pula Just realised that I was sub-conciously doing pelvic floor excersizes then whilst reading your post hee hee

Momino · 16/12/2008 22:23

pula, i wet myself in the night a month or so ago and panicked as I though my waters broke. once I realised i'd wet myself i've started doing pelvic floor exc which has improved a bit but still need to strengthen a bit more.

it's hard work!

JennstarOfWonder · 16/12/2008 22:44

Hi folks. I've my scan tomorrow at 11 and an iron injection afterwards. Been taking Ferrograd erratically because it's given me such bad diarrhoea, so just bought some Floradix to see if that is any better. Not a massive dose though so might not be enough.

Off to bed now. Absolutely knackered.

Oh and who is it who knows about redundancy an maternity pay rights? Might need some advice.

JennstarOfWonder · 16/12/2008 22:44

Forgot to say please to that last question.

morning all.
Jenn, I think it depends on when your redundancy starts in comparison with your EDD. 3 yrs ago I took vol redundancy in the middle of my maternity leave and the company were obliged to pay rest of maternity pay along with redundancy payment.

when do you think redundancy could happen?

Morning ladies hope you are all feeling well.

I can't wait to finish for xmas. Normally I don't like time off at this time of year think I'm more tired now, although I've got alot more energy than I did a month ago.

Re: pelvic floor. I only remember to do the exercises when someone on here mentions it -oops!

FiKelly · 17/12/2008 11:00

ds worried us last night. he woke himself coughing so bad he was struggling to breathe and panicked himself managed to calm him and after a dose of medicine he was lot better. wish i could say same about me .. i got v little sleep due to my coughing and had to sit up in bed to get any sleep. just back from doc's with a prescription for ds but he didn't want to give me one. shame as i'm worse with lurg than ds.

glad your amnio went well cote

really going to have to do pelvic exercises as all my coughing shows how badly i need them.

fi, hope ds is better today and you try to get some rest if poss today.

I'd better get to work as it's piling up but all i'm doing is MNetting and christmas shopping online.

delightedoldbag34 · 17/12/2008 13:16

Cote - take it easy after your amnio! Sorry to hear yours was painful again - I remember my first one being awful but the one I had a couple of wks ago was only very mildly uncomfortable, if that. I guess it just depends on the experience of the operator and perhaps the particular bit of muscle they put the needle into? I don't know but my two experiences of the same procedure have been markedly different but then they have been 8 yrs apart and also in different hospitals. Anyway, have a lovely quiet day and fingers crossed for excellent results.
(oh and congrats on your boy.....there seem to be a few of us now on here having little boys!) Can't wait!
Take care x

EmmalinaC · 17/12/2008 13:20

Hello everyone

Cote glad to hear you're relaxed and everything went ok. Fingers crossed for results.

Fi I'm having the same coughing/leaking problem as you.

I had an appointment with my consultant today and she was lovely - really seemed to care how I'm feeling and wanted me to enjoy this pregnancy. (Starting to think female docs definitely have better bedside manner!). We talked about delivery and she said it was entirely up to me. She also told me that chance of a successful VBAC is only 50-70% - I thought it was higher than that - so I will probably go for an elective c-section. As they do it at 39 weeks that would be 26th April. Does that mean I have to join the April antenatal thread? I want to stay here!

Ooooh and I got Gaviscon free on prescription - wish I'd known that last time. I spent a fortune on the damn stuff.

LoobyLou36 · 17/12/2008 13:39

I managed to get gaviscon free on prescription too - got a huge bottle!

Anyone here have any experience of a Maxi Cosi Speedi, Dreami and City Travel System?
My MIL keeps asking when we are gonna buy a pram (she's offered to pay). I don't want to get one too soon in case its bad luck. But have spotted one I quite like on ebay and it seems a bargain.

Momino · 17/12/2008 15:19

am 20+5 and can't touch my toes anymore! it feels a bit early for this to happen, but it is my 3rd, I suppose. sigh. pregnancy can be comical.

