Zoe You have really scared me now. I wasn't told anything about Malton being closed. The MW said the other week that it is closed one day a week because when the MW's are dealing with a birth overnight, there is no one to do the paperwork the following day.

katie3677 · 02/12/2008 21:55

Right, I'm off to take my meds and then to bed, after I've checked my hospital bag for the twentieth time tonight!
Not looking forward to getting ds (and DH) up at six to get on the road!
See you all soon.
x

Veggiemummy · 02/12/2008 22:04

no it was before we put it up, i was hoping i would relax when it arrived. I think the fact that DH is going away tomorrow and my MW is still as far as i know at this other birth, so right now is prob the worst time to go into labour maybe that is why i'm getting worked up. anyway off to ed now maybe a couple hours of sleep before the waking heartburn and weeing cycle start will help. Also DS just woke with a nightmare so having some cuddles will help.

kayzisexpecting · 02/12/2008 22:09

Night Katie Will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Veggie I will keep fingers crossed that nothing happens yet. Hope you get a decent nights sleep.

Turniphead1 · 02/12/2008 22:16

Katie best of luck again!

Zoe that's lovely advice from your friend about being a mother! Really beautifully put.

Veggie hope nothing kicks off tonight.

Off to bed to watch Strictly Come Dancing It Takes Two!

Kimberly1979 · 02/12/2008 23:13

turnip 12:30 at the cafe in the hospital it is!! See you then!

artichokes · 02/12/2008 23:27

A quick post from a very sick me . After I got back from the hospital yesterday I started to feel awful and it turns out I have caught DD's virus. This is my first moment out of bed in 36 hours - I have a high fever, shivers, bad cough, earache and sore throat . I am soooooo scared of going into labour now as I am so weak. I hoestly think labour would kill me. This is a real worry as I have had loads of bloody show today... Please stay inside baby, just 'til Mummy is a bit fitter.

I have loved reading LadyT, JJ and Lal's birth stories. Such a range od experiences. LadyT - sorry to hear about the botched epi but you sound like you are doing brilliantly now.

Verso - Sorry to hear you had to go back into hospital and that feeding is proving a challenge. TBH I had jsut assumed I would have no problems this time as it was a breeze last time, I think it is good that your experience has prepared me that there could be problems.

kate2179 · 03/12/2008 07:27

Morning ladies, I have some news for you all... Drum roll please....

Mibbes has had a BOY!!!!!

I'll copy out the text I had from them, then you'll all know as much as I do!

"Baby EVAN was born at 12.20am. He is 6lb 5oz and the spit of daddy! Ended up with emergency c-section after much panic but all ok now "

Poor Mibbes, I don't know what went on, but it sounds pretty stressful, although I don't suppose they care too much now as it seems everything has worked out beautifully!

MASSIVE congratulations to Mibbes, MrMibbes and their little Miblet! xxx

IceCube · 03/12/2008 07:47

Arti - poor you, I feel delicate enough without being hit with a virus. Hope you have someone there to bring you hot drinks so you can stay put in bed and recover. Hopefully baby will stay put too and shows are just a reaction to being ill rather than a sign of labour.

Now that DH is back home my twinges have eased off, so could be weeks before this one makes an appearance. Was just starting to feel ready too.

IceCube · 03/12/2008 07:50

Ooh, another baby, missed that post.

Congrats to Mibbes, even if not the start you would have planned good to hear everyone is ok now

Verso · 03/12/2008 07:58

Congratulations to mibbes, mrmibbes and the Mibblet .

arti I really hope labour doesn't start for you until you're feeling a bit better. You poor thing.

veggie hope you had an ok and reasonably restful night and that labour hasn't started yet.

It feels like everyone's on the starting blocks, waiting for the off! I love this thread! (have said that before but I do think it's fab)

News on the feeding is that after reaching crisis point around 11pm yesterday (DD2 took the bruised top layer of skin completely off my left boob - I thought I was going to die with the pain! - OW OW OW!) she then slept for three hours (this is an unheard-of luxury in this house with babies - DD1 DID NOT SLEEP)... fed brilliantly at 1am, slept again, fed at 4am, slept again and has just finished breakfast. Feel much more positive. I just hope things continue like this!

(Have now probably completely jinxed it!)

abbymeg · 03/12/2008 08:40

Mibbes can congratulate you on another thread! I'm so very pleased for you all .

abbymeg · 03/12/2008 08:49

Growth scan today. I'm a bit anxious because they said that I didn't need one last time, despite being 6cms out - I had one at 28 weeks and it was all normal. However, as I was still 6cms out last week I've got to go for one. I know if the baby is out of range they have to check all of the organs. I'm hoping it's not, as I am quite spacious - it's a baby cave in there!

rosmerta · 03/12/2008 08:49

mibbes congratulations!

verso glad dd2 seems to be settling & that you're getting rest!

arti poor you, virus sounds awful, am hoping labour will hold off until you have had lots of rest & feeling better

JamInMyWellies · 03/12/2008 08:57

Congrats mibbles.

