Can anymore remember (fingers crossed) which thread all the lists for hospital bags were posted on please? Might actually attempt to pack my bag tomo or at least write a list. . . .

theyoungvisiter · 01/12/2008 17:35

oh huge congratulations chutney!!

Re how do you know if you are in labour - I was told it's labour if the contractions are getting longer, stronger and closer together. If they are not then it's not labour, probably just false labour or pre-labour. But that's not very helpful in telling you if you need to get to hospital! My lovely NCT teacher last time round (who was also a midwife) was a bit vague bit also said "very few women get it wrong" - so perhaps the cliche that you "just know" is right.

And following on from other thread, yes, I'm still co-feeding, it's fine so far but haven't tried to do true double feeding yet, at the moment I'm just timing it so I feed DS2 and then DS1, which is fairly easy as DS1 only feeds once or twice a day and then only for a few minutes so it's not like trying to co-ordinate two very small children. I'll keep you posted

Ooh Diagnosis Murder fantastic telly now you only need to really start worrying when you sky+ it.

We got our tree at the weekend but it is not going up for a while yet. Our local garden center had 20% off this wkend so we took advantage of the offer but it is now residing outside in its stand drinking full fat coke to keep it happy.

HI kerri do join us we are in the midst of moaning about the last few wks so the more the merrier.

I too am having the one day can defo feel the baby very low down then by the next day it appears to be attempting to climb up my ribs.

Well I have done the sum total of sweet FA today. Took DS to his toddler yoga this morning and then this afternoon have surfed MN watched the telly and my mum phoned for an hour and half. I am such a bad mummy poor Archie has watched telly all arvo. He is currently playing in the curtains with the dog.

Veggiemummy · 01/12/2008 17:52

hey Kayz, i'm going to assume cat has watched MoTD by now, how good was the game last night. I suggested Robin as a name to DH, but he said if we do that they will then go and sell him.

They were brilliant!! Yeah I did that and then Freddie left!!
My brother supports Chelsea and he was going on about how we were going to lose. I was so happy to be texting him and gloating!!

simmo14 · 01/12/2008 17:58

Congrats Chutney.
Emmanbump- never done a link but was just lloking for the old thread myself so have copied and pasted it. It is from Jaminmy wellies. Hope it gives you some ideas.

Ok girls I said I would do this ages ago but never got round to it. But seeing as there is so much talk on hospital bags here is the ridicularse amount of stuff I took into hospital with DS.

toiletries, this had every item you could possibly imagine ever using on your body creams oils.....

hair Straighteners & hairdryer

Breast pads, maternity pads, breast pump, eye mask, ear plugs, hair bobbles, various hair brushes.

Ipod & charger

Mobile phone & charger

book, magazine, puzzle book, notepad, pen, pencil, pack of playing cards.

2 nighties
2pjamas
2 nursing bras
bath & hand towel
dressing gown
10 pairs of knickers
going home clothes
pillow
crocs or flipflops

snacks and drinks had enough to stock a corner shop.

wallet & cash

Babies bag

10 nappies
sudocream & vaseline
wipes
cotton wool
going home outfit
3 vests
3 babygrows
blanket
socks
beanie hat
baby towel

I cannot believe I had soo much stuff, imagine hairdryer and straighteners plus pack of playing cards I mean really if I had the ability to have a game of cards then am sure you are not in proper labour I had one massive wkend bag and small wheelie suitcase.

This time I will be taking.

small toiletries bag might include some tinted moisturiser and benetint.

hairbobble and hair band

Ipod, mobile phone, camera, change for patient line.

2 nighties one for giving birth in one emergency one. dressing gown

Crocs or flipflops

Going home outfit trackie bots and nursing t-shirt.

4 pairs of knickers.

Pillow

Bath & hand towel.

Couple of large bottles of water and dextrose sweeties.

Babies Bag.

4 nappies

tub of vaseline

cotton wool

2 vests

2 babygrows

swaddling blanket

warm cardigan

beanie hat.

Make sure you take plenty maternity pads, I found my post bleeding quite heavy and changed v frequently.

Just remember your partner can pop home and get you anything else you need there is no need to take the kitchen sink with you. Think about maybe splitting your stuff in to a labour bag and a post labour bag.

Cat I am sooooo jealous!!!!!!!! I haven't had chance to go to the Emirates yet. Whenever we go to London we have to much planned to get there. The train goes right past it too. I do have some good pics from when we went in April.

Gallas may be a bit silly but he looked really good when he took his shirt off at the end.

Beans33 · 01/12/2008 18:04

Hi all

Just been for NCT tea, which was lovely. I've really lucked out with the girls on that - they're so friendly and fun and we giggle about sex and nipples and sore fannies etc - nice and normal and basic for me! Such fun. They all think I'm going to have a girl and that I'm going to be next to have my baby - eeeek!

Now have rather an upset tummy after my hot chocolate. Oh dear.

I also bought some raspberry leaf fluid extract from Fresh n Wild on the way home - I'm going to have 2 pipettes full a day in a bit of water and see if it brings anything on. This poor baby - feel like I'm forcing it out!

