Hi Ladies,

Am happy to report another arrival! DD arrived 2 weeks early on 29th Dec. She was obviously in a hurry! Hope you are all doing well, and thanks for all the advice and chat.

XX Scared

fourlittlefeet · 01/01/2009 20:06

Tree; hope you have a chance to rest and relax.

Congratulations Scared, the postnatal thread link is a little further up

Congrats to scaredofeverthing

stripeywoollenhat · 01/01/2009 20:56

congrats on arrival of dd, scared!

well, i've had a pretty quiet day after spending a couple of hours awake in the middle of the night with nasty period like cramps, wondering if lo was also so freaked out by midwife yesterday that she'd decided to disembark two weeks early... but no, all calmed down now, still occasional twinges but nothing untoward. and the lo has been pretty quiet all day - definitely had the ten movements, but not so much of the vigorous kicking.

tree, extremely sorry to hear about disturbing bathroom episode, hope you are feeling better about it now

treedelivery · 01/01/2009 21:03

Phrase disturbing bathroom episode has made me ROFL so must be feeling ok.

Tired but might go pack the bag as a cheery upper.

Cat demanding to practically sit on my head which I think is usually a sign of crazy pregnancy hormones.

LooseyC · 01/01/2009 21:09

Hello - Happy new year to everyone and congrats Ginni and Scared! Let us know more about how it went!

Isn't it odd now Jan is finally here - it's been so far away for so long, and we can't put off thinking about it properly now - I think I've been in denial for ages!

Hope those with early signs are feeling ok. I'm sort of jealous as it's all so exciting although it sounds pretty uncomfortable. I've never had any BH or anything with either pregnancy so think I will totally over-react if I get any false alarms.

rray - I'm as emotional as you and without any cause at all. End up weeping every night over abosolutely stupid things, trying to hide it from DH as he must think I'm going insane.

Oh well, 3 weeks for me and counting! Don't think it will be early as absolutely zilch is happening over here...

rrrayray · 01/01/2009 21:13

Loosey Glad not just me then!

Congrats Scared Let us knnow the story when you have a min.

Tree Glad your feeling a bit better.

Stripey Sorry to hear bubbs not ready just yet.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh Tink has been a bit quiet.... Maybe little tink is on way out???

Off for some raspberry leaf and bed! Good luck anyone who goes into labour overnight!!

treedelivery · 01/01/2009 21:25

Where is Tink - I keep thinking I see here about but then not sure.

rrrayray · 01/01/2009 21:27

i think she last posted yesterday saying she had some period cramps!!!!! I think my money is on her currently birthing baby tink!! Go girl!!!

Does anyone else's bubba have regular hiccups? Mine seems to have at least one bout a day!

rrrayray · 01/01/2009 21:28

ps, Tink last updated her facebook status at 10.51 am this morning..... So... maybe she isn't?!?!

rrrayray · 01/01/2009 21:28

poor tink... we sound like her stalkers :-D

LenniEd · 01/01/2009 21:35

CONGRATULATIONS Scared. And glad those of you that managed it had a good night last night.

Tink posted on here this afternoon about cramps and using the toilet a lot! We are really getting dreadful with all the speculation aren't we!! I thought my friends and relatives were bad! I have had so many texts and phone calls in the last week with people desperately trying to sound like they aren't just checking up on me My Grandmother is the worst - she just rings and says "Oh, hello" as if she wasn't expecting me to answer, and then can't think of anything else to say I wouldn't mind but I went to 40wks last time and expect I will again so they are being a bit previous.

Glad all relatively ok - sorry to hear you are ill Moosemama, and Tree I think with everything that's happened recently you are entitled to a meltdown of mammoth proportions, let alone a 'disturbing bathroom episode' - made me laugh too. Stripey you should be a writer!

Am indeed an anal retentive when despite all the crapolla of December the best I can manage is a few tears and a bathroom episode! Heavy use of Rennie also.

Having a jolly good feminist uprising on another thread so that is helping channel some bile!!

fymandbean · 01/01/2009 22:09

ok girls just started a thread as follows in childbirth section - any of you have any good ideas??

Am just getting my head around the idea of a home birth and my lovely midwife has suggested a water birth...

It sounds like a good idea and as birth is just over 3 weeks away (assuming baby not early ) I need to get on with it ASAP....

