Here

JennstarOfWonder · 18/12/2008 07:57

Josie, I got prodded quite a bit yesterday. Baby was fidgeting and didn't want to stay still long enough for sonographer to get the third view of the spine. She mentioned it was more difficult when the tummy muscles were tense. I realised I was all hunched up and so took a deep breathe and relaxed and suddenly it was a lot less uncomfortable. I know this is too late for you but may be useful for anybody else!

Momino · 18/12/2008 08:59

Jenn, hope you get some answers on your thread, it's a difficult choice and situation.

when i was offered vol redundancy, I was 4 mos into maternity leave. After I accepted, company paid the rest of my maternity leave (I'd been there 7 years) as well as the redundancy payment.

it did cause me hassle when I needed to find a job part time and could only get rubbish pay, but i'm glad i left that job as i wasn't crazy about it and the company. luckily the redundancy payment has been funding me having a part time job.

lots to think about, take your time and ask lots of questions (as you are).

bantam73 · 18/12/2008 09:00

Morning everyone

Glad to hear so many of you have had good scans and sorry to hear about everyone's coughs and sneezes.

We've got our scan this afternoon, DD2 (just turned 3y) is excited about seeing it on t.v again.
We won't be finding out the sex. It's never crossed our minds to find out, we like the guessing and the surprise of what it is after the pain of birth, you forget the pain then and start the planning and laughing about who was wrong at their predition.

I'd like a boy cos we have 2 girls already but if it's another girl it's a good excuse to have another try for a boy next time!!!!!!

Momino · 18/12/2008 09:51

it's not too early for a cheese and piccalilli sandwich, is it ?

Momino · 18/12/2008 09:59

bantam, we're in the same situation. dd1 turns 3 tomorrow (!) and dd2 is 16 months. how old is your dd2? are we on the same baby schedule ? But, I don't think we'll be going for a 4th even if we do have another girl!

we (esp me) are hoping for a boy, didn't find out at the scan but now I wish I had done as i so want a boy I don't want to be disappointed if it's a girl (highly likely). that sounds terrible i know, but also know i'm saying it lightly as I'll forget any 'disappointment' as soon as baby is in my arms. happy sigh.

good luck with your scan and can't wait to hear about it!

bantam73 · 18/12/2008 10:50

Hi Momino,

DD1 is 17 years on new years day
DD2 just turned 3

There is a 14 year gap due to me been a naughty teen and been single for 12 years before meeting the man of my dreams and geting married 10 months after meeting.

I'm not saying that we will have another baby after this one but I don't like saying this is the last 1, the end, ect.
Plus you don't know whats round the corner, 6+years ago I said 'I'd never get married/meet someone let alone have more kids. I'd always be single.' Then I turned a corner and meet my husband 1 night and the rest is history.

That sounds really sad

delightedoldbag34 · 18/12/2008 11:10

Aaah bantam that's such a lovely story
Just like a fairytale!
(not sad at all)

Momino · 18/12/2008 16:22

bantam, your story made me after a hard day's work!

divedaisy · 18/12/2008 17:00

Oh bantam73 - such a dream!!
I'd love another wee'un, but when this one arrives I'll have turned 40 (March) so unless it happenes really quickly (and who post birth has the energy, body or interest??? Oh yeh Victoria Beckham!!) it'll not happen. Anyway, after having a horrendous time with PND last time I really am luck DH said yes to trying again - I nearly drove him to dispair. In fact, no nearly about it - he couldn't take it again, and I have no recollection of it really... my mind has blocked it all out (as well as being high on medication at the time too helped!)

SesHasnearlyreachedhalfway · 18/12/2008 21:03

Hi all! Must be at least a month since I posted on here - sorry

Have spent most of that time ill - was in bed with flu. I had a really high temperature and hardly got out of bed for a week. Also couldn't keep any food in me and lost half a stone. Thankfully am getting back to normal now and just feel like I have the dregs of a cold.

Haven't managed to keep track of all the goings on on here
Hope everyone's doing ok though and I'll try and keep up to date now...!

divedaisy · 18/12/2008 21:20

Good grief - i do believe we've slowed up! This thread isn't moving as fast as our previous ones!! Probably all out doing last minute shopping!

I'm really feeling 'proper' movements now. DH felt a big kick last night so now he's involved (as much as any man can be... ) They are very low down near my appendix scar!

