argh, what a shitty night. Between having more periody niggles, falling down some stairs on the way to the loo and being kept awake by dh's snoring/party animal neighbours, I am shattered and feeling horrible. Sorry, not a nice start to the 2009 postings boo feeling fed up

Shanster · 01/01/2009 05:33

Happy New Year everyone!! Have to say being preggers is quite convenient as nobody raises an eyebrow when you decide to leave a party early Suspect having a small child around will have the same effect.
Hope everyone had a good Hogmannay, and hopefully some we can start the year with a good run of babies.
Apparently the first full moon is on the 11th and according to a programme I watched the other day, more babies are born just before a full moon than other times of the month, so I have my hopes pinned on the gravitational pull of the moon if all this sex, walking, raspberry leaf tea and pineapple doesn't work out.....

Olipop · 01/01/2009 07:18

Hello, just wanted to drop in and say hello from the DEC 08 thread...I think I may be one of the only ones left to pop....my last buddy was having contractions last night which I think was very mean of her!!!! I wanted to wish you a happy new year and good luck with all the Jan 09 babies!

LenniEd · 01/01/2009 09:15

Hi Olipop - feel free to stay a while

Good news about the full moon Shanster, sounds like just what we need. Although not sure what my local maternity unit will be like on a full moon was busy enough on xmas day!

BTW Spink - similar here and also fed up (am I allowed to be fed up at 38+2, don't think I am!!) Just said to DH 'I think this baby is starting to take the p%^$ a bit now' am fed up of contractions every couple of nights and thinking I'm starting up only to finally get off to sleep at about 3am and nothing else happen. I'm bloody tired now and I haven't even had a baby yet!!! Oh well, he'll come when he's ready yeah right!!!!

Am sure someone else must have popped in the last few days though - FLF/Stripey maybe?? So that will give me renewed hope when we get news

GTDAB - hope you ended up having a lovely dinner after all last night!!

any updates FLF or anyone else with niggles? We need a 2009 baby!

rrrayray · 01/01/2009 12:35

Happy New Year one and all Hope everyone enjoyed themselves last night, whatever they were up to. We went to our friends about 6pm, and by 8pm i was WELL and truly ready for my bed! But stuck it out until 12, and literally left at 12.02 (although had warned them this was going to happen!) ha!

Ginni Massive congratulations, you sound totally smitten. All you ladies having your babies are making me so excited and eager to meet my little bundle!

MissJ Glad you have everything lined up now. Sorry no internet- you must be having MN withdrawls!

Fymandbean Glad BP down a bit, and no protien! Ticks in the right boxes

spink Evening walk by Brighton pier sounds divine all wrapped up....Sniff sniff... there are times when i miss Brighton LOTS!

Givethedog i too am laughing at preggy rage yesterday. had even calmed down enough to tell friends last night that i was a nutter!!!

midwife appointment this morning went Well, trace of protien in urine (bearing in mind the size of my feet and hands recently, got a bit of a sweat on) But while BP has increased, only ever so slightly to 120/60... so we're all good! Only measuring 34.5 weeks, but MW didn't seem too fussed. Not booked in to for another Appt until 14th... Hoping to pop her out by then!!!

Had massive scare on way home, popped into Tescos for some steaks to do OH lovely dinner tonight, (and picked up a new hoover, other one blew up on OH the other day, nice VAX one, £250 down to £75... never thought i'd be so excited to get a hoover out of the box and hoovering! ) But on way home saw a remains crash on otherside of carriageway, wasnt till past realised one of the cars involved was the same make & model as OH's team mate who they share lifts in with (lives 2 seconds around the corner) and started freaking out, as phone at home as had no battery, start bursting into tears thinking how i couldn't survive without him, and how my poor little baby couldn't be born without her daddy (Ambulances had obviously already been as only police at scene and nobody in cars)...course when i get home he doesn't answer his phone (to be fair, they don't usually finish training till gone 1pm, and i know this, but you can't help but freak out) Anyway, he has JUST called me... (obviously as soon as got into dressing room) But my goodness i've never been so pleased to hear his voice- i burst into tears!!!

