lucasnorth · 12/12/2008 17:05

Sorry, original title.

Anyway, hello everyone, I'm due 6th July (although no scan yet, so date will probably move). Excited but knackered and queasy so far, although having read (some!) of the last thread I've got off pretty easily so far.

Hello all!

lizzie hope you are feeling better soon, I know how hard it is but you sound like a very strong person xxx

Won't be around much over the next 2 weeks as we are off on the xmas jaunts!! Starting tomorrow with a 4 hour drive to visit my mum and dad, then in a week, a 5 hour drive from my parents to mil and fil's!!

Can't believe I am now 10 weeks, got my scan on the 7th Jan. My friend is coming with me and DD as hubby can't get out of work.

Merry Xmas and Best Wishes to all!!

xxx

christmasiana · 20/12/2008 17:18

hello everyone!

scully i can't believe it's so hot there. wow. i lived in kenya when pg with DD and there was a very hot drought, i remember feeling pretty sick with it and the bright sun just sometimes used to make one worse!

i had DD's birthday party today. went really well. was up at 6.30 making pink buttercream icing (barf) and doing DD's cake. bought very cute pink sprinkles and things and was standing throwing the sprinkles at all anglss so they would stick to the side of the cake at 7am, still completely dark outside, feeling sick and wondering what the hell am i doing!

my famous mother.... who had requested that the party be moved from a lunch thing to a morning do starting at 11am... turned up at MIDDAY... so an hour late... saying 'sorry i had to fill the car up with petrol' ... i was just about to serve the cake...

got EXCELLENT news yesterday that one of my very best friend who's been ttc for AGES is due 3 days before me! so brilliant.

hobnob and queenfee we've got our flights tomorrow from edinburgh to amsterdam to stuttgart.... wish us your best travel wishes! DD got a cute little rucksack and some binoculars to help pass the journey...

LargeGlassofRed · 21/12/2008 00:07

sorry haven't been on here much, been an awful week.
Ex really pulling out all the punches
Saw a solicitor on friday who was very good and reasuring, but going to cost me a fortune to fight him.
Also in all likelehood will have to sell the house
Have my 12 week scan on monday, I am so scared keep thinking about vanishing twin or other problems, been counting the hours till the scan.

Sorry really gloomy post.

On the upside the kids are off broken up, yeah!
no more school run for two weeks and we've all been invited to dp's house for christmas lunch so his mum is doing all the cooking! double yeah!

christmasiana · 21/12/2008 10:34

so sorry LGOR sounds like you are having a really stressful time. STAY STRONG AND BRIGHT! poor you i can't believe you'll have to sell house. what a nightmare.

am sure scan will be fine. good luck for it and for everyone else's.

am off now for a week, hope i can log on from germany, but if not merry christmas to all!

wish me luck - dd still ill and feverish, DH's flu has descended into bad tummy too... it's going to be an interesting journey... i am doing all the packing and lining up the cases by the door. am knackered already!

Mij · 21/12/2008 13:37

Hello everyone, haven't been heard for ages and now so behind just gave up on trying to catch up.

Had scan on Friday - 11 weeks to the day so my EDD now 10 July. Student did it so the pic looks like one of DDs small stretchy rubbery creatues! But still - she had to chase it round a bit, strangely reassured to see such a wriggler after an early scare.

Weirdly have stopped feeling so hungry and nauseous but have started throwing up with almost no warning. Not often, less than once a day, but it's caught me a bit off guard.

Anyone else told their DCs? I'd shown DD a couple of photos of me pregnant with her as preparation, and when we told her she was very smiley but, as expected, very quickly moved on to bouncing on the bed, so it hardly rocked her universe.

Happy Christmas to everyone

Mij · 21/12/2008 14:19

Sorry, that's here for ages...

QueenFeeUntoUsAChildIsBorn · 21/12/2008 18:47

I have told my dc's - DS not really interested as only 2 but dd is VERY interested! She came out of school on friday and asked where the baby was! Cue a long explanation from me as to how long it was going to be. However it has also promtedsome really sweet comments too about looking after the baby etc (apparently she is perfectly happy and capable of looking after the baby in the night for me!)
Merry Christmas Christiana.
lgor sorry to hear that hope he realises soon its going to cost him loads and backs off x

Belgrano · 21/12/2008 19:39

I have finally got a date! 8th Jan is my nuchal fold blood test and scan. It's £200 which is always a bit of a biter, specially right after Christmas but that's all you get round here till 20 weeks so I am very excited.
Happy Christmas to those of you who are driving off soon. HOpe some of you are sticking around for a while to natter.
LGOR - sorry to hear about your nightmare. Good luck and I hope all goes as smoothly as it can.

