HeinzSight · 31/01/2009 12:52

Thanks for all your message of support. Am hoping something comes up fairly soon for DH although it would be nice for him to have some time off, he's worked so hard and he's been through so much these past couple of yrs, long story.

I've got my nuchal scan on Tuesday, seems to have come round so quickly!

I was thinking of starting another vbac thread on mn, I did a search and there seems to be loads already but I guess I need to know what the general rules are or whether it's different rules for different hospitals.

nuttygirl · 31/01/2009 20:23

Heinz - I believe that like most things there will eb general policies that apply to all hispitals and then some hospital specific policies regarding VBAC. Bear in mind though that whatever these policies are you don't have to follow them - you have the right to choose where & how you give birth so long as you make an informed choice.

Not sure if I've posted this before (baby brain ) but I've been reading Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth and found it great. It's really interesting to read and made me feel a lot more positive about giving birth again (had horrible mw last time).

olivo · 01/02/2009 13:44

hello everyone, havent been on for a few days, bogged down in work and still feeling unwell. sorry to hear about redundancies, it must be a really worrying time.

I am really struggling at the moment, still no scan date- am ony just over 10 weeks but really need something to focus on. I am terrified of finding there's nothing there when i finally get my scan. It is putting a real dampner on things. i have ahd a couple of times where i really should have told work but we don't want to tell anyone till we are sure.

must get back to work

LittleFairySmile · 01/02/2009 14:23

kitkatqueen I?m glad you are going to sue, it?s your right to. And glad scan went well too!

LeninGrad my DH, as much as he loves DS, could never be a SAHD. He?s found the last month and a bit off work (redundancy) a bit much, and is looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. No movements yet, am !

HeinzSight I?d join you on a new VBAC thread!

nellyup Too much of a cheapskate to sign up for CAT. E-mail is dappernappies at yahoo dot co dot uk.

DH starts new job tomorrow. I?m hopeful it will be ok, but he?s got a one and half hour commute on a clear run, so IF he leaves on time (no over-time, or just asked to stay late, which he usually is) and there are no problems on the road, then he?ll be home for 7.30pm, after leaving at 7.30am. it?ll be a long day for all of us, and he won?t see DS much. Plus I?ve been going to bed after I?ve put DS down at night, so we?ll hardly see each other! But, he?s got a job so I have absolutely no right to complain.

2HotCrossBunsAnd1InTheOven · 01/02/2009 14:33

LittleFairySmile - glad your DH has got another job. With this last job DH had to be in the office from 8am til 7pm. He has a scooter and with a 20 min commute he didn't see that much of the DSs. More or less standard for London though and whatever he gets now will be no different. You do get used to it though and make it work for your family. Good luck to him - hope the job lasts!

We've been swimming this morning - there's nothing the boys love to do more on a Sunday morning! And it knackers them out so quiet time lasts at least 2 hours!

Hello to everyone else xx

thoughtforms · 02/02/2009 11:50

Bah! I had my booking in appointment today, but because of the snow, I called to check it'd still be happening, and no midwives have made it in - so I'm rescheduled for two and a half weeks time!

Still, I've got the nuchal scan two weeks today... let's hope for a nice sunny day for that one!!

Anyone else having snow troubles?

LittleFairySmile · 02/02/2009 14:48

Not trouble as such. My works was closed, so didn't need to go in. DH made it in, took well over 2 hours (he had left in good time as he knew it would be bad). He was 20 mins. early thankfully, but no-one else made it in, even the local ones, so after he got his computer login sorted and his boss phoned in, he was sent home.

At least it shows willing, and it was his first day, but 4 hours driving by the time he got home, for nothing really! Bah! Mind you, he is home now. But I'm off to sleep as DS is napping, so I will too. So tired!

Mellin · 02/02/2009 15:26

I'm stuck at home today because of the snow, but quite happy about it actually! DD's nursey is shut and so are the tube station closest to home. DH struggled in to work, but I am "working from home" today (aka checking work emails and making snowmen in the garden with DD).

SpecialOffer · 02/02/2009 15:58

Well I am snowed in, its my half of the week off, so I am usually at home today.

DH managed to get us a sledge so we went to our local park and had so much fun, ds not convinced by the sledge but loved the snow

Now I am all alone as DH has had to go into work as he is a police officer, not sure how he will get back tonight?????

BabyBump2B · 02/02/2009 19:52

Hi All!

Hope the snow isn't too much to deal with - can't really imagine London especially under all that snow. We still have snow from a month ago here - getting very sick of it!

Tough time here right now DH was let go this morning. Bit of a shock. And my company rolled back wages by 5% on Friday so am feeling very vulnerable and worried. Hopefully he can find something but things are quite thin on the ground.

Nothing really baby related to report. Felt quite good on Saturday - in fact the best I've felt since mid-September because I had pneumonia up till end of November when we got pg! Even managed to stay up til 1am. Although not so good yesterday and today - prob more stress related than anything!

