Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SpangleMaker · 28/11/2008 23:30

Fi that's the sensation I have, just as you've described, so maybe it is LO after all.

detsy I've emailed you

off to bed now, night all x

agooboo · 29/11/2008 08:52

Fi have been mad on cheese/dairy and at one point was eating about 3 apples a day. But mainly noticed that this time my boobs are much bigger much sooner than they were with DSs and also had some spotting early on that I never had with them. Don't know if that's anything to go by.

They didn't serve S+V chipsticks in the restaurant! Was a bit of a nightmare trying to choose something tbh. Choices were pretty much fish (don't like too much) beef or pigeon. urgh pigeon! Had a lovely evening though.

Anyone got their Christmas tree up yet? I really want to go and get one but wondering if it is too early?!

spangle for me I feel movements more as bubbles popping, some are fluttery but def like popping sensations.

FiKelly · 29/11/2008 09:58

ooo agooboo we'll hopefully find out if girl/boy at 20wk scan 23rdec. my dh says my boobs did the same. not long to go to see if there's anything in our cravings

CoteDAzur · 29/11/2008 10:03

agooboo - What "three lines" was your doctor talking about re determining sex at 12 week scan?

CoteDAzur · 29/11/2008 10:05

Also, could everyone write their babies' heartrates and sex (if known)? It would be interesting to see if heartrate over 160 really means girl and heartrate under 145 really means boy.

DD had 170 bpm or so
This one has 135, and apparently a boy

So it works for me

joyfuleyes · 29/11/2008 10:52

DD - 160s - girl
DS - 140s - boy
this one - 145.

This is probably a stupid question but how do you know heartrates? Do you have to ask?

llareggub · 29/11/2008 12:32

I wondered that too. Maybe different areas have different policies regarding ante-natal checks. I'm going to ask when I see my consultant next week.

EmmalinaC · 29/11/2008 12:40

Oh ok, just found it on report from CVS

Heart rate = 167 and it's definitely a girl - they've counted her chromosomes!

agooboo · 29/11/2008 15:37

cote The 3-lines sign denotes the labia and vagina in the feotus - it is a very valid and accurate indication of the female gender. Have a look on google images. There is a lot of info about it on there.

CoteDAzur · 29/11/2008 16:46

agooboo - Male and female genitalia look exactly the same at 12 weeks. It is the "angle of dangle" that permits determination of sex at this point.

Watch this video. This is the ultrasound specialist at our hospital and apparently a bit of an authority in the field. Video is in French, but pictures speak for themselves. Watch from 3:40 onwards.

12 SA = 12 semaines d'amenorrhee = 12 weeks of "no periods", from 1st day of last period.

3:44 shows two virtually identical pictures. The one on the right is a girl fetus at 12 weeks, and the one on the left is a boy fetus of same age. (That is why I asked: "What is the "3 line sign" your sonographer was talking about?)

4:00 onwards there is a short but interesting animation of how this identical part turns into female or male genitalia over the following weeks of a fetus' life. The same point becomes clitoris in a girl and tip of the penis in a boy. Fascinating!

CoteDAzur · 29/11/2008 17:10

I did Google out of curiousity, and found this website you have copied your last post from. It seems to be talking about those lines being more reliable from 20 weeks onwards.

If you scroll down, your source talks about genital tubercle angle being used as "an accurate method" for diagnosing sex at 12 week scan, which is what I was trying to say with "angle of dangle" in previous post.

Sorry if this is boring everyone. I've been a little obsessed with these things since last scan.

CoteDAzur · 29/11/2008 17:13

So heart rates appear to support the theory that:
165+ bpm >> girl
145- bpm >> boy

Interesting! Especially since this bump's heartrate was around 135 bpm even at first scan at 8 weeks. And it is confirmed as a boy at 12 week scan.

agooboo · 29/11/2008 17:45

cote they do look same at 12 weeks - I'm 15 weeks so a bit more clear by now.

agooboo · 29/11/2008 17:49

I'm just going on what I was told by the sonographer.

CoteDAzur · 29/11/2008 19:17

Sorry, I didn't mean to be obnoxious. Also thought that was your 12 week scan. So will shut up now

FiKelly · 29/11/2008 20:43

feeling v nauseous again i have my 16wk midwife app on mon so i might find out heartbeat rate then.. none of my scan stuff seems to have a obvious number on it.

wasn't v hungry at dinner but getting the urge to go and make popcorn..

bekkaboo · 29/11/2008 20:55

Got me thinking now, at my 10 weeks early vialbility scan the heartbeat was 165, does this mean girl? or generally faster earlier on? Noone told me at 12 week scan

FiKelly · 29/11/2008 21:38

yay popcorn did the trick.. not feeling sick now.

Jael · 29/11/2008 22:52

Everytime I've asked what the heartrate is, they won't tell me, they just say "hmm it's normal"

Jael X

FiKelly · 29/11/2008 23:04

FiKelly · 29/11/2008 23:28
