Almost no symptoms today It's been going kind of like this - feeling great in the morning then gradually worse and worse until I'm sicky and asleep by 6pm, but still worrying a bit! Will see how it goes for the rest of the day: starting to feel like I'm hallucinating the whole thing.

FaeriePrincess · 11/12/2008 07:20

Welcome Picante and Hippyme. Great news on the scan Nandos. I'm so over the early scan.

Yesterday's MS lasted until I went to bed, I'm afraid. I felt awful all day.

Woke up this morning feeling ever so much better, so quickly ate some toast while feeling good, and now the MS symptoms are starting but at least I've got some food in me!!!

Zorra - that is the way I felt through the pregnancy for DS - felt fine in the morning, and gradually felt worse as the day went on. DH had to fend for himself at dinner time because I couldn't bare the thought of preparing food.

SpecialOffer - my Dr was saying that they've found that ear, nose and throat infections will happen for some people because they don't have the immunity to fight them as well, but that over the years they develop it. She also said that it's been found to be genetic - I always got tonsillitis, and my DH used to get ear infections so my poor DS looks like he's inherited both

Hi
Can I join? Got my BFP on Sunday and confirmed by a blood test on Tuesday.
My expected due date is around the 17th of August.
It will be my first, and I'm in France - so having to negotiate the French medical system and feeling a teensy bit overwhelmed. (I've already had to choose my maternity hospital!)
So far my only symptoms are enormous boobs and period-pain type cramps.

HeinzSight · 11/12/2008 09:27

congrats chocolatine. I love your name!!

period type cramps are totally normally by the way, just in case you're worried

Thanks Heinzsight (and thanks for putting me on the list)!
I'd read in one of my shiny new pregnancy books that it was nothing to worry about - but it's always nice to hear it again!

nuttygirl · 11/12/2008 11:13

I'm so tired today. dd isn't sleeping well and we're not quite sure why but it means that I've had v little sleep especially as even when she's not awake & crying I'm having difficulty sleeping. Anyway it's dh's work xmas party on Sat so should get a decent night's sleep then while my parents babysit .

Oh and I've won a 2 night break for 2 in a Scottish castle . Don't know details yet but couldn't believe I'd won! So that cheered me up.

pussface · 11/12/2008 12:02

Hello to all newcomers, congratulations on your BFP's!

nandos great news on your scan, I'm so I probably won't see my bean until mid Jan, fingers crossed.

Congratulations nuttygirl on your Scottish castle win!

Spent yesterday in bed and probably will today, as I have a stinking head cold, low blood pressure and nausea. What a lovely combination

Sympathy to all other sufferers of ms and colds out there. I am eating little and often to prevent being sick and it seems to be working so far. My only consolation is that sickness is a good sign.

Don't worry non sufferers though, I didn't have any ms or nausea in my last successful pregnancy. Although it's nice not to be sick and it does make you slightly paranoid (I was not convinced I was pregnant until I heard the heartbeat!), it is pretty common in normal pregnancy and not a sure sign of any problems!

HeinzSight · 11/12/2008 12:50

pussface am also FULL of a cold, horrid. Hardly slept last night because I felt so ill

Re MS with DS1 I had no sickness whatsoever
with DS2 it kicked in at about 7 weeks and was all day sickness until about 12 weeks
with DD I had evening sickness

So I guess what I'm saying is every pregnancy is different

pussface · 11/12/2008 13:18

HeinzSight I think you are right, I've heard many people say that every pregnancy is different.

Just trying to summon the strength to make some lunch for dd now. I feel so pathetic, wish my mum was here to tuck me up in bed and bring me chicken soup, unfortunately she lives about 300 miles away.

