detsy · 30/11/2008 20:53

NIkki wouldn't worry sweetie, I think its perfectly normal to have crappy days. I have really down days and wonder what I've done as well - think its just girlie hormones bouncing about all over the place

DD has an eye infection - she started with horrid snotty cold today (again seems its been non stop for about 2 months now) and then same gunk started coming out of her eye as well. Straight to Boots and pharmacist recommended some Brolene drops for a few days - if no better then off to GP again...!!)

Sorry not Momi before but MsG with the tummy bug - durr

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 30/11/2008 20:59

Im going to make a cup of tea and see if there are any Milky Way Magic Stars in the cupboard, would anyone like some?
I hate feeling so shit, Im rubbish at coping with most things.

Febes · 30/11/2008 21:00

Nicky- If it makes you feel any better I felt like that in my last pregnancy. Very depressed and just felt like crawlng in a hole so it must be your hormones. Sending you hugs xxxx

llareggub · 30/11/2008 21:04

I'd so love some Milky Way Stars....hey, just another 22 weeks to wait. For those that wonder why I don't give in, I've recently been diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

No cake.

No chocolate.

No salt and vinegar crisps!!!!!!

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 30/11/2008 21:10

llareggub I kinda know how you feel, Im alergic to wheat/gluten and right now I want sandwiches, or a ham and pinapple pizza, or just a friggin biscuit!

Febes Was that you first/second . . . pregnancy? Did it get any better? Its hard to explain, when we were trying I was the most excitable person in the world about it, from the moment I got the poisitive result, it went, if Im honest Im really worried that its not going to get any better and when this baby comes Im not going to love it etc, it prob seems irrational, but I just wish there was something I could do, like a switch I could flick to make this 'normal'

detsy · 30/11/2008 21:13

My hb is about 150 fom home measurement dopp - its always 155 ish at MW app. Falls in between Cotes 165 tho!!

Febes · 30/11/2008 21:18

Nikki-It was my first I felt much better when I was in 3rd trimester but I think thats was maybe cause I started mat leave at 32 weeks so was more relaxed.
This time (secondPG) I feel fine actually not thinking about it that much as busy with DD and the house and work but I feel more positive. I think the pg hormones are very strong and can mess with your head. Try not to worry about your feelings towards the LO yet just enjoy your DD and look after yourself.

Nikkiemadisonandbump · 30/11/2008 21:22

Maybe thats what it is, that Im just not thinking about it, I've done it before so my body is just getting on with it, so instead of me thinking about the baby Im thinking about not thinking about the baby, does that make sense??lol.

Thanks for all your kind words.

Febes · 30/11/2008 21:24

I see what you mean. I think I kind of obsessed last time -maybe thats why I felt down- this time weeks are going by and I don't feel pg just fat and being sick lots . Not thinking of it at all hopefully I won't be shocked when I go into labour in May!!!!

pulapula · 30/11/2008 21:26

I've started my insecurity dreams which I'm sure I've had in previous pg too. e.g. DH leaving me for another woman. I remember with 1st pg i had loads where I had had a baby but would just forget to feed it or change its nappy! Pregnancy does funny things to your mind!

Momino · 30/11/2008 21:34

good eve all.
Nikki, I felt the same with my 2nd pregnancy and even lower with this 3rd. am still getting over PND and going to counselling. trying to be open with counsellor and GP as I'm trying to drum up being happy with this 3rd.

being down, not excited, etc can be normal in pregnancy. however, if it carries on, tell someone about it (MW or GP?) and get advice. you shouldn't have to be down all the time.

i feel negative all the time even though I've plenty to be thankful for. Just had thanksgiving dinner. DH got an expensive huge turkey and roasted it in our ancient 80's oven, even gave it an extra hour, took it out, carved, but looked pink still. don't know if we're paranoid? but can't be too careful. didn't really enjoy the meal (forgot the sprouts and stuffing as well!), both girls were fussy and dd2 teething badly and had to go to bed early.

so poor DH is now moping in the living room. i feel badly for him, he worked hard, spent a lot for a thanksgiving dinner for us but it was indeed rubbish (i didn't tell him that but we both know it).

how ridiculous though. supposed to be a holiday simply to say thanks for what we have and all I could think of were the things that went wrong.

ok, my rant over. I feel better now. thanks, ladies for listening to my (non) problems!

llareggub · 30/11/2008 21:42

A couple of posts have reminded me that I get overly anxious during pregnancy. I worry about things far more than I do normally. If DH is unusually late then I get very worried. Normally I probably wouldn't notice!

