Zen that's great news about your HCG levels, bet you feel v relieved don't you, hopefully you can relax a bit and enjoy your Christmas.

Merry Christmas everyone, have a good one x

BabyBump2B · 24/12/2008 23:12

Zen Great news - we've got our scan on 30th so fingers crossed for both of us!

Happy Christmas Everyone! Here's to us all with babes in arms this time next year! xoxoxo

MichaelaS · 25/12/2008 23:18

Happy Christmas everyone!

I am also feeling pretty sick, haven't fancied any food really, and had to force down the odd bit so I don't feel even more sick.

Told my parents and sister on Monday, they are over the moon - for Christmas I got a suprise baby name book and "i'm pregnant" magazine, which seems to be a few articles thinly disguising a whole 300 pages of "buy me" stuff. :-) so sweet of them. my dad cried! awwwh.

hope you're all having a great Christmas

anniecam38 · 27/12/2008 15:18

Great news Zen
Hope everyone had a great christmas. I thought i was going to get away quite lightly with symptoms in this pregnancy, has had no MS at all with DS, and with this one up to now only had v.sore huge breasts, tiredness and heightened smell, but the MS kicked in with a vengeance Christmas Day of all days. Im being sick 2-3 times a day and gagging loads and feel sick constantly.
Glad im off work till Jan 5th!.

HeinzSight · 27/12/2008 17:27

poor you anniecam, I know exactly where you're coming from. I can cope with most things apart from feeling sick , am just about to eat some toast with jam in the hope that it'll help for a bit!

olivo · 28/12/2008 09:14

morning everyone! how are you all? I am a bit worried as i don't seem to have much nausea (anniecam, i'm actually of you!) anymore. just shattered and constipated!! lovely! 'd forgotten how worrying these early weeks are, watching for symptoms, doing loads of pointless pg tests, just to check. I'm right there again now, despite saying i'd take it as it comes. seriously though, hope it's not too draining, anniecam.

we told dh's parents yesterday - had originally said we'd tell no one till 12 weeks and knew that all was ok, but I've felt so tired that we might need their help with dd. feels like a relief to have told someone -we were bursting to announce it on Christmas day!

anniecam38 · 28/12/2008 09:32

Morning everyone.

I wouldnt worry too much olivio bout the lack of nausea, with DS i had none, nor with my mmc or mc prior to him. Im now 9 weeks and its put in an appearance now. Be careful what you wish for,so the saying goes, well i was quite envious of all the ladies on here with MS symptoms, and now ive got them so i shouldnt complain-but i do! I moan like buggery to my poor DH!

olivo · 28/12/2008 09:59

i know, i shouldn't be asking for it - i had ms right up to 17 weeks with dd. Bang on 4 pm every day, head hanging over the loo! it was sooo tiring! reassuring though, in a weird kind of way!
hope you feel better soon.

hippyme · 28/12/2008 12:37

BlueSatinSash sorry to hear about your news.

Its been a while since I've posted but just wanted to wish everyone a happy Christmas and alcohol free new year!

Got my 12 week scan date - 22nd Jan! I'm already nervous I hope all is ok and there really is a baby in there? I seem to have lost most of my pregnancy symptoms but I'm trying not to think too much about things and just get on with it all...

This Christmas period is making time fly which I'm loving

Have fun everyone

cairns · 28/12/2008 14:29

Hi Ladies

Wishing you all a Merry Xmas and a sticky New Year. Haven't been on for a while as we had a family ski hol so will have to catch up with all the news, you all have been v v busy. Happy to say that I didn't have any incidents and amazingly the MS went while skiing on the slopes (but came back with a vengeance in the evening). DS also loved the snow which was really cute to see (he seemed to think it was cold sand and loved playing with a bucket and spade in it!) Only bad news is that my bro dislocated his collar bone Xmas Eve which meant Xmas wasn't as lovely as we hoped.

Anyhow, I have a scan booked in for 16th Jan which is earlier than I thought. Still have MS but it does seem to be much worse in the evenings. I am not as physically sick this time too, I think a combination of making sure i keep my blood sugar levels up (boiled sweets or ginger biscuits when i feel queasy), those wristband things plus whoever gave me the idea of taking the folic acid tabs in the evening. Seem to be working for me.

OonaghBhuna · 28/12/2008 18:43

Cairns I am so jealous of your holiday. I still have flu, I still feel as ill as I did 9 days ago.Perhaps a little improvement today. My DH is off for another week and I am really hoping that we can do stuff with the kids. For the past week he has been doing everything because I am fit for nothing.

I tend to get nausea in the afternoon/evening.

BabyBump2B · 28/12/2008 18:44

Hi ladies! Hope everyone had a great Christmas. We had a blast telling our families. Told my lovely in-laws over skype and MIL burst into tears and ran out of the room. Very funny - they are over the moon, as are my family but especially my nieces and nephews!

I have my first midwife appointment now booked for the 8th and my "reassurance" scan on Tuesday - I'm ridiculously nervous about it.