I'm going to get dd some food and then back to bed. Bye

HeinzSight · 11/12/2008 16:45

Oh blow, moan moan moan, my back is KILLING me already. Am hoping this is just a one off. I have problems with my joints and pregnancy always makes it worse, but to have started at 5 weeks is not good!

nandos · 11/12/2008 16:50

hey ladies..hope all of you are feeling well
no ms for me today but feeling faintish and dh helped in my cooking cos' i felt so dizzy..
for those who feeling of my scan, pls dont be was worried sick something had happened and the morning before scan, my stomach was flat like a cardboard so i thought something went wrong but it turned out ok also cos' i had previous mcs so this one is just an assurance scan .
im sure if you drop by at the epu, they'll give you an immediate scan for assurance if you really wish to know.
just a quick qn, is it normal for bbs not to grow much/not sore enough since they found out they're pregnant? mine havent yet and im starting to worry

bluesatinsash · 11/12/2008 19:12

Welcome Picante, Hippyme and chocolatine!

I'm a fellow "feel fine on waking but gradually get worse as day goes on...". I'm now in my jammies with DH in charge of DS as I'm totally knackered.

Got my work night out tomorrow but already told them I'm not drinking as I'm still recovering from last week's chest infection (which is true but not the reason obviously - ahh 'tis so cloak and dagger at this stage ). I will so be the one falling asleep in my soup!

nuttygirl - ooh I wonder what Scottish Castle?

nandos - with DS my boobs grew a wee bit initially and then that was it, I never got massive melons even when bfeeding. Same seems to be happening this time although they are tender if touched..

x

hippyme · 11/12/2008 19:17

Thanks for the welcome faerieprincess,

I'm really jealous of those of you having scans... I'm not sure how I'm going to get through the next 6 weeks, time is a standing still for me right now!

I also haven't been confirmed pregnant by my doctor... should I have been? When I called the doctors they directed me straight to the midwife who signed me up for a group meeting with lots of other expecting people where we were given info and a form to fill for the scan appointment!? hmmm very odd - will check that one out, money saving exercise me thinks?

This is my first pregnancy, so I will probably be super neurotic! On that note can I ask has anyone elses brains gone to mush?

FaeriePrincess · 11/12/2008 21:32

Mush brain? Oooh, both my hands are up!!!

I was making the silliest mistakes when preparing dinner yesterday, had friends over so needed to get something done! (You dip the chicken in the egg mix, then in the bread crumbs, don't put the bread crumbs into the milk....let alone the breadcrumbs that flew out of the blender all over the counter... )

Don't worry about not having the pregnancy confirmed by the Dr, the home pregnancy tests are very reliable and if that's how you have confirmed your pregnancy, they don't tend to redo it at the clinic.

CheekymonkeysGreatestHits · 11/12/2008 21:57

Hi I did a test last night and would like to join the club! I knew the consequences(SP?!?) but i'm still scared

diginglebells · 11/12/2008 22:04

Just popped in to say hi to babybump2b it's DigitalGirl - and congrats to all those expecting in August. My August-born DS is now 15 weeks and sleeping peacefully in his cot upstairs (for now!), this time next year you'll have a bonny 4 month old baby for Christmas!!

CheekymonkeysGreatestHits · 11/12/2008 22:12

Ohhhhhhhh,i've got goosebumps now

BabyBump2B · 11/12/2008 22:38

Hi Cheeky Monkey (great name btw) - welcome!

Hi DigitalGirl wondered where you got to! DS is toooooooo cute for words!

Nuttygirl - ooh a castle how romantic!

Ok - I know I'm probably just being silly but I'm having a lot of cramping on my left side. Its not excruciating just slightly worrying. I'm booked in to see Dr on Monday for something else - should I just wait and bring it up then? I don't want to be that woman who worries about everything in her first pregnancy and always runs to the Dr but I also don't want to miss something important...

diginglebells · 11/12/2008 22:57

BB2B Am on the post-natal Sep 08 thread confusingly, as DS was due on 23rd Sep but came 31st Aug. BTW if your cramping gets worse and you get any shoulder tip pain, then call your midwife and get a scan ASAP to rule out an ectopic.

anniecam38 · 12/12/2008 09:08

Morning everyone and welcome to all the new BFP,s. Hope everyone well, i havent been on here for a few days as mad busy at work and in bed by 8.30pm on a night. I seem to be getting away quite lightly as regards MS at the moment(hope i havent spoke too soon....). I feel quite quesy at about 4pm ish, but no actually sickness. My boobs are MASSIVE and so sore. I feel permanantly hungover as well!

