congratulations, looweeza and chefswife! my goodness, i nearly burst into tears... big welcomes to violet and looweeza's little boy! we will have to start an arrivals list!

and i'd better finish packing that bag....

stripeywoollenhat · 10/12/2008 12:07

also - booksgalore, i'm irish and all of the names that we've thought of are definitely not. i don't think the origin of the name matters that much. aoife is a really cute name. the only name i can think of which sounds similar is orfea, but not sure that's what you mean.

and tallulahbelle - i knew there was another twin pregnancy on this thread. very impressed that all of this thread's twins are still in utero!

looweeza · 10/12/2008 12:15

hiya - no, i didn't need a transfusion in the end but was put on iron tabs..picked up within a few days (although i need an alternative to the tabs, they are horrible - spatone?)

we added a couple of day's stay because Kit (our boy) was a bit jaundiced and needed some phototreatment for two days..the worst bit by far, horrible seeing him strapped in without being able to cuddle on demand, but making up for it now!

i don't feel dizzy and breathless now but am stocking up on steak, spinach etc and taking it easy..

Spink · 10/12/2008 12:28

LOOWEZA - Congratulations!! Kit is a lovely name, on our list too You look after yourself lady!! Spatone with fresh OJ is the way to go

How funny, spurred on by you, now all of us will no doubt be rushing to (finish) packing hospital bags, as the reality of ready babies hits us!!
I know I have been hit by a new wave of preparation anyway. No symptoms of anything tho, other than LOTS of fanjo zingers as lo's head (I hope) bounces around down there. ouchey

HeathersMummy · 10/12/2008 12:39

Congratulations Chefswife on the birth of Violet
Congratulations Looweza on the birth of Kit
Chefswife - you make it sound so easy...here's hoping it's the same for the rest of us
Thanks everyone for the best wishes for my induction on Monday. To be honest, I can't believe that DC2 will be here so soon! It is very, very strange knowing almost to the day when my baby is going to be born.
Heron - my blood sugars weren't that high. When I got my GTT it was only my overnight fasting test which showed a slightly raised result - 5.6 (only 0.1) over the hospital's limit for GD I now take 4 metformin tablets daily. Seemingly problems can occur for the baby post delivery as the baby is used to living in a sugar rich environment (due to the GD), so it will be producing an excess of insulin. Upon birth, it is no longer in the sugar rich environment, but it is still producing the excess insulin - so that can cause problems. Consultant has told me that so long as feeding can be established quickly and regularly (at least every 3 hours), then things should be ok - however baby will have heel prick tests before/after feeds to check blood sugar levels until they settle. If feeding doesn't settle things SCBU beckons . I wasn't overly keen on breastfeeding as I didn't manage with DD, but it's being actively discouraged now in order to get the baby feeding enough to combat the insulin. Sorry, I don't mean to sound all doom and gloom.

heron22 · 10/12/2008 12:53

hi heathersmummy

good luck with your induction on monday!

i guess that since i have GD, i will have to deliver a bit earlier and have a planned delivery. hopefully my baby will settle and feed well.

the heel prick test you're talking about sounds horrendous to do on a little babe

but it is only temporary right?

if i dont manage to get online before monday, all the best to you for monday and let us know how you get on when you are able to

missjackson · 10/12/2008 13:22

OMG, CONGRATULATIONS Chefswife and Looweeza...

LOL at understated tone of Chefswife's post... actually made me burst into tears - oh dear, I am very emotional at the moment! Nearly cried on the tube this morning when someone offered me a seat!

Last night had a funny dream where I had already given birth, and I was congratulating myself on how quick and easy it was. I was telling my OH (who has missed the whole thing) "It started at 9.30am and was all over by 6pm... so practically like a day at the office". Here's hoping!!!

Am having stabbing pains around my pubic bone - has anyone else had this? Only since 6am this morning. I did quite a bit of walking around yesterday, so maybe that's why?

elkiedee · 10/12/2008 13:37

Congratulations to Chefswife and Looweeza, and welcome to Violet and L's ds - does he have a name yet? Good luck Heathersmummy for Monday.

caught up now.
congratulations to chefswife and looweza. in shock that babies are coming. you both sound like you are loving it. what lovely crhistmas presents for you.
heathersmummy lots of love and luck for monday. hope all goes well.
not much news here. still twingy but nothing major. ds had first night in big bedroom and seemed to go ok. woke up quicker from nap today and a bit upset but guess it will take a while to settle. good luck to whoever else is moving dc rooms. we let him play in there for about a week beforehand and that seemed to help.

Periwink · 10/12/2008 14:30

Wow - Looweeza! Another one of us has popped, congratulations!

I also get pains in that area from the SPD - they feel different though, more of an achey feeling that occasionally really hurts rather than a sudden stabbing pain. Hard to describe the difference.

largeginandtonic · 10/12/2008 16:38

Loweeza and Chefs wife!!!!! HUGE CONGRATULATIONS ladies! What fantastic news and gorgeous names

Chefswife you do indeed sound very calm.

I can't believe it!! I have just bought the last hospital bag bits in Boots this afternoon and ordered some BF nighties and jammas from Blooming Marvellous. The girl absoloutely CAN'T arrive before Xmas, i am far toooo busy

Babies already

Books my friend (Irish) has an Aoife, Oisin and Saorise. (Eeefah, usheen and seershay)I just LOVE their names, so so nice.

largeginandtonic · 10/12/2008 16:39

MsSparkle · 10/12/2008 17:01
Wink
qumps · 10/12/2008 19:04

serious twinging here and dh away for the night so slightly panicking. ds in bed so about to have a bath. will hopefully make them stop... or make them go whooosh!!

LenniEd · 10/12/2008 19:55

Ooooh, qumps hope you are ok there - what happens if you go yourself? Do you need an emcs or will they let you labour naturally? Is there someone you can call?

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 10/12/2008 20:05

the reason so many people are missing off that list is because its the wrong one! I reposted the full one near the beginning of this thread but just haven't the energy to scan and go and do it again I'm afraid. We should do it though as about half the people are missing off that one.