Anyone elses hormones gone mad? i was all prepared for them to be all over the show first few months, but i really havent been at all hormonal/emmotional until literally the last few days & i've gone bloody bonkers!!!!! Hope OH knows its pregnancy and i haven't just lost the plot!!!

Off to put on some home made soup (so many veggies to use up!) and vaccum the house with my new posh hoover!

Ps, Oh forgot MsSparkle.... Am totally confused why birthing centre wont let you go over at all? My birthing centre will let me go to 42 weeks, and then if induction required have to go to consultant led unit for that. Can't see the problem with you going a few days over, when scans can be inaccurate...Hmmmmmmmmmmm!!!! So does this mean now we're into jan that you can no longer go midwife led? Look into that... i just can't see how, if you have no problems or indications of problems, where the problem is?!?!

MsSparkle · 01/01/2009 13:11

Saw midwife yesterday i she informed me that i CAN go to the midwife led unit after 40 weeks! So the people that have been telling me otherwise are idiots!

My baby is back to back apparently. I am 1 day overdue now and impatiently waiting. Dp goes back to work Monday and i was hoping the baby would be born before that so i have him home. I have had a cleaning session this morning, maybe that's a sign...

CONGRATS to Ginni!

fourlittlefeet · 01/01/2009 13:32

Happy New Year all!

thats great news sparkle
congrats Ginni and well done! I second perservering with the breastfeeding, would recommend putting on Lansinoh before and after every feed, and trying not to use formula as that will spell an end to your breastfeeding hopes pretty quickly.

Lenni - hope your BP comes down, think we all have blips, they just sometimes get caught on camera.

Stripey, please get yourself on the spinning babies website to get it into a better position and pick up some great tips for speeding up labour/avoiding forceps etc. Its a really great site!

So, having bossed everyone around... ... I'm still having loads of niggles too and DP now officially not interested when I mention it as its been going on so long. Grrr.

treedelivery · 01/01/2009 13:35

Congrats to Ginni, hope the boobs are feeling better?

So the race is on for the 1st 2009 bubbs!! Who will it be who will it be????

Not me - BH have really settled recently. Party was brilliant, dd1 [4] went to nannas about 50 miles away, she hates noise etc. Had about 30 adults and 10 kids or so. Trashed the place but it was a really god atmosphere, quite loud actually!! Even had a marital argument over something perhaps flirting and someone had a bit of a beery puke - so realy bonafide paaarty!
Only just awake so haven't ventured down to catalogue damage - can confirm wood worktops and laura ashley glassses ok so don't care about the rest!

Think MW often get the 'pitch' wrong, know we have, then keep wading in getting futher and futher into the mire!! I've done it - where I wish I could either just rewind conversation or stop mouth talking!
Loads of smaller women have big babies that whizz out, loads of sections in labour are done on very standard women and fairly petite babies - who the hell knows!? I never make any predictions anymore, not even in labour, because I don't know, and even if you say that you are totally guessing people take you at your word and remember in for years. I'm very happy to be a clueless humble midwife with a 'lets suck it and see' attitude - it's 100% unpredictable!! It doesn't make me look very impresive unfortunately! I've decided facts are facts [it's ebgaged, it isn't, it's positioned here or there], but that can all change in an hour or affect things or not and who the hell knows!?

MsSparkle - am glad that has been confirmed, would be quite MLU if didn't take at 40+ as the statistical 'hot spot' for delivery is 40+6 in first timers and most people giving birth in the UK are 1st timers so....

Off to do more catching up.

rrayray - I know what you mean I'm getting all hormonal about the untidiness of the house

moosemama · 01/01/2009 15:12

Hi all.

