OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
heron22 · 09/12/2008 10:47

hi all

can i join you please? i am 32+5 and my due date is sometime end of Jan 09.

this is my second DS. first DS is 4 1/2 yrs old

i am hoping that DS1 wont be too shocked at having to share mum and dad when little one arrives!

am thinking of getting a nice present for DS1 on arrival of DS2. has anyone tried this technique to make transition easier? thanks

stripeywoollenhat · 09/12/2008 12:27

lol qumps! no amorous vampires round your way, then... are you going to try it?

mssparkle hope your doc can sort it out at speed.

heron, you are very welcome - sorry i have no advice about gifts, i only know one small boy and he is a bit older (all gifts have to involve insects or football).

i am home today due to being up most of the night feeling sick - doc thinks it's a little bit of a bug - but first of all she checked to make sure i wasn't in labour !!! makes it seem very imminent, eh? (though i'm sure the small girl will be two weeks late, actually, and i'll be bouncing off the walls by then...)

i note some suspicious silences. where are poorbuthappy and mel with their multiples? where has moose gone?

missjackson · 09/12/2008 12:39

Yes, good question, stripey - I guess that when things start to happen people disappear from the thread for a while! Then hopefully we get happy news eventually....

Hi Heron - gift sounds like a great idea - how about gifts both ways, so that DS1 gets to choose something for his new sibling?

Well, this is my last week of living in London, and I have got lots of friends to catch up with as the last few weeks have been spent in a whirlwind of work/ wedding/ honeymoon/ tax return! I'm off to Brighton today to see an old friend, which will be lovely.

Does anyone else feel ridiculously energetic? Almost manic... ?? Maybe it's a kind of nesting. I just want to run around and organise EVERYTHING - a rare feeling for me, normally I am pretty laid-back!

Anyway, hope everyone else is doing well....

missjackson · 09/12/2008 12:41

ps Qumps LOL at garlic clove!
I've got a friend who suffers from thrush quite often, and she swears by a hairdryer to make sure area is properly dry after a shower!

tinkisahugexmaspudding · 09/12/2008 12:59

hi

thanks for light info. i will just wait till it arrives i think and try with a 10 w energy efficent one

Qumps i've never had thrush, even in pregnancy, so afraid i can't help you! Sorry. Hairdryer business seems to make sense though, and i hear you must wear COTTON knickers and Loose fitting close in the downstairs reigion. So baggy joggers or something.

Heron Welcome - Think the present is a great idea, but i think its even BETTER how miss j suggested with the present going both ways. There is LOTS of advice out there about bringing a baby home to a sibling etc, i think as long as you do your best to make them still feel equally loved and included it will go swimmingly. Do you talk about the baby in the tummy at the moment? i know my friends with more than one say involving them before the birth too is REALLY important.

MissJ i feel More engergetic, well my eyes are sore and tired, yet i'm scurrying around doing things. I think it can ONLY be nesting!!

Stripey i agree- it seems to be very quiet!!!!

IF YOUR READING LADIES, GIVE US A POST SO WE KNOW YOUR OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

fourlittlestockingedfeet · 09/12/2008 14:31

Qumps, my mums a fan of a 'natural airing' period of 30 mins after a shower.

Lunch was fab, though had a glass of wine and am now good for nothing but sleeping!

Just found an amazing doll that I want to get DD as a baby pressie but it is Soooo expensive!

This is their catalogue

heron22 · 09/12/2008 14:52

thanks for your replies i will do the gifting both ways. i have been including DS in my whole pregnancy and he wanted a baby brother and it is a boy i am having so he is thrilled! in the meantime, DH keeps making noise about having #3 - cos we were hoping for a girl!

i too have a fixation with household cleaning sprays and disinfectants!! i especially love mr muscle bathroom spray and JIF kitchen lemon! my house has never been so clean! the bathroom sinks gets cleaned twice a day - at least!!

anyone on this thread having a csection? my consultant wants to deliver this baby 10 days early - on 20th jan. i had pre-eclampsia with DS and now i have gestational diabetes. taking metformin daily and trying to eat low GI foods. and am testing my blood glucose before and after every meal. so much blood letting !

heron22 · 09/12/2008 14:53

hi Four, i checked out the link to the dolls and they are gorgeous! and look expensive!!!

heron welcome! I've got a ds too but younger than yours so pressies will be different.. he is getting a thomas tank engine little push along thing from his new brother/sister. My mum and dad are buying him a baby doll + pushchair for Christmas so he has a baby to look after too!