MrsEvs · 17/12/2008 15:45

Mum and Dad fly in from England today for Christmas - can't wait

Am really supposed to be tidying the house in preparation but am sitting at my computer instead! Must get motivated.

Glad amnio was OK if painful Cote - fingers crossed for the results.

divedaisy · 17/12/2008 15:54

Hi gals - found you all!

I too had very bad weeing when I had a cough a few weeks ago - i was so fed up that every time I felt a coughing fit come on I'd run to the loo to cough sitting on it!!!

I'm in the same club as a few of you regarding our DHs lack of christmas input! My dh hasn't purchased a thing for ds and when I showed him what I had got he was more interested in brushing his teeth. If we wern't going away for Christmas it would be left up to me to get the food etc in also. He only ever puts the tree up - and by that I mean he only ever sticks it into the stand and then holds it upright while i get underneath it and screw it tight. His lack of enthusiasm is draining. Thank god DS makes up for it with his excitment. He stood outside our front door this morning and shouted to all that could hear him 'I'm excited for Christmas!' over and over!! Than I took him to the GPs for his second flu jab... big tears this time...

LoobyLou36 - be careful of what you buy on ebay - check out the seller!

Hi everone, sorry to hear that we are all coughing so badly. I seem to have escaped the lurgies with no more than a snotty nose, long may it continue.

Sitting at my desk at work and one of the babies is kicking me really hard just below my belly button! It's very strange because in under a week it's gone from vague moving about feelings to full on kicking and pushing - they must be starting to fight for space in there!

divedaisy · 17/12/2008 16:55

I've been getting loads of movement over the past number of weeks. I even watched it move about a while ago, but haven't since. DS & DH still cant feel it. It must be sitting very low at the mo cos I've a real pain in my right side - like a stitch.

MissyK and SweetBroody - if you (Or anyone else who reads this) fancies a stay in Bansko, Bulgaria please let me know here is our apartment we rent out, and some info about the place too.

pulapula · 17/12/2008 18:24

Cote- thanks for the advice. I saw a physio after my first delivery, and used the electronic pulse probe thingy for 6 months, which was partly why the consultant agreed to an elective last time. I will definitely mention it to my MW but am trying to remember to do my exercises (doing them now)

llareggub · 17/12/2008 19:44

Jenn do you have a specific question about maternity and redundancy? There is special protection that applies to women on maternity leave in a redundancy situation. Happy to talk more if you want. I work in HR in (unfortunately) this area.

I had a very embarrassing experience at work today. I was just about to give a presentation to a group of senior managers when I came over all hot, sick and dizzy. I had to run out of the room and felt too ill to continue. Felt very flaky indeed. My blood sugars have been really high so my diabetes nurse wonders if I have a bug rather than it being pregnancy related, as the bug can increase blood sugar. Could be, but at least I had a couple of hours off work to recover!

JosieC · 18/12/2008 00:32

thanks everyone for your messages - i've been checking it out on the internet too and i think it seems quite normal to have to get prodded about quite hard so they can get a good view. the sonographer wasn't very friendly either so it just put me out a bit but am feeling fine now! SpangleMaker I was quite keen on a girl too before finding out - my mum died earlier this year so I think I was hoping to recreate a mother-daughter relationship, but knowing all seemed healthy on the scan and then seeing all the cute boys clothes and i'm really excited now! good luck to everyone else with scans coming up - time seems to have gone so quickly!

JennstarOfWonder · 18/12/2008 07:49

Thanks Llagrub. Basically, I've been offered voluntary redundancy. It would be March, and I'm due to start my maternity leave in the middle of April. I've been with the company 9 1/2 years. The maternity pay is the basic. 12 weeks at 90%, and then the normal weekly rate. I'm just trying to work out whether it would be worth my while taking redundancy, and becoming a locum when sm leave finishes (although I would have to go back early because all my holiday for the year gives me 6 more weeks off) or stick with the company. What they are offering me as an alternative is basically being a locum anyway, for a lot less money, but for a lot less aggravation re being self employed, pension, sick pay etc.

Ok that's a bit complicated. I'm going to start a thread and link in a minute.
