Welcome EstherOnions & babylanguagelearner - hope you both have very sticky beans!

First bit of nausea for me yesterday but thankfully not too bad yet! Cairns - I'll feel sorry for you if it will help!

nuttygirl · 09/12/2008 17:39

Moosecat - spots, yes, staring to get some here.

Cairns - I always found Coke/Pepsi helped my morning sickness. Last time round my diet for the first trimester was Pepsi & chipsticks all day then mashed potato and gravy for the evening meal .

This time round I seem to be craving popadums , poor dh is going to be well known at the local takeaway

MichaelaS · 09/12/2008 17:39

Hello all, can I join please? I just got my first ever BFP at the weekend. Didn't quite believe it, but have done a test each morning since then and still BFP, no signs of AF, and am starting to feel nauseous so I'm getting very excited!

Internet says my EDD would be 13th August - excellent, summer baby just like me!

Other tips for morning sickness:

I used to keep a pack of plain biscuits next to the bed and would eat one before getting up.

Also you can get some ginger lollies to suck that are meant to be good, not tried them myself though.

An amber bracelet is meant to help.

Take a pack of biscuits with you when you go out so you always have something to nibble on.

I found it helped if I avoided tea.

nuttygirl · 09/12/2008 17:43

Welcome Michaela

BabyBump2B · 09/12/2008 18:16

Hi Michaela - glad you found us & welcome!

OonaghBhuna · 09/12/2008 22:28

Welcome Michaela. I have afternoon nausea, jelly legs at times, ( could be low BP) Feel hungover in the morning and really hormonal, I cried in work today Its been stressful. I only work part time ( 1.5days a week)

I eat little and often.

babylanguagelearner · 10/12/2008 01:51

is anyone else actually quite symptom-free? I say this not to rub it in for those of you who feel lousy, but it's a bit of a "grass is always greener" scenario isn't it ...

I had very few symptoms when pregnant with DS (no MS or anything, just tiredness) ... this time I feel totally normal, now in my 6th week. Trying not to worry too much, can't do anything about it anyway, but just thought I'd see if anyone else is in the same boat?

pussface · 10/12/2008 08:34

Morning all.

Hello EstherOnions, babylanguagelearner and MichaelaS congratulations on your BFPs!

babylanguagelearner my last pregnancy was symptom free, no ms, no heartburn, no constipation, no breathing problems I even could bounce around and do lots of things right up until the last month.

Apparently it's just the level of hormones you have that provide symptoms and some people have low levels like I did and have a ms free pregnancy, also a few members of my close family didn't get ms either.

Well everyone I thought it was too good to be true, I had some mild nausea yesterday afternoon after eating my lunch, the hormones are kicking in big time with this baby. I am super tired and have started going early to bed with dd.

I am also getting cramps in the area of my uterus, especially when I sit for too long in the same position, like a short car journey to the shops or when let dd sit on my lap so I am really going to have to be careful.

Is anyones tummy bloated up, I look 3 months pregnant already !

babylanguagelearner · 10/12/2008 08:41

thanks pussface, that is reassuring. I have to keep reminding myself that in my first pregnancy I was also feeling this normal too, but I somehow manage to convince myself that I MUST have had some symptoms that time I guess I'll just consider myself lucky at this stage, never know what might come around the corner.

I hope your symptoms ease off for you soon. Actually I think I can join you in the bloated tummy department ... and that is after a day of Christmas shopping rather than lazing around eating

pussface · 10/12/2008 08:51

Thanks...I can understand, I almost wanted symptoms first time round and this time I'm hoping that they'll just be mild, fingers crossed.

FaeriePrincess · 10/12/2008 09:42

Hi everyone! Wow, what a big list, excellent. Welcome everyone!!!

I had my booking appointment yesterday, fortunately the clinic let me make it straight with the MW, what a waste of time making people see a dr first!

She's given me an EDD of 3 August, so I'll just change my details in the list.

I have had mild nausea, but this morning I had fully fledged MS and feeling feint and weak, which was odd for me because with DS1 I would start to feel slightly off mid morning, and it would gradually get worse and I would feel awful by the evening. My all day sickness also didn't end until I was 4 1/2 months.

Feeling a bit sorry for myself, as still feeling nauseous and ready to bolt to the loo at any moment, and while I was cleaning myself up after last time my DS found the coffee plunger and spilt coffee on the lounge carpet .

He's been sick for the last month, and the dr has given him a 2nd dose of penicillin, and has instructed me to give 4 doses of calpol a day, and 3 doses of ibuprofen to reduce the pain from his ear infection - poor little baby! I've also been sick, as he's been happily passing everything onto me (have avoided medication apart from paracetamol becaus I suspected I may be pg), and dr said to keep him home from nursery (goes 2 days a week to give me a break, and started just over a month ago so has been away more than he has been there) because his immunity is so low .

Oh, and I'm also in the over 35s club - I'm 38 at the moment!

Adding MichaelaS's details as well!

Ooh, this full blown MS is the pits. On one of my frantic visits to the 'loo', my darling little DS came up an patted me ever so gently on the back. How sweet !. Course then he decided to behave like a right little bugger for the rest of the morning. Knows when mum hasn't got the energy/ability to keep him in line!

