Well, its now Feb so guess I have to work up the courage and join you for real, though I have been lurking every day anyway! Will be 12 weeks on the 10th Feb which is also when I have my scan etc though I've had a scan every 2 weeks since 6 weeks so I feel thoroughly poked and prodded as it is! I've had a lot of bleeding from a hematoma which is still there but getting smaller Last Saturday saw baby jumping around and measured 4.4cm which at 10.5 weeks is pretty good. Strong heartbeat too.

I'm also taking Solgar pre-natal, I have taken their Female multi vit one for a couple of years and they're definitely the best for not upsetting delicate tums. No real pregnancy symptoms yet, but then didn't have any with DD who is 3 now. In maternity jeans already though, which I wasn't in til 6 months with DD! Giant boobs too, which as a normal 34 AAA is a massive plus point! Anyway hope al is going well with you all, sorry for the giant post-making up for lost time I suppose! (Such a coward!)

olivo · 04/02/2009 15:59

hello everyone, and welcome, May

I feel so behind everyone else - my scan isnt for another 2 and a half weeks - i'll be 13 weeks - this isnt too late for a nuchal is it? I'd hoped it might be the week before, because what if my dates are wrong? Really needing the reassurance of a scan right now!

symptoms are easing off a bit, thanks to my acupuncture hopefully. not sure if can hide my buldge for another three weeks, till i can tell everyone!!

nuttygirl · 04/02/2009 17:26

Just popping in quickly.

Olivo - I think 13 weeks is fine for the nuchal scan but if you're unsure of your dates it might be worth ringing them and saying that to see if they can give you an earlier appointment if possible.

Last time round I got some cheap maternity stuff from ebay but I was lucky because I need short length trousers and there's less people bidding on those so got a really cheap deal.

I did get some more pants from Mothercare in the sale - £10.50 instead of £35. Not v good quality though - the two buttons that adjust the waist size have come off after one wear and the waist fastening button (iyswim!) is loose.

I'm lucky though that I don't need to buy any smart stuff so I'm not too fussy if stuff isn't great quality. Would rather save the money and use it on baby stuff.

Have a splitting headache but am hoping it'll be ok tomorrow, trying to take it easy!

Have been busy potty training dd. She's only 22 months but on Thursday last week suddenly started asking to sit on the toilet or the potty for a poo (she uses poo for wee or poo). Anyway, we've taken the bare bummed approach and she just goes and sits herself on the potty when she needs to. Just have to figure out how to get her to understand if she has trousers on that she needs to pull them down first .

BabyBump2B · 04/02/2009 17:57

HI All!

Thanks for your lovely comments about DH. We're starting to come round to the realisation of what it all means and hopefully he'll find something else soon.

I'm 13+3 today and starting to feel a bit better. May also be partially due to the fact that the sun has finally started to show itself here - I almost cried this morning when I saw the sunrise (may be hormones though)!

I've got some cheap-ish maternity but will be looking to consignment and ebay for the rest I think!

cairns · 04/02/2009 19:27

Hi all

Sorry not been on for a while have done a quick read for a catch-up. Congratulations on all of the fab scan news too! It is lovely to hear such good news.

Been busy as DS has had rotavirus which I think he picked up from playgroup which really sonked him out for a week, poor thing, then we managed to catch a milder form too, our house was smelling of roses last week...it was lovely.

Things are going well here 14wks I think, MS seems to be easing but not gone yet. I have also just 'popped' out and have a definite tum, although still feel fat, so have put my old maternity clothes on again, but will definitely invest in some new stuff. I use ebay but also some online stores such as funmum and crave who seem to always have a sale on.

Really sorry to hear about your DH BabyBump2B, not great timing. My Brother is going through the same at the mo so not been great either as we are v close.

Nuttygirl, potty training early wow, good luck. My DS also does the same thing with naming things, everything is 'poo poo' which is really confusing when I started to rely on it to change a poo nappy and kept finding nothing there.

Hawkmoth · 04/02/2009 20:17

Had my booking appointment today, which was lovely and lighthearted!