I don't think I am as excited or obsessed this time. First time around was new, exciting and something I had waited and prayed for. It took 3 years to get pregnant and I think all I did for those 9 months was think about being pregnant! This time I often forget about it and I think I am more relaxed this time.

DH and I spent a lot of time during the last pregnancy wondering what life with a baby will be like. We haven't needed to do this during this pregnancy, maybe it is a case of just getting on with things? I don't know.

FiKelly · 30/11/2008 23:34

looby my friend who is now about 6months is still vomiting & i was v queezy again all yesterday.. back in bed shortly after ds! i'm 16wks tomorrow.

nickie sending you major hugs sweetheart. you're not alone. at times odd thoughts pop into my head like OMG what have we done? is this a good idea? etc. then i argue with myself in my head! the positive wins eventually i'm def not as obsessive with being pregnant this time either. too busy most of the day with ds to dwell on it. keep talking about how you're feeling it can only help turn things around.

Due1stMay09 · 01/12/2008 11:27

Morning all!!
Had my hospital apt fri morning about my BP which i was really nervous about but it actually went really well, bp is still high but its gone down and i dont need tablets or to start maternity leave early!! I thought we would just be in and out and that they would just do my bp again and chat to the doctor there but we were ages! They did bp, then talked to the doctor for ages, she was really funny! I think she was chinese but i couldnt really understand her so me and my partner were just laughing, she was saying "Bring your man in..very very important!" lol then she wanted me to have a scan "to see how junior was growing"!!! lol we didnt even realise we were having a scan, but cant believe how much its grown!!! Its so cramped in there now compared to before and its got really chunky fingers! She was going "BIG BIG baby, going to be over 8lbs, long legs like its dad!" lol we couldnt stop laughing! She said "Ive never seen such a wriggly baby!" She said it was lying in the wrong position to see the sex but all i heard was "see the sex" so i was like "Nooooooo!!! We dont want to know!!!!" haha i suddenly panicked and thought she was going to tell us what it was, although im now pretty sure its a boy!! Weve even started saying he all the time now, but who knows!!
Cant believe im 19 weeks this week. Cant wait to get pictures at the scan on the 16th Dec!!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, its taken me ages to catch up on the posts! And hope everyone and bumps are well

FiKelly · 01/12/2008 12:00

Morning girls

Back from my 16wk midwife check and now know what my LO heartbeat rate is.... it was ranging between 135-145. So according to that it's another boy?! We'll hopefully be able to find out for sure on the 23rd dec when I have my 20wk scan. So for the moment only LO knows for sure ;)

MsG · 01/12/2008 12:16

Hi everyone. Due1stMay09, glad your appointment went well - sounds like it was entertaining!

I got a bit worried last night after having a shower which was a bit hot and started thinking, is it bad to have hot showers or just hot baths... I feel better now after posting in Pregnancy about it and looking online a bit.

It makes you really anxious, though, doesn't it?!

pulapula · 01/12/2008 12:30

Due1stMay- glad your appointment went well and that you had a memorable time with the doctor. In my experience, big hands = boy (my DS had giant hands, so big that when he came out and whilst we were in hospital, all the hospital staff commented on them!). We will see if my guess is right when junior is born!

I've had 2 8lb+ babies, so 8lbs doesn't sound particularly big to me lol.

divedaisy · 01/12/2008 12:34

Good Afternoon - god I nearly wrote 'morning'... well it was morning when I started to catch up on the last 8 pages!!