Misspaella · 21/12/2008 19:47

Evening
Hobnob glad u survived your flight - don't even think about the journey back yet and enjoy your holiday! Hope you're feeling better about things too.

LGOR what an as*&$le!!!! Easy to say don't get stressed but try not to. Good luck for your scan tomorrow.

Mij aren't you relieved to have had your scan and all is good? Now it is time to sit back and enjoy the pg (ha ha ha, sitback when you have other DC's that is....)

I have had a bit of a ms setback and was badly ill on Th and Fri. I missed my night out with the local mom's which was annoying as I have NO LIFE - well, seems it anyway. At least I didn't have to pretend to drink or dodge any questions.. I am also really really tired again. Could be that I haven't had my lunchtime catnap over the last couple of days.

On a positive note Christmas is almost here. YAH!!!

woollyjo · 21/12/2008 20:44

dd's second birthday tomorrow and my dating scan here's hoping it is smiles all round should be 12 weeks +

scully · 21/12/2008 23:52

Hope the scans go well Woollyjo & LGOR What crap timing for your ex to get nasty LGOR, that's all you need, in your first trimester and at Xmas as well
Merry Chistmas Christiana, hope your journey isn't too eventful
We only have to drive about 20min on Xmas day, to my stepsister's place for lunch. As it's also dd2's 3rd bday we'll have morning at home, making a big deal of her bday and letting both dd's play with their toys.
Know what you mean about missing naps Misspaella, I've had to have a lie down at some point during the day these last couple of weeks, the tiredness and nausea are just too much. I'm 11wks today so hoping that I'm not feeling like this for too much longer.
Hi to everyone else

BonzoDoodah · 22/12/2008 00:33

Wow Hobnob - I'm in awe of your journey and how you survived. Safe journey home again!

BonzoDoodah · 22/12/2008 00:43

Oh - just catching up on all this (4 pages - eek) ... people were talking about peanuts and what to eat. I've decided to eat peanuts while pregnant. I'd read that in countries where they eat peanuts all the time ( like Indonesia and was it Israel?) they have hardly any incidence of allergies. Also - the advice on the rise of childhood alergies has been blamed on houses being too clean (no chance of that here - SNORT!) and children are not getting exposed to the alergens. Then they say - to avoid peanut allergies don't give your children peanuts until they are 4 years old!?? How does that work then?
So I decided the safest place for baby to get exposed to them is in the womb and in breastmilk where the body will see it as "normal safe stuff". (BF DD eating peanuts til 16M and counting). Then I read (more) that they're now advising people to eat peanuts in pregnancy - although my midwife told me not to. I think they need to do more research but also get more up-to-date info to midwives.

Just went looking and found THIS PEANUT ADVICE DEC 2008 which concludes ... Some research has suggested that early exposure could prevent allergies developing, because the body's immune system is "primed" to accept a substance.

woo hoo!

Baffy · 22/12/2008 10:57

Just a quick hello from me

hobnob your posts always make me Glad the journey was worth it in the end!

LGOR do let us know how the scan goes.

christmasiana - good luck for the journey.

I'm having a paranoid few days. My scan was great, but as I was only 10 and a half weeks, and don't have another one until 20 weeks, I'm so paranoid. How do I know the lo is ok? Am I still ok to tell everyone at 12 weeks (i.e. this week!) when I don't actually know it's still ok??

H keeps saying I'm being morbid and negative. But I can't help it! Is there anything at all I could do to reassure myself?

I feel like a big bag of raging hormones at the moment and don't know what to do for the best!!

How many weeks is it once the MW can start to hear the heartbeat??

hobnob57 · 22/12/2008 12:11

We tried the tesco's make your own rudolph bauble yesterday - they only supplied one eye! It's already a family heirloom....

Good luck woolyjo and LGOR today!

london11 · 22/12/2008 16:05

Congrats on the twins london

Am really excited about my scan at midday tomorrow although sort of nervous too IYKWIM?

Now seriously wondering if its twins as I am sure we have a higher than average rate of them on here At a rough calculation (boring I know I just have that kind of mind!) We are running at about 10/11% of pregnancies are twins compared to the national average of 3%

Will update you tomorrow
