I am just back...GOOD NEWS....The scan was amazing baby in a perfect position. Looks big and healthy, EDD 3rd August. I am so relieved, after being so ill with flu I really wasnt expecting to see a baby that looked so healthy.

So fingers crossed that it all remains this way.

Good luck to everyone.

mamamila · 15/01/2009 13:56

ooh congratulations on the the scan oonaghBuna! you must be feeling so relieved.

amelied · 15/01/2009 14:18

OonghaBhuna - Fantastic news - you must be so pleased.

Take care
x

BabyBump2B · 15/01/2009 17:12

Oonagh - thats brilliant news - hooray!

I was a bit worried yesterday because my ms seemed to disappear overnight but then after I went to the gym the baby got mad and started hitting that ms button.

My sleeping is getting better although my dreams are still really weird and very vivid!

I'm going away to a cottage in the mountains for the weekend with another preggo couple and friends with their 6 month old daughter - I'm so excited and looking forward to some much needed R&R!

zen1980 · 15/01/2009 18:43

Evening everyone,
Just thought I would update you and ask for someone to take me off the list. Had some more bleeding at weekend so managed to get back into the EPU on Tues, they did scan and couldnt find heartbeat
They think it stopped a few days after my last scan on NYE, so body was playing tricks with increased ms.
I had to go back today to have everything confirmed with another scan and book in for the op in the morn. I just feel so numb but trying to have hope my 2nd pregnancy will be the one.
I wish you all the best luck in the world for your August births and it has been great sharing the journey so far x

teachertalk · 15/01/2009 20:43

zen, funny - so sorry to hear your news I have had 3 mmc's and it is heartbreaking I know. Take care of yourselves I found the threads re miscarraiges a godsend last July when I had my last one. It got me through the first horrible weeks.

Amelie - hoping for a miracle for you x

I am too scared to go for a scan right now ( 8 weeks tom). I want to enjoy being preganant for a while longer. Will go in the dreaded week 10 to see if there is still a heartbeat.

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 09:33

zen, I'm so sorry to hear you're going through this . Take care of yourself.

amelied · 16/01/2009 10:07

Zen I am so sorry, I hope you have a good support system around you. If you need someone to talk to please mail back - I have been through this twice and my it looks like the same is going to happen again next week as they were not hopeful at my scan this week. Also the miscarriage boards on here are full of fantastic women.

Teachertalk - many thanks for thinking of me - it would be one HUGE miracle. We are coming to terms with it and accepting it may not happen.

MammaDani · 16/01/2009 12:09

Sorry to hear the sad news from some. It is such a trying time.

It spurred me to call my hospital and ask that they finally give me the date of my first scan (I am 11 weeks tomorrow). The date they gave me is the only day of the week I can't do...so they changed it to a day earlier....and it isn't until I am 13 weeks and 4 days already.
I am so upset that I have to wait that long to find out if my little one is well, waiting until 12 weeks was going to be hard enough.

It is almost as if they don't realise how much we all go through, which they must. But still, a bit of compassion from them wouldn't go amiss.

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 12:23

MammaDani, sorry to hear that they're not being v helpful. Are you having a nuchal scan? If you are, isn't 13 weeks 4 days too late?

Hi HeinzSight

Yes, I am having a nuchal scan. Apparently you can have it up until the end of your 13th week, so 14 week max. Cutting it fine I have to say. Not at all happy.

HeinzSight · 16/01/2009 14:07

oh bum MammaDani I was hoping you could plead the nuchal window case!

Lenin, good luck for your nuchal test next week.

My doppler arrived today and I heard LOs heartbeat. It took ages to find it, I kept hearing the placenta, but eventually there it was. Felt VERY SURREAL.

BabyBump2B · 16/01/2009 17:46

Zen - I am so sorry - please take care of yourself.

MamaDani - they don't do nuchal scans here so I have to wait till 20 weeks.

Have been insanely ill this morning. Worst morning sickness in weeks (I'm 10+5) no idea where its come from!

Have a great weekend everyone!

olivo · 16/01/2009 19:44

zen, so sorry . take care of yourself.

today has been the first day i haven't felt sick, which is panicking me. i've felt so rough for the past couple of weeks.i hate feeling so helpless.
am dying to tell mpeople too; a friend has just announced she is 14 weeks and i really wanted to share!!

BumpVLump · 16/01/2009 22:13

Hi all,
Sorry to hear the bad news ladies, such a shame.
Although sickness does seem to be going, I am feeling rotton today. I have horrible tummyache- not really period type pains, more like bloating ache if that makes sense. Anyone else had this? I have had it for 2 days now. Also (I know Im a worrier) does anyone else sometimes get very sharp pains in abdomen. Particually when I strain like sneezing or laughing... is this normal?
I have my scan on monday and it can't come sooner!

MichaelaS · 16/01/2009 22:37

hi all, sorry to hear about your sad news zen, and all the scary scan things that are going on.

bumpvlump, don't worry about sharp pains, i'm getting them too - mostly when i wake up, when my digestive system starts up for the day.

i've been to the gym tonight for the first time since we found out about being pg - took it really easy but it was weird looking lumpy with tummy and not feeling fat for a change! i did 30 mins of walking uphill (well, a bit uphill) and some weights. is anyone else trying to keep fit whilst pg and if so what are you doing? i don't want to overdo it, but not sure what is best to do.

i'm not seeing the midwife for checking in until 12 + 6, will i be too late for a nuchal scan do you think? worried now! they were going to see me at 11 + 6 but i'm on holiday, and the midwife only visits my gp surgery once a week.

hmmm, it seems there is worry all over the place with this game!

