close to being ready for this baby to arrive.

llareggub · 28/01/2009 05:00

I mentioned that to my midwife recently, as I didn't get braxton hicks wit DS. She told me that I did, but some people don't feel them.

How is life in NZ? A friend of mine has just emigrated, we are all very envious!

yawningmonster · 28/01/2009 05:42

NZ is sublime, the weather has been fantastic and we have been full on camping, tramping, going to rivers etc absolutely lovely.

LoobyLou36 · 28/01/2009 07:30

Hope everyone is feeling well.

yawningmonster v.envious of the lovely weather you are having

I am absolutely shattered, baby was doing gymnastics it seemed like for most of the night so didn't get much sleep.
It is nice to feel it kicking and shuffling about but I could sleep all day..

Got a MW appointment this afternoon to keep a check on my wee (lovely) I've had protein and glucose in it a couple of times so they're keeping an eye on me

Hopefully my BP will be behaving altho I am so stressed about not getting paid (i'll me owed 8 weeks wages on friday)

Momino · 28/01/2009 10:15

morning all, hope everyone is well.

divedaisy, thanks for the info, I don't think it's sciatica but Rek sounds like we have the same problem. I'll mention to my MW next visit (2 weeks).

DD2 home from nursery today with suspected Hand/Foot/Mouth (sounds like the cattle disease!). they called me as soon as I walked through the door after dropping both off and getting ready to work. dd2 is absolutely fine, just spotty around mouth, hands/arms and feet. i feel so stupid I didn't notice it but just saw spots round outside her mouth and thought it was teething. just concerned effects on pregnancy but looked on NHS site and say risks are low. Will ask GP today when I take dd2 to confirm she has it.

guess I won't get much work done today and will therefore be up all night catching up. sigh.

divedaisy · 28/01/2009 10:39

Detsy - thanks for the link to the lime green bag!!! I like it a lot!

rek21 - that sound quite worrying. It's good that they are keeping a close eye on you. Anyway enjoy the cream eggs - you can cluck instead!!!

Spangle - the clothes do look big dont they...bit scarey to think we've to puch that out! But the clothes are so cute and tiny-wee!!

That poor 8-baby mum! She certainly will need to Moo Moo! BF 8 babies - surely she'd need to grow a few more nipples! How on earth would you organise to go anywhere?? You'd need 2x double decker tandems, a mini bus and extra hands! Can yo imagine the size her baby change bag would need to be? I feel for her. I know her babies are tiny, so hope it's a good outcome for them all. And like the rest of us she will find a way.

Yawning - hope the diagnosis now helps your son. A friend of mine has a nephew (age about 10) who was diagnosed with it a few years ago, and the treatment/routine/teaching etc he ahs received has really helped him come out of his shell. He's a real wee actor/singer now with bags of confidence. Don't think I'm getting Braxton Hicks yet - dont recall having them last time either. If I'm vacuuming sometimes my tummy tightens - would that be it??

And whoever mentioned Hot Cross Buns !!! I cannot find them anywhere! And I want one (or 2, 3, 4...)

I'm not at work todya - 'day off' not really cos I am meant to be tidying the study in prearation to moving the office back home in the next few weeks - so I'd best get on with it!! See you all later!

leakyR · 28/01/2009 10:57

Hello ladies

Can I join your thread?

I am due May 7th. this will be my 2nd dc, have ds who is 21months at the moment.

Pregnancy so far has been mixed. 20 weeks of morning sickness and fainting initially but that settled down just before Christmas. Shocking heartburn, but everything else is fine.

I work 3 days a week and I will start Mat Leave near the end of March.

nauseous · 28/01/2009 11:05

Welcome "LeakyR"! That's a long time to have MS! Fainting sounds tough. Hope you're feeling a bit better now. I hope you like creme eggs. This site has got me addicted!!

Interesting you're stopping work end March, due beg May, I have gone for end of April, am due mid-May (but then I have no existing kids already to look after...)

When is everyone else leaving work? - Or have I missed this conversation already?? Find it hard to keep up! - Its difficult to know how you're going to feel in a few months doing something you've never done before - you could suddenly get horrendously tired or feel absolutely fine. I was thinking that 2 weeks off would give me plenty of last minute shopping and cooking freezer food opportuinities...

LoobyLou36 · 28/01/2009 11:21

nauseous I'm due 3rd May and am starting met leave on 9th April (my annual leave goes from April to March so am taking 2 weeks holiday at the start)

I figure this will give me lots of time to organise/bulk cook meals etc.

leakyR · 28/01/2009 11:23

I plan to go six weeks before due date. Left it until 4 weeks before with ds and was exhausted. Had backache in last trimester and it's starting to niggle now. And yes, having a toddler to contend with does change things.

llareggub · 28/01/2009 12:07

divedaisy in case you were thinking of ordering the bag from the link, please search mumsnet for posts on that company. You may want to consider other outlets...

EmmalinaC · 28/01/2009 12:43

Hello all and welcome leakyR

Love the OiOi changing bag - I bought one before DD was born and I loved using it. Not sure I can really justify buying another one.

Hope everyone is ok? I went to yoga again last night so am feeling slightly more relaxed and well-rested than usual. And I'm not as stiff as usual so I think it's helping.

I am also feeling rather chuffed to be told by DD that I am 'a bit like Mummy Incredible'. Yes, that's just how I feel!

Nauseous I'm stopping work at about 34 weeks I think, mainly because I have a very long commute. I worked until 36 weeks first time and it was too much.

Off for a nap now! See you all later x
