Hi all. Sorry to hear some of you have bad colds or flu - that's horrid.

I phoned the antental clinic earlier as I've got a funny ache in my stomach that feels like a stitch - she said it's probably either the ligaments stretching or when I fell off my bike I pulled a muscle. It's not really painful but just because it's new I was a bit concerned. Have others been getting these kinds of aches?

Seeing my midwife on Monday anyway to listen to heartbeat.

I'm 16 weeks today. Feels like it's been ages I've been pregnant already! xx

LoobyLou36 · 12/12/2008 11:51

I love the name Millie pulapula although it is the name of my great niece so that's prob why. She is so cute!

My DH wants a welsh name for us. We're not finding out the sex so will have to think up names for both. He already has a girl called Rhiannon.

LoobyLou36 · 12/12/2008 11:53

MsG I've had all sorts of aches and pains recently. MW said its prob ligaments stretching and only to worry if I started bleeding or pains get really bad.

I feel bad bothering her with questions. I think she thinks I'm a bit thick but I have never done this before.

Momino · 12/12/2008 12:09

Bantam,
Tell your MIL in the nicest poss way not to come. You don't need another cold or cough. isn't our immune system slightly weakened in pregnancy?

Momino · 12/12/2008 12:15

Looby/MsG,
Don't worry about calling MW, they must expect it, there are so many questions, worries, uncertainty... that's what they're there for. Any question or doubt, call.

pain does sound like stretching but, like, looby said, look out for bleeding or pain worsening.

MsG · 12/12/2008 12:38

Thanks, Looby and Momino. This pregnancy lark is just one long worry-fest, isn't it?! Must book myself a relaxing massage!!

I'm confused about the information I've heard about listening to the heartbeat - the midwife I spoke to today said they wouldn't normally try to listen until 17 weeks. My own midwife wants us in this week (16 weeks) to hear it - but when I had the stomach bug at 14 weeks we heard it then, though the doctor did warn me that we might not hear it.

I can't wait till I can feel the baby moving and feel it through my stomach!

Re. names, Emily is one of my favourite names ever, but we don't feel we could use it because one of the little girls down our street is called Emily!

xx

HELLO - I have namechanged to protect my identity from RLifers who may be lurking because
I KNOW WHAT I'M HAVING!
Got my full amnio karyotype thing phonecall this morning (got a shock because I'd been told it would be middle of next week). Anyway all is totally normal and I am delighted. And that's all I'm saying.
(although clues: the fast hearbeat was wrong, the pointy low down bump was right, the colour I've had the baby's room painted was right and the feeling different to my other 2 pregnancies was also right! Therefore I wasn't that surprised at all but am totally totally totally delighted. ).....haven't told DH yet and don't know if I will. He has a big mouth hmmmmmmmm He's coming home in 1/2 hour so I'd better get a grip!
(have posted on the baby name threads pre name change - duh! so if you can't work it out have a look on there).

And if you're someone in RL who knows me KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT! BIG SECRET
Thankyou
(sorry, just a bit over-excited).

But now I don't like any of my name choices....what to do?

Momino · 12/12/2008 14:53

I'm delighted for you delighted... you sound over the moon . very happy for you.

btw, i like your new name!

llareggub · 12/12/2008 15:10

DH really wants Ptolemy for this little one. I love it but not sure about it, particularly given the prentenious comments! We already have a boy named after a mildly famous bear...beginning with a B not an R who is friendly with a girl called Becky. That'll out me to anyone who knows me, no doubt!

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 12/12/2008 15:11

Hello Ladies,

Im still in a quite a bit of pain and unable to strighten out, marvelous, just spoken to Midwife and Dr is going to ring me in 10 mins, paracetemol isnt helping, and it hurrrrtttttsssss!

Also, another thing to top my day, my right nipple has started leaking! apparently this is normal, but surely not at 17WEEKS! Im not even friggin half way through yet!

As you can probably guess I am a little cheesed off, and then the midwife had the cheek to tell me to go and buy breast pads! I AM NOT WEARING BREAST PADS FOR THE NEXT 23WEEKS + + ! ! !

Arghhhh!

Momino · 12/12/2008 15:30

Nikkie,
I don't blame you - i'm not looking forward to breast pads again. Maybe it will stop... ?? anyway, hope you get relief soon.

quiet without girls but not getting much done.
am now eating Salt/vinegar crisps with cream cheese. anyone else eating weird things?

glad it's friday.

MatthewAndBumpsMummy · 12/12/2008 15:47

congratulations delighted!

ive been having lots of aches and pains in bump aswell lately think its just streching, it also really hurts when i cough and sneeze sometimes is this normal?

nikkie- my boobs starting leaking really early when i was pg with ds around about 16wks i think so im thinking it will prob happen again this time but im only 15wks at the mo so just waiting to see. i remember thinking what already when mine started and i had to wear breast pads through the pg it was very fun but better than wet patches on all my tops i spose!

im liking all the talk about baby names were not sure about names yet, we have a girls name we like but cant agree on a boys one so waiting to find out what were having and if it is another boy then we better get thinking.

