LenniEd · 22/01/2009 14:26

Ooh, yes ... profile back on please Tink

Hope you've got babe in arms now Tree

Rrrayray that's tough this w/e with OH. Glad you've got someone on standby though and hopefully even if the worst did happen and you went into labour while he was gone the odds of it happening during the actual match have to be fairly low you'd think?? Know how you feel though, I was really stressed over new year when we had no one to look after DD. Hopefully you'll get plenty of notice too.

rrrayray · 22/01/2009 15:02

I think i'm just being silly about it, like LenniEd says, the chances of happening mid-match are slim. so i'm hoping to go into labour, like, NOW... or not until late saturday night. thing is, deep down, i reckon i'll still be pregnant at the end of NEXT week.Problem with that is, next weekend they are playing even FURTHER away (5-6 hours!!!) OH goodness baby, Come on a weekday!!

Tree Hoping you have your wonderful bundle of joy now!

Tmi..again- As well as having continious shows, now got Stupuidly heavy discharge. Ewwwwe!

Spink · 22/01/2009 15:04

thanks for lovely stuff you've said about dd's birth! i take no credit - felt like it kinda happened without me doing much!! in a good way
just posted some phots of the girl on my profile..

rrrayray · 22/01/2009 15:21

Awwwwww... so cute Spink!

...Can i have mine now please Mr Stork?!

missjackson · 22/01/2009 15:46

Spink such a cutie baby you have there!!

Just got back from my acupuncture session; hurt like hell when he twiddled the needles but he did say this treatment needed to be 'strong'!

Contrary to all other opinions, he thinks I am having a girl... we'll wait and see.

Afterwards felt really spacey so had to stop for a hot chocolate with marshmallows AND a flapjack! So if the acupuncture doesn't get the baby moving, the sugar rush should!

Can't wait for news from Tree!

rrrayray · 22/01/2009 15:53

missJ my acupuncture was a bit sore yesterday too. Did he twiddle the needles by hand???? Mine wired them up to an electric current so they could all be twiddled together. Where did your needles go? i had 1 around ankle area, 1 in foot, one in hand between thumb first finger, one in shoulder, and one in forehead. obviously these needles were mirrored on other side of body. i too felt spacey after the appointment, and was glad that OH was picking me up! I had a "warm" sensation in my tummy when he was doing it, and when i got home i was absolutely shattered. Lets HOPE it works for us!!!!

I'm excited for tree news too!

Am bored stiff, cleaned house, made soup, baked cookies, nothing that can keep my attention on TV, and done enough web surfing for a day. guess will go and lie down and see if i can take a nap!?

missjackson · 22/01/2009 15:58

rray yes sounds like the same spots for the needles except I also had one in both knees - he twiddled them by hand about six times altogether, leaving periods of 3-4 minutes in between. Such a weird feeling! Electric current sounds a bit scary!

I'm off for a nap too.... soooooooo bored! Come on babies!

rrrayray · 22/01/2009 16:06

i was just wired up to the current for about 30 mins. so was if twiddling each needle for 30 mins. Hasnt had the desired effect just yet, can anyone remmeber how long between acupuncture and labour for Hkz and FLF? mine has been about 24 hours now.

Got Dull tummy ache, but doesnt feel very labour related.

Off for that nap. maybe, just maybe i'll be rudely awoken by contractions

hkz · 22/01/2009 18:24

MissJ- Hope the accupunture works its magic.

Rray- Tell that baby to stay put on saturday until his Daddy gets back. Hopefully the baby will give you plenty of warning it's on its way and not show up unaanounced.

Books- Hope the reflexology was successful

Spink- Great birth story and gorgeous babies...just looked at your profile...awwwww.

Right...I'm feeling better after finally getting a few hours kip..so might attempt bitrth story while its still fresh....

rrrayray · 22/01/2009 18:36

In need of some advice.....

Have been sort of "dribbling" downstairs since lunchtime. Now using a pad, as a panty liner wasn't cutting it. Bit confused, is this my waters?

Mainly clear, still getting the odd pinky mucusy bit mixed in, doesn't smell of anything. Just feeling constantly "damp" down there.

Any ideas? No Contractions or anything.... just dampness.

hkz · 22/01/2009 19:15

Sounds like your waters maybe..I'd ring the midwife and check.

Spink · 22/01/2009 19:26

ray! that does sound like waters.... get yourself checked out lady!! crossing fingers for you!!

hkz · 22/01/2009 19:34

So..here it is?sorry if its a bit of a ramble...I'd get yourself a cup of tea and a biscuit.....

