Cote What an interesting video. I got the very basic jist. Even at 20 weeks though they say if it's a girl there is still a higher chance of them being wrong than if they say it's a boy. For DS we were undecided as to whether we would find out the sex. We asked the sonnographer to write it down and put it in an envelope. She did and went on to say she was 98% sure. We never did open the envelope.

FiKelly · 30/11/2008 09:58

I've just uploaded my heartrate scan photo to my profile page... if anyone can decipher the numbers from the LHS and spot a heart rate one let me know.

The only likely ones seem to be the last 2 but they're listed at PeakU 17.7 & PeakL 18.7... moving the decimal point along one stop would give me a number that'd make sense!?

cece · 30/11/2008 10:00

If you scroll down this page their is info on gender identification. Also on another of the ultrasound pages on this site there is info on heartrates.

cece · 30/11/2008 10:03

emryonic heart rate

Jael · 30/11/2008 10:04

I checked my maternity notes, and my scan pics in detail. There's no record of the heart rate at all.

Jael X

llareggub · 30/11/2008 11:51

There's nothing on mine either Jael. I'm seeing my consultant next Friday so if uses the Doppler I'm going to ask for an estimate. 20 week scan is just after christmas so I might find out the gender then...I just can't decide!

I saw some lovely baby clothes in Gap yesterday and I so wished I knew the gender! Still, we found out last time so it would be nice to have a surprise. Decisions, decisions!

CoteDAzur · 30/11/2008 13:33

It is just as big a surprise if you are told the sex at 12 week scan, or 5 month scan, though

llareggub · 30/11/2008 13:40

I know, we found out at the scan in my last pregnancy. Still undecided.

SpangleMaker · 30/11/2008 15:17

Afternoon all

Got up this morning to find quite a lot of fresh blood & later a few clots so spent the last couple of hours at the hospital. Fortunately all seems to be fine, we heard baby's heartbeat - eventually, after an agonising wait and the 3rd doppler. The doctor did an internal exam & couldn't see anything abnormal (bleeding had stopped by then) so it's just 'one of those things' again, I guess. Glad I got it checked out though.

Re heartbeats sounding like galloping horses or trains - which was boys and which girls? We didn't notice with ours because it kept moving around and we were just so relieved, but there were 2 other ladies on the ward being monitored. One definitely sounded like a train (DH says, specifically on the Settle-Carlisle railway - don't ask) which was a girl. Then the lady in the next cubicle definitely sounded more like galloping horses - hers was a surprise.

On a positive note I can confirm detsy is lovely in RL and her little girl is gorgeous and cute

SpangleMaker · 30/11/2008 15:20

Oh - our bean's HR was 168bpm at 11.5wks and somewhere between 135-145 at 16wks. What does that make it?

Angle of the dangle method looks like girl.

CoteDAzur · 30/11/2008 16:31

How scary for you, Spangle. It's good to hear everything is going well, though.

DD sounded like galloping horses. This one (boy) sounds like a train.

With DD, heart rate didn't change much throughout pregnancy and remained around 160-170 bpm. With this one, 135 bpm at 7 weeks and 13 weeks.

Momino · 30/11/2008 16:43

evening all.
don't know the heartbeat from previous visits or scan but am sure it's a girl. Will try to find out at 20wk scan on 10th.

Went to Gap today with 30% voucher and got some great things for DDs but nothing for baby3, poor thing: will have to deal with handmedowns like DD2.

also rec'd my wide legged Dor Perkins jeans from ebay and they are very comfy and only slightly big for my size. Can't wear them with a large jumper though as I feel like an elephant. So will stick to skinny ones when wearing chunky knits (lots of those lately - verrrrry cold up north).

All well today?
spangle, you must be so relieved! glad to hear it was 'nothing' or 'one of those things'.

MsG · 30/11/2008 18:03

Spangle, glad all is ok - that must have been really scary for you.

Had a minor scare myself this weekend but nowhere near as horrible as yours - had a dodgy stomach but I've never had stomach ache as bad or lasting as long. Eventually went to the out of hours GP yesterday morning and he reckons it's just some mild gastro thing - we listened to baby's heartbeat which was amazing! I feel a lot better today though a bit washed out. I wasn't too worried but still, it was worrying.

Hope veryone else is ok. xx

FiKelly · 30/11/2008 19:13

SpangleMaker what a scare for you & really glad to hear that all is ok.

I'm actually getting down to writing my book review tonight. With the power cut on Thursday and feeling really tired the last few days I've just not had the brain power. Feeling more with it tonight and not updated my blog for just over a week so going to just get it done....