NY not off to a good start here. I have come down with the dreaded cold now as well. It might not even be the same one actually, as mainly conists of killer sinus headache and a really, really bad sore throat.

DH and I watched The Spiderwick Chronicles on pay per view and had a curry last night, but both felt so rough that we were in bed for 10.00! Then DH had to get up for an hour at midnight as the dog was completely freaked out by all the fireworks and he had to sit with her in the living room until they stopped.

Been feeling really odd all day today, even wondered if things might be starting off for a while as had loads of really uncomfortable/painful pressure felt dizzy ad shaky and had to keep tripping off to the toilet. Had a nice long bath and went back to bed as DH started to panic because I apparently looked so pale and have just got up again. Still feel really strange but not as bad and no more pressure or pain so is probably just the virus rather than anything interesting happening.

Mum still driving us insane, she sent us a text at midnight which started off as Happy New Year, then descended into a poor me, I can't cope, I'm not going to be able to help you out y'know etc etc etc one! I had my phone switched off but she sent it to DH as well!

DH is being an absolute star though. He has looked after the boys, done a thorough downstairs clean and is currently putting the christmas decorations away to make room for the birth pool. (Feel really guilty about my man flu comment yesterday now.)

tinkwantsherbaby · 01/01/2009 16:03

oooh tink sounds promising - keep us updated!

rrrayray · 01/01/2009 16:55

tink Exciting! Keep us posted.

Actually, i totally forgot, but OH has reminded me that i got up in the middle of the night several times last night, not for usual wees (well those two) but i kindly informed him i had a runny tummy, and i was acually sick about 3am. But feeling quite normal today (well as normal as you can heavily pregnant) and hurrah hearing is SEMI coming back, and i feel SLIGHTLY better cold wise. I've heard of people having a pre labour "clear out" but... is sickness a sign of this too? or is that more likely my tummy not liking the look of something?

has anyone else started snoring, but never has done pre-pregnancy?moose Sorry about mother. My parents, bless, i think got a bit worried tonight/today, as they both text me and OH last night, to no reply, and i didn't call them until about 3pm today, as our phones were dead with battery. But they knew i had a MW appt 10am... so i think they were a littler concerned i'd been whisked into hospitial or something! Bless!

Mssparkle Very glad you can go past 40 weeks. Thought was a little odd!

Been whizzing around with new hoover. now on bean bag next to wood fire with cookies! Yum!

fymandbean · 01/01/2009 16:56

I'm snoring but more to do with cold/flu than pregnancy!

rrrayray · 01/01/2009 17:11

i don't think i've ever snored with a cold before, maybe heavier breathing, but i'm actually snoring now. Its rather annoying on the rare occassions i fall asleep to be woken up by.......MYSELF!!

treedelivery · 01/01/2009 17:21

Am having a pregant nutter day.

Went off to hospital as heard nothing from bubbs at all, and has been much quiter last few days as well. Had monitoring and that was grand so she's still doing good in there!

Then came home and started to tidy up after paaaarty, and [sory about tmi] had THE biggest, er, bowel event EVER.

DH gone off to find a plunger Comedy value aside I cried, shook, and was generally bit wobbly for half hour after! The had total melt down as our dd1 has had constipation for 3 years and I had awful feelings of guilt and responsibilty about what she must have gone through on her potty.

She has asked to stay at nana's [spent day in woods pretending to be a deer and looking for badgers etc so don't blame her].

Feel really bonkers today!

fymandbean · 01/01/2009 17:42

ps moose - if you have the same thing as me you WILL need antibiotics - I'm now on my 22nd day with this awful bloody virus.... it started with a sore throat, then bronchitis, then infected sinuses, high blood pressure....

hope you get better sooner than me!

Ta love.

Just feel very srained and drained and well, bonkers.

Go completely awol when think about dd and her constipation. All hormones and anxiety oozing out I guess. Turns out work and money worries and redundancy has it's affect afterall. Wierd what triggers the melt down though - POO!!!!

def comedy value.
