It'll be an alternative merry Christmas for us this year ;)

Rubysmom - that must be scary. I hope you are ok now, but maybe it would be a good idea to go to a&e just to be sure?

Restless legs is a real annoyance isn't it? I usually get it just before I go to bed inthe evenings, and then it lasts for a couple of hours - think it drives DH mad too!

It was our scan today, everything is fine. We didn't find out what we're having, all we know is that it's a very active baby - even though I can feel hardly any movement because of the placenta in the way. According to the last scan I'm 20 weeks today, but all the measurements done today suggest that the baby is measuring 19+4 or 5, which fits in with my original date. So no idea when this LO will arrive! DD (nearly 21 months)came with us, she was quite excited to begin with, but then got a bit spooked by all the prodding and just wanted to cuddle me.

detsy · 19/12/2008 23:21

Congrats to all on good scans and general excitement. There seems to be a lot of little baby boys due on this thread, I wonder if it will end up 50/50 in May?

I'm away to bed with my book and Nesquik - DP out with the boys and I know he will make a huge racket when he comes in and like someone else mentioned will smell of beer and kebabs and be snoring his head off in a demi second. Have texted and told him to sleep on the top floor

My skin is super dry - look like a pinkish/white lizard. I'm using the mamamio body cream which is really lovely. But my arms were so itchy and dry the night before I just reached out and slathered on a dollop of DD's oilatum which was in reach on bedside cabinet - hence v greasy arm!

Rubysmom hope you are feeling better and have been checked out

flippineck it amazes me that the little DC get perturbed by scans, BP tests etc - Lottie gets really upset almost like she's trying to protect me, bless her.

Sleep tight all, talk soon

SpangleMaker · 20/12/2008 11:47

Hi all! not been on for a few days as mega-busy with work, getting up before 6am all week, travelling up & down the country, delayed/cancelled trains, meetings/presentation etc - BUT - I'm now finished for Christmas - woohoo!!

Congrats to those who've had scans.

Cote congrats on your amnio all-clear, you can relax for Christmas now!

Rubysmom if the baby's kicking & bleeding's stopped it's very likely all fine, but like the others have said, it's better to get checked out. Hope you are ok today.

Re sleeping - I've actually been sleeping longer & better post 12 weeks or thereabouts. Up to then I was tired all the time but frustratingly couldn't sleep well at night. Feel much better now, more perky in the day & sleeping soundly at night (apart from the wee stops).

Is anyone else snoring? The last couple of nights DH's come to bed to find me snoring. Last night he tried to shut me up rather sweetly by kissing me, but since he'd drunk 1/2 bottle of wine, I was shocked awake by vile, stale alcohol fumes in my face - nice. Bless him, he meant well though!

SpangleMaker · 20/12/2008 15:26

ooh detsy thanks for sending the top - I just discovered it by the back door where the postie had left it at some point without leaving a note (grr - must be these new speed-walking regulations the Post Office have introduced). Thanks for the card too. How exciting to get a card to 'Tolly'!!

detsy · 20/12/2008 17:08

glad it arrived - hope it was ok to put Tolly on the card as a little nickname for baby to be

llareggub · 20/12/2008 18:47

Ooh ooh ooh! Are you going for Ptolemy then? DH will be wildly jealous as he LOVES this name.

LoobyLou36 · 20/12/2008 22:07

Evening Ladies. Hope you are all well. Went shopping today and ended up visiting a pram shop with DH. I think he enjoyed having a try out more than me ...men and wheels, lol

It was a real eye opener, so many different styles, and also some of the prices were a bit of a shock. Have decided on a three wheeler as more suitable for our needs and have chosen a quinny buzz. Not going to buy new tho - can't afford it.

Re: sleeping, I've been sleeping alot better too and seem to have alot more energy during the day.

I'm also very ill. Spent most of yesterday in bed, feeling sorry for myself. Sore throat, sinusitis, coughing - I have it all. Paracetamol doesn't seem to be doing anything

FiKelly · 21/12/2008 08:36

cote i'm exactly the same.. was really hoping the doc would give me anti-biotics like ds.. I'll be lucky to be any better for xmas day at this rate. seeing consultant tuesday am and having 20wk scan.. hope cough eases enough for me to talk birth plan without wetting myself!

ds had to start amoxycillin last night he was in a really bad way. coughing so much he couldn't breathe, shaking and streaming nose. v scary for us all. happy to say he's breathing easier today and has had a better night after the medicine.

morning all.
Hope you're all feeling better soon. try to get lots of rest (if that's possible!).

i'm ok except for a bit of heartburn (mint chewing gum helping). but dd1 has had a temp since yesterday evening. she hasn't got out of bed today and the only thing down her mouth was the nurofen. bless her.

got to get some work done. work from home isn't going well recently as I don't feel like working! too tired by end of the day and during the day, too many distractions.