Zero risk factors - thank you ladies, it's nice not to be 'obese' this time.

Baby opening and closing mouth on the scan. Obviously takes after its father!

Bought some mat tops from the Dorothy Perkins sale, and some jeans from there, not in the sale. Waist has gone down a bit now that the old bowels have kicked back into action - what a relief!

LittleFairySmile · 04/02/2009 21:19

Hi all.

Thanks for clothes advice, def. in mat. clothes now but a lot of my stuff from DS seems to have grown legs and walked off, I only have two skirts and I want jeans! So I?m after cheap; funmum and the like still too dear. No Asda near me! Bother! Second-hand is fine by me, I have a washing machine! Will look on ebay!

DS head butted me today by accident and I feel like I?ve been punched by a prize-fighter! My head still feels likes it?s splitting open and it happened at lunch!

Hope all is well ladies.

Uki · 04/02/2009 22:43

hello everyone
I'm 15 weeks today, amazing when you think not far off half way

May welcome lurker

kitKat hows the back ? hope your feeling better.

definately showing look 4.5 months but trying hard not to dig out maternity clothes yet as they make you look even bigger.

I recomend ebay for clothes, especially if you find things no one else has bid on and wait till last minute, i even got a bunch of baby clothes for 80cents (i'm in oz)paid the lady $1 told her that was fine, but she sent me the 20 cents change

3rd Ob appointment on friday, i hope he has no trouble hearing hb this time.

better go ds all over me

kitkatqueen · 05/02/2009 00:23

Hi everyone - uki and heinz thanks for asking

I can honestly say that seeing osteopath today was the best £43.00 I have every spent!! Have been homeopathed, cricked and cracked to within an inch of my life!! LOL! Still have one vetebrae that will not move, but he won't do any more until he's seen full back xrays - obviously can't do them while pregnant, but he can use the ones I had done when I crashed my motorbike a while back, so going back next week. ( i'm not an accident waiting to happen honestly!)

Apparantly the very best time to go see an osteopath is when u r b'feeding because they can manipulate u more. Gives them the opportunity to correct things otherwise uncorrectable!

Feeling much better in the back dept. wooo hooo!!! but the kids are really pushing it since dp went away. dd1 is 5 and gets naughty stepped about once every 3 mnths today she got stepped 7 times since end of school.

Just hope i'm not 2 stiff 2morrow!!

Just hoping the kids get used to it fast!!

SpecialOffer · 05/02/2009 06:58

Littlefairysmile - Asda do a few bits online here My Asda don't do it in store.

Lets hope we are not all the same size, as we will be bidding against each other.....

lifesaboxochoccies · 05/02/2009 11:23

olivio i believe that the cut off date for the nuchal screening is 13 weeks + 6 days. i could be wrong though feel free to correct me people
I just seem to remember reading something about it somewhere recently.
kitkat glad you're feeling better and osteopath was of good use but it does sound bloody painful being cricked and cracked to within an inch of your life lol

May67 · 05/02/2009 12:49

Local charity shops sometimes have bits if you're prepared to rummage. It's a bit more money but ASOS.com have some lush stuff in their maternity section.

Glad to hear the back is better KitKat I struggle with one DD and a good back so medals for you with 3 DC!

We're snowed in here, having great fun, unfortunately we only live 10 minutes from DH's work so he had to go in booooo. DD is preparing a pile of snowballs to pelt him with when he gets home!

The best potty training thing we did was to buy a load of stickers from paperchase and blu tack up a sheet of paper beside the loo. We let DD stick one on for a number 1 and 2 on for a number 2. She had the hang of it in no time, she was about 26 months.

HeinzSight · 05/02/2009 12:53

LittleFairySmile, ouch at being headbutted!

kitkat, I'm so glad the osteopath was able to help. Goodness you had a motorbike accident, did you come out of that one OK? My DH had an awful one 2 yrs ago and it's left him with a paralysed arm

lifes, yes I think you're right about cut off for nuchal.

Specialoffer I'm jsut about to look at that Asda link you posted.

