BumpVLump · 17/12/2008 19:35

Hello all and welcome new lovelies.
Hows eveyone doing?
I have an 8 wk scan tommoz and cant wait coz today I have been obsessively worrying- mainly becuase I have had the WORST morning sickness for the last two weeks and today I have been OK. Also had some wierd cramps. I know I am over thinking everything. Is it just me or does being pg make you paranoid??

MammaDani · 17/12/2008 19:56

Hey laides

Thanks for the advice. I know, I have gone a bit overboard. So paranoid. Just want to do everything right by him/her, and I do take too much on. You're right, I should just go with the flow as much as possible and just be sensible.

It's strange, there are so many healthy pregnancies all the time, why I'm just not more positive I really don't know, but I want to be the best mom I can be.

fairylights · 17/12/2008 20:32

just wanted to stick my head in and say hi - haven't had internet for a couple of weeks because of building work and am impressed at how many more people have joined this thread!
As i said in my last post i was very ill with hyperemesis (severe vomitting, having to be in hospital on drip etc) when pg with ds so am actually ok with the nausea and occasional vomitting i have got so far! But only 7 weeks and think can't remember when i was at my worst last time..
anyway, can sympathise with those of you feeling really rough

bluesatinsash · 17/12/2008 21:24

Hi MammaDani and welcome!

I need to get those wristbands as I'm sick as a dog and all health eating has gone out the window (salty chips anyone?!). Have also been going to bed early, in fact I'm up a bit late tonight!

BumpVLump - good luck for scan tomorrow

Night All x

hencath · 18/12/2008 09:38

I second that!!

Salty chips, olives and crisps!!! Oh dear I never eat chips and crisps normally.
I also cant stomach any kind of eggs (normally love them) weird stuff going on.

nuttygirl · 18/12/2008 10:45

Hi,

Morning sickness has stepped up a gear though still not actually being sick. Keep doing the pukey thing but nothing comes up (TMI!)

Food stuff I was told to avaoid was:
ripened soft cheese
pate
raw eggs
raw meat
peanuts
marlin & swordfish
liver

and to make sure milk is pasteurised, sterilised or uht. Limit tuna to 2 small tins or one fresh steak per week.

Though it was pretty much ignored by me...I don't eat cheese, tuna, pate, not keen on nuts and I like meat well cooked

I'm craving something different every day. Don't fancy anything in particular for meals and finding it really hard to actually eat anything. I did find ice lollies helped yesterday.

nuttygirl · 18/12/2008 10:48

Littlefairysmile - good luck finding your doula. We've found one we really like.

Also to anyone else thinking of booking one have a look round now as some of them don't work the summer holidays because of childcare issues and/or their own holiday.

suwoodolf · 18/12/2008 13:27

I'd love a doula and a homebirthbut reckon I may have to go for a c section again, I'll see how things progress. Still nothing more than a bit of queasiness here, worse at night. I work evenings too, so its a bit of a ball ache and no going to bed at 9pm for me!

HeinzSight · 18/12/2008 13:37

babyVLump, hope your scan goes well today x

I went into school today to help at DS2's Christmas party, they're all getting so big! Such a contrast to when I helped out a few years ago, they were so sensible today. I left DD with a friend's daughter, was a bit nervous as haven't left her with an 18 yr old before, but she was brilliant.

Hope everyone's well x

MichaelaS · 18/12/2008 14:43

hello everyone, glad to hear you're all well.

I'm 6 weeks today and have been craving runny eggs! my body is obviously not going to comply with medical science.

So, have any of you told your families yet? I'm planning to tell my parents and sister on Tuesday. We're staying with them for christmas, and i'm usually a big drinker so they would notice immediatley that something is up. I've written out christmas cards to them from the bump-to-be and am going to get them to open them all together. I'm VERY excited about telling them, my mum will be over the moon. I'm not going to tell anyone from work until February though, after the 12 week scan.