HeinzSight · 02/02/2009 20:13

Not your DH too BabyBump , it's horrid isn't it.

OonaghBhuna · 02/02/2009 22:14

Babybump sorry to hear aout your husband.

I only feel sick when I am tired. My bump is noticeable now.I m hanging out over my jeans! Still in the process of telling people I am being rather slow about it, dont know why but I am.
Back to work tomorrow for the new semester so my students are in for a shock! They havent seen me since the beginning of Dec!

loopylou25 · 03/02/2009 08:23

sorry to hear all your bad news about job losses must be such a worry.

I definatley have a showing bump now not feeling half as sick mainly just in the evening. Glad to be stuck at home today school is shut. so can stay in the warm.
xxxxxxxx

HeinzSight · 03/02/2009 11:11

I've got my nuchal scan this afternoon, I'll come back and post later x

readyfornumber2 · 03/02/2009 15:22

Hi all not been on for a while!

Well I am 10+2 and finally got a scan date!
I had my booking in appointment 2 weeks ago and she said she would book my scan that day and that I would here the following week by post, fast forward 2 weeks later and no letter! She was also supposed to ring me to arrange next appointment and havent heard from her today and I also have no notes yet as she had run out when she saw me

So I rang today to find out what was going on and she is on holiday! I explained to the midwife who answered and she was lovely and booked my scan there and then for next tuesday and is coming to see me on saturday to bring me some notes and redo my booking appointment (hopefully the first midwife managed to send my bloods off as dont fancy repeating them unless I have to!)

Its nice to know that I am definately in the system now and I only have 7 days to worry until my scan now )I am more nervous this time than first time round lol)

Hope everyone is ok and that the weather isnt too much of a problem for you all x

valz · 03/02/2009 15:32

kitkatqueen · 04/02/2009 00:47

Hi everybody, Have not been posting lately am just hoping that osteopath will be able to help 2morrow!!

I have previously bought fab cheap maternity clothes online but the website seems to be down - will ring them and see if they are still trading - if they are I will post u all a link.

We also have a couple of fab 50/50 shops round here Its worth asking round to see if u have any near you as long as u don't mind second hand anyway!

thoughtforms · 04/02/2009 08:10

littlefairysmile - it depends what you're looking for, but loads of places still have a sale on - I'm going for layers, covered with a fleece right now (and a belly belt extender for my jeans, so I can keep wearing them for as long as possible!)

www.funmum.com/ is one - not sure about the quality of the clothes, but they've a couple of nice long tops in there which I'm thinking about getting! Mamas and Papas still have a sale on, as do Mothercare (both do orders online) - I realise they're not second hand, but thought it was worth mentioning anyway!

Oh, and word of warning. Anyone who's read "The feelgood hit of the decade!" on the side of buses about the film 'Slumdog Millionaire' - well, while it's a good film, blimey is it depressing! There were a few funny bits, but overall I think I almost cried (damn you hormones!) in around three or four different places - it's really quite depressing!! So don't expect to spend a couple of hours and come out with that "feelgood feeling"! I think I might try that Mickey Rourke film next, sounds much more cheery.... ahem!

lifesaboxochoccies · 04/02/2009 12:25

hi everyone not been on for ages my laptops been playing up, well i had my scan last teusday and all is well! baby measured 6.2cm crown to rump and was flipping around like a crazy thing!!! it was so amazing to see it right there on the screen as when the midwife hadnt heard the heartbeat i was starting to think maybe i was imagining being pregnant!!!! well now i can safely say little flump is doing great! i have no pregnancy complaints at the moment except for bad heartburn but i can handle that just munching away on rennee soft chews i also have DEFINATELY started to feel movement now which is really nice to feel. I thought i was feeling it a few weeks back but i now know that was gas but its definately baby now! yesterday morning felt quite a bit so did a test where i poked my tummy down low (gently) and i got a little kick back!

well i hope everything is going well for all you and your little flumps are all ok and if anyone does find a good site for cheap mat clothes (esp bottoms) please post because like allot of you i am finding it hard to get them!

Hope you've all enjoyed the snow this week also our best day for snow this area (south east) was monday and i took ds to a massive park/field and we had loads of fun building a snowman and having snowball fights!

Sorry the post was more like an essay too just felt i had allot to catch up on!

valz, congrats on your twins!!! Welcome on board.

Kitkatqueen, how're you doing? I'm glad you're seeing an osteopath, I do hope they manage to help you, are you still in agony? Have you been managing since DH has been away?

lifesaboxofchocolates, I'm glad your scan went well last week

LeninGrad, thanks for asking , my scan was perfect yesterday, nuchal measurement was 1.2mm, strong heartbeat, all measurements great, they've moved my due date by a day or two forward, so I'll adjust me on our list. I just need to wait for the results of my bloodtest to come through next week to give me my risk. I think we'll tell our two older children then, they're going to be SO shocked

Hope everyone else is OK x
