Diege · 13/01/2009 09:24

LBOT - Thu 15th @8am Weight 8lbs

LaTour - Sun 18th @ 8pm. Weight 7lbs 6oz
Diege - Monday 19th @10.00am Weight 81bs 1oz

Starshinetiger · 13/01/2009 09:25

Morning all - no sign of Tink yet?! Hmm, me thinks maybe something is happening?
Diege - 17 weeks already, that has gone so quickly! They don't make such a big song and dance about 20 week scan here, but hey, at least you have previous experience to go on. I bet you would regret it if you didn't go for scan as I couldn't believe how much clearer 20 week scan was than 12 week scan (and than last time round - think they've got new equipment here!)

Kayz - sorry to hear your frustrations about bf, but you have done brilliantly. Any bm you manage to give DS2 is fantastic. If you feel strongly, you should complain, as it is about the service your receive as a Mum - as LaTour says, it is so easy to be swayed by the "experts" when you're a sleep-deprived hormonal Mum. But, whatever you do, you have done brilliantly so far. I was ff as a baby and it's done me no harm in my relationship with my Mum or in my health!

Am interested in all your comments on Bee and about to go and check it out (although on weekend had taken the decision we would stick with our M&P Pliko, which was 2nd hand from SIL for last time round. Would love a new pushchair, but as we've just been told it will be £450 to fix our boiler/central heating (or £1500 for a new one), think the money will go on that instead. Oh, and DH has a meeting today where he might find out more about whether he's still going to have a job - all the joys eh?!

Hark at you with your libido, Glask - better not let my DH see this, or he'll get jealous - my libido is well and truly out the window at the mo

LaTour - sorry about your rotten weekend. Must be so hard to see your Nan like that and all that hassle to go through with docs, dog, car, etc. Just think of it as getting everything out of the way in one go and let's face it, January is a miserable month anyway - still plenty of 2009 yet to come and am sure it will be a good one for you.

LB - glad you had a nice meal out with DH. Agree with you that 2nd time round it is tough and DS was a little terror on Sat (mainly because he is approaching that stage of possibly dropping nap, but when he goes without it, he gets beside himself with tiredness - and naughtiness!) On Sun, he said "no sleep", but still managed to nap for 2 hours with my v-shaped pillow in his bed (bribery!). You are not a bad mum (I on the other hand am, as I slept downstairs on Sat night on sofa bed to give DH a good night's sleep), when DS got up I brought him downstairs and we got into bed with the tv on - that was 7.30am and finally at 8.55am I raised my head out of pit, switched tv off and got breakfast!)
If you do feel really bad, you should talk to your mw, it doesn't sound like you are in a bad state, but there is such a thing as antenatal depression as well as PND, it's just not talked about much. But, those next 6 weeks are going to fly by!

Right, should really get some work done, as am at work. Now less than 5 weeks to go til mat leave and I can't wait!

Might look like I'm competing here with LaTour for longest post, but still think you're winning by a country mile LaTour!

tinkhaslessthanaweek · 13/01/2009 09:26

lamp saga

*ordered first light shade from vertbaudet on 5th of dec 2008
*on delay so had to cancel
bought one on ebay they were out of stock so got refund
*bought another one form ebay got in mail yest didnt fit
*bought one in next yest going in my room
*have just ordered final one touch wood.

seem to be jinxed this end

1st one of our warning lights has started coming on in our main car again

then kettle broke

then light blew in study still using a lamp 2 c

then our loundge window was smashed luckily didnt come through to inside

Starshinetiger · 13/01/2009 09:29

Oops, took me so long to write - crossed posts, see you're still here Tink - continue to be amazed at your shopping skills. New lampshade(s) look lovely!
Sorry to hear of all things going wrong - really think January is just a month for it, just after we've all got through Christmas unscathed!
Right - really off MN to do some work now!