CoteDAzur · 21/12/2008 11:08

I have been eating only soup and tangerines for two days now. Drinking honey & lemon in hot water, as well.

I'm supposed to go shopping to cook Christmas dinner for 6 people I can't even get out of bed to take a shower...

FiKelly · 21/12/2008 11:30

I normally cook full works xmas dinner for my parents and us too. luckily we decided to give me a year off as didn't fancy slaving over a hot oven with my bump in the way.. we're all going out somewhere posh for xmas day lunch.. just hoping me and ds will be fit enough to go.

trying to rest and luckily a friend from belgium arrived on friday and is staying for 10 days.. extra pair of hands to help keep ds occupied and make me hot drinks.. saving dh from having to take extra time off work.

My friend had a little girl last night after a very quick labour 8pounds 11oz born an hour after her due date ended. I'm going to visit tomorrow for some baby sniffing.

FiKelly · 21/12/2008 15:32

great to hear mum and baby are well.. hope you get some sneaky cuddles too

FiKelly · 21/12/2008 23:40

not sure it's just xmas.. so many of us are down with the grotty lurg.. i'm still up as i'm having another session of relentless coughing

OP posts:
MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 22/12/2008 10:46

anyone know anything i cant take for this stupid cough? had it bout 3-4wks now and its driving me mad!!!

EmmalinaC · 22/12/2008 10:53

Hello all, sorry to hear so many of you are still poorly.

M&BM I don't think there's anything you can take at all. Steam inhalation might help?

Hope everyone else had good weekend? DD and I went to stay with my parents while DH got on with some DIY - he has laid a beautiful solid oak floor in our living room. I am so proud of him! Now that's done we can really start getting ready for Christmas. Just bought a tree!

LoobyLou36 · 22/12/2008 11:01

Morning Ladies

We've finally finished the xmas shopping

Don't have to cook xmas day cos we're off to the PIL. Going to see SIL baby for the first time, hopefully won't have another rendition of birth story, cracked nipples etc around the dinner table.
We've bought a pram! Bit soon I think but couldn't resist a bargain. Got it off ebay (Quinny Buzz System only 1 Year Old).

Trouble is we have to store it at our house I think as both my parents smoke like chimneys and we don't want it back stinking. Bad Luck?? Any thoughts/opinions?

1stMrsF · 22/12/2008 11:55

Hello

I have read to catch up, but did that last night and can't remember anything, so sorry for not commenting, and get well soon to all.

LoubyLou well done on purchasing! I think you should just put it in your own house. My view on this is that if something goes wrong, it's not going to be because you bought a pushchair and if you have got everything at home it will be easier for when you bring baby home.

I really wanted to do lots of things today - some cooking, some wrapping, some last minute shopping etc. but I feel sick (at 19 weeks! When is it going to end?) so currently just sipping water and MNing hoping it will pass before DH comes home from work and asks why the house looks exactly the same as when he left...

pulapula · 22/12/2008 12:04

Loobylou- I am not supersticious so dont have a problem having baby things around the house before the happy event. I wouldnt worry. I always get the nesting bug early and have to whinge to DH to get nursery ready. With my DD (1st) I had to have the nursery ready and a few items of clothing hanging in the wardrobe which Id go and look at every now and again! Once i know what this baby will be (6 Jan) i'll be out buying some newborn clothing!

We had some good news at the weekend- my SIL (brothers wife) is expecting her first baby- due 1 July! This will be the first cousin for my DCs on my side of the family so very exciting. Its a really difficult time though- my sister is having IVF implantation today so then has the dreaded 2WW to see if she is pg. My SIL is waiting until after the 2WW to tell my sister, but this could be really hard for my sister if the IVF doesnt work.

LoobyLou36 · 22/12/2008 12:16

pulapula that's tough on your sis. My cousin had IVF twice, the second cycle worked and she had a lovely little girl. As an added bonus just as she finished her maternity leave she found she was pregnant again , this time naturally . Her hubby said it was the best BOGOF they'd ever had.

LoobyLou36 · 22/12/2008 12:19

pulapula I can't wait to see my purchase, it should arrive wednesday. I have a few babygrows etc handed down from SIL and have bought various bits like babybath, wipes, sudocreme, etc when I've seen them on offer. Also bought really cute cot bedding off ebay. I'm prob so excited cos this is my first.