Ive got my booking in appointment with my midwife on Tuesday, and hopefully she may have a date for me for my early scan.

Glad its the weekend again and can hopefully have a lie in for a couple of mornings if DS will actually let me, what normally happens is DH gets up with him, goes downstairs and sorts out breakfast then DS ends up coming upstairs and pestering talking to me and poor DH is sat downstairs by himself .

MichaelaS · 12/12/2008 10:06

hello all, and welcome to cheekymonkeys and anyone else joining (sorry if i've missed anyone)

right, need to rant... I am 5+1 today and had my first proper nausea attack when I woke up this morning. had to lie on my back so I wasn't sick, and was convinced i'd need to run to the bathroom. so, i'm fishing for sympathy with the DH and he's being very non-commital. I realise he's been non-commital since we found out last weekend. So, I asked him why he seemed to be less excited about the pg that I was.

he said that he's not really sure it's happening, the tests looked pretty faint and people don't usually tell anyone until their 3 months in, so he doesn't really believe its happening. (paraphrasing here).

it's our first and we've been trying for 6 months now so I thought he wouldnt' be suprised when we actually fell pg. I can't believe he is in denial - part of me thinks its sort of sweet, but most of me is annoyed that he thinks i'm making it up!

I did 4 tests on 4 consecutive days - the first was so faint that i didn't know if it was positive or not, the second was also faint but positive, but by the third day it was definitley positive. Those were all internet cheapies, and on the fourth day I got a first response one just to make sure, and it was absolutely positive. I think he is worried that the first line is lighter than the second, but the box says that's normal and its still positive if you can see 2 lines.

aaargh, what can i do with him?

I'm going to the doctors on tuesday so hopefully they will confirm it and he'll start believing it. Do you think I should take him with me? Anyone else getting this from their DP / DH?

nuttygirl · 12/12/2008 10:40

MichaelaS - I think that, first time round, although my dh believed I was pregnant and could see I was feeling sick it didn't really feel real for him until I had the scan and he could see it was real iykwim. I think that the men don't really get how much your hormones and body is changing at the moment, so it's probably not really a case of he doesn't believe the tests but more that it doesn't yet feel 'real'. I found that telling dh how he could help me helped (men can be pretty useless at knowing how to help) so I would say to him "Can you bring me a biscuit in the morning to nibble before I get out of bed?", "Can you sort the broccolli out?" (had an aversion to broccoli first time round - couldn't go near it or touch it )

For anyone interested this is the castle www.broomhallcastle.com/index.html I don't kow any details about when I can go yet though or whether dd can come too.

Anyway I have my parents visiting today for the weekend so dh & I can go to his work xmas party on Sat. Might not be on again til after the weekend!

moosecat1 · 12/12/2008 11:33

hi all, glad to see a wide variety of symptoms. I have developed a sense of smell a sniffer dog would be proud of, which has resulted in an adversion to car exhaust and parsnips!
Generally feeling queasier by late afternoon.
It's dh's Christmas party tonight, not really wanting to go but I am the designated driver given current condition but at least it's a good excuse why I'm not drinking.
MichaelaS- my dh always insists on a couple of tests, I think it's a man thing !

BumpVLump · 12/12/2008 12:40

hello all,
just wanted to vent a bit here.
Had an awful few days.
Got some nasty BRIGHT red bleeding on monday and eventually ended up in a and e and four hours later got a scan.
I had a missed MC four months ago so, in all honesty was expecting the worst...so delighted to see little heartbeat on bean and my man burst into tears he was so shocked!
bleeding has (pretty much) stopped and I have been told to REST so taken time off work but still really worried. I am having another scan on 18th to see if I have pregressed so I have everything crossed till then!
Really struggling with the all day MS. So hard to keep anything down and I feel just dreadfull, I do hope this will gbet better...
Never had a pregnancy go this far, at 7.5 weeks now but gutted to think I still have ages to till I get into second trimester 'safer' time.
Anyone else ever had a 'threatened miscarriage' ??
