Hi
readyfornumber2- Congrat's on number 2 and welcome, can't believe you are due 31st aug, this thread since, time of the thread started went so slow and now so fast...weird

nuttygirl- sorry to hear od il's critising, that always reminds me that although i can be opinionated i will draw the line at interfering in my adult childrens life when that time happens.

annie- thanks for updating me.

I have started to get a cold...yuck, it's bloody summer here.

I sent my christmas cards on wednesday, and wrote the greeting in green, our names and then in red AND baby to be!
still feels early to tell, but after seeing baby, it is now very real to us.

babycat · 19/12/2008 11:48

Feeling anxious today as despite being at work last night, I don't feel as sick or exhausted as I have been the past few days. Still got a little bit of niggly discomfort in my stomach but not as bad as it was. I've also got a bit of yellowy discharge (sorry if tmi)& keep having to knicker check to make sure I'm not bleding. Wish I could have an early scan so I know everything is okay. Saw the GP on Wednesday & he said midwife would see me at about 10 weeks and arrange a scan then! Last time I saw the midwife at 8 weeks & was still nearly 13 weeks by the time I got the scan. As I had fertility treatment last time though I'd already had an internal scan at 6 weeks so I knew I had a viable pregnancy then. Also wondering whether it's possible that I might be further on than I think as although I had a period last month I don't think it was as heavy as usual. Sorry to ramble on but I haven't told any of my friends or my mum yet so no one else to talk to about it and DH just tells me to stop worrying as everthing will be alright!

HeinzSight · 19/12/2008 11:59

babycat can you ask your doctor for a dating scan. I think that's a reasonable request. If you're 4 weeks further than you think, you'll miss the window for your nuchal scan, if you're doing it.

suwoodolf · 19/12/2008 12:12

I'm getting discharge too babycat (feels a bit like when ovulating-quite thin). I also keep knicker checking.

babycat · 19/12/2008 13:02

Thanks for your support HeinzSight & suwoodolf. I didn't have the nuchal scan or the ?16 week blood tests last time so won't be this time either so that doesn't matter. Think it's unlikely that I'd be about 10 weeks though. I struggled to get an appointment to see Doc on Wednesday, was initially offered appointment 2nd week in January, only when I uttered my disbelief did the receptionist offer me the choice of phoning @ 8.30am the following morning to see if there were any appointments available & they then managed to squeeze me in! I think I'll see if the midwife contacts me in the next couple of weeks. If she does I'll tell her my concerns & see what she suggests. If not will perhaps go to the hassle of trying to get another appointment with the doctor or finding out how to contact a midwife. I am away over Christmas anyway. Hope I don't get the same midwife as last time though as she was young, had never given birth, didn't seem to enjoy her job very much and seemed to want you out of the surgery as soon as possible . Gosh that's a lot of moaning for one day! I just can't get excited about this at the moment. Got the shadow of friend's miscarriage/ectopic (still don't know how I'm going to tell her)as well as still being in shock and worried something will be wrong or that I'm not actually pregnant!

suwoodolf · 19/12/2008 13:58

I've got my sickness wristbands- I just need the sickness to go with them . First weekend with no drinking for me...tonight is normally wine night, so will be big change. I don't fancy it anyway so I know something is wrong (right) .

WeAreStardust · 19/12/2008 15:24

Hi girls, hope you don't mind if I join in.

Had my BFP nearly two weeks now, but it is all feeling a bit unreal even now, despite having sore boobs, queasiness and occasional mild twinges/cramps.

Due on 19th August if nothing goes wrong.

Speaking of which I had some brown spotting on Wednesday morning - initially I thought "oh no - it's all going to come out now" so rushed to the supermarket and bought big pads . However, nothing more came of it, all traces were gone by early afternoon and nothing since.

So kind of feeling a bit unsure - this is my first time so no idea what to expect or how things are "supposed to be" IYKWIM.

Rang doctors surgery this afternoon to see what the normal procedure is - no need to see a doctor at all, receptionist took my details and said MW will call me once I'm 10-12 weeks!!! 12 weeks is when I was hoping to have a scan, in fact, I was going to ask if I could have it a bit early in view of spotting just so I know evertything is ok.
So similar predicament to you babycat!

I did say to receptionist last period was "beginning of Nov" rather than 12 Nov! So hopefully I will actually get to see MW a bit earlier than 10-12 weeks but obviously won't let on that I know the exact date of my last period as I want my scan and I've heard where I live you don't always get one at 12 weeks!!

