Congratulations HM how fantastic!! so much for inductions being horrible - sounds like you did brilliantly! and hurrah too for Fraser - a perfect early Christmas present

missj well done on surviving the big move, you must be shattered. I reckon JL is pretty good, I shopped around for the bigger stuff (cots etc) last time and ended up going back to JL as they were really competitive. They seem to be hot on customer service too - have a friend who had a bugaboo from them, which needed repairs for a recurrent problem. When it still wasn't really right after two years, they gave her a full refund!! the problem wasn't even that massive, so effectively she had a free buggy for those 2 yrs..
.. and I don't think there's any reason to stop having sex, right up until your waters have broken. The Ina May book I've got reckons sex in early labour can move things along, in fact, but I can't really imagine being in the mood and apparently it can be 'uncomfortable'

Right girls, I know lots of us are feeling droopy and horrible, but it feels like we need to pep-talk-ourselves up before we get too stressed and miserable!
We are all fabulous, gorgeous and amazing women whose bodies are doing something truly incredible. Whenever and however our labours happen, we will be bringing a new life, spirit, soul, into the world. This little creature will be unique and beautiful, and will change our lives in ways we can't imagine. We will cope superbly, learn new things about ourselves and in spite of the hard bits, be blown away by it all. WE ARE HAVING BABIES!!!! WOOHHHHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

fymandbean · 21/12/2008 19:25

congratulations on the new arrival!

Give the dog - you need "simple linctus" as a cough medicine (I got mine from Lloyds pharmacy I'm sure boots do it to!)

Spink · 21/12/2008 19:42

fymandbean - isn't it your birthday today?? if so - HAPPY BIRTHDAY, hope you are having a fab day

fymandbean · 21/12/2008 20:09

Happy Birthday fymandbean
....Sorry your poorly on your birthday Still poorly here too. just don't seem able to shift it!

Have 2 other couples coming over to ours for a christmas dinner party tomorrow night. Very much looking forwards to it, hoping for a good nights sleep to make me feel better!!!!

miss J Glad move went well & you get things just how you want them before baby arrives.

LooseyC · 21/12/2008 20:44

Hello all - thanks for the new thread and congrats to those who have had their babies! I can't believe there are so many already... well done you!

We've all had really horrible cold for a couple of weeks and I was feeling down - DS had a grotty first birthday due to having 2 forms of the lurgi at once, but now we're all better it's great and I'm enjoying the last of this pregnancy. I really missed the bump last time despite having the baby - sounds weird but I really like the kicks and wondering who is in there!

And I've packed my hospital bag - now that did make it all seem very real! Only the TENS machine to add now, but hopefully plenty of time for that to arrive so I can have a play and remember how the damn thing works!

LenniEd · 21/12/2008 21:26

Had time to read but not to post as got visitors, will catch up properly tomorrow. Wanted to say a massive congratulations to HeathersMummy - your story brought tears to my eyes, really lovely. Sounds like a wonderful experience and glad you are home. Have a lovely first Christmas togather [fmile]

NatalieJaneIsPregnantAgain · 22/12/2008 07:57

Good morning

Heather'smummy, huge congratulations on the birth of Fraser Sounds like a bit of ado to get it going but well worth it now! Have a lovely christmas with your new arrival

Fym, hope you had a lovely birthday?!

MissJackson, well done on getting through a house move in one piece! It takes me half an hour just to move from downstairs to upstairs, how on earth you've managed to move a whole house is beyond me!

Thought we had another nightmare starting last night, my kidneys were really hurting again, I had visions of them either not letting the induction go ahead until the AB's finished, or in some ways worse, deciding he couldn't take another infection and to get him out now, which would have been touch and go for xmas at home! My kidneys are still rumbling a bit this morning but nothing like last night, so hopefully it was just a wake up call to drink some more, I have been lacking a bit on that front over the weekend, hence already having drunk 2 pints of icey water!

tinkisabigpinksparklybauble · 22/12/2008 08:58

Congratulations HEATHERSMUMMY!!!

You are Frasers mummy too now

Sorry to those of you who feel poorly. I seem to be the only one avoiding it in this house! Power of the mind Am too busy to be ill.

The cleaning crusade continues... dh is a bit and at it i think. I have stripped the cushion covers and throws now.

We are off tomorrow so may not be back on till after Xmas. I hope everyone has a lovely Xmas and will be excited to see if there are any more babies born!!!

Good luck and see you all on the other side

moosemama · 22/12/2008 11:58

Congratulations HeathersMummy lovely to hear such a positive birth story, real motivation for us all! Wishing you a lovely Christmas with your new addition.

