moosemama · 22/12/2008 15:56

DH has promised to be home for 5 so I can slope off for some sleep. Must wake up later rather than sleep through though as have nowhere near finished wrapping the boys presents yet.

I know what you mean, she's not that big on the baby scale iykwim, but I have such a compact bump I can't believe she managed it with so little room. Now with DS2 I could have understood him managing to do something like that - I was literally whale sized with him!

treedelivery · 22/12/2008 16:00

It those abs of steel - they coaxed her round! RESPECT!

Wrap tommorow night. Bed bed bed. I Haven't got up today, prob get a DVT. Not feeling like world is a place for facing up to. Just for eating pringles in instead. ANd feeling sorry for myself. It was sunny today too, wasted day grumping over hard life. Tut.

moosemama · 22/12/2008 16:24

Oh Tree! You need chocolate not pringles! A duvet day is probably just what you needed, but would definitely work better with chocolate. Mince pies work too, but are a poor subsitute for chocolate imho!

A duvet day is never a wasted day! Everyone needs to recharge their batteries sometimes and with your life and workload I'm in awe that you have lasted this long. Don't give yourself a hard time about taking care of yourself - you deserve it!

treedelivery · 22/12/2008 16:30

Thank you!! Am tearfull today so your words very very lovely.

Almost just wish could labour to have something constructive, positive and exciting to do!

tinkisabigpinksparklybauble · 22/12/2008 17:02

hi all

mm - ye for bubs turning i actually want mine to stay this way now going to hospital tom for scan to see what position hoping they will book me in for a csection @ 39 weeks.
had horrid 2nd degree tear with dd

moosemama · 22/12/2008 17:16

Hi tink

Can understand that. Had 2nd degree with DS2 but was lucky enough to heal really quickly. Good luck for tomorrow, hope you get the outcome you want.

Tree - off to bed now. Try to stay positive, am thinking of you.

qumps · 22/12/2008 17:23

post first read later.
baby stanley arrived on friday 19th dec at 1617 weighing 7lbs 12oz. 3 weeks eary the little pork chop!
came home yesterday and loving life. big bro thinks he is fab (not sure how long it will last though) and despite mummys nipples nearly falling off at constant feeding all is good. checked over by paediatrician and all seems well but he has to go for a brain and heart scan next week just to check the soft markers.
very quick labour in the end. aches and pains all night before followed by severe vommiting and trip to hospital at 10am. was 3cm dilated but not sure if in proper labour or had a bug. waters broke at 1230. back at hospital at 1430, 8-9cm at 1545, 17 mins of pushing and out he popped. so relieved not a c section and that the little one arrived safe and sound.
currenlty uploading photos so will put one up on proflie.
right will check now if anyone else has popped!

congrats on the birth of stanley
stanley is such a cute name

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 22/12/2008 18:54

Congratulations qumps! Nice one. Stanley was my grandads' name. Good choice

stripeywoollenhat · 22/12/2008 19:43

congrats to heathersmummy and qumps, welcome to fraser and stanley! and hooray for your small one's gymnastics, moosemama.

i'm not sure what titch is up to today, but i am really uncomfortable - lots of pressure low down so i'm wondering if she is trying to engage. she's also very wiggly in a general sense, which has been quite distracting, not good since today involved a good deal of arithmetic and i'm already struggling with pregnant brain on that score. but at least tomorrow is last day of work - and i'm not going back until november 2009!!!!! i have an antenatal appointment tomorrow so perhaps all will be explained. or perhaps not, maybe she's just messing about....

happyathome · 22/12/2008 21:22

congrats Qumps...have a great xmas with Stanley(i like that name too!)

moosemama · 22/12/2008 22:21

Am up again! Decided I had to get some wrapping done. DH no help at all with wrapping - same every year. He is currently sitting/bouncing on my birthing ball again as I vacated it for all of 5 seconds! He says he is testing whether or not it needs pumping up but I suspect otherwise!

Qumps many congratulations on the arrival of little Stanley. Great news that it was such a quick delivery too!

treedelivery · 22/12/2008 22:32

I'm still here!! Hope nap was lush.

A WHOLE day in bed. Feel totally guilty but hadn't any energy so hey ho. Night shift tommorrow too.

Supoose could drag self off to Tesco and do food shopping.........

Somone come up with reason not too quick!!!!

moosemama · 22/12/2008 22:59

Because you are having a duvet day of course! You don't need any more reason than that. Now, stop feeling guilty and allow yourself some down time. Can't DH do shop tomorrow?

ps Nap was great, but missed tea! Am now starving and really want lemon and coriander hoummous and avocado on toast but don't want to eat just before bed. Will try filling myself up with a hot chocolate methinks.

Had a good wrapping session sat on birth ball bouncing around a fold up table! Still keep feeling my bump though as paranoid she will have moved!

treedelivery · 22/12/2008 23:17

Oh God that toast sounds amazing!! Am having heinz sandwich spread on stale bread as there were no meals and no shopping here today! Got up to get dressed at 11pm and couldn't even be fussed to wrestle into clothes. Back in bed with lap top!
DH off to garage for diet coke [our cure-all]

I REALLY REALLY hope she stays put. I'm sure she will, the odds of her turning cephalic at this stage were small ish, so to turn again would be crazy talk. Plus now you have gravity and pelvis and 'nature's way' on your side. Have a jolly mental image of you bouncing about with sellotape.

Poor Poor you!! You have loads on and a moan is the only thing to be done.

Codeine might help you sleep - hope it does. Then you can get on with that complaint tommorrow [no one should make parents feel crap for trying so hard to look after their kids]. Hot water bottle for you and loads of pillows to prop you up in bed. x

elkiedee · 23/12/2008 00:03

Congratulations qumps

moosemama, glad you got your birthing ball back off dh. Do your other kids want to play with it as well? I'm sure ds would.

Sorry that you've had a bad day givethedog

treedelivery · 23/12/2008 02:22

36w, tightnings and period pain and back ache.

That might mean something!! Keep telling self am constipated. Hmmmmm.

having a baby be one way of not doing Tuesday night shift I suppose!

Shanster · 23/12/2008 04:31

OK, this may seem like a stupid question at this stage, but what exactly do BH contractions feel like? I think I am having some - belly goes all tight as if some force around baby is stretching? Or maybe belly just spasms after baby stretches? i wouldn't say they are painful though, just mildly uncomfortable. Madam has been knocking lumps out of me today, hope she is not on the move again.
I can empathize with you treedelivery I know I am looking for signs now, and want to convince myself that we are on the right track at least...
Have OB appointment tomorrow, so hopefully he'll be able to tell me if everything looks good.
Feel great tonight as I finished my last work assignment, so I can relax for a few weeks. If madam doesn't arrive by 7th Jan, I'll have to go back to work until she does show up...I really want to avoid that, I want to be properly on mat leave now. Argh, wish I was back in the UK!!!

Periwink · 23/12/2008 08:39

qumps - congratulation on the arrival of Stanley. I am loving all these postive birth stories, makes a wonderful change!

rrrayray · 23/12/2008 09:36

Qumps Congrats on stanley. What a lovely early xmas present.

My feet and hands are so swollen today that my knuckles really hurt :-( i thought that hands being swollen wasnt good, but midwife didn't seem to interested last time i was there!