According to his scan DS was due on 14th, but according to my LMP dates he actually arrived on time on 21st? so not sure if he was overdue or not?

So on Tuesday morning I went to see the acupuncturist, who, handily, is also a midwife and she also gave me a sweep and let me know that my cervix was thinned and effaced so I should expect some action soon.

Took DD off swimming and felt periody and crampy all day. By the evening I was getting mild contractions, but wasn?t sure if they were BH or not, had a nice clary sage (will not be missing that smell) bath to keep things going and polished off the last of the raspberry leaf tea (will not miss that either). Got DP to blow up the birth pool anyway and put BIL on standby for babysitting duties should they arise.

Went to bed having mild contractions 6/7 mins apart, by 1a.m. they were 5 mins apart but n ot really painful. Managed to get some sleep, but by 4a.m. could no longer sleep through them.

I rang the delivery suite and the lovely community midwife rang back and said she?d be round soon. Got DP to fil up the birth pool, stuck the tens machine on and BIL turned up and went off to sleep in spare room.

When the midwife turned up she did an internal and couldn?t work out how much I was dialated as I was completely constipated?(TMI), when the second MW arrived shortly afterwards she found I was 4-5cm and did another sweep to keep things going.

So I bounced on my birthing ball, chatted to the MWs and DP and used the tens to full effect. It really took the edge off the contractions and I think I only got up to the top of the first level out of 3. Found kneeling over the back of the sofa with my arse in the air helped too! Had completely forgotton about the gas and air until the midwife mentioned it, hated it last time?.loved it this time.

Got really into focusing on my breathing this time around and mooed my way through the contractions whilst sucking away on g and a!

Things were getting pretty painful by about 8, so I got into the birthing pool, which was amazing, it just took all the weight away. DP went off to give DD breakfast and pack her off to playgroup. I was completely zoned out, and so in my own space, I didn?t really notice he wasn?t there.

The midwives sat in the background, a student mw turned up at some point. They monitored the baby?s heartbeat regularly, but were really non intrusive.

By 9am was finding it hard to cope, DP was holding my hand as I mooed and mooed and tried to keep focused on the task in hand, my waters burst in the pool and I began to feel the urge to push..

The second stage was really intense, but not as painful. I just felt the power of the contractions surging through me as I pushed, the water really took the edge off, and the mw told me to look down, there was my baby boy coming up between my legs! I was aware of the incredible animal noises I was making but it didn?t seem like they were coming from me iyswim.

DS cried straight away and we had a cuddle in the birthpool and I handed him over to DP as I got checked out. Ended up with 2nd degree tear as I pushed him out quite quickly, got stitched up as I fed DS. MWs cleared up and did all the checks. I scuttled off to our bed with DS and a cup of tea, not quite believing what had just happened.

DP went and got DD from playgroup, she popped up, jumped up and down on the bed, said ?Hello baby!? and ran off downstairs like it was an everyday occurrence to have a new baby in the house.

qumps · 22/01/2009 19:45

LenniEd · 22/01/2009 19:49

Good luck rrrayray

Looking forward to some news from MissH and Tree and anyone else who is awol at the moment.

rrrayray · 22/01/2009 19:56

called MW. want to see me. off armed with pad as evidence!

moosemama · 22/01/2009 19:59

Hi all,

We're popping all over the place now I see.

Good luck Tree will make sure your bed is turned down on postnatal for you.

rrrayray good luck - sounds like things are getting going for you.

Haven't been around much as have dreadful anaemia and feel like absolute poo! Its my own fault, they told me on the postnatal ward that I was but I refused the iron pills as didn't want to get constipated what with all my beautiful (if ouchy) embroidery work. Promised to stick religiously with the floradix but kept forgetting - doh! Am now taking it again regularly but think it will be a good few days before I feel anything like approaching normal again.

On the other hand, Elizabeth is definitely worth it.

EachPeachPearMum · 22/01/2009 20:00

rrayray- sounds like your waters to me!

hkz- great birthing story!

Lets hope Tree has her dd2 by now!

LooseyC · 22/01/2009 20:04

Evening - quiet on here compared to usual - hoping it's because you are all off having these babies?

Rrray - something is obviously happening for you, good luck if things happen tonight! And we are surely the only bunch of people who get hopelessly excited by mucus, blood, other gunk and the runs.. I'll stop there I think! And even after this there will be nappies and sick. Certainly has cured me of my former squeamishness!

Well I don't seem to be one of the 5% that has their baby on their due date. Damn. Had 2 flapjacks and 2 hot cross buns this afternoon to get over it...