HtH - I had a heart problem years ago which gave me very fast, strong palpitations - the worst was a heart rate of over 300 per minute!! I had surgery to fix it and really haven't had a problem since... until I got pregnant! Now I am getting regular short runs of palpitations - they can be that strong it catches in my throat and makes me cough. I will have to say to MW today about it.

agooboo - congratulations on a girl! Oh I keep looking at pink and thinking of girls names... we will hopefully find out on New Years Eve at my 20+ week scan.

Spangle - hope you are taking things easy, but glad you and your bump are OK.

Nikki etc - IMO you need to talk this over with your GP/MW. Did you ever have PND with your first? This is my second viable pregnancy and to be honest I don't think about the pregnancy as much as I did with no1. It kinda ticks along and every now and then I remember - Oh yes I'v a baby there - how are you?? A few times I have thought negatively about it - life would be easier without no2 etc, but that's really not how I feel - I want this one so much. I have been referred back to see my psychotherapist by my consultant, I am pleased I have the opportunity to speak things over. The hardest thing is trying to explain to someone HOW you feel - just blurt it out, or write it down and give it to them to read. remember we're here for you too. go easy on yourself. all these thoughts are ok, and its better to acknowledge them than hide them away and pretend everything's ok when it;s not... big hug xx

we had our village Christmas lights switched on Fri night - followed by a firework display - gorgeous and christmassy!!!

DS and I put up our Christmas tree yesterday. He chose it on Friday, was delivered on Sat and insitu and decorated on Sun!! Our house now looks all cosy!

I have my MW appointment today - I will see if I can find out HR.

Was at a BMX competition on Sat night - some of the UK pro riders were over - freeking amazing what these guys can do! It was awesome! Fantastic night... though I had to drive home and it was -3C.

Sorry for long post! xx

Oh - any one else waken with a normal sized tummy and by night time have a belly explosion? I look about 2 years preg by 5pm!!!

OP posts:
pulapula · 01/12/2008 12:49

Yes divedaisy, my bump can be almost non-existent in the morning, but giant in the evening- still a bit too wobbly for my liking though!

Due1stMay09 · 01/12/2008 12:51

pulapula - thats interesting about the big hands, as i said - im thinking it is a boy, but will just have to see, will be happy with boy or girl!

8lbs is not big at all..what im thinking is, i was 9lbs 2oz and my fiance was 8lbs 9oz..sooo... lol.
I cant see him being small but he could suprise us!!

divedaisy · 01/12/2008 13:23

Due1stMay09 - my ds was 7lb 4oz when born - and i was induced 3 weeks early! It makes my eyes water to think what I could have gone through 3 weeks later if he'd been on time!! - for a big push (not for being angry!!)

OP posts:
Due1stMay09 · 01/12/2008 13:33

divedaisy - blimey!!! makes you think doesnt it?!

Im a bit nervous, almost half way there now but i cant wait!

SpangleMaker · 01/12/2008 13:34

Due1stMay & FiKelly glad your appointments went well.

Detsy & MsG sorry to hear about the tummy bugs. A friend of mine has had a few bugs in her pregnancies & always been advised baby will be fine, just mum that suffers, but it doesn't stop it being worrying.

Nikkie hope you're feeling a bit better today.

Momino cooking 'Christmas' lunches is a stressful business. I do generally enjoy it but am v glad to get out of cooking this year as we're going round to BIL/SILs. Actually DH wasn't bothered, even though we haven't seen his family on Xmas day for 2 years now, he said he'd rather be here with my Mum + her DH or even just us. But I insisted because I fancy a year off

I'm working at home today. Even though everything was fine yesterday & no reason to be found for bleeding, I did wonder if it was linked to me having a really busy week last week (or maybe pushing heavy trolley round Sainsburys?) & was maybe a sign to take things a bit easier. Feeling so much better today for not having to get up at 6.15am & scrape ice off the car etc - think it was the right thing to do.

pulapula · 01/12/2008 13:38

Divedaisy- yes, my DS was similar, cs 1 week early and 8lb 4 - they say they can gain about .5 lb per week at the end. DD was 8.12 - born 1 week late. Although I am getting a bump I think it is mostly through all the food I have been scoffing rather than particularly big baby.
