hi picante i havent seen a midwife yet either still got a week before my first appointment with her.

Well I saw the midwife for my booking in today and she took my bloods and said I should get my scan around 11 weeks (am 8+1) so not long to go now!
She also said that I am an ideal candidate for a home birth this time so I am hoping that is what will happen

Its weird but I am more anxious this time to see all is ok at that 1st scan, I guess already having DS makes me realise what is at stake IYKWIM

the nausea has definately eased off alot and I just get it occasionally now but I am getting quite a few headaches instead!
I need to go shopping for some maternity clothes though because my wardrobe is getting more limited by the day!!

Hi All! Has anyone else's m/s gotten worse towards the end? I'm 11+1 today and the last few days I have been a sick machine. Nothing makes me feel better. I thought it might be moving on by now!

Welcome to all the newbies!

I have my midwife appointment on Wednesday and I'm really looking forward to hearing the heartbeat (will almost make this sickness worth it!) and booking my scan.

Had a great weekend away with 2 other pregnant women and a new mom and it was great to hear them all talk about their pregnancies and labours - made me feel a lot calmer!

Been to EPU today after some weird cramps, just like BHs but obviously not as too early!

Didn't take blood, couldn't get any, tho the MW was in my class as school so think we were both nervous!

Scan showed all well, thank goodness. DP cried, been a shitty weekend with these cramps and pains which apparently are due to all my ligaments being irritated by my SPD.

She said, and I'm holding onto this, that in a week or so, when baby pops out of pelvis SPD should ease off until the 3rd trimester... I BELIEVE!

So I'm 10+5 today (knew I ovulated early, hence baby!) so EDD is 12th August.

hi everyone! well, i am so with my hospital / doctors - called the doctors surgery today to see if there was any chance of moving the midwife booking earlier - i'll be 12+5 when I see her.

Turns out there is no chance, so I asked if i'll be too late to have a nuchal scan. Receptionist said "oh, hasn't the hospital called you yet, they're so bad, they're always claiming they haven't got the forms..."

i didn't even know the hospital was supposed to call me! i'm going to ring them tomorrow but if i hadn't been pushy and checked I wouldn't know, and i would miss out on my 12 weeks scan. sooooo annoyed.

as i'm away from 11+5 to 12+5 it's cutting it very fine. feeling very grumpy with them.

hospital is the Royal London by the way. anyone else had similar annoying experiences of incompetence?

Hi everyone - just came on to say that I started bleeding today so my journey on this thread ends here. Heading to the EPC tomorrow morning.

We have came to terms with it - it is our third miscarriage so there is obviously something wrong and I can take this to my consultant now even though we have been throught the recurrent miscarriage tests which came back normal. In my heart of hearts I have been preparing myself since the first scan showed that our dates were different. It just proves that every day is precious and shouldnt be taken for granted. Please God, we get to hold our baby in our arms one day. It is my 40th birthday next week so we pray it is soon.

I will still lurk around the thread to hear your stories and all the plans for your beautiful babies in August.

I have taken my name off the list.

That's me 12+1 and had my scan this morning. I have a 2 year old DS and it's definitely not as exciting as first time round, probably because i know what I'm letting myself in for!!!

amelied so so sorry hun.
Some hope for you is I had 3 m/mc before my first ds, not much found either just slight thrombophilia, after 4th m/c i had a karotype test and found i have chromosonal translocation. it was just a simple blood test, this baby has been tested and is Ok, there is so much they can do these days, never thought i would have 3 dc's.

amelied sorry to hear your news. At least now they will begin to investigate and hopefully find a reason for your mcs.

Has anyone else been abstaining from sex? Partly because I would probably vomit all over dh (nice), but also as I've had 2 mcs I've wanted to wait until 12 weeks just to be on the safe side. Am kind of missing it and I know dh is poor thing!

hawkthorn- glad to hear all well, sorry to hear of SPD i didn't know it could start so early, hopefully it will be OK soon.

picante- i did want to abstaine... but caved in as... I had rather saucy deams TMI but a rather good pg symptom as opposed to all the tiredness and sickness..my last pg these dreams started late 2nd trimester though.