I love this site - we all just sit around and gossip, don't we? It's great fun!

Ashley Cole was going on about our style of play not being up to chelsea before the game so was soooooo happy when we beat their butts. It's a shame i quite the name Ashley but could not do that to my lovely baby. Esp after naming the last one. DS's name is Alexander, and about 4 days after the birth, i came into the lounge room to see DH looking gobsmacked at the tele he then looked at me and said 'what have we done' on the tele was Sir Alex ferguson having an interview. We had forgotten about him when we named DS. I still love his name and it suits him perfectly but we still get hassled by our ManU fan friends.

Cat-i'm the same but i have also figured if i do pack it i won't need it, kind of a reverse sods law. I got some of those disposable knikers too, very sexy i think. I am so excited about the pool coming tomorrow. I'm gonna try it out after we put DS to bed kind of a nice big jacuzzi in the lounge but without the jets.

oh i know about Gallas' bod after the game, it was luuuurrrrvely. I love when they all ake their shirts off, though i was surprised at how scrawny.

Cat you must live around the corner from a friend of mine, she is on Lowmen Road. I was there the weekend before last. DH & I had season tickets in that beautiful stadium but gave them up this season as we are up here now and it was just silly trying to go up and down to games at the end of last season. DH has taken DS there though for a game which was really lovely and we will take him again soon, maye to one of the youth games. I have met a lot of teh player because they used to visit the Royal Free kids wards at least once a year.

kayzisexpecting · 01/12/2008 18:13

Yeah Ashley is nice but I just don't like 'Cashley' Cole. I love the name Theo but DH said no because DS is Freddie.

Lots of people think he is named after 'Freddie' Flintoff as DS was born when the cricket world cup was happening in the Caribean and it was when he got drunk on a pedalo.

Veggiemummy · 01/12/2008 18:14

oh i meant to say i was surprised at how scrawny Van Persie is.

kayzisexpecting · 01/12/2008 18:17

Oh I know, really bad. Also Bendtner from midweek when he scored. They were both really scrawny.

emmanbump · 01/12/2008 18:18

Thanks Simmo

Beans33 · 01/12/2008 18:21

Gosh, I don't watch footie at all - no sports at all really. Rugby at a push!

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 01/12/2008 18:22

hehehe that is funny to think he is named after a cheeky cricketer. I thought that was actually quite crap that he got in so much trouble for that, when all the news channels where into showing him drunk and fine about it after the Ashes ut then got all funny about it during the world cup. I realise they hadn't actually finished playing but they weren't going to win anyway. Also i have had a late night pedalo adventure so think it is a good idea.

kayzisexpecting · 01/12/2008 18:26

Even on DS's Birth Announcement thread I was asked if he arrived by pedalo.

Look I ws saying I'd never do it again and look where I am.

Veggiemummy · 01/12/2008 18:33

Hey Beans do you still have a cough, i have had one for about a month now, it is just an annoying cough, not a cold or anything. i don't know if it is related to the heartburn, or cos i have more saliva, or just something to do with pregnancy, like being more stuffed up in general. It is a real pain esp coupled with a weak pelvic floor. I keep having coughing fits taht end with me needing to change my undies.

penny99 · 01/12/2008 18:55

veggie - my mum (australian!) said the 1st was ok for christmas trees to go up so mine went up today! But its fake so will last to christmas. We always kept ours up til the 5th or 6th of December though.

And I agree with your comments about random people's predictions about due dates. The lady in the post office said I was looking too comfortable to actually be having a baby on my due date in two days so was likely to go late - uh, thanks!

If anyone is after christmas outfits for baby both John Lewis and Mamas and Papas have cute ones. I am waiting to see what I have and what size before purchasing. I think DH thinks a baby christmas outfit is a bit tacky but I think us december parents are allowed!!

A huge congratulations Chutney!!! The first december baby.

Simmo He he - my hospital bag is big but hair straighteners - really!!?

I've nothing to add to the banter about football except to say that my DH thinks that Fernando, Ronaldo and Torres are all contenders for our baby's name. Apologies to anyone who is naming their baby any of these.

My goodness - I have just had to read 7 pages to catch up with you all!! Wow.

My brain has now also forgotten all the information I read. But very briefly

Trace hope you are feeling better and they have worked out the best thing to do with your meds. I am snappy with my DC (esp my DD) and I do feel guilty, but we are trying our best and they still love their Mummies even when we are a bit cross.

I am so excited about Chutneys news. Got the text but was out all day and fretting that maybe PD wouldn't be able to post and you'd all be worrying about her.

I got a text from the Group B strep testing people (this morning - having only posted my swabs on Friday - amazing) and it's positive . But as far as I know, I will still be able to have my baby at the Birth Unit and have a waterbirth. Here's hoping.

Someone asked for the link to the place you can get the private Group B strep test done for £32. Here it is Group B strep test

I went to see my friend who had her baby three weeks ago. She was lovely and made me feel so happy and excited about meeting this new baby. She was truly gorgeous.

Kimberley glad they thought the rash was nothing to worry about. I am at J&Ls thursday morning for an antenatal appointment if you fancied meeting for coffee. CAT me if you can.