I am absolutely knackered, but I'm watching 'The Millies' on Sky - great to see the services getting awarded & recognition. DH is out on another work's Christmas function. he got the train into the city at 3:30pm... and the club they're headng to closes around 2am - the thought of him coming home at 3am doesn't appeal to me. If I had the foresight I'd have sorted out the spare room for him.. as it is I'll have to wear the gas mask to prevent inhaling his fumes and ear plugs so as not to hear him coming in 'quietly'!!!

runningmonkey - sorry to hear your news. Even after a long illness, when death should be a relief, it still hurts and the emptiness can be surprising.

get it all off your chest Fi!!! LOL!!!

divedaisy · 18/12/2008 21:26

Oh I think I'll grab a cuppa tea and get to bed with my book... nitey nite

flippineck · 18/12/2008 21:54

Divedaisy - you can't go, I was going to ask you a question or two about skiing!! DH and I used the go quite often (Andorra and Austria mostly) but since the whole baby thing (couple of mcs, DD arriving) we've not done any. What age did you start taking your DS, and what's Bulgaria like? Always looks good value, but we've never been.

All fine here now, DD and I have got over our colds and DH seems to have escaped it, luckily. I'm starting to look quite pregnant now!

20 week scan tomorrow - eek, and yay!

Febes · 18/12/2008 21:58

20 weeks tomorrow too!! I'm on holiday for next 2 weeks now. Thankgoodness!!

divedaisy · 18/12/2008 22:19

Oh I'm still here... to lazy to get off to bed!
flippineck - i've never skiied - i would have been trying it this trip out but can't now i'm preg!! this will be ds first time at ski school. he'll be 6 in a few weeks. i'll let you know how he gets on. Bansko is a new resort which is being constantly developed. there is now 70kn of ski runs, with more coming as well as new gondolas and ski run links to other resorts. My hubby and his mates have skiied there over the past 2 years and they keep going back for more. So it must be good! The investments being pumped into the area is amazing. they even had a bid in for the winter olympics 2014 (i think) but didn't get it, however they are still after it for another year!
We all enjoy Bulgarian hospitality. The food is great and well priced. Even with the way the Euro:£ is going I'd say you could still eat out well for 2 adults and 1 child, 3 courses with drinks and wine for around £20-£25 at the most. also the spa treatments are fantastically priced and just wonderful - that;s what i;ll be indulging in! Sheer bliss...

Yeh Febes - 20 weeks!!!! Half way now!

OK Ladies, I AM away to bed...Right... NOW!
(chanting to oneself to turn the laptop off, turn the laptop off...!)

llareggub · 18/12/2008 22:23

Flippineck good name! I used to teach ski school to a group of under 5s at a dry ski slope. I'd take them from when they could walk comfortably in boots and skis without me having to carry them! Most children were fine at 3, and were able to master snowplough, stopping and the like. I never taught beyond beginner level, so can't tell you how they progressed!

There are several snowdomes around the country, and I'd recommend taking your little one to one of these for a taster session. Children take to skiing really well and it is a great sport for families to do together. I can't wait to take DS and this baby!

Off to bed now, night all.

SesHasnearlyreachedhalfway · 18/12/2008 22:23

flippineck - hope all goes well tomorrow with your scan Mine's on Mon 29th and I'm kind of looking forward to it but apprehensive at the same time.

llareggub · 18/12/2008 22:24

Oh, and have a look at kinderhotels. I'd recommend them. We only ever skied in Austria so I've no real experience of Bulgaria and the like, but have heard good reports.

pulapula · 18/12/2008 22:27

Evening all,

Last day in work today until Tues 6 (scan day!). Feels nice.

Off to bed now. Night night all.

detsy · 18/12/2008 22:28

Aw Divedaisy you can't say that about a 3rd baby at your age. (Tho of course I understand about your PND)

I'll be 41 when Pip is born and have already started thinking that I don't want this pgncy to be my last pgncy - weird I guess but thats just the way I am. By this stage (and I'm a day behind you! ) I love being pregnant. I think it is just so amazing - quite sci fi really if you think about it in detail - 2 blobs of gunk make a whole new person!

I'm on hols now also for 2 weeks - so pleased to put work behind me for a bit and have fun playing with DD

V excited about scan on Tuesday. Getting wriggles often and had one big kick.