Then I can get back to making the xmas stocking for DS

rek21 · 30/11/2008 20:01

Hello everyone,

Thanks to those who reminded me about prescription antacids, I did find out about that late on in the last pregnancy, but somehow never got over the feeling that it wasn't serious enough to bother the doctor about. So kept buying them, which was probably daft!

Spangle, glad to hear that everything is OK.

Don't know either heartbeat or gender of current baby, so not much use to the survey I'm afraid.

Fed up at the prospect of work tomorrow - I have a late shift to add insult to injury. Can't seem to shake the tiredness yet, oh well, give it a couple of weeks. DH keeps saying, 'you'll be blooming soon...' (Call me cynical but that kind of sounds like 'you're not blooming at the moment' )

Enjoy the last few hours of the weekend.

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 30/11/2008 20:17

Is anyone about? Im feeling down and depressed, not feeling pregnant, feeling quite shit actually, like this is not meant to be, Someone make it better! Im home on my own too so doesnt help

LoobyLou36 · 30/11/2008 20:27

Is anyone still suffering from the dreaded MS (or should that be all day sickness)

Thought I was over it but it has come back with a vengeance DH is sat next to me watching tog gear and munching away on a big bowl of roasted monkey nuts, just the smell of them is making me feel ill.

I'm 18 weeks today.

On a plus note, most days I can feel the little wriggler when I lie still. I am convinced its a girl but have no idea why.

rek21 if its any consolation I too feel tired still although my DH comments are more like "when do you turn into randy pregnant woman?"

CoteDAzur · 30/11/2008 20:30

Hi Nikkie - Why are you feeling so down?

If there is no real reason you can put your finger on, try my favourite remedy: nutella on toast. Brightens up my day every time

SpangleMaker · 30/11/2008 20:36

Thanks all for the good wishes.

Nikkie sorry to hear you're feeling low. It feels like this half of pregnancy goes on for ages - you feel you've been pregnant forever with nothing to show for it - though I'm sure when I get all huge & can't sleep etc I'll wonder what I was moaning about! When's your next midwife appt & scan? Hearing the heartbeat is something to look forward to. Go & have yourself a nice long relaxing bath, a bit of pampering and an early night - I'm sure it will all seem much better in the morning x

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 30/11/2008 20:41

Thats just it, I dont feel pregnant, im not excited, I've got midwife appointment on Friday, I havent heard heartbeat yet, but Im not looking forward to it or anything, I just feel awful, like I shouldn't have allowed myself to get pregnant, I spent months wanting another baby, and was all excited at the prospect of having another baby, but its all just ogne, and it hurts so much cuz I feel like Im letting this baby down because I felt so differnetly when I was pregnant with my first,
I wish I could have nutella on toast but Im allergic to wheat/gluten!
Im sorry for my appalng spelling but crying is making it difficult to read the screen

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 30/11/2008 20:42

Im sorry I make no sense, I shouldn't have brought it up.
Nikkie

llareggub · 30/11/2008 20:44

Go shopping!

I felt a bit like you, in that I just didn't feel pregnant apart from the odd bit of movement.

I went shopping yesterday and popped into Baby Gap and Mothercare and came over all excited by the teeny baby clothes!

Seriously, I think these ups and downs are to be expected during pregnancy with the hormones all over the place.

detsy · 30/11/2008 20:44

Hi All

Spangle you poor thing - you must have been so frightened, really glad all seemed ok at ned of the day. Thanks also for kind comments!!

By return Spangle is also lovely - so nice to put a face to a name - are we the first two to meet up? Will stick top in post tomo - apols for prgncy brain and forgetting it - sm munching way thru chocs...

Momi i think something must be going round - after meeting spangle on Sa, I was in bed by 7pm with chronic tummy pain and nauseau - was scared like you but must just be a bug.

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 30/11/2008 20:47

I wish it could be like my first pregnancy, I loved it, I carried my scan pic with me everywhere but this time its still in with my maternity notes from 3 weeks ago, just doesnt feel real, i dont know what i can do, i tried shopping, bought loads ubt feel nothing, even looked at Madi's early baby pics today, and all it did was make me wish she was that small again not excited that Im going to have another one. Its doesnt help that everyone else is so excited, makes me feel worse

pulapula · 30/11/2008 20:51

Nikkie- hope you feel better soon.

Don't feel down- just am really moody! Think I feel tired and a bit queasy sometimes, and take it out on the kids (who have too much energy) and other family members.

I managed to find the HB with my doppler on Friday for the first time- it was really low down in my pelvis still (i'm 15 weeks tomorrow) so I was searching too high for it. I might check tonight and report back on the HR. Think its a girl, but maybe just wishful thinking.