LittleFairySmile · 29/12/2008 12:40

Hi all, been away for a busy round of visiting. Feeling really sick, and so nervous it's driving me mad. Also, having so many vivid dreams. Nothing sinister or really freaky, just vivid, and several a night! Anyone else?

Scan on 13 Jan. Just can't wait!

HeinzSight · 29/12/2008 13:29

Dreams are very common in pregnancy, often rude ones

Kanuck · 29/12/2008 13:36

Hi there - I guess I am the newest addition to the group. In my 8th week (technically 7+4) and underwent IVF treatment, 3rd time lucky. EDD = Aug 12th

One advantage to the IVF 'contract' is all the scans you get, so i've been having them each week since week 5. Embryo showed heartbeat at Week 5 and was a mere 2.1mm! It then went to 4.5mm in Week 6 and then this morning was 11.9mm. Kind of cool to see the progression, albeit at such a microscopic size!

I have been consumed with my OHSS (ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome) [side effect] symptoms and most recently have been dealing with a couple of painful ovarian cysts. These are finally reducing in size thankfully. No MS yet (at all?) but have dealt with plenty of pain and suffering due to the IVF side effects!

My treatment is being handed over to the mid-wife next week.

SpecialOffer · 29/12/2008 13:42

Congratulations Kanuck and welcome to the thread!!

Well my MS is still not really there, so I have mixed feelings about that as it is reassuring to have, but I am grateful not to have it. I am starting to show though?!? MW says that this is the joy of having two babies close together. I am only 9 weeks, so feel a bit weird about getting in maternity clothes yet, am still trying to squeeze into my normal jeans!!

Hope everyone had a fab Christmas....

Babybump good luck for your scan, I am so .

HeinzSight · 29/12/2008 13:44

massive congrats to you Kanuck!! You must be over the moon

Sorry about all the side effects you're having.

HeinzSight · 29/12/2008 13:48

Special I am exactly the same, I was looking at some photos taken last week on our camera and I look properly pregnant , my DD is 16 months and this is my 4th , I'm not even 8 weeks yet!!

Hi Kanuck! How amazing for you - congratulations!

Is anyone else HUGE? I'm 7+1 and can't fit into my jeans. I'm not going to be able to hide it for much longer. I really need to get some maternity jeans but somehow feel I'll be jinxing it all. Am just in crappy jogging bottoms at the moment!

I did try to start a thread about pregnancy sickness but I guess most of the people suffering will be on this thread!

Kanuck · 29/12/2008 14:29

Sorry if that has been posted before - I just saw it. Do you know about the new £190 Health in Pregnancy grant being offered as of April 2009?

Details here:
direct.gov.uk/en/groups/dg_digitalassets/@dg/@en/documents/digitalasset/dg_173398.pdf

nuttygirl · 29/12/2008 14:33

Just popping on. Had a pretty good Xmas though didn't have much xmas dinner as I was feeling so sicky in fact I think xmas day was the worst I've felt so far. Typical eh?!

Although I still fit in my normal jeans etc I'm finding maternity trousers a bit more comfy. Just wearing last time's at the moment so they're a 12 even though I'm really a 14/16 so doesn't feel too bad going into them .

SpecialOffer · 29/12/2008 15:02

Kanuck - wow, couldn't open the link but just googled it and its true:

^From April 2009, almost every pregnant woman in the UK will be eligible for Health in Pregnancy Grant (HiPG). This will be a one off payment of £190, available from the 25th week of pregnancy. It is intended to help support the general health and well being of pregnant women in the later stages of pregnancy and to help them meet the costs in the run up to the birth.

A midwife or Doctor will need to sign the form to confirm that the woman is 25 weeks pregnant and that appropriate maternal advice has been given in order for a woman to claim the grant.

Pregnant women whose EDD is on or after 6th April 2009 will be able to make a claim from their 25th week of pregnancy. Eligible women sending claims before 6th April 2009 should note that their payments will not be received until the end of April 2009.^

This appears bit to be means tested so everyone should get it!!

BabyBump2B · 29/12/2008 17:08

Hi Welcome Kanuck! I'm Canadian too but I'm back in Canada now.

I'm sooooo sicky now. Seems like every week it bumps up a bit. I'm sleeping terribly too!

With regards to being huge I'd like to join that club too! I have a friend 8 weeks ahead and I'm bigger than her! Most of it is bloating but I broke down and bought some maternity jeans because waistbands make me feel even sicker and I am in love with them - seriously why aren't all jeans this comfortable?

anniecam38 · 29/12/2008 19:34

Welcome Kanuck and thanks for posting the link re the new Pregnancy Grant.

Good luck for your scan tomorrow BabyBump2B.

I too am growing out of my jeans, ive only noticed it this week, but even my comfy loose jeans are cutting into me like a cheesewire.I did toy with the idea of getting my maternity jeans out of the bag in the loft, think i may give in the end of this week.
I am soooo tired, im in bed now tucked up in fact. Ive just put my DS to bed and decided to go to bed as well.
