nappyaddict · 25/01/2009 13:52

All you overdue ladies I've just posted some tips to get labour going on another thread and thought i'd put them on here too if anyone fancies getting a bit creative

masturbation
korean food (particularly kimchi)
suck your thumb
take a hot shower
eat papaya
sweeping
mopping
weeding the garden
cleaning the dishwasher out
laying a patio
laying wooden flooring
wiping all the lampshades
sex 3 times in close succession. elevate hips after sex to coat cervix in semen.
swinging on a swing
blowing up balloons
listening to very loud music
star jumps
bouncing on a trampoline
wiping the walls
orange juice
rhubarb
doing handstands in a swimming pool
raspberry and cranberry juice
rotating their hips on a birthing ball
washing the car
meal of lobster and champage
fish and chips
swimming breaststroke
figs
mini golf
bowling
pilates
chamomile tea
tamarind tea
cinnamon tea - put cinnamon sticks and boil them into a tea
ginger
spunk mixed with yogurt
massaging the roof of the mouth??
mix ketchup, soda and bbq sauce and pour over chicken wings??

yes i know some are a tad bizarre!!

LenniEd · 25/01/2009 14:17

Congratulations to MissHairspray (sorry was reading thread backwards before, must stop doing that) Also am very impressed about you calmly delivering a 9lbs 12oz baby boy! Well done you!

nappyaddict · 25/01/2009 14:24

oh and flying a kite after eating a curry.

LenniEd · 25/01/2009 14:24

Those of you still waiting... why don't you come and join us on post-natal now that there are only a few of you? That's if you can stand the sore nipple and sleepless nights talk? It would be nice to have you. Although understand if you want to stay put and I wouldn't want us to waste half of the wonderfully named thread

Spink · 25/01/2009 14:52

elkiedee did those cold shivers build up into anything? How are you doing?

fourlittlefeet · 25/01/2009 15:49

oooh - go elkie!

missjackson · 25/01/2009 16:47

THanks fym and LenniEd for updated lists; I was beginning to lose track!

Elkiedee hope your 'shivers' are turning into some action.

Rray welcome home to you and Esme; hope you are having a lovely time settling in with her.

I think I will migrate to the PN thread actually - I am feeling out of the loop! But I'll check back in here too...

So had my sweep this morning - MW said I am 2cm dilated and 3/5ths engaged, but that cervix is still 'thick' rather than thinning out - lots of backache and periody cramps since the sweep, so I am feeling positive. A week overdue today!

OH took me for another quad bike ride around the farm, and then had some fun in the bedroom so hopefully that's all helping too!

Congratulations MissHairspray! Lovely name too.

treedelivery · 25/01/2009 19:46

Hello all! DD2 is 3.5 days old and has fed hourly since delivery, except for 3 3 hour stretches of sleep. She will also not be put down under any circumstances. milk hopefully arriving this eve as all pain and pelvic discomfort is a bit worse and feeling quite drunk when feeding withb the hormone let down thing so hopefully will turn the corner and I can get on line and have a good chin wag.

Nipples in flames!!!!

oooggs · 25/01/2009 19:47

congrats to hkz, RRay, Tree & miss hairspray hope you are all ok

LooseyC · 25/01/2009 20:45

Thanks for adding me onto the new list LenniEd - can't believe how many of these supposedly Jan babies were born in December. Mine will prob arrive in Feb - don't they know when they are meant to come out?!

Rray and MissHairspray - glad you got to delivery in your MLUs, sounds like you got pretty much what you were hoping for.

Nappyaddict - I've done some of these things to bring on labour, but I'm not telling which! Obviously they haven't worked though...

fymandwhenisthisbabycoming · 26/01/2009 07:16

Morning all - DS was up at 5:15 so a bit knackered - just hope he doesn't do it too often when the baby arrives....

OP posts:
fourlittlefeet · 26/01/2009 08:36

morning! Fym - my DD was up at 5.15 too - its been 5 all week now. They have their own special clock don't they? Agghh. DP is being really shitty as he's had to get up and play with her 8 mornings in a row at 5 o'clock. Don't really see how I can help him though, given that I'm only getting aroun 4 hours sleep myself (and I'm ALLLOWED to be shitty, having a painful undercarriage, hormones AND no sleep). Don't know what his problem is

afternoon

mine was up early 2

elkiedee · 26/01/2009 13:43

Afternoon all, still no news here. Saw my lovely GP this morning, who said she thought baby might have moved down a bit, but didn't confirm whether the head was engaged (which I'm sure it had at this stage last time even though I still ended up with induction). About to venture out now to an NCT reunion.

Hello!! I really miss here!!

I'll be out of the bleeding nipple constant feeding world soon, and if my child ever allows me to put her down I'll be round for a chin wag and muffins.

xxx to you all!! I rather wish I could do it again. Clearly bonkers!!

moosemama · 26/01/2009 17:14

Elkie, Elizabeth engaged 2/5 then was completely disengaged (breech in fact!) 24 hrs before my induction. She was cephalic when induced but not engaged. It wasn't a problem as in the end she shot out with the aminiotic sac intact! (She had a lovely shaped head right away by the way as she wasn't squashed on the way out iykwim!)

DS2 didn't engage until near the end of labour and he was the easiest birth ever.

missjackson · 26/01/2009 18:35

dog glad your pool has arrived - now you are all ready to go.. brilliant way to do it; we would have done the same if our hot water situation wasn't so crap! We only get a bath's worth out of the boiler and hardly any water pressure since it comes from a spring!

Have had big mucus plug loss this evening so very hopeful things will be happening soon...