How is everyone doing this morning anything KAyz and Veggie?

ZoeJ I was watching this morning last wk and they had their gardening bod on who said water with a cup of sugar or full fat coke helps the needles stay on.

Arti your body often gets bad cold or tummy bugs before giving birth its the bodies way of expelling any nasties so you are healthy and fit to give birth.

Still hanging in here no show no leaking waters just excrutiating pain in the night in my pelvis area everytime I try to move. Oh and I appear to have pulled my groin its a different pain to the spd and is bloody annoying anyone know what I can do to fix it?

It is very very cold here this morning might take the hound for a run as the fields should be nice and crispy rather than muddy.

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 08:59

Congratulations Mibbes!!!! Arti Sorry you aren't well. I hope labour holds off until you are feeling much better.

Verso Glad everything is starting to go better and that dd2 is letting you get some sleep.

traceface · 03/12/2008 09:13

morning all!
COngratulations mibbles! Thinking of you and hope you're enjoying your precious bundle xxx

Feel like I didn't sleep a wink last night - although I know I did really! Many a wee-stop, dd having a nightmare...now all I want to do is close my eyes and sleep but no chance of that with dd all day! Have already watched a Land Before Time film, played on the cbeebies website and now she's in the bath so I've got a few minutes to say Hi to you all! I just hope we play princesses later because if you get to be Snow White, you can close your eyes for a hundred years (in reality about 6 seconds but it's better than nothing!)

veggie - good effort with the bag of Maltesers...I'm afraid to admit I troughed a whole box - and had had the best part of a Terry's Choc Orange the night before...and I wonder why I'm piling on the pounds?!!! Am such a piglet!

traceface · 03/12/2008 09:15

also when baby moves today it feels like it's going to propel itself out through my back bum!!! Sorry for TMI!!!

rosmerta · 03/12/2008 09:19

trace sorry you're not getting much rest. I'm lucky in that ds will let me lie down & close my eyes for about half an hour. In fact, yesterday he put his little blanket over me to keep me warm. I nearly burst into tears then

I really need to start eating properly again. I just don't feel like eating anything at all, am pretty much having to force it down so I know I've got enough strength for when labour does (eventually) start.

kayzisexpecting · 03/12/2008 09:24

I have a question

The maternity ward I am going to have DS2 at closes one day a week. If I go into labour that day I need to go to Scarborough(boo hiss). Only thing is MW said to ring labour ward when contractions are between 5-10 minutes apart. If I wait until then I probably won't get to Scarborough. It takes 30-45 minutes to get there and in this sort of weather it could be longer.

So if I ring and they are closed what do you suggest I do?

rosmerta · 03/12/2008 09:32

kayz although they are closed, will they still have midwives on duty? Just wondering if you could ask for one to come to you as you wouldn't get to Scarborough in time. They would have to send someone! Otherwise, I guess you'd have to go to Scarborough a bit earlier on the basis that by the time you get there, then your contractions would be 5mins apart.

penny99 · 03/12/2008 09:33

Well although today is due date there does not seem to be any sign of a baby coming. I went for a 'stomp' around the park this morning in an attempt to push baby down but assume that he has worked out how cold it is out there and decided he would be mad to come out!

JJ, lal and LadyT - thank you so much for sharing your birth stories. They have reminded me that labour can take many different directions and that keeping an open mind to the possibilities is important.

Arti - sympathies that you are so unwell. I've read that your body tries not to go into labour if you are unwell as it knows you will be more able to cope with the labour once you are better.

This is probably a question for the Christmas post but I would love to hear from any lovers of mince pies where they think the best mince pies are from. The M&S ones are good and I had a mini one from starbucks which was ok but I am always on the lookout for the 'perfect' one!

Hurray! WEll done Mibbes - that's so exciting - and a boy! Oh lovely!

I'm off for doctor appointment now. Had a bit of liquid come out during the night, which I don't think was wee, but had a panic it was! Anyway, put in a liner and managed to catch some, so am taking that along for the appointment - lucky old doctor! hee hee! Oh well. I've shaved my legs in case of anything happening - plus had cramps last night - my first. But I'm guessing it's nothing as feel fine today now! Hee hee!

Thats what I was thinking Rosmerta. Asking them to send a MW to me. Will they be able to do that even if I'm not booked in for a homebirth?