Well it's all snow snow snow today, both DSs schools closed so they're having lots of fun. DD wasn;t so sure about the snow this morning, it's the first time she's ever walked on it!

motherof2boys · 05/02/2009 14:46

hello - is it ok if I join too? Occurred to me to look at mn last night in attempt to find some info on raised fetal heart rate. Amazed to find nearly 1000 posts re Aug 09 babies!

Had 1st scan last week (at 11+1)(took 1.5 hours) -in my previous pgs (2 boys aged 5 on Sat and 6)the 1st scan took about 10 mins. I'm 38 but apart from the usual sickness etc have no probs and both my last pgs went well so don't know why they spent all that time looking at blood flows etc. Maybe they were testing out a new machine? So anyway right at end dr said that the heart rate was 181 which is above 95th centile so need rescanning tomorrow (12+1). Has anyone had this? Dr said that she didn't know what this would indicate. Now fearing all sorts of problems. Can't find anything on line but according to a book I had from pg1 the heart beat should be 160 at 12 weeks - the bigger the being the slower the beat.

Nuchal was ok I think. Also doing bloods. Due 20th August. Have not added self to list as beyond me technologically speaking I'm afraid.

If all goes well will have to change mn nickname...

Hawkmoth · 05/02/2009 15:50

Well been to doctor's today with my SPD back, which now has started to cause pain in the left of my pelvis too. Signed off for a week and seeing consultant then.

I'm quite concerned about being off sick this early and hoping against hope that they can do something that'll make me able to get to work, and work, without causing pain or damage.

To top it all, a rash I thought was a bit of cold weather eczema (sorry if I can't spell today!) on my daughter is an allergy, which is no fun for her or me. Not least cos I'll have to lay off the peanuts and prawns again!

nuttygirl · 05/02/2009 16:16

mo2b - sorry can't help but you'll probably get help if you do a thread in the pregnancy section (you might have done that already!)

Hawkmoth - Ouch @ spd. I sometimes wonder if I get it a little as my hips get sore if I walk a lot and I have trouble turning in bed at night. Hope they get you sorted out.

Thought I'd share this with you all. My doula sent me a link to a free book of natural birth stories. www.birthingbusiness.com/Book/giveaway.html It's just an online book that you download.

lea1980 · 05/02/2009 17:53

hi all....welcome to the newbies!!!

trecked to the hospital this morning for my 12 week scan. the midwives were soooo pleased to see us, they were saying they have so many cancellations this week they didnt think anyone would bother at all today! i would have made it to this scan even if it meant walking the 15 miles in the snow and ice!!!!!
anyway, all is well... as soon as the thingy (thats the technical name for it dont you know!!!) hit my stomach there was my baby!!!!
everything looks as if its in the right and baby is growing well and heart is pounding. according to measurements, i am 11 weeks today so i have had my edd altered to 27th august...the exact same date i was given for my son!! i shall update the list and ill add motherof2boys too!!

hope everyone else is well..roll on april for week 20!!!!

evening all. thanks for your reassurances about the nuchal - i phoned and said would it be in time at 13 weeks and they said yes, hopefully my dates are reasonably accurate.

am feeling quite a lot better so now really need to improve my diet - I've been eating utter crap since i've been being sick but time to get back to 5 a day and all that! although i still may make room for pickled onion monster munch - yum!

Hiya Heinz - I got away with it pretty lightly 2 b honest. I shattered the radial head of my r elbow so i've some nerve damage, I had a lot of bruising to bone and soft tissue cracked ribs etc, but the elbow is really the only thing that causes me much of a prob these days. I was lucky, very lucky. Still have bike but no idea if i will ever ride it now that I have the kids. I'm sorry about yr dh's arm. There isn't much u can say - my sister works in nuro physio and she see's a lot of bike accident patients with severe head injuries. I am just glad I got away with what I did, I was told at the time that if I had hit the car ( it pulled out)a ft to the left I would be dead and a ft to the right the driver and me would both be dead,. My back is loads better 2day gotta keep smiling and bloke is back from work!!! yay!!

hope everyone is ok, spk sn.
