Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
DonnyLass · 04/12/2008 13:25

Had my boy Nov 18th at1735 after a 3h labour ... currently expresing ... better move threads!

artichokes · 04/12/2008 13:32

Thanks Effie. I should not complain as DD is with the nanny today so I can do what I want. But even that makes me sad as I really wanted to spend proper time with DD before the baby came. The other night DH brought her up to our bedroom to say goodnight and she hugged me and said "I have not seen you for long weeks Mummy" . She is only likely to feel that more acutely in the coming weeks. As an only child myself I am finding it hard getting my head round the idea that I will have to share my attentions between two DDs.

Congratulations Donny. Sounds like a nice quick birth .

zoejeanne · 04/12/2008 13:33

kayz on the HB, that's great news - and actually sounded really simple to arrange with the MW. Good luck with it

veggie how long should you keep taking arnica after the birth?

Ok, now I'm going to type up my birth plan and try not to change my mind too many times between now and b day!

zoejeanne · 04/12/2008 13:35

ooh, and congratulations to donnylass well done!

EffiePerine · 04/12/2008 13:38

Arti: I think most of us with a DC already are worrying about this: remmeber that the 'deadline' of you and DD time before the borth is yours not hers - she won;t be thinking 'only X days with mummy till the baby arrives'. Also, planning time/activities with just you and DD after the birth is prob just as important (if not more so).

kayzisexpecting · 04/12/2008 13:40

Nope no Drop in centre.

I still don't feel right, head feels a bit wierd. DH is lovely and has taken a day off work as I don't feel 100% about having to lift DS. He doesn't get picked up very often as he is too independent and wants to walk everywhere. But we still have to lift him into his highchair for dinner etc.

I'm going to have to re write my birth plan aren't I? Might do it after I have had a sleep.

Veggiemummy · 04/12/2008 13:41

sorry i lies it is actually Arnica 200c once a day for five days and also you can take Calendula 30c for 5 days too.

DonnyLass · 04/12/2008 13:41

Artichokes ... i am an only child and also have a dd (and now a son too!) ... i know exactly how you feel re needing time with your dd

do make time

i got home from hosp and dd just rejected me and i felt utterly sad ... for the 'loss' of a one-on-one relationship and for simply the speed with which the last 2 years flew and she looks so big now .... were did my babygirl go

i didnt make the time -- even have a day with her and just you and tell her over and again how much you love her

ps dd1 coming round now phew!

EffiePerine · 04/12/2008 13:42

so is that 1 tablet a day for 5 days? Might get the 30 as well for before the birth in that case.

(part of me is thinking they're only sugar pils anyway, but it can't hurt )

kayzisexpecting · 04/12/2008 13:44

Congrats Donny

I might get some of this Arnica stuff, it sounds good.

zoejeanne · 04/12/2008 13:47

What does calendula do? Sorry to be dim here!

Is anyone planning on using clary sage oil to bring on labour? And what do you do with that? I was thinking a bath?

kayzisexpecting · 04/12/2008 13:49

Zoe I have been using it for a week now and no labour!!!

Put it in the bath, mixed it with a carrier oil to use for massages and sniff it randomly and still no baby.

It might work for you though.

zoejeanne · 04/12/2008 13:53

kayz I don't think I've heard of anyone that it's worked for - but it sounds a good excuse to have a relaxing bath I suppose!

Veggiemummy · 04/12/2008 13:54

Apparently the Arnica is for bruising and to prevent sepsis and the calendula is to promote soft tissue healing. Oviously these things will happen anyway as our bodies are designed to heal but it just supports this happening esp if it is dif to rest after birth due to having DC's.

Also my Homeopath told me to tell anyone who doesn't have the birth they wanted or feel guilty or unhappy about how things happened or whatever to take Ignatia for a couple of days as it helps with dealing with these emotions and eventual acceptance of what happened.

i still can't believe this whole Shannon Matthews case it is just horrible that someone could e so desperate for money that they could do that to their child.

kayzisexpecting · 04/12/2008 13:58

Zoe Mix it with baby oil and get MrZoe to give you a nice massage.

That whole Shannon thing was so horrible. I remember being glued to the tv when she missing. I felt so sorry for her poor mother and it was all so misplaced.

Veggiemummy · 04/12/2008 14:09

they just replayed her appeal on the radio when she was crying and asking for her return, i just can't believe how legit she sounded.