Guess what folks. Have just got back from the antenatal clinic at the hospital and SHE'S TURNED!

Have had hardly any sleep for 3 nights and only an hour last night with all her shenanigans but it was worth it.

There was some concern about her being small again, but had another scan and they now reckon she's going to be around 6 10 so are happy for me to carry on as normal. Going back on 5th Jan (40+2) to discuss a sweep if favourable and then would be happy for me to go 40+10 before thinking about inducing.

Just left a message for midwife to call and arrange next appointment. Need to decide if I want to try and have that home birth now or if its just too much pressure with the house still not being sorted.

Tink don't know if it would work for transverse, but I reckon what turned this little madam was filling the bath right to the top and lying in it bump down in the dark (head turned to side on bath pillow), deep breathing and visualising bubs in the right position. I did this for about 10-15 minutes every night before bed for three days and lo and behold it seems to have worked for me. Mind you, she did the actual turning during the night and it hurt like hell, whilst simultaneously making shake and feel like I was going to throw up!

Anyone heard from qumps or is she still missing in action?

Ginni · 22/12/2008 12:17

hey spink, great message you wrote, made me weep abit, i'm feeling very emotional at the moment, unattractive, fat and very moody so it did help!

Congratulations HM, that is such an inspiring story, I hope the rest of us can have such a smooth labor. BTW how did it feel to have your waters broken artificially? It's something i'm worried about - was it terribly painful???

Spink · 22/12/2008 12:34

thanks Ginni glad it helped!! Came up because dh gave me a bit of a talking to about how I've been focusing on the hard stuff and forgetting the lovely stuff to come. I'm even getting kind of excited about labour now!

mm blimey that is great news! how lovely that the choice about labour is back in your hands.

I've just had a mw appt and baby is still head down, 3/5ths engaged and looking good. ROA, so I'll do some crawling around and hopefully get bub to swing over.. dh is going to do a dry run of the birth-pool-setting-up today or tomorrow! tee hee!! He thought I was in labour last night as felt really sick and gut achey, and having some irregular but painful contractions. All stopped this morning, and hopefully will stay stopped til after Christmas!

treedelivery · 22/12/2008 13:31

moosemamma - I'm chuffed to bits for you!! Don't put yourself under too much pressure about the next choices, just enjoy this brilliant piece of news.

Brilliant! Get your baby to talk to baby tink about how to get it sorted.

Poor DH got two 'failed to get interview today' Poo. He's not going to get a job anytime soon and my mat leave isn't going to be the 9 months of home loveliness I really feel we've worked for. Sigh.

Where is Qumps? Anyone else AWOL?

moosemama · 22/12/2008 13:39

Thanks Spink and Tree.

Have been trying to decide what I can do to make her stay the right way up now! Think I will try sitting on the birth ball a lot to encourage her to stay put.

Sorry to hear about the interview situation Tree. Something will turn up. January is a new beginning and also the time any employers will start looking to recruit again, don't lose heart. Will keep everything crossed for you and your DH.

treedelivery · 22/12/2008 13:53

Thanks moose

Get on that ball girl!! But she'll stay down I'm sure, it will feel right to her and a beter fit. Yipee! She did well to turn, it must have nipped a bit - ouch.

moosemama · 22/12/2008 15:24

I know I should get on the ball, but I just want to sleeeeep! Think its the relief. Finally, DS2 is so much better, baby has discovered the exit route and we are nearly ready for Christmas. (House still decidedly lacking in some areas, but am not even going to think about that.)

It certainly did nip! Spent the last three nights in what I would definitely call pain rather than discomfort with a lot of tears and whimpering and little or no sleep. Bless her, she really tried her hardest to turn around, must've been a huge effort for her. DH was decidedly unsympathetic about being disturbed until he found out she'd turned, now he's all, "well it was worth it then"!

We have all 3 dogs home now. I was well and truly ambushed (good job I was sitting down) when the big guys got back from the kennels last night. It was lovely to find that they had missed me so much! House decidedly furrier and a little bit smellier (despite all three having a bath at the weekend) but definitely feels more like home.

treedelivery · 22/12/2008 15:50

You sound happy and content, your other babies home and this baby facing the right way. Ready for lift off!!

Get to bed asap, bet the stress relief put you into best sleep of your life. Imagine such a large baby turning in you, makes my eyes water. Mine did it at 32 ish weeks and it was just bonkers bizzare and uncomfortable.