When is everyone else having their MW appts??

anniecam38 · 19/12/2008 15:43

Welcome readyfornumber2 and WeAreStardust

WeAreStardust Im not seeing my MW until I am 11 weeks, she did say though that she would rush my scan appt through and i should get it for the same week or the beg of week after. I was due to see her at 7 weeks as id asked if i could be referred for early reassurance scan due to previous mmc and mc, but i ended up cancelling this appt as ended up in A&E last weekend with bleeding and had scan the day after (everything fine thankfully). If your spotting is prolonged or gets heavier, maybe if you go to yr dr he/she may refer you for early scan. By the way try not to worry unduly re spotting as unless it is accompanoed by cramping and /or clotting, it is normally fine.

nuttygirl · 19/12/2008 15:53

I saw mw at 6 weeks as a booking in appointment (tho I could have seen doctor - they're not too fussed who you see for that appointment at the surgery). However because of the hospital I've chosen for my scans I have my 10-12 week appointment at the hospital at the same time as the scan so don't see mw again until 16th Feb.

Am assuming they have your details so can book a scan for you iyswim. I know first time round I saw mw for 12 week appointment and had scan a couple of days later cos she'd already booked it for me.

BabyBump2B · 19/12/2008 17:27

Hi readyfornumber2 and WeAreStardust!

Well had I not had the ectopic scare I wouldn't be having my first scan until 20 weeks [hmmm] which seems ridiculous! (I'm in Canada for you newer folks!)

Can you get reassurance scans there? I don't know what I'd do if I had to wait - the weeks are going by incredibly slowly. I'm having more and more nausea and I must be the happiest nauseous person in the world!

I'm back at work on Monday after being off with pneumonia for 10 weeks and I'm not looking forward having to hide the ms.

Anyone have any tips?

LittleFairySmile · 19/12/2008 17:45

Knicker checking here too girls! I so000 want to know all is ok, but they wont give me an early scan . Have to wait for week 16 apparently?! I thought it was week 12? But hey-ho!

Sickness wristbands working a treat! But have to take them off every now and then though as they hurt my wrists after a while! Then the nausea returns, so I know I?m still sick!

And yikes suwoodolf that?s some history there! Wow! Did you know trainee doulas can only charge £150? I know it?s still a lot but it might be helpful to have someone to support your DH!

I really feel for you nuttygirl with issues with ILs. What sort of things are coming up? Off-load here and get it off your chest (might stop DD grabbing)

anniecam38 sorry to hear about your trip to A&E, glad all is well though!

Hello WeAreStardust, I can?t speak for the others, but I?m feeling unsure too (which is why I?m on here). It?s just so nice to know others are feeling the same twinges, symptoms, fears and irritations! Welcome, and please add all your odd comments so I won?t feel bad about my odd comments !

MW appts on Monday but I really want a scan!!! [stamps feet in childish petulance emoticon]

[stomping off to sulk]

OonaghBhuna · 19/12/2008 17:59

Welcome to all the newbies. I have had the vomiting bug over the last two days and on top of preggie nausea I have felt awful. Also have not eaten or been able to keep anything down. It was our wedding anniversary yesterday and I spent the night with my head down the toilet The girls have been vomiting too so its all fun in our house!

WeAreStardust · 19/12/2008 18:13

Thanks for the comments - as I said there's been no spotting at all since it first happened so hoping it's nothing and haven't got time to wait all day at A&E (haven't told boss yet and don't intend to until after 12 wks if I can help it so also don't want to awaken suspicions)! If it starts again I will def get a doctors appt though. I'm only 5+2 today so would be too early to see anything on a scan yet.

Will have to go to surgery and pick up a "pregnancy pack" - will probably mention that I'm a bit concerned and see if they can get MW to call me earlier. Unfortunately receptionists aren't always that helpful. I've been thinking of changing to another surgery for a while as mines a bit rubbish, but never got round to it.

The thing I'm worrying the most about is what if it is a missed miscarriage and I will feel all the symptoms and everything for weeks thinking I'm pregnant only to be told at the scan (whenever that may be!!!) that I won't be having a baby after all! I've heard this is what happens with mmc - you get a bit of brown spotting but think everythings ok, and then it's not! Is that what happened with your mmc anniecam??

If I can't get to see the midwife early or get a scan until after 12 weeks I'll probably have a private one after xmas just for reassurance. The only thing I've heard is that if you have a private scan, the NHS will not give you your NHS scan. I think this would be very unjust - do private clinics share information with NHS???

I'm not feeling sick with worry or anything - it's more of a if it isn't going to happen I'd rather know now so I can get into the trying again mode and have a few G&Ts!!

I'm worse than knicker checking. I do internal checks every day - you know a bit like when you check cm when ttc, i make sure that there's nothing unusual up there .

BabyBump - not had any proper sickness yet so no idea how to hide it. Probably quite hard!! But from the looks of it quite a few of the ladies on here are suffering so hopefully they will have some ideas.

WeAreStardust · 19/12/2008 18:20

OonaghBhuna Oh no - double sickness. Well at least you got it before xmas! And now you'll feel better only having ms!

(I may have to see a client on Tuesday - day before xmas eve!!! - who works as a carer, spoke to him today and he said the vomiting bug is doing the rounds. I've told him if he gets it to let me know so we can reschedule, but you know how some people are, they don't care if they give it to someone else!!)