SL our birthpool has a puncture i rang the help line for the company but it seems we misread the instruction (or completely didnt read them at all) as it said on the 3rd page that we should not inflate the pool until it has been in our house for 24hrs as in cold weather the plastic can become brittle cos it is non PVC or whatever. they were very apologetic and asked if they should have put the warning of the 24hr thing somewhere else. She was very sweet. I suggested she put it on the front of the instructions but i said truthfully we probably wouldn't have seen it as we just wanted to have a play with it. anyway we are gonna try to find the puncture and fix it.

I'm a little worried about the other lady that my MW is delivering as i still haven't heard from my MW since yesterday to rearrange my appointment. I hope she is ok, she was in QMC in Nottingham yesterday, her waters broke on tuesday. When i spoke to my MW yesterday she sounded a little despondent and very tired poor thing.

emmanbump · 04/12/2008 14:10

Congratulations Donnylass!

JamInMyWellies · 04/12/2008 14:11

Hi all,

verso I was going to suggest the sivlerette things but glad to see all is in hand. Have you tried feeding lying down as sometimes that helps as you are both more relaxed, also not sure if this has been mentioned prob has and I missed it but has the bubba been checked for tongue tie? Cant remember where oyu are based are you London? if so I know a brill BF councellor who I am sure would be able to help you.

LadyT hope things are a bit more settled for you just remember you have been through a lot and it takes time to adjust to everyhting and when your milk comes in it does sned oyu a bit haywire for a couple of days. I know oyu are not BF but you cna still use savoy cabbage leaves to soothe your boobs.

Kayz am really glad you are going to get oyur HB be careful with the dizziness you should phone oyur surgery and get an emetgency app at this late stagwe in preg these little things should not be overlooked.

Catdean good for you standing up to the MW.

Aeri glad you are feeling a bit better.

Emmanbump did oyur niggles go away, who else was having pains etc I cant keep up.

Nothing occuring here went to yoga this morning and booked in for next wk too as I can't see this baby making an appearance before then well apart from the dread that it will come tom - my birthday.

Well suppose I should crack on witht he neverending housework and ironing wish I had a cleaner.

emmanbump · 04/12/2008 14:23

Hey Jam niggles have been on and off but nothing more than niggles. I think it might be head engaging a bit more. Was brave enough to venture outside today for a bit of a walk. I'm with you on the never ending housework and ironing.

JamInMyWellies · 04/12/2008 14:31

Blimey have just read back my post and seen the numerous spelling mistakes much apologies I can actually spell but my laptop is much loved and used and half the keyboard has had the letters rubbed off and I type too fast to see what my fingers are doing, and I can never be faffed with previewing my messages so hence masses of mistakes.

Veggiemummy · 04/12/2008 14:31

oh Jam, our house is a mess and DH & DS have gone to gymnastics so now would be a good time for me to do it but i think i'm gonna have a big long bath. You have made me feel like i should tidy the house now though.

MW just called, her other ladys baby arrived safely so thats good and she is coming around tomorrow.

emmanbump · 04/12/2008 15:03

Veggie off to the bath with you. There will always be more housework to do!

EffiePerine · 04/12/2008 15:07

BATH

I asked my parents for some nice bath stuff for Xmas, they were set to get me books or DVDs (as was DH) until I pointed out that as haevily pg or dealing with a newborn it was the last thing I needed! Asked Dh for something frivolous, not sure what I will end up with

Also bought some nice Aveda hair stuff yesterday as my present from MIL's cheque (what's left after the P&T expenditure) so should be set for a bit of pampering when (and if) I get the chance. I remember the blissfulness of getting time to have a lavendar bath in the morning while DH looked after DS2 after his birth.

hattyyellow · 04/12/2008 15:08

donny congratulations!!!

arti sorry you're still feeling poorly.

zj/abbey/kayz thanks for the travel advice, the roads are horrible today aren't they - zoe hope your DH gets home safely too, I'll be relieved when mine walks through the door!

That's really interesting about the Robert Winston project as well - although to be honest I would still happily avoid a direct hit on Christmas day - I'm worried about there only being one nurse and a caretaker to deliver me and would rather the babe gets its own birthday rather than Christmas day!

Keep getting a heavy sensation very low down, a bit like when your period is about to start..kind of heavy as if its about to flow..is this pregnancy niggles or labour type pains? Sound familiar to anyone?

EffiePerine · 04/12/2008 15:23

Hatty: could be BHs, I've been getting feelings like that as well, or the head engaging?