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 12/12/2008 15:55

I hope it does stop momino!

I have heard from Dr who was even less helpful he said, and I quote, "its ligament damage and internal bruising so yes it will hurt" frigging idiot does he not think I know that! I look like the hunch back of notra dame when I try and walk cuz I cant stand up straight for the pain so he suggested I have a bath! HOW THE HELL! What would I do if I got in and then couldn't get out! I'd look like a prune before anyone would find me!

This week is not a good week!

However I expect my low blood pressure is porbably back up again now due to all this stress!

How I wish I had some chocolate . . Madi's Advent Calander is staring at me! Ooo I'd never forgive myself! Haha!

Sorry for the rant!

Hi all,
Some great news about scans, and finding out sex. Am liking the name choices too. Ptolemy is lovely.

As I'm convinced we're having a boy, we've been thinking of Howard (Howie) as a name, any thoughts? Feel free to slate I want honest feedback I don't know if its a bit cruel to name a kid after my favourite Mighty Boosh character tho

nikki hope you are feeling better soon, no helpful advice to offer I'm afraid.

Have a great weekend all.

delightedoldbag34 · 12/12/2008 16:40

Thanks for the congrats.
I told DH (he guessed I knew from the look on my face).
I think he's a bit disappointed as he was hoping for another the same.
but when I pointed out the opportunities for golf and football he perked up a bit. I think I've done the right thing in telling him to give him time to come to terms with it.
I meanwhile am skipping around like a spring lamb!
(well, a spring lamb with a fat tummy!)
hee hee
He's promised on his life not tell anyone so he'd better not.
Can't wait to start building up a secret stash of blue. Ohhhh.

divedaisy · 12/12/2008 16:57

Oh Delighted - to many clues leaked now!! Congrats!!!

Rubysmom08 - I had horrid hallicinations and visions of things happening too - it's horrible the way the mind can over stretch the imagination... I truely can sympathise with you - been there, experienced that. I once had a vision when changing ds. He was wearing one of those baby suits with poppers up one leg then up the front. In my vision whatever whay he was lying (with his head looking to the side) I TRULEY belived I had 'put his head on the wrong way round'. It took me a good few moments to convince myself everything was OK. But when I went to bed I continued to think about it and had a horrendous dream - I was sitting on the floor in a pool of blood trying to get his head back on the right way. Therapy helped thankfully, and recently I have again began to have the horrid thoughts again - of cars going on fire, car crashes etc. But I now know how to deal with them myself. The mind is a bugger at times!

MsG - I have those stretchy stitchy aches also. Part of getting bigger!!

Matthew&Bumpsmum - OH Yes it hurts!!! It feels as if your've done yourself a mischief!!

llareggub - Ptolemy is really growing on me and if your other LO is called B......by as I'm thinking it would go really well. (I love B...by - I used to have a BMW called that! - yes, I'm one of those weirdos that names their cars ) That name is on MY name list but not on DH's.
God knows what we;ll call this LO......
running - not sure about Howie - will let it sink in for a bit and get back with a decision!
dandy - I like Sasha too. Did you mean for a girl or boy? When I was a child we had a (male) dachshund called Sasha - he was a darling. Do you think it's 'getawaywithable' for a boy baby? Definitely nice for I girl I think. Samuel nice too, like Sam. Also Ben (after Ben Folds!)
ohnickie poor you. Send someone out for some emergency choccy - sounds like you need it!

Re: hearbeats - when I was doing my midwifery training I'm sure we were taught to listen in from about 12-14 wks but warned mums that depending on where the baby was it might not be possible to hear it. As far as I remember it was quite unusual not to find one.
Personally speaking I've been listening to mine with my home doppler (which is a pretty good one, the same as ones midwives have) since about 9.5 wks and finding a clear heartbeat. That's why I was so when my midwife didn't bother to feel my tummy or listen in to the baby at my appontment on Tues. I'm almost 18 wks so she should def have done it.
(incidentally I mentioned her name to a couple of people who have recently had babies and they said 'oh no, you haven't got her'. Apparently she is a bit rubbish. Fortunately (or last time anyway) I saw a different m/w at every appointment so shouldn't have to see her too often. Am hoping not again! Am still reeling from her 'episiotomy' comments - I think I'd have remembered having one of those!!!!!!
Sorry huge post x

Thanks, exactly the kind of feedback I need. Its been really growing on me since DH suggested it. We're trying to think 'what if he wants to be a rock star' and 'what if he wants to be a politician' and trying to come up with a name that would be cool enough for the former (I think Howie is) and formal enough for the latter (Howard does this really well with our weird surname).

Other options are Evan - which I think might be a bit too cool, me and DH are such geeks, our kid has no hope and DH likes Austin, but I'm not sure as it reminds me of that annoying english rugby player who just got kicked off strictly!

Momino · 12/12/2008 17:23

Dandy, DH and dd1 call Saskia 'Sasha' as a nickname - so you can use both!

Dandy Yeah that's what it makes me think - reminds me of Evan Dando from the lemonheads, a teenage crush of mine!

lol at Austin comments too. Are you Welsh or Scottish perhaps??
