McDreamy - so is Berkshire tonight. I've had the heating on all day and have turned it off as I was overheating and it's cooled down really quickly .....BRRRRRRRR

herbgarden · 06/01/2009 21:33

Found the Ped Egg on Amazon - there are even used ones for sale -

littleboyblue · 06/01/2009 21:38

Evening all. Just watched Look Who's Talking Too, and spent most of the time in tears, thinking that'll be us soon! Have just promised myself to be very aware of ds1 at all times and to make a massive effort not to overlook him and include him in as much as possible. Parts of that film really upset me, where Mikey is sitting on his own while John T feeds baby. Bits were also really sweet. I know it's not the pregnancy hormones making me cry, because I've always cried at that film.

McDreamy · 06/01/2009 21:39

eeewwwww herbgarden!

swampster · 06/01/2009 22:03

I HAD to go look at the used ped eggs on amazon and guess what? There aren't any [disappointed] - it is just a category (used & new) but within that they are all new...

spottyshoes · 07/01/2009 07:44

Moooorning! DH is on earlies which means we ALL have to get up at 6

I have a fab cheesegrater for my feet from virgin vie. Someone told me how to open it the otherday (didn't realise it did) and eeeeeewwwwwwwww is all I can say

Right, must go and get everyone fed a clothed for the school run and then off to soft play this morning.

Have a good day

littleboyblue · 07/01/2009 08:36

Good morning. I'm 27 today, how farking scary is that?!

rosieposeyxmaspuddingandpie · 07/01/2009 08:51

Morning all,

Happy birthday LLB you mere slip of a thing! In another three weeks ill be 10 years older than you exactly ... now thats scary!

Some advice please ladies?

Ive worken up this morning with a dull periody ache, it is on and off but is uncomfortable enough to make me take paracetamol iyswim, its nowhere near as painful as the terrible pains i had the night before last but it is a definate dull ache as if im going to come on. Just wondered if anyone had any idea of what it could be as i dont really remember getting this in previous pregnancies and its quite uncomfortable. Maybe cervix or something softening up?

Had a light smattering of snow here today, nothing significant which is a shame but i think thats it now - at least its cold enough that it isnt melting straight away

littleboyblue · 07/01/2009 08:53

Don't know rosie sorry. Can you call maternity triage or DAU and ask midwife there what they think?

LittleMissNorty · 07/01/2009 08:56

Happy Birthday LBB . Being 40 is farking scary......can't even remember 27!

Rosie, do you think you should speak to MW - especially in the event of the other night....did you do too much yesterday?

Right, off to dentist for check-up....what a fun life I lead

rosieposey · 07/01/2009 09:07

Ive got DAU appt before Diabetes consultant this afternoon at three o clock so will speak to them then i think, no water leakage or show so pains on their own unless they get significantly worse arent the end of the world ( or the beginning of labour ) i suppose. Will see how they get on over the course of the day. I have a feeling its my body just gearing up slowly and over time for the inevitable but thanks for the advice anyway!

MarkStretch · 07/01/2009 09:14

Happy Birhday LBB!

A day of shopping for the Stretches today, getting last bits for hospital bag.

America- I am having to make the exact same decision- by Tuesday when I see my consultant I am supposed to have decided EC/VBAC and I still don't know what to do eeeek!

If you want to chat about it you can email me- [email protected], maybe we can help each other out?

dinkystinky · 07/01/2009 09:20

Rosie - take a nice warm bath. If the ache is still there after it, or doesnt disappear during it or becomes stronger, give DAU a call if you're worried. Sounds like usual late pregnancy stuff though.

LBB - happy birthday! Sending you virtual champagne, balloons and chocolates. Hope you have a good day today.

Markstretch, America - I think a few doulas and midwives hang out on the childbirth thread. You could always post on there with any questions/worries you have to get their take on it. Best of luck in deciding.

dinkystinky · 07/01/2009 09:21

P.s. Swampster, very relieved to hear that people arent trying to flog their second hand ped-eggs. Ugh.

littleboyblue · 07/01/2009 09:26

Thanx everyone. Not doing anything today. Just usual trip to tesco and some housework, will have a little drink on friday, my mum's having ds for the weekend while my dad comes over to do some decorating, so a little glass of wine and a take-away curry me thinks.

winemakesmummyclever · 07/01/2009 10:10

Hiya, has anyone got littlesez's mobile number?

I am meant to be meeting her for lunch today but am ill. Have msgd her on FB, but forgot her mobile number, and am not sure if she will check the net before leaving. If anyone has it can they either let me know it (via FB so the whole of MN doesn't see it) or let littlesez know that I cannot make it today. Would hate for her to go out in this snow for nothing .

Hope everyone else is getting on ok. I am doing v well with sticking to my minimal FB/MN resolution (have too much uni work to do at the mo), but missing you guys and all the gossip .

LBB - happy birthday! Have a good day!

Any news from MrsY? Any more pics/updates from TBM ?

Better get back to the house of plague

nkweto · 07/01/2009 10:12

Won't be able to catch up with everything but..

Happy Birthday LBB.. wish I was 27 !!!!!

Hope everything is ok with Mrsy, at least it sounds like it is PE..