I can see two main options - a blow up cheapish pool and an expensive rigid hired heated type one. Anyone who has used one or the other I'd be grateful for your opinions. Thanks in advance!!!

fymandbean · 01/01/2009 22:21

have just been doing some eBay research and realised you can buy the inflatable type second hand - isn't that a bit grim???

treedelivery · 01/01/2009 22:28

Very possibly! The ones in hospital need a special cleaning product [and a very noxious keep well back if your asthmatic type nasty it is] between labourers.

No experience of either sorry! Except for a friend who ended up a long way away from her pool in hospital, but came home and got in postnataly with her new bubs and floated about for hours.. Genius idea!

Whoahhhhh!! Nearly had to crawl to loo!! Had full bladder to front, large..well..more bloody...er...fibre..to the back and a head in between. Pelvis was unable to cope!

Now that was uncomfortable! This is my preganancy mantra and war cry 'I never had any of this with Jess'

elkiedee · 02/01/2009 00:37

Congratulations Ginni and Scared, happy new year to all.

Hi olipop, if you're lonely you're more than welcome to hang out here (I did that with ds1 due in April and born on 4 May 2007), and I'm due even later in the month this time on 26th so may well still be here in February.

Sorry to hear everyone else is so uncomfortable. I ended up being sick again this morning - I had a lot of that on maternity leave last time and still had to wait a month.

happyathome · 02/01/2009 00:52

hi everyone,
no new stuff here labour wise, but plenty of agony/misery from another cold type virus.spent last 2 full days in bed.DH looking after me and dd at GP's in case we have to rush in.was aching all over so bad yesterday couldn't even lie in bed and was crying my eyes out for ages.panicked that i won't be able to do labour in that state and think they may want to induce me this following week(38+2 today).another consultant appointment tommorow.scared of another internal to check womb neck.really killed on Tuesday and made me spot blood a bit.Is it supposed to hurt so much?.
sympathy to my fellow virus sufferers again.it reaaly wipes you out where you just want to scream "GIVE ME A C-SECTION NOW!!!!!".Thought of waters being broken in theatre and not knowing if Snugs will engage or not due to all fluid is terrifying me.Anyway ,going to try sleep again, but all i can do is lie staring at cot and thinking about induction and this last fortnight has felt like 2 years.
Congrats Ginni and Scared...great news,so happy for you.
HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone too.and 'baby descending smoothly' dust to you all
x

fourlittlefeet · 02/01/2009 01:33

hi happy if you are still up!

can't believe that here I am again with fecking BH. Just about had enough and want some sleep!

happyathome · 02/01/2009 01:42

yup still up,can't sleep either, but going to have to lie down now.BH's too and getting kicked.Feel like i'm going to explode.Sorry about yours.Have you tried listning to soothing music.I tried that yesterday and it helped a bit.Thought it might soothe Snugs and stop him kicking.
was it you who got a loola. We've got one too(black).Hope we're going to like it.
ow.ow OW...got to go,hope you get some sleep.
x

Spink · 02/01/2009 07:07

fym wanted to reply to your pool Q before I forget.. I've gone for the inflatable type because it is smaller and cheaper, my main worry about it is whether it will stay warm for long enough - but apparently pools only drop 1degC per hour, and less with a heat cover.
I got mine on ebay too - as long as you have a new liner you should be fine! And besides, lots of people sell them unused (but having been inflated/filled) because things come up and a water birth just doesn't happen...
This was another factor in our choice. The rigid side ones tend to be for hire only, and were around £200. If for some reason I couldn't use the pool, that would feel like way too much. But if I don't use the birth pool in a box, we'll just resell it on ebay, and because it'll (still) be unused, shouldn't lose much money on it.
sorry for mammoth post! hth

Spink · 02/01/2009 07:08

happy & Flf - how did those BHs work out? Get any sleep in the end??

Periwink · 02/01/2009 08:57

Congrats to Scared and Ginni!

Rrrayray you are not alone in your over hormonla state - my hormones are bonkers at the moment. Also snoring here and have never done so before also to the extent that i wake myself up - dh finds it very funny as i give him so much griedf when he snores - oh well another attractive feature of pregnancy.

Tomorrow is my due date - crikey cannot believe the time has come around so quickly, my midwife seems to think that baby will arrive next week sometime. I have another midwife appointment on Monday and if baby has not arrived midwife is going to do a sweep - just to get things moving, sweep does not sound like much fun but i would rather try and gte a moveon with things than be 2 weeks overdue - belly could not take the strain!

Hope you all have a great new year!