It's now officially afternoon - fingers crossed this awful nausea fades .....

bluesatinsash · 10/12/2008 12:50

Hey all and welcome EstherOnions, babylanguagelearner and MichaelaS! babybump2b - I was full of energy when I fell pg with DS, I'm not a morning person but used to jump out of bed...well until I hit week 7 and the ms kicked in... Of course this time round i'm a tired Mum two boisterous toddler so no jumping out of bed but I am waking earlier (sometimes before DS )!

My ms has introduced itself , was sick yesterday although think that was due to not eating then eating too much at the one sitting. Have low feeling of nausea today with 'tight' feeling at back of throat but OK as long as I eat regularly. With DS I lived on salty chips with more salt!!

Sticky thoughts to us all!

bluesatinsash · 10/12/2008 12:52

to not two

LittleFairySmile · 10/12/2008 13:06

Hi everyone, including the newbies.

FaeriePrincess so sorry to hear about your poor DS.

I am ms free and feeling really worried. I got ms with DS and with the one I lost this summer, and really feel nervous because I have no symptoms! Took another test today just to see if I really was pg. It was a BFP, so we shall see.

nandos · 10/12/2008 13:20

Hi everyone sorry for not updating the list for so long but now i've updated it after i went for a scan today and they measured around 6 1/2wks and theres a flicker of heartbeat so looks like beanie is staying strong
faerieprincess and bluesatin, its a real pain having MS isnt it, always feeling sick..but hey i heard it also means beanie is growing well? u can see im a first timer here
little fairy, MS might hit you anytime so be careful i had a MMC as well in may and had no symptoms till 10wks and i mc after that.
i hope all of you are well and hope to get to know the rest better..

bluesatinsash · 10/12/2008 14:36

oooh nandos about you getting an early scan, great news that bean's heart was beating away ..

littlefairy - fret not about (lack of)symptoms (easier said than done I know as I'm fretting daily!!). Everyone 'in the know' I speak to says each pg is different so try not to compare. I'm just trying to go with my gut instinct about how things are...

Picante · 10/12/2008 16:17

Hi all, can I tentatively join?

I got a BFP on Sunday which was a complete surprise as I was supposed to be having a month off from ttc as I didn't want an August baby!!

Only did the deed once and now I'm due August 15th!

Have one DS who is 2.7 and have had 2 mcs since starting ttc 2 years ago.

Let's hope I stick around here for a while!

SpecialOffer · 10/12/2008 19:21

Welcome Picante, congratulations - it only takes the once!!

Ooh nandos glad to hear the scan went well, I would love to see my little bean right now.

FaeriePrincess - when my ds started nursery he was also off more than he was there - it does get better I promise! Ear infections are the worst - my ds always has them.

Well I have been feeling sick all the time and tired, and don't want my morning coffee anymore !!!! However when I am feeling my sickest my ds clambers up onto my tummy and bounces - mmmmmm

I think I might find this pregnancy slightly harder than my first - grrr

Well glad to hear all of you are well - wishing the weeks away until my scan. However had a dream I was expecting quads - mmm - woke up in a tizz trying to figure out what pushchair to get???

LittleFairySmile · 10/12/2008 20:25

LOL SpecialOffer over quads dream! How scary?!?

Saw Dr today, who said 'congratulations', wrote my EDD from LMP down and sent me on my merry way! Well wasn't that good use of our Dr time?!

hippyme · 10/12/2008 20:44

Hello everyone, hope i can join the August babies thread? 6 weeks as of today and I'm due 4th August 09.

And at the moment I'm trying to work out a way of fooling my colleagues at the Christmas party... and i used to love my wine! hmmm tricky one?

nuttygirl · 10/12/2008 20:49

Welcome to the new people!

Lol @ quads and picking a pushchair...not sure I'd ever leave the house if I had quads

We've been interviewing doulas and think we've chosen one. I know it's early but it's been tricky finding people who are free around my due date even though it's still so early . Now having problems explaining the concept of a doula to my mum .

BabyBump2B · 11/12/2008 00:10

Welcome picante and hippyme!

Nandos I too am of your scan. I'm climbing the walls having to wait! I've had some cramping which makes me a wee bit anxious but I'm trying not to worry. That said, every twinge, cramp, gas, etc makes me worry right now!

babylanguagelearner · 11/12/2008 04:04

Hi all, hope everyone is feeling ok.

well, perhaps I am just looking for symptoms, but boy did I have my cranky-pants on this morning while trying to finish off my Christmas shopping! I know, you'll tell me that moodiness is a symptom of shopping for christmas presents with a I-don't-want-to-be-here-toddler! But I do seem to be having a few mood swings lately so am claiming that as a pregnancy symptom

nandos, great news on the scan. I am having one next week because the Dr will be away on hols when am supposed to have it around 10wks. The whole process is a bit different for me this time as DS was born in UK, and I had midwife care throughout and loved the whole experience (well, there was a bit at the end I didn't love so much, but it is too early to be discussing that sort of thing!). Am a bit wary of being seen by a male OB this time, I almost wish I was back at UCH so that i knew what to expect

that said, I think I'll need that scan next week to convince me there really is a little bean in there!

hope you all have a good day.

x bll