Rosie, hope everything is ok.. as everyone else has said, call your midwives if you are still worried

My feet are disgusting.. must look into this pediegg !

oh yes.. baby is not transverse.. I was just being paranoid (OR spinning babies exercises did shift her as I dont have the funny movements on each side anymore..) so head down and ready to go, go, go.. mmm this is actually going to happen !

laidbackinengland · 07/01/2009 10:16

Glad to see people getting all 'ped-eggy' . I got a late christmas present of some rather nice fairisle bedsocks from Toast yesterday so was feeling all pleased with my self !

Rosie, I am having similar pains, they are occassional but definitely take my breath away in a kind of 'ooooow' sort of way. I remember them from last time and as you have wondered, I think they are the cervix slowly ripening and opening up (which I personally think happens when you have had a few pregnancies, resulting in quicker births). Obviously you need to keep on top of it and monitor if you are planning your cesearian. What date have you got booked again ?

Happy Birthday LBB ! Hope you are relaxing in between your tesco trip and housework !

America/MarkS - hope you come to a decision about which way you are going to go...lots of pros and cons of each I guess.

Have the midwife at 12.00 and then frien coming round with her two. I am 38 weeks on Friday and starting to get a bit worried about going too far from home. I ahve a training course next Wednesday in Yeovil ( about 2 hrs from home) which I really want to go to, but ....I think it might be tempting fate a bit. Very cold weather for layby birthing in front of colleagues .

rosieposey · 07/01/2009 11:59

Laidback still 4 weeks to go this Friday ( am booked for 6th Feb) which will make me 37+6 so a good chance it could happen earlier. I will keep an eye on them - they arent bad or anything just that crappy dull ache you get when you are on your period or about to come on. I am still getting BH but they are seperate so i guess the fact that my stomach isnt tightening with the pains is a good sign. I reckon you and dinky are right though and its usual late pregnancy stuff - i have just forgotton thats all! I have that appt this afternoon so will ask midwives in DAU. Its a bit disconcerting though, its like when you were very first pregnant ( i dont know about anyone else but this was me ) and you kept getting period pains as if you were going to come on but you never did!

Going to go out for some lunch with DD1 so cant be that bad Im bloody starving and have held off breakfast as am having a carvery ... perfect for this wintery weather

mumoverseas · 07/01/2009 13:25

OMG, DH just home from work and saw on sky news that there is a terrible bug going round the NNU at a Birmingham hospital and one newborn baby has died and others very ill.
I can't get on facebook, does anyone know if TBM and Sian are ok. Does anyone know which hospital they are in? Hospital involved is Birminghams Heartlands.
So upset here, can anyone find out if they are ok?

KazzaL · 07/01/2009 13:32

I saw that story on the BBC last night - I was up with DS at 2.30 who wanted more "muck" - he'd only had 2 lots 9oz already since bedtime..... he consumed over 30oz including his bedtime & wake-up drinks

I think I remember from earlier posts that TBM's in a different hosp, I hope - I've been keeping my fingers crossed and checking FB, but I can't check it while at work

mumoverseas · 07/01/2009 13:34

sorry, was panicing a bit. Just done a bit more research online and the baby that died passed away a week or so ago so thank god not Sian but some others are really ill. How horrible.

OMG, 30 oz of milk? He will explode!

BTW happy birthday LBB, hope you have a fab day

KazzaL · 07/01/2009 13:57

Can't find a thraed which says which hosp TBM & Sian are in, but I'm sure they'll be ok.

DS seemed fine after 30oz of milk in one night and he'd actually eaten lots including seconds all day yesterdya in nursery. He'd lots over half a kilo when we saw the paed on NYE, so he's on a "eat anything he wants" diet at the mo, just to try and get his appetite back up and then once he's eating properly again we can start working on the nutrition. His nappy did struggle to cope with the output though

Just found somehting that made me laugh in one of our old threads whilst seeing if I could find the hosp that TBM is in - I'd been asking for tips on how to help DS grasp th idea that there was going to be a new baby soon and everyone mentioned lots of books (DH wouldn't go for the buggy & doll idea) and spottyshoes said that her DC was pulling up her top and exposing the bump when asked where the baby was - my DS is now doing this too - I don't really have a problem with this except DH thinks it's funny to ask DS where the baby is or to give the baby a kiss whenever we have guests or meet up with friends.......

dinkystinky · 07/01/2009 13:58

Wow - your DS loves the milk Kazza! I think in this cold weather everyone gets more hungry - well, everyone except my DS of course

MoS - think from Facebook that TBM and Sian are on the transition ward now in whichever hospital they're in so hopefully they're ok. Sounds like Sian is a total milk fan too from TBM's posts.

herbgarden · 07/01/2009 14:05

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LBB you young whipper snapper you....

rosie - I was complaining of similar to dh this morning. The weird thing for me is that as I never went into labour last time and was induced with an epidural so I have no idea what true labour pains feel like and don't remember this crampy feeling last time either. I then found my "what to expect when you're expecting" book out and it talks about getting period type pains around this time. Mine came in waves over about a 40 min period around 6.45am and were coupled with a headache (but I was awake quite a lot in the night too so prob a bit tired) so I took some paracetemol. I think I overdid it a bit yesterday with my flatpack furniture building extravaganza so laid in bed whilst ds played around me for about an hour or so. They have definitely gone away but I've calmed the pace today - invited the in-laws over this am so I can go for a snooze whilst they entertain ds !....they were very excited about being invited so everyone's a winner.

The book did also say that you'd just "know" I suppose if yours get worse or you're worried you'll need to phone in again or, like dinky says, take a bath and see if they subside. The book also said that walking around /changing position will usually make the non-labour type pain go away...