Diege · 13/01/2009 09:40

Hi STAR! Good luck for your dh with his work meeting - fingers crossed for good news . Re: scan yes I think I will go, and just be prepared for the same okld 'soft marker' to be seen again. All 3 dds had dilated kidneys on 20 weeks scan, was monitored after birth and had disappeared by 5 months (dd1's a bit more complex). Think it must be hereditary, though consultant says just coincidence Just want to get it over with tbh!
TINKS, my theory is that your body is holding off labour until the lampshade saga ia sorted out . Maybe weekend then!

Cosmogirl · 13/01/2009 09:43

Hi Star! Not long for you now either...

Good news on the pram. DH phoned and it is the black they just packaged it in a linen box, so that is good news.

Cosmogirl · 13/01/2009 09:45

Ps. Kayz - you are a crazy mad woman for wanting sickness - trust me, you are better off without!!

kayzr · 13/01/2009 10:03

I know Cosmo, I would probably hate it if I did have it.

Diege · 13/01/2009 10:07

Phew that's good news COSMO! Bet you can't wiat to see it.
Just had a call from secretary saying that there are 30 students waiting in lecture theatre for me (as I sit there in PJs at home watching Jeremy Kyle)...Their mistake (THANK GOD!!!!)as module starts 23rd march, but OMG for a few seconds I went into serious crisis mode

kayzr · 13/01/2009 10:08

LOL!! They are a bit eager Diege!!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 13/01/2009 10:15

Morning- did come on first thing but had to dash and get DS to nursery before i had time to post.

Star- my libido is sky high- and now DH is 'tired' so i keep trying my best to seduce him!! haha!! pathetic really as i'm as round as a beach ball and can't do anything anyway!! oh dear- what am i gonna do with myself??!!??

Kayz- dont wish for sickness!!! not at all- its pure hell!! In actual fact i was sick again this morning hoping its a bit of DH's tummy bug and not returning MS!!

Diege- 17 weeks have flown by!! I'll be 27wks on friday!!! feels like its dragging day by day, but when i get to a 'week' mark its odd!! MW expects me to deliver any-day after 37wks so in all reality i could be days away from delivering in 10wks!! thats not long at all really!! in actual fact its 93 days till i'm due!!!

tink- go and jump on your DH now- i demand it!! I'm still in the running and i need you to help me!!!

(PS- MR-Tink- if you're reading take the Mrs upstairs and give her a GOF so she can get that little girly out!! )

Starshinetiger · 13/01/2009 10:17

LOL Diege! Had visions of you doing lecture by videoconf and using Jeremy Kyle candidates as examples, whilst in your PJs, for a second... Ha Ha, is very unusual for students to turn up when they don't need to surely!
[am not really here...]

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 13/01/2009 10:19

LOL Diege thats enough to make you panic...

I want to go and watch tv now. Though i've missed all the baby programmes on home and health now....Am trying to be good and sitting upstairs but the sofa is calling... is that what laptops were made for?

Anyone else got fluffy pregnancy brain? I keep doing ridiculous things like putting washing on at wrong temp (hope I've not shrunk my v limited maternity wardrobe!), forgetting what im saying mid sentence, taking 3x as long to do anything around the house.... I'd heard of pregnancy brain but didnt know it was so real! Beginning to wonder if I should keep driving now!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 13/01/2009 10:23

i have major PG brain GYo- started from about 6wks pg!! i'll tell DH the same thing 3x in a few mins!! I have been known to either set the washing machine up and not turn it on, or have washed one load 3x before... I forget what day it is, will look at the time and 2seconds later need to look again because i have forgotten!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 13/01/2009 10:30

Phew glad its not just me....

Its a nightmare at work, I used to enver make lists as I have/ had such a good memory but now if I dont write it down it doesnt happen. Just telling my boss that "I forgot" just doesnt cut it!