I've done some research on some of our missing people - I spotted mel somewhere yesterday, and I think I read that she had a show just over a week ago, so could be any time for her!
Poorbuthappy doesn't have an internet connection at home and I know she was stopping work a couple of weeks ago so that was the last time she was around?
hello ladies and come say hiya if you're reading!!
moosemama!? you out there??
I hope I don't come across as a stalker, btw...

Spink · 09/12/2008 15:16

FLF! the banana babies are so so so ridiculously cute!!

qumps · 09/12/2008 15:27

heron i am having a c section due to shoulder dystocia last time. my ds is 18 months and is gettinga digger and a little red train book from his new brother.
i too have had a disinfectiong day - been swapping over bedrooms - and no i am NOT putting garlic up there!

Periwink · 09/12/2008 15:28

rrrayray thanks for the reminder - I must go and buy the arnica this weekend, completely forgot! Good to hear your DH is showing more interest.

Fourlittlefeet - those links were great - thanks!

qumps - garlic and hairdryer, sorry made me chuckle - bet I would not be the one to chuckle if it was me suffering with the thrush ... I have had it in the past and I had to cut out all yeast and wheat

HeathersMummy · 09/12/2008 15:40

Welcome Heron - I too have gestational diabetes and I'm getting induced on Monday night (I'll be 37+5). I'm also on metformin and growing increasing tired of pin pricks on the fingers - mine seem to be getting a bit calloused with the incessant testing . The good news is that in these final few days my body seems to be far more tolerant of sugar - in fact last night I indulged with some Ben and Jerrys and my "score" afterwards was only 6.0
My DD is 3.6 and we've bought a bag of goodies for the baby to give her - just simple, silly things. In return, her daddy is going to take her to The Bear Factory to buy a teddy bear for the new baby when it's born ( we don't know the sex).
Was feeling really motivated in the house at the weekend and it was shining like a new pin, but DH and DD seem to have put pay to that in the last couple of days - why are they so messy!!
Hope our "missing" ladies are all ok.

HeathersMummy · 09/12/2008 15:41

Couldn't bring myself to do a sad santa face - santa shouldn't be sad...at least that's what DD has just told me when she saw it

mel2005 · 09/12/2008 16:29

hi, i am still here waiting for the big day, have had alot of BH and a show over a week ago. i am getting rather huge and cant really find anywhere comfortable to sit or sleep at the moment. i am excited that i managed to get this far and will be 36 weeks on saturday, the consultant said i wouldnt get past 36 weeks as i am not very big. after all the scares and bleeds and having to have the steriods at 28 weeks its great for them to have hung on so long. unfortunately i have one breech/transverse so i will possibly end up with a c-section.
we have decided on Alice and Oscar, OH still wants Winnifred and Walter after his grandparents but i have put my foot down and said possibly as middle names.

i have bought pressies for my two children when the twins arrive and they have bought the twins a present as well. everything is ready, i even have the car seats in the car as i dont think it will be long.

glad to see you are all doing well, i have not managed to catch up on all the thread but it sounds like we will have some babies soon. time has flown by!!!!

heron22 · 09/12/2008 16:40

hi heathersmummy

did the doc scan your baby to check how big he/she is? is it because of your gestational diabetes that you are getting induced early?
when did the diabetes start? for me, it was around week 27.

i am so tired of the testing as well, my little fingers are getting sore

i had a scan yesterday and my little one is 5.5 lbs at 33 weeks (still within acceptable limits). DS1 was a big baby, so this one is too.

i dont want to have to take insulin!
