And on we go!!

Yes, my hair is nice and thick and shiny.

I am also finally seeing some growth in the boob area. Gone from tiny 36A to a more reasonable 36C. Last time I went up to 36DD so hoping this will continue as its nice to experience bigger boos even if its only temporary!

We went back to the dark ages today... we've had no power since 2.30pm. I had loads of errands to do so DS & I went out for the afternoon. SWEB assured me they would have it back on for 4pm... then 5pm... at this point we decided to go out for tea. My parents live in the apartment below us and they're quite elderly & everything is electric in their kitchen.

So we all bundled into the car and DS had his 1st evening meal out. He ate a bit of everyones meals and was really good despite us not being home until after his usual bed time. There was no bath for him when we got home either as the power was still off at 19.30pm. We warmed his milk on the gas hob, snuggled up in our big bed & did stories by candle light.

He happily went off to his own bed about an hour ago and was very quickly sound asleep.... with him going to sleep late there's a real chance I'll get a lie in tomorrow am

With nothing else to do I decided to start crocheting DS a christmas stocking... after filling the lounge with candle light it had quite a tranquil & other worldly ambience. DH went round to a friends nearby to get some hot water bottles and flasks filled for my parents to keep them going until SWEB's next expected time to fix the power at 20.30pm. Luckily they didn't have to book into a hotel as suddenly our power came on a few mins ago. There was no way they'd have managed without heating or light if it had carried on much longer & we would have been taking them to the local hotel for the night.

So we're now back in the 21st century and I'm really enjoying having a lovely hot cuppa :O

The list was pretty quick really- a bit of processing in excel then into word - weekly updates should be easy too as i will just need to add a week onto each date. Just need to remember to do it!

ooh you are cleverfi - I wish I knew how to crochet (or knit even). Am utterly hopeless at that kind of thing.
Am off to bed in a minute - need to clean the kitchen first, Dh is languishing with a 'man-cold' and being pathetic so I'd better fill him with nurofen first. Have just cracked open the Gaviscon - first time this pregnancy.......I always get terrible heartburn when pg and was waiting (with dread) for it to arrive. Well, now it's here and horrible. Had fish and chips followed by a banana for dinner - and got horrendous heartburn as a result. Gaviscon is only marginally better -makes me gag! I like Rennies best but we don't have any at the moment. Must remember them tomorrow

By the way, have been discussing the amnio question with DH tonight (he brought it up!!!!!!!)
and I THINK we have come to the conclusion that we need to do it for peace of mind. We understand the miscarriage risks but feel that for the good of our family we need to know whether all is well this time. Not pleasant but there we are.
So, it's on Tuesday. (I just checked the letter as thought it was Thursday....good thing I checked! Oops).
My pregnancy brain is a total Hazard.

Can I just ask, sorry if I sound naive Frazzle are you considering this amnio because you didn't get good results from the 16 wk blood test? And is that where you have an injection in your tummy? I don't know much about it sorry. I haven't had my results back from mine yet. Midwife said there's no need to worry as I'm so young, which I didn't really like her saying really, as there's still chances of "abnormalities" etc at any age.

Is it too late for me to join in? My baby is due on 31st May, I already have a DD who is now 13 months (will be 19 months when DC2 puts in an appearance).

I had just gone back to work when I found out that I was pg so I have barely had time to think about the lo, which I feel a bit guilty about actually as I had obsessed about DD for about 10 weeks by this point! Anyway, I've been off sick with a nasty virus for the last 3 days so I've got back into the mumsnet habit.

I too am looking forward to feeling some wriggles - I'm sure that I had felt DD by this time, but then she was a real wriggler who bounced around like a mad thing on her 12 week scan, where as this one lay there very serenely. I am already hoping that this might mean we're in for a more chilled out time this time (but that's probably a bit hopeful).

Hope you don't mind me crashing in at this late stage!

am so jealous over those feeling movements. Is anyone else who is due 1 May NOTfeeling anything? am 18 weeks today and a little worried. sat in bed quietly this morning trying to sense anything. Got excited as I thought I'd felt something but it turned out to be just my heart pulsing around my abdomen. at least Iknow I'm alive .

sweetbrody, i think you should be able to hear a heartbeat. Amazingly, my MW found a heartbeat at my 9/10week booking in.

Frazzle- I have also been bit by the heartburn bug and have been scoffing rennies when it gets real bad I'll be going to the doc and get some peptac as I can't stand gaviscon makes me gag.

Have just been for my 16 week doctor's appointment. Heard the baby and she had a good feel around, she says that feel more like 18 weeks than 16 weeks because of the size of my uterus and position e.t.c. I really don't think this is physically possible, anyone else had dates change like this? Can some babies grow quicker than others? I am pretty certain about when I ovulated e.t.c. All very bizarre. She has also recommended I have a blood est to check for anaemia and things as I have a very high heartrate (100) and have funny palpitations sometimes - anyone else suffered this?

I think that scans (around 12 weeks) are the most accurate way to date the pg so I would ignore your MW, especially if you have a regular cycle as although I know its possible to get pg when on your "monthly" most people will ovulate 14 days before their period starts.

No fast heart-rate here- usually around 70.

Momino- i wouldn't worry about not feeling movements- don't think i did with DD until 21 weeks and with DS til 18 or 19 weeks. Although with DD it was only once I knew what it felt like, that i realised i probably felt the odd movement at around 19 weeks.

Hey-nice list- thanks! Bit confused as have finally updated my dates as per the scan, and she reckons I should be 16 weeks today, due 15 May.. yet Fi Kelly is due the same day and is 15+6. How odd. My maths is rubbish so don't know who's right. My own dates certainly said I should be 1 day behind what the sonographer put me at.. who knows?

Sorry to hear people are suffering from heartburn. Its horrid. Only seem to get it if I eat vast quantities of cheese/chocolate myself... but they are sposed to be heartburn triggers if you're a bit susceptible.

HtH don't know about fetal growth speeding up so to speak... maybe a gynae/obstetrician would be able to be more accurate than a GP I guess they're generalists at the end of the day..? Hope the palpitations ease off a bit.

HtheH - my midwife last time couldn't tell which way up the baby was, even when she'd been told she was breech I'd stick with the scan dates if I was you.

It also turned out that I was slightly anaeminc during my first pregnancy but they forgot to give me the results of the blood test so nothing was done about it. From the research we did at the time, it seems that its a problem for the mother rather than the baby and the main symptom is tiredness. It didn't cause me any particular problems. I've had palpitations my whole life but I don't know whether its connected.

The heartburn hasn't kicked in for me yet but it was awful last time. My brother's pharmacist mate put me on to the Boots own heartburn remedy which is exactly the same chemical composition as Gaviscon. It dosen't taste any better I'm afraid, but it is cheaper.