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 13/01/2009 10:38

I'd never cope working- i remember when i was pregnant with the other 2 and i worked I'd go into the stock room for something, then i'd stand in there for 5mins looking at everything to try and remind myself of what i needed.... I think i only ever remembered once or twice!! Most of the time someone would come and 'find' me becasue they'd wonder what i was up to!! With DD i ended up sitting on the stock-room floor in tears becasue i was 'too stupid to even remember what i needed'... i'm a hormonal, fuzzy-brained, wreck when PG!!

LaTourEiffel · 13/01/2009 10:43

GYo, get some mumomega tablets, they're brilliant and have an amazing effect on pregnancy brain. The growing baby needs omega oils and the only place its stored in the adult body is in your brain, so it takes it from there - leaving you short and, well, forgetful! Top up on the omega oils, its really good for both you and baby for eye and brain development!

Thanks for comments re my Nan, and I didn't mean to sound glum about '09, and you're right, we're only a few weeks in, things aren't so bad really. My car is insured, DS is fine, not really ill, the dog has recovered and it appears, so has my carpet...so its just my nan, and that was always going to be on the cards.

Nothing like a good venting to put things back in perspective though is there?

Cleaners have been and gone and my house has been transformed, I really don't know what I'd do without them . You can actually see the carpet in most of the rooms now! I say most, because the spare room is chockblock full of boxes waiting to go up into the attic post-christmas, but that's not too bad.

Downstairs is just swamped with DS toys! Really, its ridiculous! What are we supposed to do with them all??? What does everyone else do? Do you box them and 'rotate' them?

LaTourEiffel · 13/01/2009 10:48

Ooh Glask, sounds like you need some too! Available from

Some people say its tosh but I relied on it and DH could tell if I'd forgetten them for a few days!

tinkisdueanyday · 13/01/2009 10:48

perhaps u r right diege. as long as she comes soon

glas - dh is 40 mins away @ work not sure gof is going to work now.

glad pram sorted cosmo

GruffaloSoldier · 13/01/2009 10:49

Hello!

I am lurking but flitting about nesting

Have to go to work at 11.30 so just trying to get stuff done.

Have bought quite a bit of stuff off ebay the last couple of days so I am enjoying the retail therapy! Not to mention getting things so cheap!

Gyo - I have had my pram/pushchair gizmo since 22 weeks. We got it so early as it was on offer. I was a bit apprehensive but DH said what a load of crap (about superstition)and we got it. Just put it out of your mind and don't worry about it.

Sorry Latour that you are having a tough time, I hope things are looking up for you soon. You deserve a break!

Right off to do some more sorting, sorry I know I've missed loads. Will be back on later this evening!

LaTourEiffel · 13/01/2009 10:49

Hmmm see how long its been, I've forgotten how to do links!!

PR about it

glaskhamhasoneintheoven · 13/01/2009 11:02

the first link doesn't work again LaTour- whats it called and i can google for it!!

Tink- what time is he home? it may have to be first thing when he gets in and you can drag him upstairs... then hopefully a fast labour will keep me in with a chance

Gruff- I've been buying loads recently!! also have my finalised list of what i need- maternity pads, breast pads, freedom sling, bedding (all on order from verbaudet), My second pram (the Luna) and accessories, nursing bras, highchair seat that attaches to the dining table, nipple cream, nappy cream (bepanthen).... and a 'glowworm' for her off the DC's.... then i also want to get the DC's a small present from the baby that will keep them entertained while i'm glued to the sofa in the first week.... thinking along the lines of a DVD boxset and some new colouring books!!

then i'm sorted!!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 13/01/2009 11:04

ooh Thanks La Tour Good idea to find something and I was wondering if I was getting enough omega 3 since I cant face oily fish.

V envious of your cleaners, such utter joy to have a house cleaned by someeone else!

Will look tomorrow in Boots!

Hi Gruff- see you again soon!

kayzr · 13/01/2009 11:08

I've just had a huge row with DH. I honestly don't think there will be a DC as I am not sure we'll make it to this time next year. I am seriously hoping it is just due to being tired and irritable.

I feel like crap