So, what are your plans for telling people?

MammaDani · 18/12/2008 15:42

Hi MichaelaS

Runny eggs hey? Yes, it seems baby has a mind of its own. I'm on the Cheerios today. Haven't eaten them in about 15 years, but today I just really fancied them. Dry out the packet.

We have told our close family already. Parents and siblings, because I know they would be upset to not be included from the get-go, but that is just my parents so I am sure everyone is different. Also, would be a bit strange over Christmas to have me sleeping half the day, and not wanting to face any of the food or booze. So off normal food. Carbs is all I crave.

Not telling friends and extended family until the first scan, though it is hard as they tend to notice someone not having a drink with dinner. Avoid most dinner invites until then to make things a bit easier. Can't wait to shout it to the world!

BabyBump2B · 18/12/2008 16:28

Hey everyone! BumpVLump How was your scan??

I'm not really craving anything per se but I am really turned off by sweet things (like chocolate) which is a shocker because I love my desserts. Some girlfriends and I shared a mocha cheesecake the other day and I couldn't even eat more than a couple of bites because it tasted too cloying.

We're telling parents/siblings on Christmas Day - aside from the fact that not drinking would tip them off right away DH's parents are on their own in the UK and we know it will make Christmas for them! Can't wait to shout it from the rooftops though when we're safe!

moosecat1 · 18/12/2008 17:37

Hi all and welcome newbies. My symptoms seem to be running in line with most people - nausea, (but not been sick yet) an aversion to any healthy food and a change from one day to another as to what I can face eating. Still hate the smell of parsnips. Tiredness is starting to kick in early evenings too.

Went for a scan on Monday and there was a bean with a heartbeat and a visible yolk sac. Not getting too excited though as the last mc was between 10+3 and 11+3 so been here before. Off to see the consultant again this weekend, he reckons if everything is ok at week 9, he will be happy. What a long week and a half that will be. I still won't be celebrating until 12 weeks though. I am hoping he will do some blood tests this weekend to make sure that the drugs are working.

Cairns and suwoodolf - I use the wristbands too. Anything to calm the nausea. I've worn them at work with my sleves rolled up too. No-one has said anything yet, but if they do I'll tell them it's to support the acupuncture I've been having.

UKi - great news on the scan - here's to the next few weeks.

I've told the people who would need to know if things went wrong - my parents (not out-laws yet though)and a close friend. I've also told work because of the close monitoring and not knowing if the tablets are going to give me psychotic side effects!

Take care for now everyone - I'm out for a meal and I really fancy burger and chips.... bring out the fat clothes now.

LittleFairySmile · 18/12/2008 19:49

suwoodolf why do you think you wont get your HBAC? Have you joined
UK VBAC/HBAC
They have just had a fantastic story of a woman who VBA4C!!!! The list is so inspiring and supportive!!

MichaelaS have told everyone! After mc I wanted people to know so if something went wrong then no-one would put their foot in it with ?so, when are you having another?? type questions!

BabyBump2B I?ve gone off sweet stuff too ? what a bummer just before Christmas when they are just about the only treat we pg women get!

Cairns, suwoodolf and moosecat1 I?ve just brought the wristbands. Will let you know I find them!

Take care all!

SpecialOffer · 18/12/2008 20:02

BumpVLump - hope your scan went well.

Welcome to all the new people...

MichaelaS - I have told all close family and very close friends.

Ok, I am almost 8 weeks now, and my sickness has practically gone, has this happened to anyone else? I can't remember when it happened with my ds??? My boobs are not sore anymore either, so not sure if I should be concerned or not? I am however exhausted and eating constantly, and I mean constantly... I will be the size of a hosue soon. I do have a bump though, I didn't show with my ds until about 24 weeks, but I am really going to struggle to get to 12 weeks at this rate. Does anyone else look pregnant yet?

bluesatinsash · 18/12/2008 20:11

Evening All,

Feeling really bleugh all day (note to self: buy those wristbands now!). I had Super noodles for tea, probably more nutrition in the packaging . Also gone off chocolate , its just carbs, carbs and more carbs.

moosecat - great to hear scan went well.