My nuchal scan is this friday, i've promised myself too stop worrying and enjoy pg after this if all is well...fingers crossed

I have had some bad news. Had one light brown spot on Saturday (always a bad sign for me) so phoned to arrange a scan on Monday. Scan showed an empty sac in womb only 8mm (4-5weeks size). I should be 8 weeks now. Cos the sac was empty they can't rule out ectopic (although they couldn't see anything on scan to think this) so they are monitoring hcg levels over next 48 hours. To make matters worse I can't have my usual d and c cos the sac is so small got to wait fot natural evacuation which I have never had before ( 3 previous mmc's). Wonder how long that will take. Coming off progesterone now so expecting hormones to go mad in next few days.

Could someone take me off the list please. Good luck to all of you.

Awww teachertalk,i am so sorry to hear that. Do you have to go back for a repeat scan,or are they just monitoring your HCG levels?

12 weeks here and still feeling sickly. I know it's probably because of the folic acid and because I'm still a bit run down from being ill but it's driving me mad. No abstaining here...I crave sex when I'm pregnant .

Really want my scan and it's still 10 days away. Feel so fed up of waiting for it. I just want to see that everything is ok.

nuttygirl - we're anxious to have the scan as well. Ours is in 9 days, which just seems like forever. I'm 11 wks today, and we have heard the heartbeat a few times with the doppler, so that has been reassuring.

Teachertalk and Amelied... so sorry to hear your news. I have been there too so know how you both must be feeling. Just take some time to fully rest (if you can). We are all thinking of you both.

Picante.. Yes sex abstaining here but only reason as been feeling far to sick and tired. I go to bed way to early compared to DH. Think DH is a bit gutted about it all, as we were 'trying' for ages before DS was born whereas this time we just assumed we weren't massively fertile so he didn't even get to 'try'...... poor thing.

Had my nuchal scan last week, but they said it was too early, so have to go back again tomorrow. Everything looked OK, but until you get a proper scan and test you just never know.

MS is a bit up and down at the moment, some days awful others I feel great. I am hoping it is on its way out. I really enjoyed the 2nd and 3rd trimester with DS so heres hoping I will get the same again. The 1st was the worst for me as was just sicky, tired, feeling fat (as bump not really visible and didn;t tell anyone), no clothes to wear etc etc.

Question for you ladies on maternity bras. I can't remember when I started wearing one last time. I must confess I am still in the same bras pre pregnancy, but know it gets to a point when they say you shouldn;t do underwired ones.. (probably now!) just can't remember when I switched last time. I really do need to get myself some decent maternity bras this time, as the ones I got from M&S last time although comfy just didn;t seem to support me right. any tips?

Can't remember when I went into maternity bras last time either. Think it was when I started feeling uncomfy with my normal ones. I know I bought mine in the sales at some point.

I've bought one from Mothercare this time but it's not the Mothercare branded ones (they don't go big enough!!!). I only bought one cos it was the only 34F in the shop. I definitely won't be going to M&S as I can't wear their normal bras, they just seem completely the wrong shape. Am planning to get a couple from Bravissimo but want to wait till much later on so I don't buy a size that I don't really need. Will have to just get a couple of cheapies til then.

I am feeling dreadful so have been off sick today. i woke at around 3 feeling nauseaous, couldnt get back to slee. on top of that, the constant snot from my cold is making me feel more sick. tomorrow is my day off so i'm hoping by thursday i'll feel a bit better. i have acupuncture tomorrow and then visit to the gp to get my blood results.

I really hope i don't have to tell them at work before i chave seen everything is ok at a scan. i'd be gutted if i had to tell them ( not very helpful or sympathetic last time) before our families.

Hi ladies,

Firstly, let me just say how sorry I am to hear some of the sad news on here, my heart goes out to you all. Good for the future xx

I thought I had added myself to this list, but obviously I'd made that up! There's not a lot that I remember at the moment, I truely believe that there is a condition called babybrain.
I've got my first midwife appointment this coming Friday-what should I expect at this? Will I get a chance to maybe hear a heartbeat? I've already seen my GP who has contacted my hospital for a scan date, and I had my blood taken by the nurse the following day. Although as for being examined or in-depth questions, we've had nothing!

From the antenatal care pathway sheet I was given they don't check for heartbeat at A/N appointments til 25 weeks though last time they did have a go at 16 weeks and heard it. They wouldn't try earlier than that here but it may be different elsewhere.

Not much happened at my first appointment - given a sheet saying what to avoid eating, asked if I was taking folic acid and filled in a form to get a scan date. My next appointment (12 weeks) is at the hospital (not sure why, it's just this one hospital in our area that does this) and I have blood taken (maybe ), blood pressure taken and urine tested. Afaik that's all.