OonaghBhuna · 16/01/2009 23:25

So sorry to those that have had a loss, my heart goes out to you, I have been there so I can identify with the pain.
I have really noticed that my MS has really subsided over the past couple of weeks, but during my scan I saw the placenta so it makes sense if we are 10-12 weeks that we might have days when we arent sick as the placenta is starting to do its job.

Although last night I felt really ill and I thought I was going to vomit. Not too bad today.

Hope everyone has a good weekend x

loopylou25 · 17/01/2009 06:32

hello everyone
can i join you

i have a EDD of 15 Aug i have two children already so this is third one (DD5 and DD1). Been feeling so sick all the time.xxxx

lea1980 · 17/01/2009 09:09

hello everyone, so sorry to hear the bits of bad news.
michaelas walking, gentle jogging, cycling, yoga are great..also swimming is fabulous for expectant mothers!! anything that helps muscle tone is good during pregnacy. does your gym do classes? many gyms do a special antenatal fitness class, light weights, stretches etc, they are really good and help you prepare for labour as well as keeping fit!!
i was really active during my first pregnancy, i worked full time in a very active job so was none stop. this time i am only part time at work, and although i have a 16mo ds i am so much less active...going to try really hard to do workouts at home..more walking the dog and climbing the stairs,i might even invest in davina mccalls pregnancy exercise dvd..its supposed to be quite good.. for during pregnacy and after the birth...but would i ever do it?!?!?!
got my scan date through at long last..february 5th hurray!! im quite pleased really. im not a natural worrier but the last few days worrying thoughts have embedded themselves in my brain and i just cant shift them!! my ms has completely gone..only lasted a week..trying to tell myself it wasnt morning sickness but maybe a bit of this gastro bug thats doing the rounds...also i havent any other symptoms, although i didnt with ds either so maybe i am worrying for no good reason...its just so many people say 2 pregnancies arent alike that im thinking i cant be that lucky.....can i?!

thoughtforms · 17/01/2009 11:11

Sorry to all the ladies who've had bad news, and good luck to the other ladies who've had scares.

bumpvlump - I've got similar pains like that (I described the feeling at first being like that when you lick a battery, although that's not something I've done since I was little!), although I found out I had a retroverted uterus, which should correct itself, so I'm figuring that the bean is growing and it's squashing things that little bit more while it gets where it should.

I've actually had a strange one - not sure if anyone's experienced this, and google is failing me (I'm not worried about it, just curious) - I keep getting a sort of icy shivering down my right leg. Last weekend it was pretty constant - every half hour or so, but then it stopped, and now I'll get it once a day, maybe. No idea what it could be - maybe some form of cramp, but it's quite odd!

Keep fit wise, I'm going to resume swimming once I'm past 12 weeks - I've been neglecting the gym a little too much. Whoops... my waistline is already expanding (just got some belt expanders today, and M&S jeans with the elastic on the pocket area - saw Mamas and Papas have some in their sale too, for £15 if anyone was thinking about getting some.) - blagged some long t-shirts from work, so hopefully it wont get too much bigger in the next month... sigh!

I've got my 12 week appointment now - except I'll be almost 14 weeks (does anyone know how much that could affect the nuchal scan?) - still, got the midwife appt a couple of weeks prior to that!

HeinzSight · 17/01/2009 11:21

I haven't read all posts since yesterday but wanted to answer BumpVLump,

what you're describing is something called round ligament pain, it's perfectly normally and is a good sign, it means your uterus is getting bigger and putting strain on the ligaments that are attached to it. I have been having this for about a wk or so when I sneeze, really painful. It feels like someone's twanged an elastic band really hard in your insides, ouch, it hurts for about 5 mins or so. The good news is, it doesn't last throughout the whole pregnancy!!

Right, I shall resume my catching up.

HeinzSight · 17/01/2009 11:26

LoopyLou, do I know you? Your name seems familiar, congrats btw.

Thoughtforms, could it be your sciatic nerve or something? The cut off for your nuchal scan is 13+6, so you'll be too late for your nuchal at 14 weeks. Hopefully the midwife can get you an urgent scan booked prior to the cut off date. Fingers crossed.

BumpVLump · 17/01/2009 16:40

Thanks for all your reassurance ladies. Heinzsight that is exactly it- like an elastic band pinging. So glad its normal. Why dont they mention the little things in pregnancy books?!
My nuchal scan will be when Im 13:1 so should be ok as long as my dates are right. It does seem like they are leaving a lot of us till the last minute...
Much love to the rest of the worry mums to be XX

nuttygirl · 17/01/2009 19:27

to hear all the bad news.

Exercise not much of that happening here. Am hoping to maybe do some antenatal yoga but had a look for some courses and most of them said "suitable for women after 16 weeks". Would like to go swimming but can't be bothered de-fuzzing the gorrilla legs

Feeling a lot better than last week now so am finally back to eating proper food rather than just crumpets.

I have my scan on the 30th (no nuchal scan here but not bothered tbh) and then have an antenatal appointment straight after it at the hospital. Feels a bit strange cos it's the only antenatal appointment that's at the hospital . I'm also getting a bit anxious about it because I'm planning on refusing the blood tests - I may allow the iron levels one but I'm definitely not allowing them to re-test my blood type and stuff, all that info is already on my medical records and it is sooooo difficult getting any blood out of me.