I work part-time and find my two days off are worse as I can't wallow in my sickness in the office whereas today me and DS have been lolling around in our jammies and I've been discretely throwing up on the quiet feeling v. sorry for myself (in my defence DS has a chest infection so we had to stay indoors).

Re: telling people, only my Mum, in-laws, boss and two close friends know. Still to tell my Dad, sisters, B&SIL, workmates and wider circle of friends but I feel anxious and ackward following my mc in August and don't want to tempt fate. I may tell my sisters and BIL on Christmas Day but I'll see how confident I am then (I'll be the same stage on Christmas Eve as I was when I mc so getting to Crimbo day will be a big deal..)

Finish up work tomorrow for two whole weeks - yippee!

bluesatinsash · 18/12/2008 20:16

SpecialOffer - I don't look pregnant yet, just flabby and unfit!

Don't worry about your fluctuating symtoms, your hormones may just be having a good week and settling down. Constant hunger is a good sign that bean is growing and needing fed!

suwoodolf · 18/12/2008 20:53

My lack of homebirth will only be down to DH. The reason I had an elective last time is down to my grade 3 prolapse. I also had a severe PPH after my 1st (vaginal) delivery which caused me to lose conciousness and and be rushed into surgery for an emergency procedure to remove the products (placenta). So a homebirth isn't really cut and dried and DH is scared that I am going to die and leave hime with 3 kids

anniecam38 · 18/12/2008 21:36

Evening ladies. Just catching up on this thread as had no internet for 3 days, all sorted now though.
Hope those of you with bad MS (or should that be called all day sickness) start to feel better soon.

BumpVLump Hope you ok and that you had a good scan today.

BabyBump2B so glad you got results you were hoping for with great HCG levels.

*Moosecat1 Glad you had a good scan result and fingers crossed for you that the next few weeks go by quickly and safely.

suwoodolf Gosh im not surprised your DH isnt keen on you having a home birth.
What a scare for both of you.

Hello to everyone else and all the new ladies {{{waves}}}.

readyfornumber2 · 19/12/2008 07:09

Hi all, I found out yesterday that I am pg with number2

I am due 30th aug so just about on this thread lol, I am already feeling very very sick (I had no MS with DS!) and my boobs are very sore which is what made me test as I am only 12dpo today!

Looking forward to spending the next 9 months with you all x

RE telling people- We are telling everyone on xmas day and then if things go wrong they wont put their foots in it!

Picante · 19/12/2008 07:16

Argh I am feeling sooooo rubbish.

So sick.

So tired.

Last night I went to bed at 7pm, the same time as my son!

And I'm eating like a horse.

readyfornumber2 Pregnancy is obviously affecting your English. Lol at 'foots'!!

nuttygirl · 19/12/2008 10:42

Morning.

Am finding it a bit strange as I don't seem to be showing as much as I did with dd...perhaps there's just more saggy belly for this one to fill first

Am getting more and more sickly now and am gonna have to get different folic acid tablets...can't manage the size of the Boots mum-to-be tablets now I'm feeling sick.

Having issues with ILs at the moment . Fed up of them criticising us. Dh told them so but all they keep saying is that he's being touchy .

Oh and dd seems to have taken a liking to grabbing and squeezing my boobs, which bloody hurts .

suwoodolf · 19/12/2008 10:53

Nuttygirl, I've got the Sainsburys folic acid and the tablets are tiny weeny. I've been to docs to book in today- got my midwife app on 7th Jan and scan will be roughly 5th feb. Boobs are still sore but I'm waiting for the sickness to kick in. Going on Portsmouth- St Malo ferry crossing on Sunday- so no doubt it will kick in then .