OonaghBhuna · 19/12/2008 19:02

Hello We are stardust,I had a mmc at 10 weeks, I had a scan at 8 weeks where we could see the sac but nothing in it, then an internal where we could see the heart beating. Unfortunately it wasn't beating fast enough. Anyway was told that I would definitely have a Miscarriage.
I didnt have any bleeding another scan at 12 weeks which confirmed the miscarriage. The awful thing is with a mmc is that you don't know, I had all the symptoms.I'm not being much help sorry.
It put me off early scans especially when I found out that sometimes even in a healthy pregnancy you might not see a heartbeat at 8 weeks. So I wait until 12 weeks now.
If I had any bleeding or spotting I would always contact my MW.

WeAreStardust · 19/12/2008 19:35

Thanks Oonagh - unfortunately from speaking to the surgery it seems a bit like you're on your own in the first trimester (no midwife contact details given just told she will contact me at 10-12 weeks). Will go there on Monday to pick up the "Pregnancy Pack" (no doubt full of very useful info ) so will try to enquire a bit.
But as I said I'm not panicking at all so even if I have to wait that's just how it is I suppose - I told myself from the start this pregnancy thing is a bit of a gamble and if I can help it I don't want to get too worked up!
I have a feeling all is probably ok but it just helps knowing other ppls experiences!

anniecam38 · 19/12/2008 20:00

Hello WeAreStardust, with my mmc i had more than just brown spotting-it was fairly heavy, but id read that brown blood wasnt anything to worry about and it was only if it was bright red there was any cause for concern, so i trotted off to the drs not really too worried there was anything majorly wrong-was sent for scan next day, I was 7 weeks but scan only showed sac with fetal pole, had to go back for rescan 2 weeks later to be told i had indeed had a mmc.
I think most of us on here are just wishing away the first trimester so we can relax a little!!.

BumpVLump · 19/12/2008 20:32

Hi all,
I had my 8 week scan late on thursday and happy to say everything looking fine. Heartbeating away and all the right size- in fact lady said I was 8+4 by the size so I am trying to STOP worrying...for a bit at least. Thanks for all your thoughts...
WeAreStardust I did have brown discharge with my MMC too, but also was told not to worry. If you are really worried, my advice to anyone would be go to Drs and be DEMANDING. Or even go straight to A and E and say youre not leaving till you get a scan!! It worked for me.
I have told close family now, but it is V difficult, particually with Xmas coming and family all around.
I have not heard anything from my GP re. a midwife appointment. Is this normal or should I chase it up?
anniecam38 you are so right, just wishing the days away here...

HeinzSight · 19/12/2008 20:43

BumpVLump, am SO please your scan went well. Have been thinking about you. x

anniecam38 · 19/12/2008 20:43

BumpVLump Yeay, great news on your scan,so happy for you.

I still havent told many people about my pregnancy, though it has nearly slipped out so many times, especially to my friends. Got my works xmas night out tomorrow night, wonder how many people will twig that im not drinking, when i normally drink enough wine to sink a small vessell, and am usually dancing on the tables by the end of the night.

HeinzSight · 19/12/2008 20:44

I've only told my parents and 4 v close friends. I haven't even been to my doctors yet , this still all feels very strange to me!!! Four children was never in our plan!

cwtchy · 19/12/2008 20:53

Hi all, welcome to the newcomers! I have been mildly concerned about my lack of symptoms this week, but they seem to be kicking in now. Not just feeling a bit sicky, but baby brain has struck and I am finding it really difficult to string a sentence together! A few times today I've been talking to DH and just given up what I was trying to say, it was all far too much effort. I also forgot my PIN whilst trying to check out at Tescos - luckily I have it stored on my phone in disguise in case of such an event.

Hi wearestardust, I had quite a bit of brown spotting at the beginning of my last pregnancy, and then a big scary red lump at about 7 weeks. That baby is 15 months now and sleeping next to me! I had read the symptoms and convinced myself I had a MMC, I remember the awful waiting until the scan. There's no point in me telling you it will all be fine, but at least you know you are not the only one hating the w-a-i-t-i-n-g...

HeinzSight · 19/12/2008 20:59

cwtchy, when's your baby's birthday, my DD is also 15 months

suwoodolf · 19/12/2008 21:11

lol at cwtchy, I have baby brain permanently and my sickness and tiredness have kicked in today too- bleurgh. Think of me on Sunday won't you girls on the 11 hour channel crossing, double bleurgh.

cwtchy · 19/12/2008 21:35

Heinz, DD's birthday is the 27th August. So she's almost 16 months..I'm having a lot of fun with her at the moment, it's a nice age I think. Although I did have to drain my washing machine last week after she put the washing in for me and added half a roll of kitchen paper without me noticing..

Good luck for Sunday Suewoo, you had better buy some more of those wristbands, maybe put them all up your arms The mere thought of 11 hours on the ocean waves has made me feel worse! Now I simply have to go downstairs and have a biscuit to help. If I can remember where I put them, that is.
